The only way you're going to get facetime is if you purchase your device is a country that hasn't banned its use. However, I'm not sure if it'll even work if you do that. As in the program is disabled on the server level....for example I can bring my US device into Saudi but Facetime will not work until I get outside of the country's borders.
Skype is a program that's often mentioned as a work around for that country's ban on Facetime. (I know it exists for iPad, not sure if there's an iPod version)

All I can say is that I REALLY like my Touch 4th gen because I have all sorts of capabilities in a small form: e-mail, web browsing, news, weather, books, magazines, etc. etc. Plus lots and lots of apps out there, including so many free ones. I use the Cloud a lot so it's great to have everything sync'd to my MacBookPro (e-mail, Evernote, Pocket, etc.)
It would be easier, though, to do some of this, especially magazines, on the iPad mini, but, again, I love the small size of the Touch.
As for the 5th gen instead of the 4th, the fifth has Siri and the 3D feature in maps, which are great. And I'm sure it's a lot faster in iOS 6 than the 4th gen. And cool colors!

I have here an iPod touch Model number a1288 but the last number to me also looks like a 3. But that isn't my point. I'm here asking this question,. I broke my screen today and I was wondering if it mattered or not if i put on a ipod touch 2nd or 3rd then LCD and Screen. I really don't want to buy a new iPod and i've had this for a long time and its still working fine for me. Ijust need something that will play my music at work. Please someone helpp.

My friend sold me his iPod touch 3 gen 32gb but the problem is it's disabled an it ses to connect to iTunes an when I do connect it ses first I have to enter the password on the iPod but I can't cuz the screen stays the same what should I do
connect it in recovery mode, then set it up as a new device.

It has nothing to do with where the iPod was purchased (except for FaceTime since some middle-eastern countries prohibit FT and it does not appear on those iPods). I depends upon what is available in the App store in the counry where you are located.

Planning on buying an Ipod Touch 8 gb
Well, I plan on purchasing a new Ipod Touch soon but don't know which generation to get and whether I should wait longer. At Best Buy Canada, the Ipod Touch 2G 8 gb is $199 but is it worth paying an extra $20 for the 3G? From what I can see, the Touch hasn't/barely changed. I'm also worried that they'll release a Touch 3G 8 gb with the hardware upgrade. I plan on using the Ipod Touch for music, a few movies/videos but mainly for apps and wifi.
Thanks!It really all depends on how much music/how many apps/movies you plan on having. If you want to keep multiple movies, have more than 500 songs and a crap load of apps, then you might want to think about a higher gigabyte count. For example, I have about 400 songs (about 2 gigs) and about 112 apps (1.5 gigs) and that leaves me room for one, maybe two movies. If you are about the same, then 8 gigs should be good. But if you want wiggle room, then you might want to go higher.
However, waiting for the next generation may prove to be a bit tedious since it's almost a guarantee that it's not coming until next September, seeing as how they have already released the new iPods for the next year. -
okay so i tried to rent a movie but the blue rent button just turned light green for a few seconds and then went back to blue without renting it. it allows music videos to be bought but not movies. the same happens when i click buy .please help! thanks

Hey HaithamElloumi, If your sitting on the fence, why not wait till this fall-- All other iPods where released in the fall of 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2012. Will Apple continue this trend and release an iPod 6, this fall? I don't know. You'll have to hurry up and wait with the rest of us! I have set up another user screen on my PC (MS Windows 7) & downloaded iTunes and then downloaded the latest software version. The sync has taken over an hour so far, is this normal? It is my niece's iPod and she has her music library on her laptop but has not downloaded the latest software - does this cause a clash if the iPod is registered to a different PC? Any help or guidance in an idiots simple way would be most appreciated. JT
It is the update firmware is taking so long? It can take an hour or more for the download.
If you do the update on other than the syncing computer, all the music and apps will not be on the iPod after the update see:

Why can I copy music to my iPad or iPod touch from multiple computers but from only one computer using my iPhone?
IPads and iPod Touches don't seem to have the same media copying restriction that my iPhone has. My main computer is at home. I have music at home and at work and sometimes I like to add it to my iPhone from work. I can do this no problem using my iPad or my iPod touch, but when it comes to my iPhone, I can only copy music to it from my main computer.
Why would the iPhone have this restriction but not the other two devices?
ps. Where's my "add currently playing song to playlist" button? I can't even find a third-party music app with this feature.Because...!
I've no idea why either.
Although it isn't normally possible to sync an iPod/iPad/iPhone with two computers (or manually manage an iPhone from more than one) it can be achieved if all computers have copies of the self same library. See Re: how do i sync on a second laptop without the data on my iPhone 5 being erased?
