[SOLVED]Cant Turn My WiFi Card On.

Ok so this has had me puzzled for a while, this is the output from an lspci of my wireless card:
06:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4311 802.11b/g WLAN (rev 01)
So I load the b43 module and it appears to work fine, iwconfig can see wlan0 and so can ifconfig. My problem is that I cant seem to acutally turn the card on, meaning I cant connect to wireless networks. I know the b43 driver works as this is what I was using in Lubuntu. From what I can tell the only difference I can see between the modules loaded in Arch and Lubuntu (after greping b43) is the led_class (im guessing this deals with the wireless switch on my laptop, which is what I would like to get working). However I cant seem to find it anywhere in the kernel (might be me being a bit stupid) and there isnt a package for it in user repo's.
Any help would be appreciated

I am not certain, but I believe you can do all of that without actually loading the firmware to the NIC. Did you install core/b43-fwcutter ??
Dmesg should have clues as to whether the firmware exists and was (or was not) successful loaded to the card when the driver started.
Yes i have installed core/b43-fwcutter, and here is what dmesg says:

Ok so I followed the b43 guide from the wireless.kernel.org page, when I go to extract and write the firmware I get this error message

I Don't know what you did in order to restore your network. I'm not sure what that means exactly. But take a look at this, if your WiFi settings are greyed out.

You can try this:
Restart your iOS device.
Make sure that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
Make sure that your device is using the latest software. To do so, connect your device to your computer and check for updates in iTunes.
If you still can't turn Wi-Fi on, contact Apple Support: 1-800-275-2273 (United States)

Cant turn wifi on after bios flash, GX740

Hello! I had serious overheating problems,so i flashed bios using the 3 files mentioned here: ( https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=155679.0 ). I also reset EC by removing battery and power cord for 10 minutes. After that I cant turn my wifi on - the button under the display is just not reacting.. (well, at least the overheating issue seems to be s olved : )

When you say "no signal," what exactly do you mean?
If that means "the menu bar signal-strength indicator doesn't show anything," check the menu to be sure that it has selected the t-mobile network (and NOT, by the way, any "Computer-to-computer" network that might have the same name).
If "there's no network listed in the menu," try turning the WiFi card off and back on (using the menu-bar menu).
If you haven't got a menu-bar menu, go to Network System Preferences, show AirPort, and check "Show AirPort status in menu bar".
I don't see what model laptop you're using; some of the early TiBook models do have signal-strength problems (perfectly good card and antenna, then they go and wrap it in Titanium foil!). If you have one of those, try moving around the room a bit, see if that helps. Also, if you have one of those, you might google for "powerbook external wifi antenna." There's at least one commercial solution, and a load of do-it-yerselfers.

That doesn't have any effect on any of the above, it only comes into play once all that stuff is working. The basic advice is "don't use it unless you need it," which is of course not actually very helpful, but since you've tried it and it didn't help, you might as well turn it off.

Depends on whether or not the machine is under warranty or not. If it is, just take it to an applestore and let them worry about it. If not, your airport card may have failed and may need to be replaced. It could also be that the card needs to be reseated, which is what I would check first. Look for a guide at ifixit.com.

Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn Wifi Card - Possible Issues [SOLVED]

Dear Lucky owners of such a card, At least from my experience I realized it is not that bad card, even if most probably many production pieces were faulty or not working properly, and many issues can be resolved. Let me list in order of time the issues I faced and solved about this wifi card: 0) First issue is not about RT3290 card itself but it is related to 802.11w encryption compatibility in between Windows8 and Cisco not allowing 802.11n speed rates so failing to G speeds only. - SOLUTIONS: a. As first test I would recommend trying another router from different brand to see if connecting at 802.11n speed rates b. If you prove point a issue, then try to fix the issue based on following post (in which you can see the reply from myself Emanuele on the 29th of Nov 2014): https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/113836/windows-8-clients-cant-associate-cisco-unified-wireless 1) Signal strenght issue: original wifi card RT3290 installed on my HP laptop was having really bad antenna, with signal fluctuating and sometimes bad even really close to any Router I tried. - SOLUTION: Replace the RT3290 card even with same new card. (In my case as laptop was under warranty, I proved the issue via screenshots and they replaced with new card solving my signal strenght issue). 2) Original issue (1) was actually resolved after HP replaced the wifi card with same model, but with the latest driver installed 5.0.45 seems like wifi rates change too frequently based on high sensitivity of the driver itself, so that suggested me issue was still there, so making me re-testing anything from scratch. - SOLUTION: Install 5.0.37 Driver - frequent rate changes issue (with driver 5.0.45) disappears and sensitivity of signal to rate changes seems to be a really good compromise to have good throughput. 3) To check out 2nd issue above I started again using a third party software inSSIDer free version to check signal while I was doing speedtest on web.
- RESOLUTION:
inSSIDer normally works on Windows7 without any issue but on Windows8 (at least tested with RT3290) I have just discovered somehow this software was slowing down wifi card performance drastically showing a speed up to 0.1Mbps rather than 40Mbps. Simply closing the application issue was not recurring, so uninstalled it and after solving all the other issues above this card works perfectly (at least so far ) Hope this post will be informative and will help other about-to-get-mad guys as me

Wifi card not detected with ifconfig (solved)

I'm not sure wether I should post this here or not...
However, I'm using a Realtek Wifi card RTL8188CE on my laptop and I couldn't succeed in using it. (I'm using Arch x64, it's up-to-date).
I tried using ndiswrapper, but even when the ndiswrapper module is loaded and the driver properly created from the ".inf" file, ifconfig -a still doesn't display anything else than the usual "eth0" and "lo".

I finally solved my problem. It turns out my driver existed on the AUR and all I had to do is load the corresponding module with modprobe.

okay, I did blacklist hostap_pci, I did find out that with orinoco_pci module it is more stable
BUT
sometimes it hang up with same error message

A number of employers will push a security profile to your phone when you add their exchange account that prevents you from backing it up to iCloud. They do this because they don't want confidential company information on another companies servers. If this is the case, you will find a setting called "Profile" in Settings>General near the bottom.
You would have to contact the company's IT department to confirm that they are preventing you from backing up to iCloud but that's normally what causes the iCloud backup setting to be grayed our or missing from an iOS device.

Wifi keeps on getting disconnected/ cant turn off iphone/ cant open messages

My wifi keeps on getting disconnected ever since I updated my iphone to ios 7.2
and when I go to settings, when I click wifi, my iphone hangs.
i cant open my messages folder. it just shows a blank page...
and lastly, I cant turn it off. no matter how long I press the power/lock button, nothing happens..
I tried to reset it, but it cant detect my wifi connection, but my mac does..
help??
