  • IAS9i Relase 1 on Red Hat Linux 8

I am trying to install IAS9i Relase 1 on Red Hat Linux 8. I connect with user oracle and tried to start runinstaller but it simply did not start.
Do I have to install something prior installing ias.
    Thanks in advance.

Did you check the prerequisites in the installation guide?
I believe that 9iAS Rel. 1 is not supported on Red Hat Linux 8, only 7.1 or Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS/ES 2.1.

  • Red Hat Linux Enterprise 5 64bit and Enterprise Manager 10.2.0.3 Install ?

Appreciate specific steps to ensure that Oracle Enterprise Manager 10.2.0.3 is installed as baseline for upgrade.
Red Hat Linux Enterprise 5.2 64bit.
The major problems are with the Configuration Assistant Web Cache during the Install. It fails with OUI-25031.
    The configToolFailedCommands script contents is:
    oracle.sysman.emcp.agent.AgentPlugIn

The root cause of Oracle Grid 10.2.0.3 did not install successfully was because of a Network Configuration Issue. i.e., some strange IP was being referenced over the internet and mapping it to my hostname of my server. I performed a "dig hostname" to see what ip was being associated with my so-called unique hostname. After fixing that problem and removing all of Oracle, I only had one warning with OPMN not starting. I discovered additional rpms that needed to be installed and all is good now until the next opportunity.
Learned Lesson: Pay Very Careful Attention to all configuration components and document as you go to ensure that you have your process documented.

  • Failed Installation of Oracle8i on Red Hat Linux 7.0

    Hi,
I have successfully installed Oracle8i(8.1.6) Enterprise edition on Red Hat Linux 7.0 but while running the Database Configuration Assistant, it stops at the database initialization portion. I suspect the initmig8i.ora file is causing the problem. I have followed the installation guide very closely and the SID is mig8i. What might be the problem causing it to stop? Now, I can't connect to database.

    Richard,
It's a glib problem. 8i uses the glib 2.1 libraries, while RH7 uses the 2.2. There is a patch available from oracle support, or you can find a solution that has worked for me twice on the otn discussion forum.

  • Configuring startWebLogic.sh for Red Hat Linux 7.2

I was successful in configuring and executing startWeblogic.cmd, but have not been
so lucky getting the equivalent to run on Red Hat 7.2 using startWebLogic.sh.
For starters, even before I began editing startWeblogic.sh and just tried running
    I received the following error:
    : command not found
    : command not found
    : command not found
    : command not found
startWebLogic.sh: line 59: syntax error near unexpected token `elif'
    'tartWebLogic.sh: line 59: `elif [ ! -f $WL_HOME/lib/weblogic.jar ]; then
I've included both my startWebLogic.cmd and startWebLogic.sh files so that you
can see what I'm trying to port to the sh file. I'm hoping I'm close to getting
this to execute and run within Linux so please accept my thanks in advance to
anyone who might have some suggestions. Interestingly enough I was able to get
wls to start using ant, but that is obviously only good for my development env.
The point being I'm hoping I'm close to reaching a solution.
Below is what my startWebLogic.cmd file looks like:

  • Jinitiator for Red Hat Linux Enterprise Edition 3

    Hello Technocrats,
I need your reply for our very critical situation asap.
We have Red Hat Linux EE 3 hosted in all developers PC. Oracle Application 11.5.5 is hosted in a Sun Ultra1 server. Now we have licence for Oracle Developer Suite 10g for RH Linux 3.
My question is , will Oracle Jinitiator for the OS compatible be installed at time of iDS installation??
do we need to grab any specific Oracle Jinitiator for E-Business Suite in this regard??
Is Oracle Jinitiator avbl for Linux platforms. If not wat will be the solution for executing a E-Business module form in a Mozilla web browser in Linux Pc's
Kindly give all your valuable suggestions asap....... awaitng your reply

See http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/10g/clientsod_forms10g.html for information on officially supported configs.
The only certification I can see for Redhat is using Sun JPI 1.4.2. The Sun JPI certification was added with the latest patchset (9.0.4.2.0). I know Oracle was planning on certifying Forms 10.1.2 for Sun JPI 1.4.2 and 1.5, but I'm not sure if they managed in the end. Forms 10.1.2 is already available.
We decided to go for Sun JPI and not JInitiator because we have hundreds of external users. Their sysadmins are much more comfortable installing Sun JPI then they are installing the (unknown) Oracle JInitiator.
I've written a number of blog articles about our Sun JPI confguration at http://www.oratransplant.nl/category/oracle/forms/

  • FMS RED HAT LINUX PROBLEMS

    Hi,
I hope that someone can help me. I am having so much trouble
getting FMS to work it is unbelievable.
We have installed FMS onto virtual server running Red Hat
Linux Enterprise 3. We have managed to get
FMS running but cannot get a connection to work. This is
using the sample application 'textchat'. here is a summary of what
we and a coleague have done.
    1) I have linked the libraries to obtain the desired
    libssl.so.4,
    libssl.so.6, libcrypto.so.4 and libcrypto.so.6.
    2) I have installed the lates mozilla firefox and the latest
    flash
    plugin (together with the update-flashplugin)
    3) Then I have created the installation by adding the
    following entry:
    /etc/redhat-release together with it's content
    4) Then I have performed a regular fms installation together
    with adding
the licensing etc. I have also copied the textchat main.asc
    file and the
    textchat pages (swf and html)
So basically we have added all the missing libraries (that we
know of...cmon adobe get it together £3000
and you don't even include relavent libraries) .
If any body has any ideas please reply. we are almost a month
down the line struggling with this software.
    Thanks for an help

