Software for recording LPs

I'm searching for a decent program for recording LPs and transferring them to CD through iTunes. I had a good program on my PC that had excellent scratch and pop filters, but it doesn't work with OS X. Any recommendations for good, not-too-expensive programs? Must connect via a stereo cable from my stereo system.

I wanted to run the files through a scratch and pop filter if possible
Final Vinyl has some good filters when you import before adding to iTunes. It's easy to get carried away with the filters so don't attempt to do too much.
before committing them to CD
Getting them onto the computer is the difficult part (and it's not really that difficult).
In iTunes, burning a CD is as simple as creating a playlist then click Burn.
You can tweak the files as much/little as you want before you burn them to a CD.
"Committing them to CD" sounds so final. If you don't like it, you can always burn another.

  • Software for recording audio streams?

Is there a recommended software for capturing audio and converting to mp3?

    Hi everyone -
I was using Audacity (freeware) for recording streaming audio and able to edit or convert at will . However for Mac ( being a new user) I am not sure what software is suitable. Recently bought an iSoundStudio from Apple but find the functions extremely restricted. Appreciated very much if  someone out there can recommend a good one similar to audacity. BTW, audacity has the Mac version but my system blocked the download,

  • Software for recording video with built in i-sight for new macbooks mbp?

Does any software exist that will allow a macbook or a macbook pro user to record video with their built in isight camera at the top of the screen? If so, let me know. I need to document countless hours of reading the forums...

iMovie will allow you to record from your built in iSight as well.
Lastly, Conference Recorder will allow you to record iChat video conversations. It can be found here: http://www.ecamm.com/mac/conferencerecorder/

  • I have a new (mid) 2011 imac and want to transfer my old records to itunes but i dont know what usb turntable would be best for a new mac that would have compatible software for ripping to itunes?

i have a mid 2011 i5 imac and i want to transfer my vinyl records to itunes but i dont know what usb turntable would be best for my imac that has compatible software for transfer to itunes

    Hallo,
I use an Akai usb turntable with the Audacity sw delivered with it. To monitor during recording I also use the LineIn utility (all this on a Macbook Pro with Mavericks).
It works fine, only the input volume of the usb audio port cannot be adjusted (at least I did not yet discover how to do it) and the volume of the music is lower than other music imported into iTunes from CD or iTunes store, but still acceptable.

  • Is Logic Pro the Best Audio Recording Software for Mac?

Couple questions. I do a lot of audio production and work currently. I use a gateway with Cubase, and its not bad, but I feel like I need something mroe high end.
I'm looking at the 17 inch Imac. Does anyone record using this computer? How's it sound? Is there any way to put in a new soundcard or something if i don't like the current one?
Secondly, is logic pro the most advanced and best audio recording software for the mac? Are there others as well?
I know about Pro Tools, but it seems like there isn't anything high end enough that is TOO high end.
Does the Pro version have superior mixing capabilties. I am primarily going to be micing a guitar amp and having a mixer run into a firewire port, and also using a preamp for my guitar direct into the computers USB.
Lastly, how are the mixing features on Logic Pro vs. Logic Express? I do a lot of post production mixing as well, and use VST plugins. Speaking of that, will it accomodate using a drum program like BFD through VST or Midi like Cubase will?
    Thanks for your time guys.

Yes, you do indeed need sth more high end.

It's not an iMac, but a faithful PowerBook G4 that I am using. Apples Core Audio is awesome. Your sound, however, will depend on your interface.

That's why we are here, and that's why you ended up in this forum as well
To me personally, Logic sounds warmer and bigger than any ProTools system I've ever heard. From what yopu described as the work you need to do, there is no comparable application. Logic also offers you many more features above and beyond what you currently need to do.
I know about Pro Tools, but it seems like there isn't

Everybody is using PT, and you should maybe get a Light Edition version of it. However, as stated above, Logic offers by far more possibilities.

For your purpose, Logic does have superior mixing capabilities. In my humble opinion, only the popularity of PT made it become the choice of studios and engineers, but things are turning...

If you do post production mixing, forget about Logic Express altogether and go for Logic Pro. LP will accomodate tons of plug-ins, and it comes with a bunch of great one's as well!
The format for the plug-ins is called A(udio) U(nit) and works flawlessly. Many VST plug-ins are also available in AU format and the development of those is moving fast forward.
In other words, yes, you will be able to use BFD in Logic by means of the AU format.
    Thanks for your time guys.
    You're welcome.

  • Best Screen Recording Software for Mac?

Looking for recommendations on a good computer screen recording program, as I'm trying to make a tutorial video, and need to be able to record what I am doing on my computer screen.
Would prefer free, but don't mind paying a bit - quality is most important. Any advice would be appreciated - thanks!

    without doubt - Screenflow
    why ?
because, it is not only a 'grabber', but it includes an 'editor', drop-dead-simple as iMovie, which includes many features ESPECIALLY made for tutorials - e.g. you can zoom-in after recording without quality-loss, you can change cursor-size, highlite, 'print' pressed keys on screen, add a pic-in-pic (if you like your face in your tuts ) ..
    side-note: screen-grabs are off the standards, iM or FinalCut/express support! so, a built-in editor is a ++ ! (the exports/uploads from a SF-project are superb!)
not cheap, but worth every cent!

