[SOLVED] Can no longer connect to networks since update

I have a Realtek RTL8723AE wireless apapter, and since last night (I think caused by an update), I haven't been able to get a connection with it.

The drivers and module seem to be loaded. So I tried

I try to do

but I get no joy.
The log

The above also spits out when I try
wifi-menu
(wifi-menu looks and finds nothing) and
dhcpcd
I'm suspicious that my ethernet adapter is suffering a similar problem, I get a similar output:

I'm connected with my phone in tethering mode at the minute, unfortunately I have no way of testing the ethernet port.
I've been fortunate enough never to have had too many network issues in the past, but this has left me somewhat out of my depth when it comes to this, so I apologise in advance if I'm missing something.

I have a laptop with the same wifi card and have been having similar issues. I just wanted to say that, after trying nearly everything (including booting into an old Debian partition to no avail), I saw this post.
I figured it couldn't hurt, so I shutdown the laptop, unplugged it and pulled the battery. I booted it again, and voilà, magically my wifi card worked again.
There must be some kind of switch that got toggled off, and was reset by clearing power. My laptop has two buttons with airplane labels that have never done anything (they probably would in Windows), but they did nothing for me.
Anyway, thank you person from the past, the solution is here.

If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

Apple TV can no longer connect to network after upgrade.

I had heard that lots of people were affected with this problem with the software upgrade before this one so I deliberately waiting until this one came out before taking a chance. I was wrong.
After updating to 4.4. (3140) I can no longer connect to my network. It says there was a problem and gave the error messaged number: (5) in brackets.
I've had nothing but problems with both Apple TV's that I have owned, version 1 and this new version 2. I've a good signal from my router and I've used three different ones over the time I've had the two apple tvs.
Anyone got any ideas.
I can't connect the apple tv directly because they are too far apart in the house. I can only connect by wifi.
There is nothing wrong with my wifi because I'm connected to it fine though my imac, iphone and ipad and laptop, (not all at the same time)

Ok, here's a solution, courtesy of our friends at AppleCare.
Unplug the router for 90 seconds.
I was running ATV2 with a Time Capsule. The TC thought the ATV was still connected using its former IP address so wouldn't let it reconnect with a new one.
Hope this works for anyone else with same problem.

I recently (sept 2013) installed itunes update and can no longer connect to a network nor internet wired /wireless. I know it is not the gateway as other devices work. Please help. I am not very knowledgable so exact instructions will be most helpful.

Try connecting your computer/laptop directly to the base station with an ethernet cable to one of the external ports and install your network settings. If it finds it there, it will find it after you've reloaded your network info to the base via the Apple Utility. Hopefully when you disconnect afterward, all will be fine. Be sure not to select "closed" network although Macs will login with no prolem, PC's have trouble doing so even with the network data stored in the internet settings.

Can no longer connect to network

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to put this. All of a sudden my iPhone or my daughter's iPod can connect to the network. The router password is correct and up until Saturday night we were all connected. My daughter's boyfriend tried to connect to the network tonight, put in the correct password and he got a message that he could not connect to the network the same message my daughter and I are having. Unfortunately no one at Linksys was able to help me unless I paid $29.99 or updated my modem for $79.99. Thank you in advance.

@LinK0514, is your wireless network using the same name that you were using since the initial setup? If it is using the same name, we can say that the wireless password was changed or due to wireless interference, wireless devices could not connect. Before resetting the router, try to check if the internet is working using computers that are connected wired (via ethernet) to the router. If yes, try accessing the router page (depends on the router model) using it's default IP Address 192.168.1.1. Can no longer connect to internet since express intalled!

Been trying to configure my AE for iTunes and seem to have buggered up my general wifi settings. My router has not changed (since all my other mac's can connect OK), but the machine I was configuring AE on just says:
"Airport is connected to the network xxxx. Airport has a self-assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the internet"
It is set to DHCP, but keeps getting one of those useless 169.x.x.x addresses instead of the 192.x.x.x ones. I have no changed the router at all.
How do I reset my airport connection?

To set up AirTunes on the AirPort Express Base Station (AX), connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then, use the AirPort Admin Utility to check these settings:
AirPort tab
- Base Station Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
- Wireless Mode: Join an Existing Wireless Network (Wireless Client)
- Wireless Network: <select the existing wireless network>
Music tab
- Enable AirTunes on this base station (checked)
- Enable AirTunes over the Ethernet port (optional)
- iTunes Speaker Name: <whatever you wish>
- iTunes Speaker Password (optional)
In iTunes:
iTunes > Preferences... > Advanced > General
- Look for remote speakers connected with AirTunes (checked)

Leopard iMac can No Longer Connect to Network Drive

We've had a new iMac in my office for 2 1/2 months and have never had this problem. When we first set it up, we set it up to connect automatically to a shared drive on our corporate network. However, today it suddenly stopped connecting and tells us A) our username and password are bad or B) it can't find the drive. We've tested the username to map the drive on our Windows machines and made sure that the account has the proper permissions, but it still won't allow us to connect. I'm wondering how to correct this issue and prevent it from occurring in the future.
I realize I've been kind of vague in this post - if more information is needed, please let me know.

