[SOLVED] a problem with gpg-agent and ssh keys

I'm baffled by a strangle problem:
My setup is as follows: I use gpg-agent with --enable-ssh-support, so that my ssh keys are handled by it. All was fine (when I ssh'ed to another machine, a pinentry window popped up, asked for a password, and if I entered the correct one, gpg-agent would decrypt its copy of my private ssh key and use it for identification). But: I needed to change my ssh key, and so I generated a new one. Next, I ssh-add'ed it to gpg-agent (one password to decrypt the private key, then twice another password for gpg-agent). I uploaded the public key to a server. The setup should be complete.
The problem is that when I ssh to a machine, a pinentry window comes up, but it does not accept my password (the one that I entered twice when ssh-add'ing the key). I tried adding with various different passwords (always deleting ~/.gnupg/private-keys-v1.d/*, since 'ssh-add -d ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub' would not work for some reason - it would not make gpg-agent forget the key), different pinentry programs ( -qt4, -gtk-2, -curses), and still the same problems. Pinentry itself seems to work fine, since if I enter two different things when it asks for a new passphrase for the key, it detects that there's a problem.
So, can anyone help? What could I try (please don't post just to say that I could/should use ssh-agent, or keychain, or anything else. I have used various things, and I like this setup the most. It worked before, and I would like to find out why it stopped working and how to get it back to speed.)

You could use an older version of gpg or use a development version.

Big problem with ARD agent and versions.

This is going to be a bit lengthy so please bear with me. At my company I'm in charge of our 6 production G5 computers. My boss has permitted me to install ARD on them so that I can run the specialty programs we have on one without having to walk all the way across the department time and time again. The computers are from varying times in terms of processor speed and RAM but they are all running the same OS with all the same updates. All were running the ARD 3.0 Agent as it was in an update from apple not too long ago. I have uninstalled the agent and used a custom client install pack from ARD 2.2.
My computer is a dual 2GHz G5 and is the oldest of the 6. (here on referred to as Mac2) The other computer with problems is a dual 2.5GHz G5 and is called Mac7.
Mac2 is supposed to have the admin program on it, and I can install it but the program fails to start because it was either installed wrong or the computer needs a restart. I had this same error on my laptop at home but that is a MBP which is Intel. To solve the problem on intel computers i've been told to remove the remote-management folder from core-services and let ARD reinstall it on launch. This has not worked for the G5 at work. Furthermore at one point i could get control of Mac2 remotely from another computer, but after trying to reinstall the admin program again I cannot do that anymore. Even if i reset all ARD software and use the custom client install .pkg again.
As for Mac7, that computer was being run with the 3.0 agent on it and i could connect fine but couldn't lock the screen because of the mismatch. I did the exact same uninstall and reinstall of the ARD Agent that I did on the other computers and now I can't access that one either.
At the very least I need to be able to control these two computers, and I would like to have the Admin software work on Mac2 if possible. I see no reason why these problems should be occurring.
All systems are running 10.4.10 and have no third party remote software installed on them. On both Mac2 and 7 the ARD menu drop-down is showing as not active. All sharing preferences have been set right and there is no firewall. All accounts on both computers have been given all the rights possible for control.
If anyone has any advice please reply to this.

OK, I am still a bit confused - Mac2 is your computer, the one on which you want run the admin app to control other computers, correct? If ARD 2.2 will not start on that one, does it give an error message? I really suspect there are traces of 3.x agent causing the trouble, as I have had this problem myself. In essence, if you have version 2.2 admin, there is no reason to have 3.x agent for any reason whatsoever, it will just cause problems both on the admin and client side since Apple completely rewrote the way it works.
And, based on the first paragraph of your initial inquiry, I wonder if ARD is worth the trouble anyway, since it seems you could accomplish what you need with a simple VNC viewer (my up and coming favorite is JollysFastVNC). If you can't connect with a simple VNC viewer, you also won't be able to use ARD, as it's an extension of the VNC protocol.
However, if you want to make this work, let's work on Mac2 - follow the instructions at this page, down at the bottom: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=108021
It says: "Mac OS X 10.2 clients" but it's also the correct procedure for a complete and clean removal in 10.3 and 10.4
Then reinstall ARD 2.2 admin (you may have an earlier version installer, then install the admin updater). Don't mess with your custom client installer stuff. Just install the 2.2 admin app, and it will install the client it needs. I think this will make Mac2 work for you.

