SNP data

Hi,
I know the data in SNP can be stored by Time or Order series.
Suppose if I want create a new key figure and add it to planning book which storage type do I need to select?
Which is storage type is generally preferred?
What kind of SNP data is stored as Time series.
Thanks,
Raj.

Hi Raj.
As a general rule, if new key figures are to be used to influence the planning result with a time based parameter or for reporting of a calculated kf, I would use time series. If new key figures are to represent live cache order categories in a planning book different to standard SNP, then order kfs would be required.
So to answer your question (or not as it happens), it depends what you are trying to do.
Have a look at the standard planning areas 9ASNP02 and 9ASNP05, 02 only uses Order KFs, while 05 uses a couple of TS KFs for things like Planned safety stock, which it will use in the planning book as part of the planning calculation, there will not be any orders.
Hope this helps.
Mark.

  • SNP: How to "lock" initial column in SNP data view (SCM7.0 / SP8)

    Hello experts,
after a change from SCM5.0 to SCM7.0 we are seeing a change in a tiny but very important capability and we are trying to re-establish it in SCM7.0. If somebody has an idea how to address this that would be of great help:
As of SCM5.0 users were able to lock the INITIAL column of an SNP DataView so that the column is the default start column and not the next future column. In SCM5.0 the solution had 2 elements
    A) set a user parameter in SU01 called /SAPAPO/SDP_STARTCOL to value X
    +
    B) double-click the header of the initial column in the SNP data view
As of SCM7.0 this is not supported anymore. There is a certain user setting in an SNP data view (Settings --> Others --> "Period from last selection"  ) but this is not behaving to our needs and SAP is saying what we want from SCM5.0 is a non-supported feature in SCM7.0.
So, does anybody have an idea how to solve this. I checked UserExits and BAdis in SPRO for interactive planning - there all kind of stuff but nothing having a method to allow / perform a "column locking" in an SNP Data view. Thanks for any tip or hint here.
    Regards
    Thomas

    Hello jejeje,
thanks for your efforts - what you describe is something users have found out on our side too - a problem remains: you can save this setting "Period from last Selection" and it brings you to the INITIAL column but: once you have scrolled forward in the SNP data view (so that the INITIAL column has disappeared) and you leave the SNP data view or select another product ... it "remembers" that you last time left the data view NOT having INITIAL column as a start column.
So, my users say that they scroll back to INITIAL column before selecting another part or using another SelectionID or leaving the SNP data view ... and of course they hate this since they have to do this a few hundred times a day worse case.
We had a call open to SAP on this and I told them that is about productivity and usabaliity issue moving from SCM5.0 to SCM7.0 - but they have nothing more to say than "not supported anymore" - and the ultimate solution is / will be to modifiy SAP SCM standard coding - unless somebody from SAP is reading the discussioons here and is dedicated to help their customers which pay millions every year into SAP support fees.
Thanks for your responses and effort !

  • SNP-- Data Loading Error

    Dear All...
    working on SCM 5.0..SNP
Created Planning Area & Planning Book...Copied frm stad PA 9ASNP02
In interactive Demand planning...selection....while loading the data..following error occurs???
"Conflict identified between selection and key figures to be read"
    kindly resolve the same..
    Rajesh

    Hello,
This error comes when the selection you are using is not in sync with the aggregate-key figure combination in the SNP Planning area. For eg: if you want to load a Material/Combination selection then you will get this error if the KFs being loaded are not assigned to the 9AMALO (Material+Location) aggregate. So check if the KFs you are loading are assigned to the aggregates as per selection.

  • SNP Data extraction issue

    Helllo to all community.
We have custom Planning Area-Planning book-Data view for some Capacity calculations.
Also we added some custom key figures with 001 shemantics (LC Time Series) and we use them to make and store different calculations in Planning Book.
Macro's working properly calculations saved in PB - its all ok.
But when I test created to this PA data source it shows zeros (0) for this added KF's some standard capacity KF's are ok. We are using  9ALORE aggregate.
Does anyone have any suggestions why I can't see any data from this custom KF's in a extractor check in RSA3?
    Thanks a lot in advance!

