Socket connection to a cell phone by using emulator

Hi,
I have been studying on the client-server communication between my cell phone and the emulator.
I want to connect to my cell phone from emulator.
For this reason, I can get my cell phone ip with getLocalAddress() method by using an instance of ServerSocketConnection.
However, my cell phone ip changes constantly(once per second). Because I can't get the true ip of my cell phone at that time, I can't connect to my cell phone from emulator.
Is there anyone who knows what I must do?
Thanks in advance.

How doesn't a cell phone have an IP?
Each cell phone has an IP.
This IP is generally assigned as private by some operators Whereas, some operators assign a public IP to cell phones.
I learned that my operator assigns public IP to cell phones and I wanna try to connect to my cell phone by giving IP address of it.
I can read the IP of my cell phone dynamically. But, my problem is that my cell phone IP changes constantly.
What should I do to make the ip address of cell phone static?
Thanks.

  • Can my Basic LG Cell Phone be used in England?

I will be in England for 2 weeks and would like to make calls within England. Can my cell phone be used? If not, what is a good alternative?

If its an lg basic phone then most likely no.  A lot of the smartphones are gsm capable but most of the basic are not.  They do have a global rental program.  On the verizon website hover over explore at the top and select global services.  It will walk you through putting your info in to let you know your options...hope that helps:)

  • Can't connect Samsung WIFI cell phone to Tmobile using Airport time capsule

I am using Tmobile for cell phone service and Comcast for high speed internet. I am unable to mske a WIFI cell phone connection. I get Tmobile ISP errors. Talked with Tech support from Apple, Tmobile and Comcast.
Took the phone and the time capsule to the local Bridgeport apple store. They managed to get the connection up and running with my router. My phone also worked with their store network. We had to open UDP ports 500 and 4500 both ways and also IP protocols 50 and 51 both ways on the time capsule to make it work.
With the same settings, it does not work at home using Comcast.
    Help is appreciated.

I still can't use it the way I was hoping because it then becomes a T/M back-up disk and not a normal usb/firewire disc.
You are first mounting the drive on the desktop, correct?
Not sure what you mean here.
You can drag/drop files normally or copy/paste files to the drive icon on the desktop, just as you would a normal drive that is displayed on the desktop.
Or, double click the drive icon on the desktop and drag/drop files into the open window there.
Tell us the steps that you are using to mount the drive on the desktop. What happens after each step?

  • Internet connection lost when the phone is used

Have had BT internet for well over a year with no problems, but over the last few days I have experienced problems with losing the internet connection.  I have now pinpointed it to the fact that as soon as the phone is used (receiving or making a call) the internet connection is lost.  Once the phone call is finished, it can take up to a minute before the internet connection comes back (ie. the Broadband sign on the hub is yellow while there is a problem, but after a minute or so after the call is finished it turns blue again).  Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?  There has been no recent changes to hardware or equipment that could be the cause of this.
    Thanks :-)

Probably a line fault, however you need to check that the fault is still present when you plug everything into the master socket, just to prove there is no problem on your internal wiring.

  • Setting up internet connection with a cell phone as modem

Well, I guess you can figure out what this is all about from the title..
Basically, I have a cell phone (Nokia N95 8GB) which I currently use for my internet connection on Windows XP, connected via USB cable. The question is how I would go about setting it up with Arch.. I really have no idea where to start. I have browsed the Wiki and been Googling for ages without much luck. I would therefore be very grateful if someone would point me in the right direction.
My ISP is Telenor, I live in Norway. I already have the details required for a working connection on Windows, would these be very different on Linux? Or, in other words, do I need additional information?
Do I have to use a "dialer" - like wvdial? If so, where do I get that one without a working internet connection?
Also, I have Arch installed on my US pen drive. Is there a recommended way to make my network settings portable between multiple computers, can I e.g. have multiple profiles?

I used to do this with a Nokia N70, and when I plugged in the USB able, the cdc-acm module would autoload and create a /dev/ttyACM0 interface that could be used by ppp. ppp is on the install iso, btw.
netcfg can handle multiple profiles - I haven't used it with dial-up myself though.