Problem with SQL Agent and Maintenance Job

We planned to create maintenance job for daily backup database. But we got a error when we trying to create maintenance job, error -
An OLE DB error 0x80004005 ( Client unable to establish connection) occured while enumerating packages. A SQL statement was issued and failed).
Did anybody solve this problem?
Also we founded that SQL Server Agent status - stopped.
I trying to start Agent, and got error:

I started Agent by your first link. But after starting Agent service, service stops immediately.
And after restarting service i got this error:
The SQL Server Agent service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some Services stop automatically if they
are not in use by other services or programs.

[SOLVED] Thunderbird & Enigmail: Using gpg-agent to cache key

Hi,
I set up Thunderbird with Enigmail to encrypt my emails.
However, I do not want to enter my password EVERYTIME I want to read an encrypted email. A quick tab change etc. gets annoying, so I wanted to set-up a time out of 10min.
Also, I want to use gpg-agent for that (unless there are by far better options), as I could also manage my SSH keys with that (haven't look into it yet, though)
What I have done:
- Installed TB & Enigmail, gerated keypair, uploaded to keyserver, tried it with a friend (works)
- Added gpg-agent startupscript to xinitrc, verified that it runs on x startup (also writes env file so it will only run once, even if x is started multiple times)
- In enigmail settings selected to use gpg-agent
- Checked gpg-agent cache timeout (set to 300sec (default-cache-ttl))
Problem:
Thunderbird/Enigmail still promts for my passphrase everytime I want to view an encrypted email, even when I quickly switch tabs..
I would really appreciate some pointing into the right directioin/help on how to ideally solve this problem.

I guess you mean: OpenPGP->Preferences->Passphrase Settings
These settings do not apply because it only works when the passphrase handling is done by enigmail/TB. It also gives you a warning, that, if you use gpg 2.0 or later you have to use gpg-agent for passphrase handling and have to set the cache time in the agent itself somehow.
EDIT: Seems to have gotten it to work, I simply added a pinentry-program to the gpg-agent.conf (qt4 version). Strange though, as it should use the gtk entry program by default....
Is this a feature or a bug? Or is it special in the arch package, e.g. compiled with no default or something like that?

Problem with childs nodes and automatic key mapping in a Data Object

Hi experts!
I'm doing the service order tutorial from the mobile help at [this link|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwmobile71/helpdata/en/21/9b5b924c3b434fba4767731794b029/frameset.htm] and I have a problem...
In the topic "Modeling the Equipment Data Object", says you have to mark the "Automatic Key Mapping" checkbox. So when I had to create a third child node ( the location node ) the system raised an exception with the message "Deselect automatic key mapping flag for more than two-level nodes". I'm trying deselecting the flag and creating the location node, but when I want mark again the automatic key mapping flag, this is disabled.
What can I do to solve this and create the three child nodes with the flag marked? It's a configuration thing?

The thing is: Its not allowed to use automatic keymapping if you have more than two levels. This is why the message showed up, and this is why its been disabled.
What automatic keymapping does: Figures out automatically which child node belongs to which parent (by guessing from the field name and type, which fields in the child correspond to which key fields of the parent).
On three levels, this becomes more complicated => Its disabled.
How to do keymapping yourself instead of having the DOE do it automatically: Do 'Explicit keymapping' from each child to its parent. Explicit keymapping is done by clicking on the corresponding menu button in the child node. Here you need to associate child node fields (they need not be key fields of the child, but they are allowed to be that as well) to each of its parent nodes key fields (so that each child can be associated to its parent).

Problem with type conversion and primary key during row fetch

[Note, this error occurs in Oracle XE, APEX 2.1.0.00.39]
I have been having a problem with Automatic Row Fetch:
ORA-01460: unimplemented or unreasonable conversion requested
So in an effort to resolve this, I created a PL/SQL process with the query below and was able to isolate the same error. The problem seems to come from one of the primary keys being a "number" type (APP_ID). The error occurs on the line:
where u.app_id=:P5_APP_ID
I have tried the following variations on this line in an effort to resolve this, but all generate the same error:
1) where to_char(u.app_id) = :P5_APP_ID
2) where u.app_id = to_number(:P5_APP_ID)
3) where to_char(u.app_id) = to_char(:P5_APP_ID)
I've also tried the laternate syntax "&__." and "#__#", but these don't function in the Source field and show up as syntax errors.
Any suggestions are welcome.