    Hi Ada,
Yes, all custom KF's are correctly assigned to Aggregates.
Also I've checked LiveCache TS with following reports/transactions:
    1./SAPAPO/TS_LCM_CONS_CHECK
    2. /SAPAPO/TS_PAREA_INITIALIZE
    3. /SAPAPO/TS_LCM_REORG_SNP
    4.  /SAPAPO/TSCONS
    Everything is green i.e. ok
    Any suggestions?
    Best regards, Andrey.

  • SNP Planned order START date should be displayed in DATA VIEW

    Hello Guru's
I have a very complex requirement. It is as follows
We are using heuristics and capacity leveling for our requirement. We generally see the planned orders in the SNP view but here additional requirement is that we have to see the start date of the production planned in the date view, ie the client would like to know when the actual production starts and wants to see the quantity produced on the first day in the date view.
In capacity view,we can observe the resource load which is the start date of the production planned, this load is in percentage now do i related that into quanitity and even if we do related that percentage in quantity then how do i see it the SNP data view plan.

    Hi Sriuppa,
you can use receipts view /sapapo/rrp4 transaction where you can see receipts. This transactions offers you the selection based on  product, source, target, dates, resource and you will get the list of orders.
Secondly ,if you right click in the receipts cell, select display details,it will show you order details at the bottom of the data view.
Please let me know if it helps
    Thanks
    Amit

  • Problem in getting data in SNP Planning Area Data Source

    Hi All,
Problem Statement: To fetch data from SNP Planning Area for reporting in SAP BW.
Approach: Followed the standard SAP Help Document. Link:http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm40/helpdata/en/e0/9088392b385f6be10000000a11402f/content.htm
First Step: To create a DataSource on the Planning Area (Z9ASNP02) and Aggregate(9AMALO).
    For that
Go to SAP Easy Access>Click on /SAPAPO/MSDP_ADMIN/ you are on S&DP Administration>Select the planning Area Z9ASNP02 double click on it
You are on Change Planning Area Screen>Go to Extras left click>DP/SNP Data Extraction Tool-->Click on Generate Data Source, Provide the
Data Source Name & Select the Aggregate 9AMALO and click on continue. Data Source is generated.
But now when i go for Test Data Source-->Extractor Checker Screen and then providing the version 000 and then when i click on extraction Button
It gives a Message "0 data records selected".
    Thanks in Advance,
    rahul

    Hi Somnath,
Please correct me if my understanding is wrong; you are saying that, we cannot extract data from order series keyfigures. In that case how many key figures you maintain for time series, performance miight come down for planning area if you maintain huge no of keyfigures.
Is there any way to extract data from Order series Planning area?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Jagadeesh.

  • Master Data Creation/Maintenance Automation for ECC to SNP

We are starting an SNP project using SCM 7 and ECC 6.  We use PP/DS and G-ATP but have maintained our PPM's in APO only all these years.  This will be our first time to leverage ECC data for an APO use in either PPM or PDS functionality.
We have targeted our Material/BoM/Routings to be CIF'ed over to SNP to create SNP PDS's.  To do this we are going to need to create several hundred new BOM's and several thousand Production versions in ECC.  We know which materials and usages we need to do this for and would like to find a way of creating these in ECC using some automated process.  Could you please provide any information on options that are available to either automate this data creation or a way to upload this information via a spreadsheet to ECC.
I would also be interested in any information on how to streamline and automate the COST data maintenance.  We are planning on utilizing the optimizer and will have bunches of cost data to maintain.  Is there a way to load the PDS Single Variant Costs that are maintained via PDS_MAINT and CURTO_CREATE over to SNP.  Also if there are any automated ways of loading all the other cost data that is maintained only in SNP  that would be great.
The main question ultimatly is... How do you create and maintain the SNP data in an automated way to minimize the amount of master data the SNP users need to touch.
Thansk for any information on this!

