Solution Directory--Business process --Check in /Out option

Dear Friends,
I am working in Solution directory (t.code: DSWP). I have created one maintenance project. In this maintenance project i have maintained the following business process.
1. Sale Order Processing
2. Production Order Processing.
These two business processes are currently running in my R/3 production process.
In SOLAR01 , "admin" tab i have assigned project team member as "ZSRAGHU" for business process 'Sale Order Processing"
Like the same way, for business process "Production order Processing" i have assigned the project team member as "ZSRAO".
In SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN t.code, i have checked in the box "Restrict changes to nodes in project to assigned team members" so that only assigned team member can edit the business process.
Now i have assigned this maintenance project to my Solution. (The name of my Solution is "TEST")
As per the help.sap.com document, if the business process has been "checked Out" from Solution directory by the project lead, then only the team mmeber can edit the process in SOLR01.
Am i right?
But in my system, the team members are possible to edit the business process (In SOLAR01..."Structure" tab) before the business process are being "Checked Out" from Solution directory.
I want to restrict this option to my team members.
My requirement is:
If the Business process been "Checked out" in Solution, then only the team member can able to edit the business process in SOLAR01 otherwise i can not preserve my production business process....
Please guide me to achive this & will be very much rewarded.
Note:
In "SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN" under "Scope" tab, check in the box "Edit structures" will NOT help to map this requirement as all aware.
Regards
Senthil

Dear Senthil,
By Business Process 'Check Out', I hope you are talking of the 'Document' attached at Process level and not the Process itself, as in the structure.
I can understand your frustration about the indicator "Restrict changes to nodes in project to assigned team members" not working.
As mentioned in the online help, did you try to work your way through Authorisation Object "AI_SA_TAB" ?
Is it due to some other authorisation that users have, which 'supersedes' this authorisation object ? Did you check any SAP Note for this object ?
If nothing else works, can you try to introduce a 'Custom Status' and use the following IMG setting to restrict it by users:
SAP Solution Manager -> Configuration -> Scenario-Specific Settings -> Cross-scenario Settings -> Document Management -> Status for Documents -> Assign Status Values for Read Authorisation
This may be a workaround !

Srini

  • Business process check-in/check-out - who has checked out and when?

We have been using the business process check-in/check-out functionality for 18 months and there are an increasing number of process's that have been checked out to the maintenance project and never checked in again. Is there a straight forward way in the system to see who had checked out a business process and when? When using the SOLMAN_DIRECTORY transaction it is easy to see which process's are checked out as they are marked the red OUT symbol and have check-out status = checked out - but no other information about the check-out seems to be available either in this transaction or on a separate report.

    Hello Steve,
What Peter neglected to tell you is once you enable history on the Solution a history log will begin to populate.
It will show as the standard "Log" icon for HISTORY. Every change will be logged at each level of the structure.
Here is an example of a History log line....while it is not a check-in.out change it will give you an idea
Name             Date             Time              Change                               Object                           Old Value           New Value
    I809573     24.01.2011     22:33:32     Process Availability     Material Management          7 x 24 h
What you can do is filter the report on the values that will give you the check-in/check out against the objects you want to track.
This is how you can use the "Enable History" to get the information you are interested it.
Just two things to be aware of : 1) The history will not be retro active (unless it was already enabled), so it will start from the day you enable logging (history), and logs take up space, which at some point maintenance will likely be required, however I don't see these logs having high disk usuage.
If it were documents that you wanted a report on check-in/check-out for, you likely could use the transaction Solar_Eval under Documents, but there are no standard reports for this...and filtering the History log file accordingly is about the best reporting
that would give a result. This log file can be printed, or you could capture the printoutput to a file and there is your Electronic version of the report.
    I hope this has helped.

    Paul

  • Solution Directory - Business Scenario

    Hello,
I am trying to find the job management - job monitoring scenario under SAP ERP. I had everything set up under SAP ECC and still can see it there. But now that I switched my systems to SAP ERP, I would like to select it there, but cannot find it. I can still see the job management to be selected for SAP ECC.
Where do these scenarios (Business process repository) come from? We are on Solution Manager SPS 20.
    Thanks,
    Ingrid

One possible solution is to enable the checkin and checkout process with approval workflow active to ensure that misuse of access does not occur.

  • Solution Manager to test business process

    Hi all,
Has anbody used solution manager for testing business processes in SRM??if so how??We ahev Solution manager configured for SRM but I dont know how to test the SRM business processess through SM???
    Please advise.

    Hi Rejin,
You have to first create a Test Configuration for your test script. This you can do by going into your test script from TCODE "SECATT" and follow the menu path Utilities/Test Configuration/Create, this will create a Test Configuration with the same name as your script. Now you can goto to the Solution Manager business process and enter you Test Configuration in the Test Case Tab.