I found a prior post referencing a similar issue and it was solved by using the "v(__)" syntax. This did resolve my issue, however, I have a quick follow-on which I'm hoping someone can answer quickly...
Since the "v(__)" syntax won't work for the Automatic Row Fetch (at least to the best of my knowledge), I have to do a manual process. However, the manual query as shown above doesn't actually populate any of the form values through the bind variables. They all remain at their cached values from prior data entry on the form.
Is using the bind variables for assignment incorrect, or is there something that must be done to get the updates to show up in the form (ordering of processes, etc.).
My manual process is running in the Load: Before Header state so I would have expected it to update all of the fields.

Intermittent problem with cross dissolve and chroma key

It seems that in 1 out of 10 videos I produce in Final Cut Pro there is a problem with the cross dissolve effect and chroma key. What happens is that during the cross dissolve, clip A fades out with a green tint and clip B fades in with a green tint.
Today I am working with two videos that I captured using the same work flow on the same day. One project exhibits the tint while the second project does not. If I import the problematic footage into the good project the tint problem follows the footage. In the good footage, the cross dissolve produces a result that does not have a green tint. If I re-capture the "bad" footage the results are the same.
Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone have an idea how to resolve this problem?

Dual G5 Mac OS X (10.4.6)

In my project, both clips are source clips with Chroma, Color Smoothing and Matte Choker applied. A dissolve from non-chroma clip to chroma clip works fine. Only problem is with two chroma clips. In my dissolve, the error appears as red fringing in the area between the two masks.< </div>
You're using creative shorthand that doesn't help. "Chroma clip" means the clip to which you have applied all of these effects? What masks? Where are you getting the masks?
To understand what's going on with all them itty bitty pixels in a stack of interactive effects, do me a favor: render out a short piece, say 10 seconds of each of your chromaclips as separate movies over transparency using the Animation codec. Reimport them and put them over a solid colored Dissolve between them using different types of dissolves. Post back and tell us (me) what's going on.

It's not a bug. Your pixels are running down a pathway. It's a question of building the correct pathway and having the correct pixel wranglers with the right kinds of cattle prods.

Problem with Energy Management and One key Theater

I have a Lenovo G560 laptop. Actually, I have first installed Windows 7 x64 on my lappy but it caused many problems so I again reinstall windows 7 32 bit. But now Energy Management and One key theater are not working at all.
Is there any fix for it???

As I understand you are unable to use OneKey Theater and Lenovo energy management.
The installation of both OneKey Theater and Power Management are necessary for using OneKey Theater. Through "Start" à "All Programs" à "Lenovo", or "Start" à "Control Panel" à "Programs" à "Programs and Features", you can find out whether OneKey Theater has been installed.
If it has been installed, you need to make sure the following two items has been started in “Start à Run à msconfig à Startup”
After that, if OneKey Theater is still unable to be started, you can run it manually by double clicking "Onekey Studio" through "Local Disk(C" à "Program Files" à "Lenovo" à "OneKey Theater".
If OneKey Theater has been started, you can see "Onekey Studio.exe" under the "Processes" tab of "Windows Task Manager".

[SOLVED] [lxc] Problems with archlinux template (and systemd)

Hello, recently I was pointed to lxc. I tried the archlinux and debian templates (ubuntu and fedora doesn't work because the "arch" command cannot be found but curently I don't care about these templates).
The debian template seems to work just fine but the archlinux template doesn't.
I think the main problem is that the arch-system runs with systemd while debian still uses initscripts. I found some resources saying that systemd does not work within a lxc-container while others say that some modifications have to be done in order to make systemd to work properly. But all modifications (I found) that should be made are already included in the archlinux template. But it is still not working for me. :-(

I created the container with
sudo lxc-create -t archlinux -n test-arch
and did nothing more because it seems to me that nothing more should be needed.
I read a lot and most readings say that one has to use initscripts because systemd is not working while others say systemd is working with modifications, e.g. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Lxc-systemd
But above is everything I get, no login-prompt or anything else, it just hangs. Trying to invoke "lxc-stop -n test-arch" initiates the shutdown but then both terminals just hang and I have to kill the lxc-start process.
I would like to know:
1. is it possible to run a container with systemd? Or do I have to use initscripts?
2. are there any modifications I have to do besides the modifications already provided by the archlinux template script (in order to use systemd)?
3. what possibilities do I have to see what's missing or configured wrong?