  • Recording Software for WVC210G ip camera

    Hi all,
I have an issue with finding the Camera  Recording software.
we purchased the ip camera WVC210G and was searching  for the Camera Recording software 'L-VM300-04'  for viewing 4 Cameras.
But from Cisco and Distributor we came to know that the product has the EOL(End of Life)
So it would be great if anybody can  suggest the equivalent software for the same
    Regards,
    Sooraj

    Hi Sooraj,
Thank you for posting. The Video Monitoring Software is developed by Nuuo: http://www.nuuo.com/
I believe that they have a similar product to L-VM300-04 and you can license the software from them if you can no longer obtain a license for the Cisco product.

  • I'm looking for software for my iMac to use to copy old VHS movies onto DVD and old records (digital turn table) in CDs.  Recommendations please?

I'm looking for software for my iMAC to use to copy old VHS movies from a VCR into DVDs and records from my digital turn table into CDs.  Any recommendations?

For the VHS movies, try googling Elgato - they make a number of USB devices that are supposed to be able to do this, but check what formatting options they offer : you will want a device that converts directly into .MOV files (to play in QuickTime), or into H.264 for iTunes / iPods, etc.
As for the vinyl records - first you need a device that will convert the analogue output (phono) into a digital form and will connect via FireWire or USB. The Griffin iMic is one such USB device (if still available?). From there you can use the free Audacity download to read in the signal and convert to a suitable format, e.g. MP3. (You will need to use SysPrefs / Sound to switch to an external audio device, instead of your Mac's built-in mic.)
(Wait - you said "digital turntable" - software already on your Mac? How do you use a virtual turntable to play vinyl?? Unless what you really mean is an analogue turntable that has a CD writer in it, or a USB connection to connect the turntable's DAC output to a computer?? In which case, either use your turntable to burn  CDs, or connect via USB and the free Audacity software to convert the signal to music tracks and output as MP3.

I saw few video recording software for iphone but it support only jailbreaken iphones.is there any software for non-jailbreaken iphone?
    Regards
    Jo

I have an iPhone 3GS which includes video recording, so have no experience of any video recording Apps.
The only thing I know is that apparently they are all limited to 15 frames-per-second recording, due to the slower processor speed of the iPhone 3G.

No one here is going to do anything about it. Send feedback to Apple.

  • Screen Recording Software For Mac

    Hello
I'm looking for Screen Recorder software for 10.4 - I understand there's a version of Quick Time which actually has a built-in feature to enable 'on-screen' recording.  I would also pay for such a software program.
I searched the internet and came up with this, (10.4 Min Syst. Requirement).
    http://www.nchsoftware.com/capture/index.html?gclid=CjwKEAjw0q2pBRC3jrb24JjE8VgS JAAyIzAd2x1gOSnPArra1lqkyYzWULASUpCYYvJ007VdBLy9exoC19zw_wcB
Has anyone tried this, or knows where there's a decent program?
    Thanx for your help!
    Mike

That is the cheapest I've seen, but beware...
    * During installation of this download you will be given the option to install Google® Chrome and closely related programs from the NCH Software suite. These are optional and you can select what you want depending on your requirements.
Likely adware as well as the Chrome spyware, & very well may be Intel 10.4 & above only.
I think Quicktime Pro had such an option, good luck finding that though!

  • Why can't I enable an audio track for recording? (It won't let me)

I want to record VO but PP won't let me...
On Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite in System Preferences:
    • Sound Input is set to C-Media USB Headphone Set (an Alesis usb mic...works fine for VO in Final Cut Pro 7)
    • Output is set to Headphone port
In Premiere Pro CC Audio Hardware Preferences:
    • ASIO Hardware is set to "System Default Input/Output"
    • I have also tried "C-Media USB Headphone Set but this, too, doesn't work
    • With "System Default I/O" selected, Output Mapping is set to "Adobe Desktop Audio" (only choice), and shows:
         • "Built-in Output: Headphones 1
         • "Built-in Output: Headphones 2
         • "C-Media USB Headphone Set: Front Left
         • "C-Media USB Headphone Set: Front Right
all four of these have a couple of square icons to the right.
In order to record VO, I first need to "enable track for recording" in the Audio Track Mixer. There are no in or out points set in my timeline and the tracks are not locked or solo'd or anything. So why can't I select the audio track I want to use to record VO? I click it but there is no response. I just want to know why this software is not doing what it's designed to do.

is I learn still around -? That was VERY HANDY!

  • SB Audigy 2ZS Plarinum Pro: setting source for recording

    Hello!
I am having problems setting the source for recording. I want to set the recording source from 'Wave' (default) to 'Line-In /Mic'. After doing so with the mixer or the MediaSource Player it resets to 'Wave' after some time. Why? Can I force the software to make 'Line-In /Mic' the default setting? It really dri'ves me nuts to see that the source has changed without me being notified. I want to have the source changed only by myself and not by some cozmic radiation, God's will, voodoo magic and whatnot.
    Greetings
    ClustalW

<Re: SB Audigy 2ZS Plarinum Pro: setting source for recording? Okay ClustalW, I understand the "Default" problem you are having. So can you go to control panel, and sound and there look at your recording devices and tell me what do you see? If your desired device is there, you can choose it as the default and then throughout the rest of windows, this will be THE global default recording device or the first choice, when you are in other programs to record from. Also, make sure your device is plugged in when making this change. On my system with that board, a few years ago, I could make the choice, but it would always pick something else when the source was unplugged. For example, if I were using the front bay inputs as recording, when I would unplug them and reboot, my system picked the next thing as default.
Next go into to your Creative Control panel and do the same thing there. Theoretically your choices should be linked, but this is not always the result. I can choose mine in Vista and windows 7, but lastly I always go to the Creative mixer applet and do it there and that works best. For me, my default is my front panel Mic or Microphone FP but as soon as I unplug it, it wants to make my back mic jack the default.
