You have a backup of your computer, or at the very least of your iTunes media, correct?
Simply copy your backup of your iTunes media into the iTunes library on your new computer.
Connecting and syncing your device to the new computer without first recovering your iTunes media is a really, really, really bad idea. iDevices are designed to ONLY sync with one computer. When you plug your device into a new computer, it will wipe all media on the device when it syncs. The only media you may be able to salvage and transfer to the new computer would be anything bought directly on the device.
If you do not have a backup of your iTunes media, then you will want to either look at a way (using software from a third party company) to either extract the media from you iDevice or your old computer (assuming the hard drive is not toast).

There are lots of ideas floating on the web for this particular issue - all of which I tried. I had the same problem and it turned out to be my USB cable. I thought the cable was fine as it would charge my phone and play but the data transfer pin was bent. I replaced the cable and it fixed the problem. Worth a shot as it is an easy fix!

The Retrospect you used way back when is no longer around. The company was sold and that company produced a new version of Retrospect - Retrospect 8.x
So, as you've been told, you would have to be running a Tiger system with an old version of Retrospect software (5.x or 6.x - you would need to know) assuming you can find the software.
As best I can remember you cannot extract files from a Retrospect backup except using the software since Retrospect did not normally make a file by file backup rather it created an archive of the files in the backup. I'm assuming that the EMC/Retrospect people have told you that old Retrospect backups are not accessible by Retrospect 8.x?

I was trying to sync my music from my Macbook to my iPhone 5 and accidentally restored the phone to some previous version that I had. In the process, I managed to lose all of my pictures, contacts, text messages, etc. I need some of that back. My computer seems to have the .ap files, but I cannot open them. Is there any way to get my pictures back at the very least?

My iphone 3gs has recently broken and have put it in for repair but i may loose all data. which would be fine as i had backed it up on my itunes. However my computer has now broke. is there anyway of getting my restore back on another computer at all?

my iphone 3gs has broken [was in a sort of reboot loop] so that is being fixed and i get it back on Thursday. Instructions on syncing your iPad can be found here:

and in the accompanying documents linked from that page. Syncing your iPad with iTunes copies items, it doesn't move them. The only way apps would be actually removed from your iPad during syncing is if you had iTunes set to remove them on syncing, so check the appropriate settings in iTunes, set the book to sync as well, and then sync the iPad again.

You won't be able to, just by navigating out the iPod's photos folder in iTunes. You'll likely need the help of some sort of third party software to get the job done for you. One thing you'll want to keep in mind about these photos is that they are no longer in their full resolution, but instead are scaled down thumbnail versions that were optimized for viewing on your iPod's Video smaller 2.5" LCD display.

Try resetting the phone. Hold the home and power lock button until the Apple logo appears.If that does not work, turn the phone off and take the SIM out and then put it back in.

It's not likely to re-connect to a network lying on the ground somewhere and getting rained on, it would be really great if I could see that map again so I could use it's last known location to find it. Kind of pointless to have a 24 hr killswitch deadline. If I had known I would have taken a screen-shot while I still had access to the information. I have the exact same question. I have the serial number too. I called Adobe help line, and they had a "technician" go into my computer and I thought he was going to reinstall. He just showed me why the computer runs slow and why it didn't reinstall, and then told me if I still wanted his help it would be $300-$400. !! i thought it was a help line.... how does that help? I didn't pay that much for the program!!
