SOAP Header creating problem

Hello all,
I have a Apache SOAP-RPC server running at my end.
I have a Java method exposed thru a service.
My Soap-RPC works great when I test it using a Java Client.
Now I want to call this service using a Visual Basic client.
Once I sent the request from the VB client, I get a SOAP Fault like:
<faultstring>Unsupported content type "application/x-www-form-urlencoded", must be: "text/xml".</faultstring>
If anyone has faced this problem or knows how to solve this problem please help.
Yes in my VB client I do set the COntent type to be "text/xml".

Which version of VB are you using? I have VB6 and Excel clients accessing a JAX-RPC server using the MSSOAP Toolkit 3.0 with no problems. I had better luck with version 3.0 of the SOAP Toolkit than version 2.0.

I have found a solution to this problem. It is possible to add header entries to the DynamicConfiguration which is available by an API:
soapMsg.append("<SOAP-ENV:Header>");
soapMsg.append("<SAP:DynamicConfiguration xmlns:SAP=\"http://sap.com/xi/XI/Message/30\" xmlns:SOAP=\"http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/\" SOAP:mustUnderstand=\"1\">");
soapMsg.append("<SAP:Record namespace=\"http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/SOAP\" name=\"SRmsUser\">test</SAP:Record>");
This code snip shows Java client code to add an element to the SOAP header which corresponds to the DynamicConfiguration. In XI it will be accessable using the respective API.

How to create SOAP Header elements using SAAJ??

I am facing a problem when adding header elements under SOAP Header
using SAAJ(api).
I want to create a structure as following:
I get a empty SOAP header obejct by writing code--> SOAPHeader header
= envelope.getHeader();
But not able to add SOAP header elements as specified in example
below. I tried but its giving me error as
"HeaderElements must be namespace qualified"
CAN ANYBODY TELL ME THAT HOW TO ADD HEADER ELEMENTS USING SAAJ??

I'm including this comment from some code I've just written after wrestling with this for hours (I've actually left it on another post as well). The upshot of it all is that you have to include a namespace URI when creating a header in SAAJ:
        NOTE: SOAP 1.1 requires that all header entries be namespace-qualified to
        namespace URI's. The SAAJ 1.2 implementation requires a Name object with
        the namespace URI to make this happen even if the prefix used is already
        visible by being declared higher in the document (e.g. in the Envelope).
        However, the namespace URI is not present in the serialized header element
        as long as it was declared higher in the document. In order to create a
        header element without a prefix (to conform to a web service definition
        that doesn't use a prefix in its headers, for example), leave the prefix
        null in the addHeaderElement() method.
        For example, with a SOAPHeader 'hdr':
          //first create the name
          Name name = env.createName("my-local-name", null, "my-URI");
          //then create the header element
          SOAPHeaderElement he = hdr.addHeaderElement(name);
        This would result in an XML element that looked like this:
          <my-local-name xmlns="my-URI"/>
        This would allow SAAJ developers to create a header for a service that
        only expected a local name in its header elements (as many do!). As long
        as the service doesn't choke on the attribute (validation! evil!), this
        should work.

SOAP Header problem SAAJ

I am using SAAJ to send a SOAP message that needs to be exactly in a certain format. I have managed to get quite close yet there are a few things that I am unable to get working with SAAJ. Would be great if somebody on the forum can help out. I have simplified my real life example so that others could try out the code and hopefully come up with a solution.
The SOAP message I need to send is in the form:

2) SAAJ forces me to have a prefix and namespace to all header tags. So I could not create the expected tag within the SOAP header. I wish to get rid of DontWantThisPrefix and DontWantThis from the header tag Head1.

With ABAP, I need create an XML file iwith SOAP envelope. The message has to be signed and the sign data saved in the ws-security part in the SOAP header. I have to sign the file with a X509v3 certificate in base64.
Somebody can tell me how can create the SOAP header and sign it with ABAP for the XML.

NWAS ABAP 7.x provides support for WS-Security - in both roles, as Consumer and Provider.
The right approach is to generate a proxy based on a given WSDL.
What kind of (message-based) authentication is demanded by the WS Provider?