  • HT204387 I just updated my Iphone 4S to the new IOS. I have a sync sytem in my car that allows me to connect music and cell phone call through the vehicle. Since the update my phone is no longer finding the sync sytem to connect to.

I just updated my iphone 4s to the new ios update. My car is a sync system that connects through bluetooth. I go to my bluetooth setting to search for devices and it wont find any. I believed it to be that my car that was the problem; but my sister has the same update on her iphone and was able to connect to my car no problem. please help!!!

    Hello 6underwood,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
    iOS: Troubleshooting car stereo connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3581
If you are experiencing difficulties with the connection between your stereo and device, disconnect the device, and then power cycle the stereo and your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad. When the Home screen reappears, reconnect your device. If you cannot power cycle the stereo, turn the car off and then back on to allow the stereo to power off.
    Best of luck,

  • I'm thinking about using an iPad mini with data plan as a cell phone replacement, using Skype for phone service.

Seems like a less expensive alternative, with fewer devices.  Thoughts?

If you want to stay with your current plan, you would have to add 3 tiered data plans for the new smartphones. These would be $30/month(2 GB of data for each phone) for each of the data plans, increasing your bill by $90/month to $226/month for your total bill.
If you were to switch to the Share Everything plan, you would have an access fee of $40 for each of the lines for a total of $120. This would give you unlimited talk and text. On top of the $120, you would have to add a bucket of shared data which ALL of the phones would be able to access. For $80/month, you could get a bucket of 6 GB of data to be shared between all of the phones. So far that would bring your bill to $200/month. With taxes, it should end up being about the same cost as your old plan with the benefit of having unlimited minutes. If you find yourself using less data, you can cut your data cost by lowering the amount of shared data. For example, $70/ month for 4 GB of shared data. If you find yourself using more data, you can add more data, for example $90/month for 8 GB of shared data or $100/month for 10 GB of shared data instead of $80/month for 6 GB of shared data.
If you have any employee discounts available, these would ONLY come off the data portion of the Share Everything plan. Discounts on your current plan would not change if you currently have any.
    Decisions, decisions...

  • Google Voice APP and Google Voice will use cell phone minutes.

My Verizon contract has 1400 minutes shared with 3 cell phones. I noticed that my cell number was using minutes from the calling plan. I normally call the other two cell phones, and my home number (which is on my friends of family calling list). My original intention was to be able to hide behind Google Voice and not allow my cell phone number to be broadcast. Google Voice would use whatever phone number was available on their server, make the call, then connect with my cell phone to complete the connection. I didn't notice that my minutes were being used until after someone else reported that they had exceeded their plan minutes after switching their cell phone to use their Google Voice number for outgoing calls.
I called Verizon concerning this issue, and their only response was to contact the third party.
I have now, and informed my friends, to only use their number and change the Google Voice APP, Making Calls setting to "Do not use Google Voice to make any calls".
Just thought others would like to know.

  • Does Qik use WiFi and Cell phone service ?

At home we have WiFi in the house connected to our Router, which connects to our ISP.
Using an iPhone in our house, using Qik,...will all the vido data use our WiFi connection ?
...to send a new Qik video ?
...to receive a new Qik video ?
If we are out of the house, with no WiFi available, will Qik use our "cell phone network" ?
(Which will use "data minutes" I assume.)
I guess this is separate from "TXT messaging",   and if I have a limit on TXT, that is independent from Qik ?
    Sound correct ?
Just want to have a good idea of when Qik uses each network.
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi,
All depends on the connection type that your phone is using. If you are using WiFi connection with your iPhone at home, then Skype Qik usage - as any other internet usage on the device - will go through WiFi.
When you are out and connected through "mobile internet", then Skype Qik will use this connection for sending/receiving videos.
It does not affect your text messaging limits in any way, as it uses internet connection for sending/receiving videos.
PS. On iPhone (iOS 7 and up), you can actually go to Settings > Cellular to tell the app to use WiFi only, if needed.

  • Connecting Bluetooth on PC to Cell Phone

I have a Satellite L355-S7837 which has Bluetooth installed on a 64 bit. I am trying to connect my LG Cell phone to the computer. The cell phone recognizes the computer but the computer does not recognize the cell phone. On the cell it asks for a code to save the device (PC) but when I put in the code (using 0000) or even another number it says connection failed.
How can I get them to recognize each other and save the connection? Is there another code I should be using? Or are there other instructions I should be using.
Thanks for any help you can give.

To convert a song to another format in iTunes you begin by changing your import settings to the format and bit rate you want, for example MP3 (the lower the bit rate, the smaller the file will be. Bear in mind however that quality also falls with the bit rate). Then highlight the song you want to convert and choose "Convert selection to MP3" from the Advanced menu. Converting creates a second copy of the song in the format you have chosen which gives you the opportunity to either keep or delete the original. You can get details on these pages:
iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format
    How To Choose Import Settings
One exception to this are the standard 128 kbps AAC format songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store which can't be directly converted due to the DRM (Digital Rights Management) copy protection.

  • Need help connecting to Internet via bluetooth'd cell phone

I have my iBook connected to my cell phone (i-mate K-jam) via bluetooth and I'm trying to figure out how to connect to t-mobile gsm so I can get to the internet. I can access the net with my K-jam by itself, I just can't figure out how to do it with my iBook. Has anyone done this and do you have a step-by-step???
    Thanks,
    Tom

Fixed it! I followed this: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?p=6184897#post6184897 The key was to put a fake user name and password. Even though Tmobile doesn't require it, I had to put something in. d for user and u for password works...anything will work.

  • File Connection and Socket Connection in nokia 7710

    Hello,
i want to transfer some data from my PC to Nokia 7710 either using File Transfer or socket connection
For file transfer, where do i need to put my file i.e. which files does nokia 7710 allow j2me programs to access? Is is ok if the file i transfer is a plain txt file? i am using jsr 75 api for reading from the file, so what file location will i give in my program, in Nokia 7710, there are two memory drives Device and Memory Stick, so how can i access these files via a j2me program running on the cell?
If i use socket connection, how will the phone recognize PC's ipaddress? Do i need to configure it? Also my Nokia 7710 is connected to the PC via a cable attached to USB port, so what port numbers do i specify in my j2me client program that will run on the phone and normal java server program that will run on the PC

But when i instal this socket example into my phone on nokia n78 (Also on nokia 5800) it's not working didn't connect to socket server.. On phone I'm using wi-fi internet. Can anybody help me with this problem? I hear it's need to modify manifest file and set appreciate pressions like this
    MIDlet-Permissions: javax.microedition.io.Connector.socket,javax.microedition.io.Connector.file.write,javax.microedition.io.Connector.ssl,javax.microedition.io.Connector.file.read,javax.microedition.io.Connector.http,javax.microedition.io.Connector.https
    is it true?
can anybody suggest me how can i solve this problem?
where can I read full information about socket connection specifiecs in j2me?
    Thanks.

    Maybe this can be helpful:
you can check there the Datagram interface anda DatagramConnection interface and learn a little about that.
If the client example runs fine in the wireless toolkit emulator, it should run the same way in your phone; i suggest to try to catch some exception that maybe is hapenning and display it on a Alert screen, this in the phone.

This one is tough - Unfortunately Korea is one of the few countries that also uses CDMA2000 for some of their networks (same technology as Sprint/Verizon) - CDMA2000 phones tend not to be very portable from carrier to carrier.
However - some carriers in Korea might use a GSM network.
However, so far, most of the info I can find indicates that Korea uses CDMA2000 in a band that doesn't match anything used by Sprint or Verizon in the United States.  It looks like you might need to purchase a phone from a Korean carrier.
The one exception seems to be http://www.worldtimezone.com/gsm.html - According to this, SK Telecom in Korea has UMTS service in the 2100 MHz band, so the majority of unlocked GSM phones will work.  e.g. an unlocked AT&T or T-Mobile phone may work (exception:  The HTC Inspire 4G lacks UMTS2100, some other AT&T smartphones also might.) if you can obtain an SK Telecom SIM.
Korea is a bit weird in that SK is probably the only carrier I've ever seen to transition from a CDMA2000 EV-DO network to HSPA...  In short, you probably picked the WORST destination country possible to find an international phone for!