    Hi Tim
I will suggest to user LSMW program for creating BOMs and other material master elements in R/3 system.
This is simple and easy way for mass upload of material master.
For APO Side, you can also LSMW program or MASSD (T-code) for updating the data in Mass
    Thanks

  • How to create the Export Data and Import Data using flat file interface

    Hi,
Request to let me know based on the requirement below on how to export and import data using flat file interface.....
Please provide the steps involved for the same.......
BW/BI - Recovery Process for SNP data.
    For each SNP InfoProvider,
    create:
    1) Export Data:
1.a)  Create an export data source, InfoPackage, comm structure, etc. necessary to create an ASCII fixed length flat file on the XI
ctnhsappdata\iface\SCPI063\Out folder for each SNP InfoProvider.
1.b)  All fields in each InfoProvider should be exported and included in the flat file.
1.c)  A process chain should be created for each InfoProvider with a start event.
1.d)  If the file exists on the target drive it should be overwritten.
1.e)  The exported data file name should include the InfoProvider technical name.
1.f)  Include APO Planning Version, Date of Planning Run, APO Location, Calendar Year/Month, Material and BW Plant as selection criteria.
    2) Import Data:
2.a) Create a flat file source system InfoPackage, comm structure, etc. necessary to import ASCII fixed length flat files from the XI
ctnhsappdata\iface\SCPI063\Out folder for each SNP InfoProvider.
2.b)  All fields for each InfoProvider should be mapped and imported from the flat file.
2.c)  A process chain should be created for each InfoProvider with a start event.
2.d)  The file should be archived in the
ctnhsappdata\iface\SCPI063\Archive directory.  Each file name should have the date appended in YYYYMMDD format.  Each file should be deleted from the \Out directory after it is archived.
    Thanks in advance.

Here's some info on working with plists:
    http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Cocoa/Conceptual/PropertyLists/Introduc tion/chapter1_section1.html
They can be edited with any text editor. Xcode provides a graphical editor for them - make sure to use the .plist extension so Xcode will recognize it.

  • Data storage in Live Cache

    Hi,
Can some1 explain me how the SNP data is stored in the live cache.
I know it's by series of order. But tell me is there any mapping involved in it?
    Thanks,
    Siva.

Order series data is used by both SNP and PPDS.
While I do not know the exact way data is stored in liveCache the following helps me to explain and understand.
Each record in liveCache for Order Series data is stored as
    Location Product combination-ATP Category-Quantity-Time Stamp.
Unlike Timeseries data CVC is replaced by a location product combination only, keyfigure is replaced by ATP Category (each kind of Order elements has its own ATP Category) and Time Bucket is replaced by actual Time Stamp (in UTC ddmmyyyyhhmmss format).
The mapping is essentially with ATP Category which maps to corresponding MRP elements in ECC or R/3.
In the SNP Planning Area for each keyfigure the Category Group defines the grouping of ATP Categories for which orderseries data will be displayed in that particular keyfigure.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Somnath

  • Cannot generate dynamic alert for initial column in SNP.

    Hello,
I have an SNP alert macro with a simple condition running from Initial column for 158 weeks. The alert is generated correctly for all other weeks but not for initial column.
The IF condition works correctly because a CELL_BG() in the same alert macro is correctly changing the color of the Initial column cell.
Is there some setting I need to make to generate alert for initial column?

  • Need to change infopackage design to avoid overheads

    Hi Gurus,
In brief, every weekend the SNP data from the planning area in live cache is extracted into a PSA/Infocube in APO, Then the data from this infocube in APO is loaded into the PSA/Infocube in BW. All together this data extraction process takes more than 12-13 hours. This is not acceptable to the business users as the BW reports after this extraction process are available only on Monday late evening for the APAC region.
To rectify this the user now wants to split the selection for each region.
    User Requirement:
This extraction is expected to be regional based on the selection criteria of APO locations and products outlined below. Also the extraction is expected to be split into two periods using a ABAP routine (Fiscal year / period) as given below. The extraction should begin from step 1 and proceed sequentially ending with step 6.
    Step 1. APAC : u2013 (ABAP Routine: -31days to +91days)*
    APO Locations: 6451, 1515, 1435, 1325,8251, 8451, 8412, 3551, 1517, VS00 to VS99
    APO Products:
    Info Package 1. 000-0000 to 033-2488
    Info Package 2. 033-2489 to 661-2500
    Info Package 3. 661-2501 to 922-0000
    Info Package 4. 922-0001 to 999-9998
    Info Package 5. 999-9999 to ZZZZ-9999
    Info Package 6. AA000-0000 to ZZ999-9999
Data loading into Info Packages 1 to 6 should happen parallel .
    Step 2. EMEA : u2013 (ABAP Routine: -31days to +91days)*

The flow of data from APO to BW is also needs to be changed. Currently the data for the BW Cube is feed from the APO cube, Now the BW cube will get data from 2 datasources Instead of fetching data from the  APO cube.
    Proposed Design:
For the above requirement, Totally we have 6 steps. For each step we need to create 6 infopackages, therefore totally 36 infopackages needs to be created for one datasource. Finally we land in creating 72 infopackages for 2 datasources which will cause overheads while data load.
Please review the requirement and suggest us a robust solution so that the no.of.infopackages can be reduced to some extent.