In order to to solve your problem, I need to know what is the header that you want to add into the header, what is WSDL, and have you try testing that web service using other tool such as SOAPUI or XMLSPY and what is the result of testing tool?

when I create my communication channel with "Do not Use SOAP Envelope" uncheck it, all run ok, but I only get in response message "<LoginResponse>" and I need <UserToken>
When I check it "Do not use SOAP Envelope" and I use XSLT mapping to add SOAP Env to request message, I get response message empty.
I tried the web Service with the message that I obtained from de XSLT mapping in the program SOAPUI. I get ok response with the <UserToken> value.
some idea to solve this problem??

Reading custom SOAP header with XHeaderName1

I have a SOAP to File scenario and I am trying to do dynamic receiver determination by looking at the SOAP request header info. I am adding a custom field (System_ID) that I want rules to run against in Receiver Determination..

In the Receiver Determination I have multiple rules using SOAP context object to XHeaderName1 = the System_ID (100) to pass the message to the right system at runtime according to the System_ID.
In the SOAP sender channel I have Set Adapter-Specific Message Attributes and Variable Transport Binding checked. I also have the variable name System_ID in the first Variable Header (XHeaderName1).
In the SOAP sender Conversion Parameters I have Do Not Use SOAP Envelope and Keep Headers checked, as well as nosoap=true in the SOAP request URL.
I'm getting the System ID to show in XI in sxmb_moni in the Header but no where do I see it being used with XHeaderName1.
Am I using XHeaderName1 right? If not could you advise as to how XHeaderName1 should be used?
My requirement is to read system ID from Header, not payload.

I was able to find a solution to my problem.
I created a basic senario below to test:
1.A basic Asynchronous scenario is created using a SOAP sender adapter to 2 possible flat file receivers.
2.The SOAP sender channel will have the option u201CDo Not Use SOAP envelopeu201D checked and SOAPUI URL will have u201C&nosoap=trueu201D added to the end.
3.The receiver system name will be stored in the WS-Addressing u201CActionu201D field sent from SOAPUI.
4.Two ABAP mappings are created. One mapping will extract the system number from the WS-Addressing u201CActionu201D field. The other mapping will extract just the body of the SOAP message to send along. Using regex and string manipulation in the ABAP mappings we can reuse the mappings for any SOAP message.

While this is a solution is not the best, it is a solution. Upon research I found a recent SAP Note 1385579 talking about implementing a SAP delivered generic SOAP Sender AXIS handler com.sap.aii.axis.soap.HeaderExtractionHandler to extract SOAP Header elements and place in message attributes. I will be trying this out.

How to add empty soap header?

Hello,
I created a web service proxy using WSDL and XSD files. Then, I created a sample request from client interface and sent the request as an object to call the web services. However, I am not directly calling the webservices as I am doing it through a Gateway. Here, the problem is, the Gateway accepts only empty SOAP headers and the Gateway inserts the security details in that SOAP header and will send a request to the original web services. Even if we add any element in the SOAP header, it is not accepting the request.
While sending a request through the client interface(Java class), I am not able to generate a empty SOAP header and send as request. I tried several ways adding a empty header. but no result. Is there any way we can add empty SOAP header while sending a requesting through Java class(Client interface)?

I have tried different approaches for adding empty SOAP header with no elements. But, none of them worked. The only solution for this issue is to add OSB proxy which has the functionality to send empty SOAP header which worked for me.

Modify SOAP header in ABAP for 3rd party WSDL

Hi SDN,
I want to consume a 3rd party WSDL in ABAP. I have created the proxy through SE80, and created the logical port through LPCONFIG. The WSDL I'm using needs me to include some authentication (developer key, and password) in the header portion of the SOAP message. Example below.

How can I edit the SOAP header to include this information so that this WSDL will work when I call it? There must be a better way than hardcoding the SOAP call and using an HTTP client call.
I've looked in google and SDN and haven't been able to find a good answer to this problem.

Have a search in SDN for "if_wsprotocol_ws_header" - there are several postings and examples and if you goto SE24 and look at the documentation attached to IF_WSPROTOCOL you can get to the example referred to in some of the SDN postings. I also found "real" examples in SAP e.g. function group FITP_SABRE_WS, and I got it to work OK (eventually) after browsing some of these.
