[SOLVED] Black dots glitches in Firefox

Hi all!
When I scroll web pages in Firefox I'm presented with black dots that multiply themselves as I keep scrolling. They go away if I refresh the page or scroll faster.
Here's a "screenshoot"
http://cdn.imghack.se/images/58eae51879 … ac5ca0.jpg
My laptop is hybrid with Intel and NVidia video cards. What I have already tried:
- Disabling composition and changing the WM
- Using NVidia card instead of Intel
- Updating system
- Using a Aurora and Nightly versions of FF
- Launching Firefox with a brand new user
None of those seemed to help. I got no more ideas. Can someone help?
Thank you in advance.

This driver now uses SNA as the default acceleration method. You can still fall back to UXA if you run into trouble. To do so, save a file with the following content as /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf :
      Section "Device"
        Identifier  "Intel Graphics"
        Driver      "intel"
        Option      "AccelMethod"  "uxa"
      EndSection

  • Blacks Dots at top of webpage and formating issue with table

    I have a basic page with a table layout, spry horizontal menu, spry accordion menu and a bit of Jquery mixed in for the content.
    In Safari and Chrome two black dots appear at the top of the page. I'm not sure where these are coming from. Thoughts?
    In Firefox and IE the two dots do not apprear.
    Also the spry horizontal menu bar is spupposed to be closer to the "logo" image at the top of the page. Every browser adds space between that image and the spry menu bar.
    Here's a link to the test site.

    I'm using CS4.
    On Win7 64bit.
    thanks in advance

    The dots are as a result of <li> class="links" id="projects"> (see below). Are they supposed to be there and whats happened to the <ul> tags which should surround them?
    <ul id="MenuBar1" class="MenuBarHorizontal">
          <li><a class="MenuBarItemSubmenu" href="#">PORTFOLIO</a>
            <ul>
              <li><a href="#">ARCHITECTURE</a></li>
              <li><a href="#">LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE</a></li>
            </ul>
          </li>
          <li><a href="#">ABOUT US</a></li>
          <li><a href="#">CONTACT US</a></li>
        </ul></td>
    LOOK HERE >>>>>>>>>>>>>
        <li class="links" id="projects">
        <li></li><td width="1" height="20"></li>
    To get rid of the dots add the below css to your css stylesheet.
    #projects {
    list-style: none;
    As Snake has pointed out the code is corrupt anyway - you have stray <td> tag in the middle of the <li> tags so you need to clean that section of your code up a bit.

  • Windows 7 Aero glitching with firefox 29.0.1

    Windows 7s aero theme is glitching with firefox only. When I hover over the firefox icon on the taskbar, it doesnt display the firefox windows as the miniatures. if I click on an empty space and THEN hover, it will display the windows available as miniatures. if I click on one of them it flashes for an instant and then minimizes. I cant alt+Tab into any windows that become minimized also. if I click on the firefox icon to select a window it flashes for a split second then goes away and I cant click on anything.
    basically the aero functions for firefox arent working. and it only seems to be affecting firefox.
    steps taken so far:
    system restore to a previous point. this helped for about 5 minutes then it went back to the problem.
    closing firefox, restarting it, closing it, restarting computer, opening, closing rinse repeat.
    manually selecting the window I need from the task manager and selecting "switch to" works to bring it up but thats the only way ive found to open the windows once theyve been minimized.
    also cleared the registry and backed it up but the problem happened before that.
    removed/unpinned it from taskbar and repinning it. didnt help.
    what else can I try?
    specs:
    windows 7 x64 ultimate
    core i3-2100
    24GB Ram
    Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 2GB
    firefox version: 29.0.1

    Firefox has hardware acceleration set to "on" by default, but it's still young, which means some video cards or drivers might have problems with it. You can try to disable hardware acceleration to see if that alleviates your problems.
    You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps for Firefox version 29.0 and above:
    *Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and select Options for Windows or Preferences on Mac or Linux. For Firefox 28.0 and previous versions, click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
    *In the Firefox options window, click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
    *In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
    *Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
    Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
    * [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
    * [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]

  • EyeTV 200 - Attack of the black dots?

    I just got an EyeTV 200 and EyeTv 2.1 (the universal binary compatible version) but have noticed tiny black dots that appear on both the video and TV when played. The dots are approximately 1 inch apart and are the exact same distance from each other so I think this is either a glitch in the unit or I have something turned on or some codec that is causing it.
    Can anyone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks!!

    I can't confirm this, not black dots here as far as I can tell. How big are those (maybe I'm not looking hard enough)? Are they always there, or do they appear after some time? Do they disappear momentarily when you restart EyeTV or your MBP? Do you have any QuickTime plugins installed?

  • Created site in iweb 08 and posted to netfirms... the pages are all loaded up but there is no nav bar, it comes up on each page as a small black dot. How do I get the nav bar to load up and show?