Got Oracle Grid Infrastructure 11.2.0.3 to work on Red Hat Enterprise 6.3 Linux with out using asmlib and oracleasm.
    SQL> alter system set asm_diskstring='/DATA/','/FRA/' scope=both;

    asm_diskstring string /DATA/, /FRA/
    SQL> create diskgroup FRA external redundancy disk '/FRA/';
    Diskgroup created.
    SQL> select name,state, total_mb, free_mb from v$asm_diskgroup;
    NAME STATE TOTAL_MB FREE_MB
    DATA MOUNTED 500,000 494,000
    FRA MOUNTED 200,000 194,000
The issue I had encountered that was that I tried to install and configure Grid Infrastructure the way that I had previously using Red Hat Linux 5.5, 5.8 and then 6.0. I had decided to install Red Hat Linux 6.3 which does not support Oracle asmlib and oracleasm to keep up with the technology and to be innovative.
Oracle has added significant enhancements to Grid Infrastructure. The only way to become aware of these enhancements is to "Do It". I've documented this implementation and will now

  • Paid Red Hat Linux (KVM Virtualization)

Hey guys, I was wondering, if anyone of you have shifted using Paid Red Hat Linux with CentOS, and what are your experiences of moving from Paid Linux to Unpaid Linux CenOS. When do you suggest a person use Paid Linux and when to use Unpaid Linux?

In my opinion these are the main reasons for getting a paid linux distro:
-peace of mind for managers. managers want to manage risks away, and they get a good feeling when they pay.
-having the ability to have help with diagnosing issues and crashes at a fixed point, and have SLA's about that. there are no guarantees when getting help from the community.
getting paid support also gets you the latest security and other updates, which is a bit slower on CentOS.

    Hi,
Based on this, HP does not support, that won't stop you. You have to use other source to get all drivers for it.

  • Invoking oracle utilities in Oracle10g on Red Hat Linux

    Hi,
I manage an oracle 10g database on Red Hat Linux Enterprise Server 3.
I have problems invoking oracle utilities like netca, dbca, dbua etc from the bin directory. Every time i type netca while in the bin directory, i get the following error:
    bash: NETCA: command not found
however when i type ./netca while in the bin directory, this is what i get:
    ****ORACLE_HOME environment variable not set!
ORACLE_HOME should be set to the main
    directory that contains Oracle products.
Set and export ORACLE_HOME, then re-run.
i then set the enviroment variable thus:
    set ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/10.1.0/db_1 export ORACLE_HOME
Further attempts to invoke netca still gives the same errors listed above.
    please help if u can.
    olumide

    Hi,
check the installation guide how to set the environment. $ORACLE_HOME/bin is not included in the PATH variable (therefore bash: NETCA: command not found), ORACLE_HOME (and I assume other environment variables) are not set.
    Don't read instructions word-to-word ,
set ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/10.1.0/db_1 export ORACLE_HOME' is syntactically wrong, use
    export ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/10.1.0/db_1 .
    Best regards

    Hi Group,
I have deployed my project in sun one application server 7.0 installed in red hat linux 7.2 and database is mysql. Its working in fine in normal conditions. I could not able to get connection from datasource after I kept my server 10 hours ideal. Again its working fine once I restarted the server. Please give me any solution to prevent this.

My team solved the problem and I thought that we would share.
The version of Xalan that was packaged with the JRE, that is installed by the Sun One app server, was at least 2 versions out of date. Updating the Xalan package solves the issue and the WAR file now works.
Again, this appears to be only on the Linux version as the package deploys and works perfectly on the Windows version.

  • Installation of Oracle EBusiness Suite 11i Release 10.2 on Red Hat Linux

    Hello there,
It would be great if someone can help me with these questions
    1. Which version of Red Hat Linux is suitable for installation of Oracle EBusiness Suite 11i Release 10.2.
    2. I am downloading the EBS files from eDelivery site on my machine (Windows based). These are Zip files. How would these be usable on Linux machine?
    3. Do I need stuff like MKS Toolkit on Linux? We tried installing on Windows 2003 server but had to abandon because we don't have MKS Toolkit. Is there some such pre-requisite on Linux?
    Thank you.
    Rahul

Copy all zip files to say /data/stage11i then unzip all files (as root) the process will create the correct file structure, you do not need to run adautostge.pl then in a terminal screen go to /data/stage11i/Disk1/rapidwiz and then type ./rapidwiz the installation wizard then guides you through the rest of the way. Run raoidwiz as root if you need multi user or for the demo single user run rapidwiz as oracle. Make sure you have created user and group for oracle and applmgr, also make those changes in the wizard it often defaults to say user oravis group dba. In linux you should have created localhost.localdomain sometimes the eth0 does not start, stop it in the device manager and then reactivate. Hope that helps.