The problem was identified as a network problem, not one with the iMac.

Can no longer connect to network server after upgrading dsl modem

While I was working on a file that resides on a network server, the router was powered down so on reboot it would communicate with a dsl modem . After the router was power up I could not reconnect to the server.
I have internet access
The mini can see the server in the finder and the server sees the mini
This is not a wireing issue.
When I try to connect I get this message:
"The file server uses an incompatible version of the AFP Protocol. You cannot connect"
The server is an old mac running os 9.1. I've read that 9.1 is not compatible with 10.4.8. But it worked just fine this morning.
There are other macs (cubes) running 9.2 I can connect to them.
I've tried restarting and logging on as a differernt user. no change

I made no changes to the mini or the server.
The router was shut down then on restart the new (replaced modem) was configured by using another mac on the network (not the file server)
Once the router and modem were online again, other macs running 9.2 were accessing the file server as usual. The mini was not.
I had been working on a file that resides on the server. I was not warned that the router was going to be shut down. When I saved the file I got the beach ball then error message.
It'll be next week before I'm in the office agin. I'll report back then. Thanks

Can no longer connect to networks

I have a C55D-B5242 and am suddenly having issues connecting to wireless networks. This worked fine until a few days ago and now will not connect. The only message it says is "can not connect". Trouble shooting does nothing.
Connected through an ethernet cable it works fine, but not wirelessly.
Win8 is fully up to date
Atheros Wirless Lan Driver (956x is the model I think) is up to date from the manufactuer's website
I have disabled and reenabled the hardware
I have "uninstalled" the network adapter and reinstalled
I have tried it plugged in (to check power setting)
Routers have been reset
No settings on the PC have changed
Passwords for the routers are correct
Phones can connect to both networks with no problem (I have two wireless networks)
One strange part though is that I have two wireless networks, my main on and a VPN one. It will not connect to the main one at all, which is use to, but it will "connect" to the VPN network, but only a limited connection and won't do anything.
Any ideas?

Change channels on your router, they default to channel 1 change to other channels and then try, channel 6 or 11 are suggested in high interference areas. Changing the channel should not hurt any other connections and you may find that you get a stronger signal and/or faster wifi. Just by changing channels my wifi signal went from 72 mbps to 150 mbps.
The other thing to try is the wifi security, wep, wpa, etc. Your laptop may not support your current security settings.

CAN NO LONGER PRINT FROM PAGES SINCE UPDATING

Just updated macbook running snow leopard it is now 10.6.8
and pages wont allow me to print documents
have tried some of the answers others have provided but to no avail
the printer drivers are there as can print from web pages and other stored documents that do not need pages to open
at a loss what to try next

What exactly have you tried as suggested by those other answers? The usual cause with Pages is that you have the trial of iWork installed & it is past 30 days. You need to delete the trial & then reinstall from the boxed DVD or the Mac App Store. The files to delete are the iWork ’09 folder from the main HD > Applications; the iWork ’09 folder in HD > Library > Application Support & the individual iWork application plist files found in HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences for each user. Yvan Koenig has written an AppleScript that removes the files. You can find it on his box.com account in for_iWork'09 > other_iWork'09 items > uninstall iWork '09.zip.
Also, please do us all a favor & don't use all capitals in your posts, either the body of the post or the title. All caps is the internet equivalent of shouting & is very hard to read.

Did you already try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes back again?
Did you try to reset the network settings on your device?

Can no longer connect to Windows XP Home Network

I recently upgraded to Mavericks and just noticed I can not longer connect to my Windows XP Home Network. Besides sharing files I also print through that network, but it's not just the printer that's afftected. In "Finder" I see the Home>Office Folder but I can't connect to it. I deleted the printer and tried to re-add it but I get a message saying that the server my not exist or is unavailable.
It's been a long time since I set this all up so I don't even know where to look and/or begin.

There is a problem with connecting to a shared printer on Windows XP from Mavericks. But you should still be able to connect to a shared folder, although my testing was with Windows XP Pro, not Home. One thing you do have to ensure is that the Windows user account has a password. You cannot connect to a shared folder on WinXP if the Windows account has no password.

My PB can no longer connect to MsHome directory on Windows network...

however when I perform the Connect to Server comand (CMD-K) I can connect to the share(s).
Here's the process flow:
Open Finder window
Click on Network
Avaiable networks display (including MsHome)
Click on MsHome
Displays nothing...(used to display all the share directories)
Also, I can no longer use the network printer becuase of the same issue.
Any thoughts/suggestions?

TS2756 since ios6 update I can no longer connect my ipad to my iphone hotspot

I updated both my iphone 4 and ipad 3 to ios6. Since then I can no longer connect my ipad to my iphone personal hotspot. I did the reset network on both devices. It did work for one session but then I could never get it to work again. Has anyone found a fix for this? Should I call my carrier?