    I created site in iweb 08 and posted to netfirms... the pages are all loaded up but there is no nav bar, where the nav bar should be is only a small black dot on each page. How do I get the nav bar to load up and show? It was a disaster loading up my site as it changed the case of the letters and at first no pages were seen, so I had to go through and change the letters that were supposed to be cap, back to cap in every file. I don't know if this has something to do with it or not. The tech support doesn't have an answer. Please let me know if you have any ideas and solutions. Thanks bunches!

  • Black dots, possibly dead pixels on my brand new Ipod Touch?

    I just purchased a new 4th Gen 32gb Ipod touch from Walmart, there were about 4 black dots, possilby dead pixels upon opening, not even a single smudge on the screen yet, but they were there, so I called and exchanged it for another brand new one, to find the same things this time appearing in the center of my screen. Is this a common issure with Ipod Touchs, or is it just bad luck two times in a row/ what can I do about this? Thanks

    Not it's not common.  It seems as though you just happened to have 2 bad ones in a row.  I would try returning it again either for a full refund so that you can purchase an iPod Touch elsewhere, or exchanging it for another one.

    I believe your only option will be to get Apple to replace the screen for you, which won't be cheap.  If the machine is still covered under warranty, you could try to push the case that the screen must be defective for a bug to get in there.  Apple has been known to do free out-of-warranty service in some pretty unbelievable circumstances, that that is at their discretion, so be very pleasant and polite so they'll like you and want to help you out.    But be prepared to have to pay for the repair.
    Good luck!

  • What is this black dot on the side of my MacBook Pro? What is it for? How do I get to it?

    I have a MacBook Pro (2011 Model & 13") and I was wondering . . . What is this black dot on the side of my MacBook Pro? What is it for and how do I get to it?
    P.S.  I feel stupid asking this question  . . ..  . because I know those who answer will know exactly about it and what to do with it . .

    To be honest when I first got it, I thought I broke that hole . . . see I assumed it was a button to eject the CD slot, and I managed to either push it in deep enough, or smash it off. . .. .  I once got a tooth pick and fiddled around in there in atempt to find something. . ..

  • IPhone 5  has black dot on photos

    Just recently my 2 year old iPhone 5 is showing a black dot/mark when I look through the view finder and is appearing on the photos too, also on videos but for perhaps obvious reasons not on the reverse camera! The external lens appears to be clean.
    Can anyone help with this, please? I have switched the phone off and on - I have also rebooted it (just in case!).

    If an application is running, it is normal seeing a black dot under the application in the Dock.
    Closing the window doesn't make the application quit.

  • Black-out glitches

    Every time I watch a TV show or movie off AppleTV, I get black-out glitches for about the first 30 minutes. These are 1-second episodes where the screen goes black, then the show comes back. If I reverse, I can see what I missed, but the black-outs occur in different spots. After about 30 minutes, this quirk stops.
    I noticed that it also happens when the unit is turned on, with just the screen saver on. It also happens with music videos and photo slide shows. I've tried everything--moving the unit, resetting, unplugging, turning it off between uses, leaving it on between uses. Any suggestions?

    I assume you have tried swapping the resolution (what res are you using) ?
    You are obviously have significantly more patience than I, I doubt I could live with this behavior. If you want to find the source of your issue I suspect you will need to do a little troubleshooting yourself:
    I believe you can safely rule out anything to do with your PC/mac, itunes, your router or your network, if you wanted to check this you could always pull the network (either power down your router or pull the ethernet from the tv) and see if the problem persists.
    This leaves you with the tv, the tv and the connecting cables as the possible source of the blackouts.
    Swapping out the cable would easily eliminate the cabling, but not everyone has a spare HDMI cable and I wouldn't recommend buying a cheap cable to try this, cheap cables themselves are the source of a high number of problems.
    You could move the tv to another tv if you have one with HDMI or even take it to a friends residence to try (you won't need anything but the tv, so no worries about having no mac/PC or network)
    Once you have isolated the source of the problem, you will have to decide what to do. A faulty cable will need replacing, so will a faulty tv, but you will be able to do that under warranty. If it's down to the tv, then your choices might not be as straight forward. On the topic of tv's, I have noted several issues arising with Samsung tv's and indeed I have an LG tv that develops a sound issue when used with the tv, fortunately this happens about once every 6 weeks and is resolved by restarting the LG tv.

  • Black dot in text box, can't enter texg

    Hello,
    I have a black dot in both text boxes, and when I try to enter text, the canvas gets "crazy" on the left side. I fixed it this morning, but now I have it again, and I can't recall what I did to fix it.
    Thank you

    Your guess is correct, Sir Doug of Gilmore, as is your suggestion to create a new track.
    The black dot appears when the selected track is a graphic or other object, such as a background.
    To the original poster and asker of questions, LiveType treats eveything as if it were typeable. Press any key and your object will appear once more, in so far as that it fits in the frame.
    Please do not ask which one is the "Any" key.
    Disclaimer: "typeable" is not neccessarily a word that you will find in a dictionary.
