SNMP WLS 6.1 / Integration
Hello,
We are currently trying to integrate WLS 6.1 with SNMP using the WebLogic SNMP
Agent and Omnibus. We can raise and send traps to Omnibus however we have the
following query:
The WLS SNMP agent sends the peer ip address as localhost (127.0.0.1). We expected
it to send the actual ip address of the host as the peer ip address, not the loop
back address. If this is the standard then is it configurable?

NO. The first product to support JDK 1.4 is WLS 8.1.
No plans to make prior releases compatible with JDK 1.4.

Visual Age 3.5, WLS 5.1, Integration Kit 5.1 beta and JSP?
Hello,
i have a problem with the missing JSP-support in Visual Age. It would be a
workaround to develop JSP outside Visual Age and just put them into the
myserver/public_html directory. But if i start WLS from within Visual Age,
the JSP won't compile, i get the error:

Deployment of same EAR fails on one WLS and succeeds on another!

We are migrating from 10g to 11G for our SOA/ADF application.
Step1: We installed Jdev 11G and also weblogic server that is free on OTN, on our machines. We wanted to first test the deployment on this server on our local machines before we did the deployment on our company's WL server. We were able to successfully create an EAR file (after many road blocks) and deploy the application to the free weblogic server (please note I am NOT saying the embedded WLS or the Integrated WLS).
Step2: We used the EAR file created in the step above and used the same Jdev 11g to do the deployment but instead of connecting to the WLS on our machines, we created a server connection pointing to the company's server. We were confident that this will go smoothly but noooooooo!!!!!! We are getting the following error while deployment. The deployment is failing.
Caused By: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.bi.renderkit.graph.GraphServlet
Why should this happen? We are using the same EAR and the same JDev to do the deployment. ADF domain has been extended on both the servers. After the deployment failed on our company's WLS, we used the same ear and using JDev to do the deployment again but the one on our machine. It went smoothly. What is going on here?
Any help is appreciated.Can being low on system tablespace effect creating indexes in anyway? Yes it can; even if your index (or table, or package) is created in a non-system tablespace, the description of the index is stored in Oracle's dictionary tables, owned by SYS:
OBJ$ (the list of objects)
IND$ (the list of indexes) - or TAB$, etc
ICOL$ (index columns) - or COL$ for tables...
SEG$ (the list of segments)
UET$ (the list of used extents)
etc. These are the tables on which the dictionary views (eg USER_INDEXES) that we all know and love are based.
These tables grow over time; eventually they too need to be extended. And if there isn't enough free space in the SYSTEM tablespace, your DDL operation fails.
With packages/procedures/functions you require space in a plethora of tables that store the code and the compiled forms of your PL/SQL.

Starting One of managed server in cluster SOA Suite(11.1.1.4.0) fails
Oracle Soa Suite (11.1.1.4.0)
Weblogic (10.3.4).
Operating System : Red Hat Linux 5.5
I have installed and configured Oracle Soa Suite (11.1.1.4.0) with 1 Admin Server(host1) and 2 Managed Severs (host1,host2). Deployed wsm-pm (cluster), wsm*.*.seedpolicies* (cluster).
I was able to start the Admin Server , Started the Node Managers in both (host1) & (host2). I made sure to run the pack & unpack utility from $ORACLE_HOME/oracle_common/common/bin folder while i moved from one host to another.
Also i ran $ORACLE_HOME/oracle_common/common/bin/./setNMProps.sh on both host1 & host2. Made sureto check on both the nodemanager running on host1 & host2 has "StartScriptEnabled=true".
Now when i start Managed Server 1 in host1(Admin server run on same host) -- It started just fine.
When i Started Managed Server 2 in host2 , it started with ADMIN State and i tailed the logs and found the exception below.
I also made sure the os level permissions are not an issue here. I can see those artifacts in the folder structure mentioned and available. So not sure what am I missing here.
Any help solving this exception would be appreciated.

Yes I did pretty standard stuff on pack and unpack. I did the same in SOA Suite 11gR1 PS1 and it works fine.
I tried to do the same with PS2 which had issues clustering the osb. But soa suite ran fine using nodemanager and startManagedServer.
I am trying the same procedure and it failed in 11.1.1.4.0 version.
When i checked the classpath between the managed server on hosta and hostb it looks different.

