Hi all,
I have a RFC <-> XI <-> SOAP scenario, using HTTPS and I found this exeption (RW):
Received XI System Error. ErrorCode: GENERAL ErrorText: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.DeliveryException: unable to create a socket ErrorStack:
Returning synchronous error notification to calling application: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.DeliveryException: XIAdapterFramework:GENERAL:com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.DeliveryException: unable to create a socket.
Transmitting the message using connection http://<hostname>:<portname>/sap/xi/engine?type=entry failed, due to: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.DeliveryException: XIAdapterFramework:GENERAL:com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.DeliveryException: unable to create a socket.
The message status set to FAIL.
Returning to application. Exception: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.DeliveryException: XIAdapterFramework:GENERAL:com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.DeliveryException: unable to create a socket.

We are using the Proxy-> XI -> SOAP scenario(Synchronus). I am able to see that the request message mapping has transformed the message in to the required format. But, when it is calling the SOAP adapter it is giving com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.DeliveryException: unable to create a socket error. Can any one help us in knowing
what exactly is the problem. We have used 'Do not use SOAP envelop' option in the SOAP receiver adapter.

Exception caught by adapter framework: unable to create a socket

Hi All,
I am using Idoc to XI To SOAP scinario. I got a alert asying that some messsage id is error. When i am trying to monitor that massage by taking help of the messgae id in the alert the message was successful in the SXMB_MONI,. Then i Went to message monitoring There the message statu was syetem error. Errror log is *Exception caught by adapter framework: unable to create a socket*. The communication channel was inactive wehere as the statsu of the channel was active in the directory... what is the reasonm for this error. and how to resilev this.

As pointed already, a socket exception occurs when then message cannot pass the Firewall settings....there will be a port configured to send message to the SOAP receiver.....ask network guys to make relevant settings so that the port is free from Firewall restrictions.
@Supriya --> Active/ Inactive status of the channel in ID and in CC monitoring are different things.
To change the status of your CC in RWB --> Stop & Start your SOAP CC....the channel will remain inactive till no message is passed through it....once a message is passed the status will change to success/ error.
You can also change the CC status to Automatic.

Mail sender Adapter error: unable to create a socket

I got the following error in CC - mail adapter:
exception caught during processing mail message; java.io.IOException: unable to create a socket
both for pops and imaps protocols
I could not find answers to how to fix it.Any help will be appreciated.
Are there any other logs,trace to get more info about the error?

I checked the mail server url, acoount and password , if this was what you ment. I also read the wiki. It's a good one but describes simple pop and imap protocols.
I still have the same error message and I am using imaps and pops. I've read in forum post that I need to to implement (import) "SAP Cryptographic toolkit" and import a certificate to ABAP and Java part of XI.

Unable to create a socket

We are trying to receive an XML file from a partner (with SSL) through our PI system. About half of the files we receive during the day succeed normally. The other half fail with the following messages:
In CC monitor:
Message processing failed. Cause: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: unable to create a socket: java.io.IOException: unable to create a socket
SOAP: call failed: java.io.IOException: unable to create a socket
and in SXMB_MONI
com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.DeliveryException: unable to create a socket
Does anyone know why this could be happening to only some of the files and not others when all other things are the same?

I faced some times this issue.As of my analysis, It is various downtimes from your target system or error in your server. So might be that reason,These type of exceptions are came.
My suggestion is please resend these message from RWB-->Message Monitoring, Before that please check with your target sever support persons.
And please take some time to resend it those messages which are failed.

