[SOLVED]Binding Shift+Ctrl: Is it possible?

Hello I am using KDE 4.2 and xorg-server 1.5. Due to libxi upgrade kxkb is broken - flag doesn't change with layout. I've made a script which changes layouts correctly via dbus. Now i want to bind it on a Ctrl+Shift combination. Is it possible? I have binded it on Alt+Z for now, but it's very uncomfortable

Disable/Disabling "Save As" shorcut Shift+Ctrl+S

I have removed the "Save As" item from the file menu, but also want to disable the shortcut (Keyboard Accelerator): Shift+Ctrl+S

It works perfectly fine on Acrobat 9.0, but crashes on Acrobat 8.0. I compiled both SDK versions for 8 and 9 using Visual Studio 2005 Professional. Any clue as to why this is happening?

How to adjust the image captured when using Shift Ctrl Command 4 shortcut

After installing Mavericks on my macbook pro I now have issues when I use shift ctrl command 4. When pasting the image into an email it is very large and I am unable to edit it. It used to copy in much smaller.

Diff between Ctrl+T and Shift+Ctrl+K

Can any one tell me the difference between Compile File (Ctrl+T) and Compile All(Shift+Ctrl+K) in forms builder?
Recently, I encountered an issue. I did a change in a form. The only change was that, I modified the "Default where" condition of a block. Generated the FMX using Ctrl+T. When run, this FMX gave an exception ORA-06502.
But with the same change, when I did Shift+Ctrl+K and then Ctrl+T, the FMX worked properly.
Can anyone clarify me why that happened?

Compile all sometimes makes a big difference, especially when the form is big. My observation is that in case of big form the builder cannot recognize properly the changed units (triggers more specifically) and as a result the fmx have strange behaviour. For example - I press a button and the form blows exiting immediatelly. In case like this Ctrl+Shift+K would fix this sort of weird problems.
My guess is that fmb contains chunks of old code or bad pointers buffered within the file. When the form is big and often modified, the simple Ctrl+T, which will invoke Ctrl+K (when compile before generate is on) and this will produce bad fmx. The incremental compile will scan and recompile all program units and triggers. I have observed situations that for the very same form Ctrl+T after Ctrl+Shift+K produces fmx with different size than the one after direct Ctrl+T (i.e. Ctrl+K).
The above happens mainly with forms 6i. I cannot recall such behaviour with 9i/10g

Shift+Ctrl+Cmnd+4 Capture Clipboard as JPG not TIFF?

i am using very often this shortcut : Shift+Ctrl+Cmnd+4
When i used Shift+Ctrl+4 it is doing the file on Desctop as a JPG file. That's perfect.
But when i used Shift+Ctrl+Cmnd+4 to Clipboard and then paste it into Mail it paste as a Tiff.
How can i change Clipboard file format to JPG from Tiff?

It seems like when doing the Screenshot + Ctrl for saving it to clipboard, it is always saved as Tiff. Any defintion you do either with 3rd party applications or with terminal command is only effect when the file is actualy saved to Hard disk. It will take no effect on the clipboard.
No, this is not correct. As I had posted earlier, you can look directly at what is in the clipboard by using Finder>Edit Menu>Show Clipboard. The system default format for a screenshot is PNG, and if you capture a normal screenshot to the clipboard by adding the CTRL key and look directly at the clipboard you will see that the image there is in PNG format:
If you then use a utility like TinkerTool to change the capture format to JPEG, then that is what will go to the clipboard when you add the CTRL key:
When you then paste the image somewhere, the app that receives the image can change the format. In my system, a default PNG clipboard screenshot image that is pasted into Mail stays as a PNG image. However if you change the capture format to JPEG, then the JPEG clipboard screenshot image gets converted to TIFF when it is pasted into Mail.

Save for Web & Devices shortcut Alt+Shift+Ctrl+S not working

I've a really weird issue I'm running PS CS5 on Windows 7 on Dell XPS 1645 for some reason I'm unable to save for web using 'Alt+Shift+Ctrl+S' clicking the menu item works just fine however. This is driving me nuts any help or advice please??

You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

Shift+Ctrl+C (or Shift+Cmd+C) and transparency CS5?

Howdy all,
Recently upgraded to CS5 from CS3 before the price hike to upgrade to CS6 and everything is so much faster and smoother but there is something annoying that don't happen anymore.
In CS3, whern I marquee an image that was surrounded by transparent and hit Shift+CTRL+C (or cmd when I'm in OS X) and paste to a new window, PS would automatically remove all the transparent space and trim the image for me, which was a great time saver.
Well CS5 doesn't appear to do this anymore, no matter how much transparent space I have around my copied image, it ALL gets pasted into the new window. Is there a feature somewhere where I can turn this off? I want it back to the CS3 way!

That shortcut is for Copy Merge. If you have a sleletion active a merge of all visible layer in the select area will be copied to the clipboard. If your document has a background layer that is visible there will be no transparent area in the selection or in Clipboard. Ctrl+C seems to do the same to me. When I do a either a Sfift+CTRL+C or CTRL+C and there are transparent pixel in the the select area view on my Windows systems when I do a paste the layer added bounds is the same as the bounds of the non transparent area part original selection and the pixel within that bounds the were transparent are still transparent in the added layer. You may have found a MAC bug a Photoshop Mac bug or perhaps your Photoshop preferences files are corrupt if your select area view had transparent pixels.