I noticed the jar files in both classpath are same , but its denoted different in hosta which runs fine like "@oracle....*.jar" but in hostb its denoted as /data/..../*.jar.
Not sure if something is missing or should be run between them to work fine. -

Have you installed the content server seperatly from webcenter or as a part of the webcenter installation?
Check if you have the webcenter spaces component installed in content server because without i don't think it will work...
If you already have configured UCM to work with spaces it's quiet easy.
From your groupspace, open the settings page of your groupspace. Go to the services tab. In the left hand side you can enable the documents services. WHen you have done that, you are able to add the document services taskflows to your pages. Just go to a page in your pagegroup and edit it. Open the resource catalog and you will find some extra taskflows you can add.
If you haven't configured UCM and webcenter to work together, here some steps that will help you:
* Integrating UCM with Spaces
* They both need to use the same LDAP store.
* Since there is no LDAP server available, we choose for embedded WLS LDAP.
* Integrating the ucm into apache
* Stop UCM
* In /oracle/product/wls10320/WebCenter/ucm/config/config.cfg, check the SocketHostAddressSecurityFilter to contain 127.0.0.1

I have a very simple problem and obviously you can provide a simple solution.
ESXi Hypervisors – 5.0 SU3
Prime Collaboration Assurance - 10.5.1.0.53684
I have 7 ESXi Hypervisors running 5.0SU3. They have SNMP communities configured for integration into PCA. The customer asked us to update the SNMP communities on the Hypervisors after a security audit.
This has been completed successfully but the PCA device work centre is still using the old community despite the fact I must have changed it over 100 times. I know this because if I put the old community back on the Hypervisor and verify the device from Device Work Centre, it passes.
I have deleted the Profile and re-added it with the new SNMP community. I have created a new profile and tried to discover the Hypervisors with this profile. I have re-booted the whole Prime appliance.
Does anyone have any ideas, this should be the simplest thing and it is driving me crazy.

OK, so PCA was configured for two SNMP strings the device work centre, manage credentials. One string was for RO, the other for RW. The customer asked me to change the RW string only following a security audit. After I changed it on the Hypervisors and PCA, they could not be managed because the SNMP credentials were incorrect. After analysis of Wireshark, it would seem that PCA is only using the RO string for management and not the RW. This is strange for two reasons:-
It was using the SNMP RW before because the Hypervisors were only ever configured with the RW string, not the RO so there is no other way it could of been managed. Why has it changed?
Why have the SNMP RW credential for an ESXi server if PCA does not use it?
Does that make sense? -
I have setup and configured MSAD in WebLogic 10.3.5. I am able to see groups and users. If I try and log in with my MSAD credentials it fails. Is there something else I need to setup in order to be able to login to the WebLogic console as myself and not just the "weblogic" user?

If you are doing just straight up MSAD and not using OBIEE 11g, then just skip the OBIEE 11g steps and the rest will still work with just the WLS and MSAD integration.

Thanks in advance.The SRDemo might be a left over from a previous try to test something.
Two actions you can try:
1) log in to the admin console (127.0.0.1:<port>/console) and check the deployments. If you see SRDemo in the deployment section remove it. The login will work even if you see the error as the server is in running mode.
2) if 1) doesn't fix the problem, you can close jdev and remove the DefaultDomain folder from the file system. It's located at D:\jdeveloper\jdeveloper\jdev\system11.1.2.1.38.60.81\ in your case. This will remove the whole integrated server. Next time you start JDev open the Application Server Navigator, select the Integrated Weblogic Server, right click on it and select configure DefaultDomain. This will create a fresh new integrated new server. All changes or configurations you did to the old one are gone!

Hi,
I'm using JDev 11.1.1.3.
I was working normally but suddenly the integrated wls doesn't start anymore.
When I start the server, the log stops here

Although the log says "RUNNING", the server is not running. If I test, through the server properties, all tests fail, except the HTTP.
I tried to delete the cache folder and re-install the middleware... the problem remains.

Recently I have found out that I cannot get to start the integrated wls in debug mode. When I choose "Debug server instance" the IDE initiates the server start, everything goes pretty well, the Debugging log tab shows the proccess (unless the startup time seems to be suspiciously long) but it all eventually ends with the message "#### Server Instance DefaultServer could not be started: Server Instance was terminated" in the Messages tab.
After that I cannot run an app, because as soon as I do this, the server scripts try to shut the server down and deployment fails. I have noticed that this message shows up because of the longer server start, in my case it's about 120 000ms. The "Run server instance" goes ok since the server starts in 30 000ms.
I guess that there's some timeout monitoring mechanism in the IDE or somewhere in the scripts. Is there any way to increase this timeout parameter? I tried to reinstall the JDev - the same problem occurs. Longer before, the debug mode started well in may be 50 000ms, and the timeout case didn't happen. Oh, I have to mention - when windows running in the Safe mode the debug starts really well, about 30 000ms and I don't see any termination message.

