So I'm going to buy an Ipod...

I already have one, but I am going to buy a new one. I have apporoximetely 17 GB on Itunes, but I look forward to buying movies, tv shows, songs, and more from the itunes store. Would you recommend i get a 30gb? 80gb?

I have an 80GB which is awesome! Not only do I use it for videos and music, but I also can do backups onto it with such massive storage. I usually back up programs, or saved files I can't afford to lose. Another upside to having all this storage is that it will take a lot longer to fill up which means you will be able to get more out of it. Plus the 80GB has a longer battery life, but sadly, it's a tad thicker than the 30GB. It's really up to you what you will use it for, and how long you plan to have it. Movies also take up around 1.5GB at least, so with 17GB of music, you will probably be only able to fit about 6 or 7 movies. But as I said, it's mostly up to you. I personally have tons of movies.

  • Going to buy an Ipod Touch - got a few questions

After you buy the initial device, what kind of monthly fees are there? I know about having to buy songs, but what about the Wi-Fi? I'm just trying to figure out what kind of regular costs to be expecting...
    Thanks^^

So you have to get a separate internet provider? That's not a huge deal I guess... Just trying to get everything figured out before I spend the $300. Thanks.

  • Why is it that i am unable to buy an ipod nano 16gb in germany? In the stores it is advertised however not available, the store only has the 8gb and I can't ship it here? Is it a case of not yet launched, patent infringement or apple just being annoying?

I am trying, thus far with no success, to buy an ipod nano 16gb here in Germany. However whilst the stores advertise it they don't have it in stock and can't tell when it will be. The german apple store only has the 8gb version. Should i try to order from a reseller then they will only post within the uk.  iSo my question is - whats going on? Why are there no 16gb ipods to be (apparantly) had in Germany? Not launched yet? Patent infringement? Apple being very annoying?

Call Apple or an Apple Store in your city and ask them.  Or do a Google search.

  • Decision on buying an ipod video is down to one thing

I have been searching and searching for the easiest way to convert dvd to ipod, but all I can find is illegal software to do it that has complications. I even went to my local apple store and asked a salesman if they sale software that does such, but I got the idea right away that they did not appreciate what I was asking and told me dvd converting to ipod is illegal and they would not offer help in this matter. If I am going to spend 700 dollars (my wife wants one too) on something from apple, I want to know what the least complicated/ least time consuming method of converting from dvd to ipod is. Just downloading music videos and tv eps at 2 bucks a peice is not enough for me for 700 bucks. Those top heads at apple know what they are doing, I just refuse to be a victom of spending a ton of money on their product that I can't add my own stuff to. My decision on buying an ipod video comes down to the fact of wheather or not I can convert dvd to ipod in a simple manner, thanks for your help.

"but copying your dvd in which you purchased to a smaller form of viewing is a free right of owning that movie."
You need to brush up on copyright law, because you cannot make a copy of a commercially released DVD movie for any reason, even to put it onto the iPod. That's why Apple don't sell software to do this, and there is such a proliferation of 3rd party software that does. DVDs are copy protected and this 3rd party software breaks that copy protection in order to convert the movie for viewing on an iPod. Apple will never be a party to this.
"I refuse to be a victom of spending gords of money to a company that is money hungry"
You seem to be blaming Apple for copyright law. How is it Apple's fault? Money hungry? Sorry, you've lost me there.
"It's probley for the best anyways, look at how many people have problems with their ipods."
Yeah, and with over 50 million iPods sold worldwide, look at how many people don't.

  • Am I forced to buy an ipod?

    Hello everyone.
I'll try to summarize my dilemma.
Is there a Sony phone (or android device) that has decent headphone volume?
This volume issue looks like to be a tattoo everywhere.
I'm a huge sony fan (like forever) that's why I have an Xperia. I have a Google music paid account and I'm a music nuts, but I'm not getting what I need and what I think is reasonable in a portable music device. SOUND.
Is my only option, buy an iPod, forget Google music and get into iTunes?
There's something wrong here. Where's the soul of Sony? Why do xperia devices have Walkman technology but do not deliver the basic - VOLUME? How is Google expecting to compete if there are no competent android portable devices?
This is all very weird to me. I just want something as simple as "disable volume limitation" present in apple devices.