  • Business Process Documentation

    Dear All
    Business Process Documentation
I just want to know foloowing thing sabout Business Process Documentation.
do yuo know where there any documents about Business Process Documentation and system log ?
Edited by: Koji Watanabe on Feb 16, 2012 1:52 AM

    Hellow Watanabe-san
Could you explain little bit mroe about what you are looking
    for ?
Are you looking for the way to document Business Process in SolMan ?
    Or
Are you looking for the way to monitor your business process in
    the backedn system ?
The link that vasanthgobi mentioned is the SAP help on business
    process monitoring.
    Documentation topic
In SAP Solman, you can document your business process in following
2 area. Project area and Solution area. Project area is mainly used
for implementation phase or initial documentation. Solution area is
    used for operation phase.
And to support the documentation, SAP Solman provides several
supporting tools for project area (you can copy the document in
    project area to solution later).
In SolMan 7.1, if you want to document your business process,
    you may have following possibility.
(General motivation for the documentation, please refer to the
    this blog http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/27054.
    And service Market Place
      http://service.sap.com/esacademy  (login in english)
      =>meet the expert =>Replay  Library.
      =>SAP Solution manager =>Solution Documentation )
1.Upload via EXCEL (initial upload) and adjust in project area
<Create templete via project, and create excel content locally
      and upload to project area>
2.Maintain business process by using Business Blue print function
<Using more graphical instead of SolMan screen>
      Also refer to these blogs
      http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/28304
      http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/27212
And service market place link (webinar)
      http://service.sap.com/esacademy  (login in english)
      =>meet the expert =>Replay  Library.
=>SAP Solution manager =>Business Process Blueprint
3.Start initial documentation using RBPD content and adjust it in
    project area
<SAP and IBIS develop analysis content based on the business
process repository. By using this content, you can execute
analysis for ERP and can get process utilization info.
And you can create initial process from this>.
      Also refer to these blogs
      http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/26074
      And service market place link
      http://service.sap.com/rbpd
    4.Document manually in project area
    (Also ARIS integration is possible).
In above case, if you use RBPD content, yes, you have some step
related to the backend system (collecting process execution statistic
in ERP). But in other case, you do not have any activity to ERP.
For RBPD, it collects the data by using job, and you can control
the number of WP to be used. The runtime will be depending your
    ERP system size.
    Business Process Monitoring topic
In SolMan, there are business process monitoring functionality.
Actually, it is not only the monitoring, but also you can use it
    for business process improvement.
Basically in business process monitoring related tools,
    there are 2 main tools
1.Business Process Monitoring tool - Monitoring
2.Business Process Analytics tool - Analysis & benchmarking
    (Also there are dashboard).
Business Process Monitorings enables monitoring of your core
business process from technical and application side.
The tool can monitor specific job(normal job/BW process chain),
interface(IDoc, tRFC, qRFC etc), performance, and also different
types of transaction document like sales order, delivery,
    purchase order, production ordet etc.
For transaction monitoring, there are pre-defined template
    (best practice).
Also it allows to monitor any table (z/y-table also).
And the Analytics tool is the tool based on the BW.
By using this, you can do benchamarking, trend analysis,
    backlog analysis.
In more, I highly recommend to check the series of blog
    by Volker. And FAQ document.

    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/SM/FAQBusinessProcess+Monitoring
There are configuration document in service market place also.

    Hope this helps you.

  • Setup Business Process monitoring does nothing

    Hi BPM Experts,
i am new to BPM and trying to launch the setup of Business processing from Solman_workcenter. I have provided all appropriate roles and have configured the system in SMSY. I have completed the Creation of the solution and documented the business process via transaction dswp. now when i click on "Setup Business Process Monitoring" it asks me to select the active solution, i select the solution i had created and then i expect it to launch another session but it does nothing" did i miss something.
    regards
    Yogi

    Hi Yogi,
After choosing a Solution you have created it should display a new SAP window showing "Change "Setup BPM -  "". If you are not getting it you can do it in 2 ways.
    1) Go to transaction DSWP select the solution that you have created, towards left choose "Operations Setup-> Solution Monitoring-> Business Process Monitoring-> Setup Business Process Monitoring" and then you can setup your BPM.
    2) If you want to do it via Solman_workcenter transaction then 1st open dswp select the solution towards left choose "Operations Setup-> Solution Monitoring-> Business Process Monitoring-> Setup Business Process Monitoring" and come out of that screen without setting up the BPM then open solman_workcenter transaction select "setup BPM" and then choose the solution that you have created and click on Ok. It will take you to the same screen as in Step 1.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks  & Best Regards,
    Raghavendra.

  • Automotive  - SAP business process certificate

    Hi everyone,
I am a newbie to SAP and i am interested in BPM. I have a strong background in business analysis and project management but with little SAP implementation project experience.
I am interested in the Automotive Industry to obtain the new SAP business process expert certification.
Can anyone point me in the right direction in relation to the following?
Automotive (CKD or OEM) SAP solutions/modules
business process modelling tools in relation to SAP
advice on how to break into the BPM career from an SAP perspective.
    Thanks
    Nader Hanafy

    Hi Hanafy,
Giving a pointwise reply to ur queries. Hope this helps.
Automotive (CKD or OEM) SAP solutions/modules- Please visit the link https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/bpx/automotive. Ithink it will bea good starting point.
business process modelling tools in relation to SAP- There are many modelling tools available but I would recommend ARIS which is mostly widely used. Please visit  www.ids-scheer.com
advice on how to break into the BPM career from an SAP perspective. BPM is a very niceh area in conjuction to SAP projects. I hope u are aware of SAP  implemenattion phases. BPM is emerging as a must do step before business blueprinting which is the core of any implementation. ARIS can be well integrated with SAP solution Manager and SAP is promoting this in a very big way. there are sucess stories for these which I can share with you.