Ok, sorry for the noise.
As a last chance I tried a fresh Arch installation within a VM and that works fine (I should have tried this first :-( ). It turned out that my problem is that I am running the ck-kernel which lacks support for "Cgroup sched" and "Cgroup cpu account".
I will ask the ck-guy to support these options.
Until then I will have to use the kernel from the core-repo.

I have one question left. Now wifi and ethernet connection are established during boot (whenever possible). Is there a way to establish connections on demand? Is it possible to trigger the netcfg profile "ethernet-dhcp" when the cable is plugged in or "wireless-wpa" when in range?

Problems with database modelling and primary keys

Hi,
I use JDeveloper exclusively for data modelling and generating the sql to build my db.
Its good but i have found a bug that can be rather annoying:
If i change the primary key of a table, the change does not seem to register within the model. So when i try and create a foreign key relationship to another table, the type is of the old type (say i went from varchar2 to number).
The only way around this is to delete the table and create it again. This also causes problems because the db generation wizard will then refuse to open properly (because it does not know that a table has been deleted).
Is this a known issue?

Help with gpg-agent, ssh, and pinentry-curses

I use gpg-agent to manage my ssh keys, and for a system that I regularly ssh into, I would like to use pinentry-curses instead of the default pinentry-gtk-2. However, this doesn't work.
Specifically, I start gpg-agent using script from the arch wiki, /etc/profile.d/gpg-agent.sh:

It looks like the difference between those and my issue is that I'm using ssh, not just gpg, and I'm not using su. In fact, if I have pinentry-curses set in gpg-agent.conf, and I try to use gpg to encrypt and decrypt a file, everything works fine. The file encrypts, and when decrypting, I am prompted by pinentry-curses for my passphrase. It's just ssh combined with pinentry-curses that gives me troubles.

I think it actually is the tty capability bug that's biting you...try adding '--without-libcap' to the pinentry-curses PKGBUILD from ABS (/var/abs/core/pinentry/) and rebuilding the package.

After that I tried to ssh to some of my server, gpg-agent asked for the passphrase, but it seemed i misstyped "test" .... misstyped it again .... and so on, i tired every fuckin password i got, readded the key etc.
But nothin helped, even the debug-level guru wasnt helpful.
What could be wrong?

If got the same Problem.
Tried a lot but nothing worked it out.
ssh-add ask for passphrase of Key and after this for passphrase for the Keyring through my pinetry program.
But after re-entering the passphrase it won't work.
Seems to be a bug !?
(PS: I am using Gentoo)

I just updated my latest java but the update is causing problems with some externale devices. So i would like to uninstall this latest java update and get back the previous one. That should solve to problems with my external device

Java 6 you can't as Apple maintains it, and Java 7 you could if you uninstall it and Oracle provides the earlier version which they likely won't his last update fixed 37 remote exploits.
Java broken some software here and there, all you'll have to do is wait for a update from the other parties.

Easier and better ways to solve current problems with Acrobat?

Is there no better and easier way to solve the problems (installation, re-installing and crashing) with Acrobat? I really think that the ball is in Acrobat's corner right now, because I should not (for example) need to deactivate and re-activate my subscription in order to get AcrobatPro XI to work on my computer, let alone deinstalling an older version that (for now) does work, risking that in the end neither of them work. I need the (great) AdobeCloud applications to do my work as a freelancer, and I really cannot afford this kind of trouble with my applications, nore loose time repairing them. These are difficult times as it is.

Sorry, I can't. When I installed it there was no message that said I had to deinstall the old version first, and with other Adobe CC applications there had been no trouble at all, so I installed it with The previous version still on my computer.
After installing, neither of them would start up properly, so I deinstalled version XI, after which the old version worked again, but my Adobe Application Manager does not let me download the XI version a second time, so I cannot try again.

The description of the issue you originally presented isn't something that I've seen happen to Acrobat when installed as a part of Creative Cloud.
Could you provide a specific description of the behavior that occurs when you launch Acrobat XI now?
