Software as a Service and MySQL database

Hi all,
We are a young, new company on the market. We are starting to open up new markets in other countries (Europe).
It somewhat is a challenge for us: we can't share our data and mysql database between all our different services. So here is my question: do you think it would be possible to find an ETL program that could work in the cloud?
It would not have to be too complex, but sturdy and working as a Software as a Service.

Try the following changes, you can escape from this exception:
1) In the employeelist.jsp, change the name attribute to "USER instead of "employees" as follows

Question on Installing Reporting Services and its Databases ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB

Is it possible to have the Reporting Services installed on one server\machine and the databases ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB on a different server\machine?
I have always installed both on the same machine but this architecture is being suggested.
I know that you can install the services without the databases on an instance but how do you install just the databases without the services on an instance?

Based on the current description, I understand that you want to install Reporting Services on one machine, and install Report Server and ReportServerTempDB databases on another machine.
I think it’s not supported that installing only the databases related to Reporting Services on an instance without Reporting Services. From the document: Create a Report Server Database, we can need the Reporting Services Configuration Manager tool to create
Report Server databases.
In Reporting Services, there is scale-out deployment which refers to two or more report server instances that share a single report server database. They are used to increase scalability of report servers to handle more concurrent users and larger report execution
loads. And it can also be used to dedicate specific servers to process interactive or scheduled reports.

Crystal Reports 2008 Server and MySQL DataBase source for reports

Hello,
I am having an issue with crystal reports server 2008. I have created a report on my local machine with crystal reports and the datasource is a ODBC connection to a MySQL database.
The report works fine on my local. if i publish to the Crystal Reports Server, i get an error when i try and run the report.
"error Failed to open the connection. "
I have gone into the database connections for this report and put in the connection details. I have also created a ODBC connection on the server in windows to the actual database (installed both the 32bit and 64bit ODBC drivers, both Test succesfully). But when i go into crystal no matter what settings i try it will not work.
anyone have any ideas?

I have solved the issues. This may be usefull for anyone ...
1. Make sure on the developer machine you have your ODBC connection setup under the System DNS setting in windows.
2. On the Crystal Report Server, the exact same setup must be done under System DNS, same name, etc
Once this was done, everything was fixed.

JAVA WEB SERVICE AND ORACLE DATABASE

I working with Oracle database 10g, Oracle Bpel 10.1.2.0 and JDeveloper 10g on windows xp home.
I have created a java class with incapsulated sql statement (jdbc protocol).
All it's ok when the class runs from command line (JCreator).
After that i created the web service from java classes (with JDeveloper) and I connected (with success) database to OC4J and run the web service, i have this xml message like result:

Java web start and MySQL database

My application needs to connect to a database wich is inth server. When a user is connecting some specific information are dowlonding from the database. Is it possible to do this with java web start?

best would be to have a app. server running and clients reading urls or should use EJB.
You will have problems if any firewall is set up on the server side making direct sql calls to db, for example.

Hyperion EPM: Will Oracle Express suffice for Shared Services and Registry?

Hi.
I'm trying to install Hyperion EPM on Linux to make use of the Hyperion Interactive Reporting server components to allow report scheduling, web delivery of reports, etc. My data sources will all be MySQL. I'm at the point where I'm attempting to use the EPM Configurator for setting up Shared Services and Registry Database Connection. It seems my options for choosing a database on which to allow Shared Services and Registry data to reside are limited to 3: Oracle, SQL Server or DB2 (noticeably absent is MySQL)
So, it looks like I'm going to have to install an Oracle DB instance at the very least.
My question is this:
Can I get away with just installing Oracle Express for the Shared Services and Registry or will I have to install a full blown Oracle DB instance?

Hi, I confirm that you can use Oracle Express for Shared services and registry. We have installed the complete EPM platform on a single virtual machine using Oracle Express. It’s interesting to use it because Oracle Express use less resource. We can run this virtual machine on a computer that only have 4GB of RAM and get good performance (for a single user).
I recommend using it for proof-of-concept and Bootcamps.