SOAP Receiver java.io.IOException: unable to create a socket

Hi All,
I have scenario where i invoke a external webservice (over internet) using SOAP adapter. I can reach the external target as they see my traffic on firewall but i always get:
com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.DeliveryException: java.io.IOException: unable to create a socket
I cannot find any logs which provide more information on this. I have imported all the clients certificates into my J2EE keystore (webservice is over HTTPS). Any suggestions on where better logs can be found would be appreciated. So far checked RWB and the default trace log.
Since my certificates arent in ABAP stack I cant use SM59 to test. I have used test tool like soapUI and can invoke the web service (although on different network to my XI server) so not sure why XI is failing
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Sorry forgot to mention - The error its self i suspect is firewall and will need to get network people to look at but any information on how to debug errors like this on J2EE side would be appreciated - is there a J2EE version of SM59?

Creating Digital certificates for SOAP Receiver Adapter

Hi
In Visual Admin...> if we go to the "key storage" and try to create the certificates, we have the options of
selecting the below algorithms.
RSA-512,1024
DH -512,1024
DSA-512,1024
But SOAP Receiver Adapter supports only the below encryption algorithms.
3DES
DES
RC2-40
RC2-64
RC2-128
Still if I try to use any of the RSA, DH, DSA algorithms to create the certificates in visual admin and if I
use the same certificate in SOAP Receiver adapter, I am getting the below error in sxmb_moni
com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.DeliveryException: Unsupported keysize or algorithm parameters.
Could you plz advise, is there any provision in XI to create the certificates using the algorithmS 3DES, DES, RC2 ? or We got to import the certificates from third-party which supports 3DES, DES and RC2 ??

I am trying to use the soap adapter to connect to a URL and post a document. When I try, the adapter throws the following
java.io.IOException: unable to create a socket
Does anyone know what causes this?
I get it both with the SOAP Envelope turned on and off.
I am trying to post to a URL that is usually used for straight HTTPS posts, could this cause an issue? The only reason we are using the SOAP adapter is to be able to send attachments! Hence, SOAP adapter, no SOAP envelope.

Hi,
Had faced the same issue. The possible reasons were :
1. Either the target server might not be responding.
2. The Target URL configured in the communication channel might be wrong.
3. The port to which the message is being sent might not be opened which you need to cross-verify.
For me the issue was the port, which wasn't enabled from our end. The messages went past successfully once it was enabled.

Receiver SOAP channel error: Communication over HTTPS. Unable to create a socket

Hi,
I am getting following error while sending message from PI (7.1) to SalesForce system:
'SOAP: call failed: java.io.IOException: Communication over HTTPS. Unable to create a socket'
Scenario: Sending Customer data from SAP via Async proxy to PI which is sent further to SalesForce system via SOAP webservice call.
When I am trying to Post data to the same webservice via SOAP UI it is working fine and data is getting updated in SalesForce system.
XPI inspector logs for the channel suggest the following:
client [103965] RequestImpl.initSslAttributes(): Initially sslAttributes = null
client [103965] RequestImpl.initSslAttributes(): Cannot find SSL headers in the request.
client [103965] RequestImpl.initSslAttributes(): No SSL attributes: not found in headers and not searched in FCA, because connection.isSecure() = false; sslAttributes = null
I have checked the following SAP Note and requested for updation of SSL icm parameters
891877 - Message-specific configuration of HTTP-Security
I checked the following discussions:

This is related network issue.
Did you do telnet in pi server with target system ip and port?
If you use https then you need to install certificates.

Can't create a new SOAP receiver adapter

Hi,
I configure a new SOAP receiver adapter in the integration directory and activate the adapter.
When I send trough XI a message to this communication adapter an error occurs in the defaultTrace.trc :
failed to set up the adapter for channel .....;caused by java.lang.NullPointerException
No stacktrace.
I try to set the communication channel inactive and active and also restart the adapter engine but nothing works.
Do someone solve this problem ?