I too was a huge Sony fan but after buying many really poor Sony products and still singing their praises simply cause they were a Sony I have seen the light and tried another brand. The HTC One has exceptional sound due to its Beats Audio capability and is incredibly loud I actually have to turn it down a notch. The sound from this is fantastic also as are the two Boom Sound external speakers. I am converted!!!
Sony is more consumed in the fact loud music can damage your hearing as the warning likes to tell you on any modern Xperia phone. This should be the users choice and even going beyond this I have found the volume to be average at best. Pity Sony doesnt carry this concern over to producing a water resistant phone such as the Xperia Z that is actually water resistant.

  • I am going to buy a new ipad and give the old ipad to my daughter - how do I...

I am going to buy a new ipad and give my old ipad to my daughter - how do I break the connection from the old ipad and my Apple account so she does not use my icloud and can buy her own apps, etc?

Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. This will not remove any third-party apps, just the settings. If you wish to restore to "as new," then:
iTunes 10 for Mac- Update and restore software on iPod, iPhone, or iPad
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (or if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or if you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
             necessary to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
You will be prompted to Restore as New or Restore from a Backup. Choose the first option.

  • I am planning to buy an Ipod touch here in saudi but the facetime application is unenabled, if i bought here and bring it to other country, can i enabled the facetime?

i am planning to buy an Ipod touch here in saudi but the facetime application is unenabled, if i bought here and bring it to other country (open country), can i enabled the facetime?

The only way you're going to get facetime is if you purchase your device is a country that hasn't banned its use. However, I'm not sure if it'll even work if you do that. As in the program is disabled on the server level....for example I can bring my US device into Saudi but Facetime will not work until I get outside of the country's borders.
Skype is a program that's often mentioned as a work around for that country's ban on Facetime. (I know it exists for iPad, not sure if there's an iPod version)

  • Lost my iphone....going to buy another.......

    Hi All,
Ive lost my iphone. Probably going to buy a new one tomorrow. Is it possible to sync a new iphone to my current iTunes library???
    Many Thanks,
    Thea x

There is no device limit for the number of iPods and/or iPhones that can be synced with the same iTunes library and iTunes account on the same computer.
When you connect your new iPhone to iTunes on your computer the first time - the same computer and iTunes library you were syncing the iPhone that was stolen with, you should be prompted to transfer the backup for your previous iPhone that was stolen to your new iPhone. This must be followed by a sync to transfer your selections under the various tabs for your iPhone sync preferences to your new iPhone.

  • I am going to buy myself a MacBook Pro in the near future and was wondering if the new Retina Display model would be worth the extra cash. I will mostly be doing photo/video/music editing.

I am going to buy myself a MacBook Pro in the near future and was wondering if the new Retina Display model would be worth the extra cash. I will mostly be doing photo/video/music editing.

if you're not in a big rush - why not hold off until Adobe and Microsoft releases an update to support the Retina Screen.
Don't get me wrong - the Macbook Retina is a good and videos look great - but when it comes to Photoshop, it's a little blurry and the fonts in Excel and Word is pretty blurry too.....I own one....
In any event, if it's something you can live with - then by all means - go for it.....
Otherwise - get the non Retina Macbook Pro - it's cheaper, and it's user upgradeable in both RAM and Hard Drive.
    Good luck.

Hi, i am going to buy and iPhone 5 in france but it says its an unlocked iphone so i guess if i take it to Ecuador (my country) the iPhone is gonna work with a sim card from Ecuador right¿

If the receipt says "unlocked" (and not "SIM free") then it will work anywhere in the world that there is a GSM network. However, if it ever needs repair you will have to take it back to France.

  • I am going to buy either a Mac Air or Mac Pro Retina 8GB RAM and 256GB. And as I have to still run Windows I will install Parallels 9. As the Mac are both 64bit machines does that mean I need to install Windows 7 64bit ? And office pro 2013 64 bit too?

I am going to buy either a Mac Air or Mac Pro Retina 8GB RAM and 256GB. And as I have to still run Windows programs I will install Parallels 9. As the Mac are both 64bit machines does that mean I need to install Windows 7 64bit or just install 32 bit? (Going with Win7 as I hate Win8). And I will install Office Pro 2013 64 bit too or 32 bit or is that automatically selected by the underlying OS (I use Word, Excel and Access mainly for a membership database of a local club) ? I am not a power user so would appreciate advice on way to go

Again thank you.  If I only use word, excel and access in the Win environment and Mac OS for email and safari for internet do I need anti virus software . Ie my connection to the world is mac only and I use office pro only to ruin the club, newsletters, membership database etc. and of course anything I do there can drag/drop to the mac environ to email.  That's my understanding anyway.  Next will my existing .pst file copy directly into mac mail or do I have to runs translator  as I recall reading something about that ages ago when I started thinking Mac