  • Solution Directory - How to lock a business process for a implement project

We have Solution Directory assigned to a maintenance project and I understand the checkout/checkin process and how it locks the business process in the Solution.   What is the best practice when  you are starting a new IMPLEMENTATION project that will impact existing business processes that are in the Solution?  I know that I can copy from the solution to build the new project, but it doesnu2019t lock the BP from the solution.
I have a new Implementation project, that i want to checkout/pull existing business processes for the Solution Directory.
*How can these Business Processes be "locked" in Solution Directory as they are with a Maintenance project?*

    Kelly,
You would use the maintenance project to make daily modifications.
Consider the case of a O2C business scenario. You need to almost make daily configs etc, which get pushed through, such things will go into a maintenance project.
But if you plan to enhance O2C with a CRM front end or include a better planning solution or TPM or something, then you are looking at an implementation project.
Rule of thumb. Short Scale changes : Maintenance Project, Long term/major enhancements : Implementation Projects.
Also In this case to speak about the lock down. Well the Solution Directory kind of takes care of that for you.
I am assuming that you have a solution populated with business processes. So now if you want to enhance it with a new functionality, you would use an implementation project. So when you define the implementation project, and then navigate to Solar01, and try to add business scenarios , ensure that on the Structure tab you select the Solution as the source. This ensures you are copying content from your current, updated, productive solution. Once you do that, the implementation continues on its track, whilst daily support processes are managed with the check-in / check-out functionality of the Solution and the Maintenance Project.
You technically do not need to lock the business processes down, since the Compare and Adjust functionality of a solution will help you identify the deltas  between the Solution and the implementation project and you can always make those adjustments post go-live and thus just update the Solution at one shot. Also remember that with SolMan 7.1 the Compare and Adjust functions can be used with Template, Implementation and Solutions in any permutation-combination.
    Hope this helps.
Plz let me know if you need any additional information
    Cheers!!

  • Compare and adjust business processes to a solution directory

    Dear all,
I'm having truble with viewing changes that I have made in my maintenance project, using the compare and adjust function. Can you please tell me what I'm doing wrong?
These are the steps I took:
    1. I chose a solution using transaction SOLUTION_MANAGER.
    2. I have made the solution settings, including creating a maintenance project, and enabling the check out/ check in & history functions.
    3. Added business scenarios to the solution directory (some I chose from a project, and some I have created manualy).
    4. Checked the Scenarios out to the maintenance project.
    5. Made some changes in the maintenance project, including adding documents and transactions (transaction SOLAR01).
    6. Changed my user-specific settings to comparison mode - "display changes made in original".
    7. Checked the edited business scenarions back into the solution directory. I have checked, and the changes I've made in the maintenance project apeared now in the solution directory.
    Now starts the trouble...:
    8. I checked the scenarios out again from the solution directory to the maintenance project.
    9. Went to transaction SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN, marked the maintenance project line, and did "compare and adjust" of a "new version of original" .
    10. Went back to SOLAR01 and try to view the changes I have made in the maintenance project. I CAHNGES I'VE MADE ARE NOT MARKED...
Sorry for the long description. Can you please help?
    Thank you,
    Adi

    Adi,
Did you find a resolution to this problem? we are faced with the exact type scenario.

  • Business Process Procedure Customer reservations, Check ins, check outs

    Hi Experts
Iam facing a big challenge in trying to process a Customer reservation check in ,check out process for guest houses and Hotel properties for my client using RE-FX functionality.I have already defined a room using the architectural view and used the customer rights of use contract for the process. The challenges are , iam failing to pick up the room from the contract when assigning it in the contract on the object tab page
2 whether also the particular contract i have picked up is the correct one for this business process.
Help to this particular issue is very much appreciated
    Regards
    David

    Hi David,
    In order to use any rental object in a contract you have to ensure following;
    1. Rental object is created in usage view. Here if you have architectural object then you can assign this with Rental object.
    2. Rental object is permitted for your required contract type.
This way you can pick your object from Object tab in contract.

  • Check Business Processes In/Out

    Hi Experts
I want to know how to Check Business Processes In/Out.
    REgards
    Nitin

    Hi Nitin,
You can only check documents in and out using the button in the documentation tabs.
However, the closest answer to your requirement is to put the business process folder in and out of scope.
Use SOLAR01 transaction and ensure your project structure is not locked. In change mode you can use the tick box against the folder nodes to put the process in and out of scope.
If it is ticked, it will be visible in SOLAR02, if not then it won't be available and you can modify it.