[SOLVED] Multiple Instances of Word 2010; Possible to Force Single Instance?

Is it possible to either:
Control Word instancing so that its a single instace application; OR
Adjust the behavior so that if there's already an Word of word, new documents (no matter how they're launched) will open in the existing instance and NOT a new one?
I have a user who tends to open documents en masse/in bulk, highlighting 2-8 at a time and opening them (alternate-click > open OR once selected hitting [Enter]).
When they do this, multiple instances of Word are launched.
Very rarely is there an instance for each document, but its usually close. For example, if they opened 8 documents there might be 5-7 instances, with several instances showing 2 or more documents in View > Switch Windows.
Multiple instances of Word are a problem for this user because they because a heavy user of Ctrl+F6 / Ctrl+Shift+F6.
And when documents are spread out across multiple instances, this does not work: It does not allow them to cycle through all opened documents; It will only cycle through those that are within that particular instance of Word.
Is this by design?
Is this a change in the way earlier versions of Word behaved?
Is this an 'undocumented feature' [or worse]?
Can this behavior be controlled?

Help implementing mouse multi record select deselect with shift/ctrl click

Forms 10.1.2.3 on Solaris Sparc 64 bit
We are trying to implement mouse multi record select/deselect using shift and ctrl click. I have read that you need the appcore library to do this but because we aren't using Oracle Applications (EBS) we can't have the appcore library.
Has anyone implemented this function without the appcore library?

Why not just use a CheckBox to indicate the selected records? The downfall to almost all methods is that you end up looping through the block to see which records are selected. An alternative to this is to use a record group to record which the selected records. I created a nice little wrapper package to work with Record Groups (RG). Take a look at Forms - Record Group Processing (Duplicate Value Checking). As the name suggests, this example demonstrates how to use an RG to perform duplicate checking, but you can easily adapt the process to keep track of selected records. I use RG's for this all the time. By using the RG, it eliminates the need to LOOP through the datablock - which can be very time consuming. Instead, you loop through the RG and only navigate to the specific records you need too in order to process that record. Looping through the RG is much faster than looping through the block - especially if you have a lot of records displayed in your block.

Shifting of home directory possible ?

i went through a lot of reading before i ventured into installation of arch. i installed from the august release and have successfully upgraded to current september 7 release.
mistakes i commited....
i wanted to install home on a seperate partition and i had mounted so in usb as instructed. but some how my home directory is residing in the same root partition and the /dev/sda7 which i allocated for /home is empty. further more, i am unable to access that partition from my home as it say i dont have permissions....
how to make the partition accessible. and is it possible to shift the home directory from current / partition to /home ? [ in my case it is /dev/sda5 for / and /dev/sda7 for home.
finally, i wish to access the widnows partition in read/write mode. i am able to just open files as read only and i cant save any file there. the other ntfs partion which is empty is also not accesible from arch. how to make that accesible ? both in read/write modes.

followed the rules and edited the fstab successfully.... i rebooted and i am able to even access the ntfs partition, thanks to ntfs-3g.
observations:
i find /home in root file system as well as the newly shifted partition for /home (sda7)
i could also boot easily without any problem
i find that the user exists in both places and the file manager dolphin shows the default first left pane content as Home (which i presume is the root file system /home/USER) i click on the partition 24 GB filesystem (/dev/sda7) and that also shows my user folder.
to double check on whats happening, i created a dummy-test file using nano and saved it to my home directory. then i opened the Home as well as 24 gb filesystem home. both folders contained the test file !
it sort of created mirror? is it ok if i delete the /home foler from the root file system ?
i wanted a seperate home partition but dont think i need a mirror !
CORRECTIONS:
i noticed its not a mirror, double checked with right clicking and checking out with properties and amount of space available / used. it will be less confusing if these 2 lists (24 gb and 29 gb is not displayed in the bottom part of the left pane in dolphin !

[Solved] Binding a mouse button to control

Hi. I'm searching for a way to bind a mouse button to act exactly like Control.
If you would like to bind Caps Lock to act as Control you would do the following for example:
remove lock = Caps_Lock
add Control = Caps_Lock
keysym Caps_Lock = Control_L
It appears that xmodmap doesn't work this way for mouse buttons this way however.
The motivation for this is to have convenient key-bindings for an old game which doesn't support remapping.

Can't select multiple layers with shift/ctrl in Photoshop CC

I honestly can't find a damn thing about this in google searches, other than one poor soul who had the problem on PS5 years ago and just reset their preferences to fix it. None of my more experienced artist co-workers have any idea either.. Well I've tried resetting prefs, restarting photoshop, rebooting PC, and finally reinstalling photoshop.
I'm on a corporate CC account with my own login, I got a photoshop update that happened yesterday, in the middle of all this. I was hoping that might fix it, but no. I tried signing out of the CC account and signing back in, still nothing. I"m out of ideas.
If I create a new PSD, and create multiple empty layers, I still can't multi-select the layers. I can only ever select a single layer at a time. What else can I possibly be missing?