Hi,
I am having jdev 11.1.1.1.0.
Many times I get following error while running my application pages:
Unable to reserve the .lok file for Integrated WLS server (DefaultServer). Typically this is because another instance of this server is already running in the WLS domain.
The only way out is to close jdev, delete system11.1.1.1.33.54.07 folder and open jdev again.
Why is this error dialog shown? Is there any permanent solution?

As suggested in the given thread, I logged into the weblogic console http://127.0.0.1:7101/console/ as 'weblogic' user.
On the left hand side in the 'View changes and restarts' section, no pending changes are shown. It shows following text:
Configuration editing is enabled. Future changes will automatically be activated as you modify, add or delete items in this domain.
Please advise. I can share the application.zip if needed.

Problem using integrated WLS in jDeveloper 11.1.2.1.0

After that, I tried setting permissions for the cwallet.sso file to ugo+rwx, but this leads to the same problems as mentioned above.
My second try was to setup an external WLS 12c, but it seems to be not yet possible to connect to a WLS 12c from within jDeveloper.

RobinAfter debugging the WLS Initialisation with jdb, I recognized that there was some trouble with dependent libraries.
In the end, I solved my problem by using another OS (Ubuntu 11.10) for development. There, the WLS works out of the box, even with 64-Bit libraries.

Hi Guys,
Did anyone have a hard time integrating ISE 1.2 with SNMP server for polling system parameters? I'm trying to add ISE 1.2.1 to solarwinds SNMP server but when adding the required parameters like IP address and community string and doing an SNMP test connection it returns a failure message. SNMP configuration on ISE is quit simple. Only two commands are needed which are the SNMP server IP and community string values. Searching on the web, i saw a bug CSCun42967 that documents SNMP problems with ISE 1.2. Could that be the problem? or if there is any limitations for this integration?

LMS 3.2.1 integration with Clarity NMS for snmp trap forwarding
Our client have integrated Clarity NMS to Ciscoworks LMS 3.2.1. So far they are receiving raw alarms/snmp traps but it lacks information/inventory of the originating device. Kindly see sample raw alarms below:

As you can see, those raw alarms doesn’t contain any information about the originating equipment or the physical card, port related information where those alarms were generated. Instead those alarms received are just NMS level alarms.

Is the issue you have the source IP address of the forwarded trap? Per RFC it is the IP of the actual device sending the trap. The originating IP should be contained within the packet. I have included some additional information you may find helpful.
Q. What is the difference between SNMP Raw Trap Forwarding and SNMP Trap alert/event Trap Forwarding? Does DFM support both?
A. You can configure raw trap forwarding at DFM > Other configuration > SNMP Trap forwarding, and processed event/alert trap forwarding at DFM > Notification Services > SNMP Trap Forwarding. Processed trap is "when DFM receives certain SNMP traps, it analyzes the data found in fields (Enterprise/Generic trap identifier/Specific Trap identifier/variable−bindings) of each SNMP trap message, and changes the property value of the object property (if required)". Raw trap is the trap that the device forwards to DFM and DFM has yet to process it. For more information, refer to the DFM User Guide. Yes, DFM supports both ways of trap forwarding.

DFM will only forward SNMP traps from devices in the DFM inventory. It will not change the trap format—it will forward the raw trap in the format in which the trap was received from the device. However, you must enable SNMP on your devices and you must do one of the following:

If DFM does not know which device generated the trap, it ignores the trap. Pass-through traps will be cleared after a default interval of 10 minutes to one hour

WLS 10.3 SNMP v3: SnmpSecurityCoderException: UNKNOWN_USER_NAME
Hi,
I'm in the midst of configuring SNMP v3 traps on WebLogic Server 10.3 using decentralized agent model (one SNMP agent per server). I have done the following as per documentation:
1) Created SNMP agent with all the correct configuration for v3 (including different engine ID for each server)
2) Created a credential mapping for SNMP and provided this as security name for my trap destination
3) I'm using MIB Explorer Pro to create a target and a user to receive SNMP v3 traps (www.mibexplorer.com)
With this setup on Admin Server and managed servere, I have setup a few trap monitors. I'm able to receive the traps successfully from Admin Server, but with the same configuration (except different engine id) I get this error in the Managed Server log:
