Software analog VI in LabVIEW 8.0

I have an old PCI-6036E card. In LabVIEW 7 it is possible to trigger an acquisition using the  AI Waveform scan VI, which is capable of performing a "software analog" triggering. Is there something similar in LabVIEW 8.0 ?

Hello,
I'm sending to you a link with an example of analog trigger through software. Once the files on the link are not for your LabVIEW version I'm attaching here the same VIs for the version 8.0 of LabVIEW.

  • Using analog outputs in labview with

I have recently started using the USB personal measurement device PMD1208-LS from measurement computing with labview. I am having problems with using the analog outputs in labview i keep getting error message 41 "This function can not be used with this board" The outputs are working fine when tested with the supplied software but not when using the Aout vi in labview. has anybody else had problems with this and know how to resolve them? I have the analog inputs all working fine in labview.
    Thanks

I have used the PMD12208FS and I used this vi to use the analog outputs for it.  I obtained it from Measurment Computing ftp site.  The data value is in mV.  Hope this helps.

    Hi,
I am trying to build a LabView FPGA VI. During compilation, I always get error stating "LabVIEW FPGA:  An internal software error in the LabVIEW FPGA Module has occurred.  Please contact National Instruments technical support at ni.com/support".  At the time, comiplation process is almost at the end.  "Final Timing (place and route)" shows as completed. When Checked the Xilinx log session, at the end it states that "  Process "Generate Programming File" completed successfully". However, I do not see any generated bitfile.
When clicked on error details, it shows following:

  • Analog filtering with Labview versus electronic filtering

I have been into signal conditioning with LabView. I want to discuss with you guys software conditioning versus hardware coditionin, especially filterinf (i.e. bandpas filtering) an analog signal. Is there anybody out there who uses LabView for sotware conditinin and/or who compared software conditioning (implementing bandpass filter in Labview) to hardware conditioning (filter the signal electronically before data acquisition)? How satisfactory are LabView results?
Thank you guys. I am looking forward to reading your ideas.

If all your signals are well within the sampling rate of your digitizer, digital filtering is OK. Analog filtering is required if the raw signal contains frequcies that are higher than the Nyquist frequency, because they would show up aliased to lower frequecies and no digital filter will later be able to differentiate them from a real frequencies.

  • Labview 5 software migration to modern labview and pc

    Hi,
I have been stuck with trying to move a labview software from an old windows 98 pc to a newer windows 7 32-bit pc. The old windows 98 pc was running labview 5 for this software and it uses a PCI-GPIB/+ card to send and read data to some camac modules. This software has a few packages that it depends on such as NI spy, NI 488.2 1.7, T&M explorer. Currently if I try to run the software with the converted VI's by using labview 8 as an intermediate step errors out on the initial part where it tries to find the 488.2 interface card. I have however installed the drivers for this newer version of labview 2014 32-bit but still no luck. Has anyone had a similar problem or has any advice on how I would migrate this software succesfully? I do not really want to re-do the entire program as there is no time for it. This is a really confusing issue for me since I never used such old hardware and software combination. Please let me know if you would like more information.
    Kind regards.

    Hi Dennis Knutson,
Thank you for getting back to me. I have attached the error message, I am currently using NI-488.2 14.0 for my GPIB solutions. I have also attached the VIs in a zipped folder with the required libraries. The main VI is banc-test-cables-Atlas-CERN-2006-02-21. Please let me know if you require more information.
    Kind regards.

    Bonjour,

  • Analogic acquisition with Labview and National Instruments card

I need to acquire 2 analogic signals simultaneously. I use version 4

card (BNC-208x). I want to save the 2 signals in a text file. Does
anyone could send to me a diagram (vi) for doing that.
    Thank you very much.
    (my email: [email protected])

True simultaneous sampling is possible with only a few types of DAQ cards. I believe BNC-208x is like the current BNC-2xxx series and is nothing more than a adaptor to the actual DAQ card inside the PC. If you can live with the small delay between channels that the majority of DAQ boards has, then there are a number of shipping examples that can help you. Look for the Cont Acq&Graph examples and Data Logger to Spreadsheet File.

  • How can I Create a software analog trigger for a counter (6602)

    Hi ?
I need a software trigger (variable trigger level) for a rising trigger slope of a PWM signal.
So is there any possibility to start the PWM measurement at a special PWM-voltage level?
Or could I at, in front of the Counter an AnalogIn and generate there a fast (< 1?s?) RTSI signal for the counter?

It's simple! You made an error in the configuration of your Call Library Node. It could be a number of reasons but the two most likely ones are that you get a variable wrong to be passed by Value while it should be by Reference or vice versa, or that you call the function which expects a buffer it can write in the results (the image frame is a likely candiate) and didn't create a large enough buffer in LabVIEW to be passed to the function.
I actually think this last one is by far the most likely reason here and in fact the number 1 error done by most people that try to interface to a DLL through the Call Library Node. DLLs come from the C world and want to be called like that and one important rule there is that memory buffers to be filled, must always be created by the caller. This is different in LabVIEW itself since LabVIEW manages all the memory for you and allocates it whenver necessary but this can't work for calling DLLs as LabVIEW has ABSOLUTELY no way to know what a DLL function might need as memory buffer.
You can create such a buffer by either executing the Initialize Array function with the correct parameters or in LabVIEW 8.2 you can directly configure array and string parameters in the Call Library Node configuration to create the necessary buffer. I prefer the Initialize Array variant since the other one is a LabVIEW 8.2 only feature and creates a fixed size buffer while for your frame buffer you will likely have to allocate a memory buffer whose minimum size depends on the bitmap format and bitmap size the function is going to return.

    David,
I am not actually interfacing with the WS-7L via LabView, but rather have a separate program running provided by the manufacturer. I ended up reinstalling LabView 8.5 this morning, since for some reason that seems to fix bizarre problems like this, and that seems to have done the trick. I really shouldn't have to resort to that, though, so if someone has a better explanation for what happens to require a reinstall, I'd be happy to hear it.

    Thank you for your post.
In order to keep the power of the board to a minimum, and to keep our prices very competitive, our customers use software triggering for applications such as impact hammer test.  We are happy to coach your development team in the implementation of software analog triggering in LabVIEW, Our Sound and Vibration Assistant, or with our "C" Api.  I have asked our Product Support Engineer to post a note regarding the "C" api function calls.  Stay tuned.

  • How can I create software start and stop trigger in LabView using 6023E series DAQ card? I don't want to use the external trigger.

I am using 6023E DAQ card to collect the signals, such as AE, Force, Torque from the machine. I want to collect only some part of signal for example between start triger and stop trigger. I'd like to know how I can creat those triggers in LabView from one of the channels that I am acquiring at the same time. I found one or two library file that is only for start trigger. I know that this is availabe in some of DIAdem functions. Please let me know if you have done some example for this requirement.

If you are wanting to create a software trigger based on an analog input voltage in LabVIEW, there are several options. One suggestion would be to compare the voltage values from one input channel to a number within a loop. If the input voltage crosses that threshold (is greater than the number), have a case statement that will acquire data from the other channels. This would simulate a software start trigger in LabVIEW.