Hi Gerald,
Check the below and see if anything is missing/wrong
( may not be the exact order as below, but you need to reach the last one 'your adapter')
runtime workbench->component monitoring -> Integration Server -> adapter engine ->adapter monitoring (in status tab)-> Soap -> your adapter.
Do the same for your 'sender adpater' also
This may help to identify whats wrong in your settings

Issue while passing Target URL dynamically in SOAP Receiver Adapter

I am stuck with an issue while passing the Target URL dynamically.
The UDF required for this works just fine. I can see the Target URL in Dynamic Configuration header(The Key is TServerLocation) in SXMB_MONI but the request that I am sending is not reaching the web service.
Some posts have suggested to hard code the Target URL as http://.
Below is the error that I am getting when I hard the Target URL as http://:

Issue resolved... by doing this:
DynamicConfigurationKey key2 = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/SOAP", "TAuthKey");
conf.put (key2, "username");
In the advanced tab of the communication channel, set the flag "View Authorization keys", and then added "username" (user to access the dynamic target url) and the password (2 times).
That's it...

Usage of Module processor in SOAP Receiver Adapter

Hi,
I have scenario where I am calling an external Web Service via XI. Unfortunately I need Java Mapping to generate the complete SOAP Message (there are some special header elements required by the Web Service) and flag 'no soap' in the SOAP Receiver Adapter. This works fine, but I have additional Web Service Calls that have the same Header logic and I don't want to use Java Mapping all the time.
I was wondering if it is possible to use graphical User Mapping for the Business Data that goes to the SAOP Body as a payload and use Java code to generate the SOAP Message (actually the SOAP Wrapper and the Header).
Can I do this in XI using the Module processor in the SOAP Receiver adapter or do I have to use two mappigs, one based on the Graphical mapping and another using Java Mapping? Is it feasible at all in XI?

Hi,
You can use Module Processor.
But,
1. If it is a synch call, in when the message is going from the SOAP adapter to the Webservice, you will need to manually Add the SOAP header as you want . ( you will need to create the entire SOAP mesage as the output of the Module ).
2. When the response comes back, the same module will need to remove the SOAP header etc and pass a valid , XML message to the Graphical mapping.
If you have a requirement that some fields of the SOAP header will be needed to be accesed in the Response mapping, then you would need to either add this field to some field in the response payload.
Better option would be to use, Either a Java or a XSL mapping that does all the required stuff for you.

Dynamic URL in SOAP Receiver adapter

Hi all,
I have a scenario where I am using a SOAP receiver adapter to send a cXML document to some vendors. I need to change the URL based on the vendor number (passed by sender SRM system). So I have created a user-defined function and used in message mapping to assign the right URL to the variable TServerLocation. But the communication channel still prompts for a static URL which appears to be a mandatory field. Even though the DynamicConfiguration tab in Message Monitoring shows that the TServerLocation was correctly assigned, the scenario does not work when I put some dummy in the static URL field like 'dummy' or '*'. Any ideas on how to make the communication channel go for the dynamic URL field and ignore the static URL field? I have already selected the'Use Adapter Specific Message attributes' and 'Variable Transport Binding' check boxes. Am I referring to the correct variable that references the target URL? Also other than the two checkboxes that I mentioned, I am not displayed anything else under "Adapter Specific Message Attributes" section in the comm. channel.

I ve just been digging into SAP help, and have tried it too ... Looks like it doesnt work the way it is supposed to.
Anotheer point i found was, in the FILE ADAPTER, when we say ADAPTER SPECIFI ATTRIBUTES , we can select the attirbutes.. This is not possible in a SOAP adapter...
Maybe, we can only access the ADAPTER SPECIIFC ATTIRIBUTES of a SOAP adapter, but cannot set them dynamically.
Let me know if you find something on this issue.

SOAP Receiver Adapter using SSL - PI 7.0

Hi all,
i am currently faced with a .net WCF webservice integration using https via SOAP Receiver Adapter in PI 7.0.
Can anybody tell me into which Visual Administrator view i have to import my certificate in order to get https working ?

It must be the View you have created for your partners. There is usually a Trusted view where you have your own certificate. And there are other views where partners cerificates are stored. There you have to store the certificate.