How to i solve the error? I look at he catch results in the command prompt of JBoss , i found that when running, the code will be caught by the exception and display this:int.java:527)

How to connect to mysql database using a proxy

Folks,
I wrote a program to connect to both webpage and mysql databases. Because my internet has a firewall (proxy) I set up the internet connection like this:

BM 3.9 audit log on different servers (and different databases)

after migrating from bm3.8 to bm3.9 we intalled Rule Hit Logging with naudit
and mysql-database.
we do have two bm3.9 servers connected with a WAN-Link.
So we do want to keep the logs on the servers an do not want to log over the
WAN-Link.
We installed mysql on each server and configured for each server a separate
Notification and Channel object in iManager.
Still one server logs now to both databases (on both sides of the
WAN-Link).
Can anybody tell me what i have missed???

Mysql database, counting records

Hi!
I have to store measured data to MySQL database. During this process I would like to count a number of records in a database table. It is also necessary to filter records. I'm using the SQL statement as follows:
SELECT COUNT (fieldname) AS cnt FROM table WHERE condition
Because I haven't got any result I've created a small database "mysweetdb" and table "icecream" to test my VIs (see picture bellow).
The VI is attached. The result of counting is a 2D array (DB Tools Fetch Recordset Data.VI output) with one element (one row and one column). This element contains no data.
I usually don't give up easily so I've created a similar MS ACCESS database and counted data in it. I've got a correct answer: 3. So it might be possible that there is something wrong with MySQL driver. But I've created a small Delphi project and I've counted records in MySQL database and MS ACCESS database. Both results were correct.
Can anyone explain where is the problem in communication between LabView and MySQL database?
Versions: XAMPP for Windows 1.7.3, LabView Developer Suite 2010 SP1, MySQL 5.1 ODBC driver

thank you for your answer. An updated version of my VI is attached. It uses two options: LabSQL library and DB Connectivity Toolkit. LabSQL gives correct results.

Unable to connect JSP and MySQL

I've started developing web pages using JSP
I've the problem connecting JSP and MySQL database. I've created the page that retrive records from mysql table. But the connection fail to access to database it gives me this error:

Yes It is true that my MySQl installation its username is root. So how should put that in the url. Cause I did that but it didn.t work

CSV datasource vs Building universe on MYSQL database

Hello
Does anyone know what are the advantages and disadvantages of using excel spreadsheet (CSV file) as a data source to build a report in webi rich client VS migrating the same spreadsheet (CSV file) in to MYSQL database and then build a universe on top of it in order to build a webi reports.
I have a huge data in CSV file which I can use in rich client to make reports but I have an option to transfer this data into MYSQL and then build universe on top of this database and then start building reports.
I would appreciate if you advise your expert opinion on this and way how would I approach this scenario.
Also if you can advise me that how would data gets synchronize in both cases when there is any update records (delta records) in either CSV file as a data source and MYSQL database as a data source.

Hi,
You can Transfer the (.csv)data using Import Export Wizard/SSIS transformations to MYSQL database. It is very easy to transform and if the new data comes it will overwrite all the data from CSV to MySQL.
Next create a universe using OLEDB Data Source. It will Synchronize the data when updates comes. Just refresh the tables when you are creating the unv.

Applets, RMI, and mySQL OH MY!

This is not gonna be easy to explain, but I will try....
1) I have successfully created an RMI applet client, and I can access the mySQL database on another server that has both the RMI server and the mySQL together. So this works great.
2) On further experiment, I have another server that hosts only the mySQL database and not the RMI server. I host the RMI server on the same system as the RMI applet client, including the mySQL driver jar file; the code is exactly the same as in (1) as far as the client/server RMI goes because I pass the host:port information through the client to the RMI server which within invokes the mySQL database connections/queries.
I find that this fails.
The RMI client does connect successfully to the RMI server, but
the RMI server cannot make the call to connect to the remote database.
The error I received is:
java.net.SocketException
MESSAGE: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect
Ok, I am thinking that since I am running an applet and thus in a sandbox, I had assumed that as far as the applet is concerned, the
RMI client/server is LOCAL and it is no business of the applet to be
concerned with what the RMI server chooses to do internally, right?
I mean, in (1) above it all works fine as the RMI server and mySQL
database is on the same system so everything is LOCAL - but in
(2) above - seperating the RMI server from the database is not the
same thing - thus breaks the sandbox rules?

Gah.... Never mind. I solved my issues. I thought I seperated
the logic of the RMI host information from the database connectivity
information and it turns out that I didn't.
I thought it was Monday but it is Friday obviously at least in locale PST