    Hi Jackie,
Since with every infopackage you have changed only in time period and APO locations.....also since data source is the same and there is no restriction on the time at which data is available for loading...you can try to combine the data selections together...
If it results in huge amount of data volume then may be you may you can store these selections in the a Z table as a variant and use them in the infopackage dynamically through infopackage level routine...but that will be too much overhead and tough to maintain in case of failures.
    Thanks
    Ajeet

Hello, I'm new to applescript.  I'm trying to write a script to compare column B of one excel file to column B of the another excel file.
I will have to had a repeat loop to proceed down the column but I'm stuck on the find command.
Below is some of the code I have so far.  The applescript error message is "Microsoft Excel got an error: The object you are trying to access does not exist. It highlights the find column."
set patientFile to choose file with prompt "Please select the patient Excel file:"
set patientName to name of (info for patientFile)

Does any one have any hints towards solving this problem?  Thank you for any help.

    Hi,

Thank you everyone for your help.  I attached my code.  It works now but kinda slow.  Does anyone have any hints on making it faster.
Important : when you use the find command, it's preferable to use the properties ( look in and look at).
Example : find searchRange what searchTerm look in values look at whole
Otherwise, it will search according to the criteria of your last find.
Example, if you uncheck 'Find entire cells only', and after that you run the script,
    find column 2 what 10.0 -->  match 110.0 or 1110.0 or 310.0, .... , because it look at part.
set screen updating to false : Yes it improves the speed.
Here are my tests (no duplicate values in the Excel column ) on old computer (Powermac G5) .
set screen updating to false without any activate object command
    2000 rows --> 3.7 minutes,  your script : 11.5 minutes
    4000 rows --> 7.5 minutes, your script : 23 minutes
    8000 rows --> 15 minutes,  your script : 46 minutes
But, it's faster to search through a list without using the Excel find command, no need to set the screen updating, You can continue working on the workbook or another workbook, this will not disturb the script.

  • APO application 2 (PPDS) in RRP3 view

    Folks
Does a receipt/ requirement element with Category group AU/AV which will have the APO application field   ( last column in RRP3 view) entry as 2 (PPDS), be displayed in standard SNP pallning books ?
I had included these categories(AU/AV) in one of the existing category groups and assigned it to the one of the intended Planning area key figures and had observed that these receipt/ requirement element weren't visible in the SNP data view KF.
Any way to resolve this issue ?
    Thanks

In RRP3, view I had checked that the R/3 Object type is P(Project Order) and Category is 'AU' and Category Type is '2' (Requirement) and both source and destination fields are populated. Requirement qty is 50
So now that the project order requirement (which is Reservation, in this case) exists in RRP3 view, what I am trying to accomplish is, to view this order reservation requirement in the SNP Planning book which I had created. As, standard 9ANSP94 planning area doesn't have any KF for reservation, I had created a new PA and had created a KF, with 000 semantics, to accomodate this order reservation requirement and further assigned this KF to this Category AU.
Now in the data view for this PA, I was expecting to see the Requirement qty of 50 but couldn't see it.
My question is as the Requirement already exists in the LC, shouldn't this be displayed in SNP planning books?
Hope I am clear and would appreciate if any one can rovide their insights and experiences on how to resolve this issue.
    Thanks

  • APO Initial Column - How to load to BW

    Hi Experts,
We are exporting SNP data to BW using a datasource.
SNP puts all previous data in the initial column, but BW has to source it from the start to do calculations in BW. There must be some workaround or a standard way to avoid the data build up in BW.
    All ideas will be appreciated.

    Hi Gersh,
    Thank you for the reply.
I mapped Dimension ID to 0VERSION but still it is giving error.
In the validation it is saying as 0VERSION is empty but data is there in the BW system.
Please find the screen shot of the Transformation file and the error.
    Thanks in advance
    Venkat
