[SOLVED]Crontab fails to execute script
Good morning.
I have tried to setup crontab to give my ati card a different clockspeed depending on the time of day. I can't get it to work properly. This is what I have done.
I have 3 scripts in my ~/bin folder for 3 different clocks. This is one example, I call this upclock.sh.
#!/bin/bash
export DISPLAY=:0
/usr/bin/aticonfig --odsc 895,300
If I execute it from the commandline, as a normal user, it works as expected and the clock is changed. This goes for all 3 scripts.
I add these to roots crontab like this:
15 23 * * * `DISPLAY=:0 /home/johan/bin/downclock.sh`
0 3 * * * `DISPLAY=:0 /home/johan/bin/midclock.sh`
0 7 * * * `DISPLAY=:0 /home/johan/bin/upclock.sh`
But, I get the following error mail when the times specified comes:
No protocol specified
/bin/sh: ERROR: command not found
Anyone got a hint on what to do to make it work? I have tried to remove the "DISPLAY=:0", with the same result.

0 7 * * * `DISPLAY=:0 /home/johan/bin/upclock.sh`
You don't want to use backticks around your commands. Start by removing them.
Oh, I picked those up from a similar crontab on the gentoo forums, don't know why. I removed them and I now get another message.
No protocol specified
ERROR - X needs to be running to perform ATI Overdrive(TM) commands
However, X is running, initiated by SLIM as normal user "johan".
I tried using the user johan's crontab instead:
15 23 * * * DISPLAY=:0 /home/johan/bin/downclock.sh
0 3 * * * DISPLAY=:0 /home/johan/bin/midclock.sh
0 7 * * * DISPLAY=:0 /home/johan/bin/upclock.sh
This works just fine!
Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

[SOLVED] zsh: Failed to execute operation: No such file or directory
I recently ordered a chromebook (acer c720) and have successfully replaced ChromeOS with Arch Linux. Things were going great the past 2 days but all of a sudden whenever I try to use tab completion on zsh (does not happen in bash or any other shell I've tested) I receive the message:
Failed to execute operation: No such file or directory
My .zprofile is:

Is there something I'm missing or not considering? The tab completion still works, it just displays that message every time inline and it's really annoying. Also I searched google, the wiki, and the forums for any information regarding this and either my search-fu isn't strong enough or it's not showing up elsewhere.

Edit:
Besides a lot of other errors the problem was the systray. It was created 2 times, now login works again. I figured that out via enabling logging for awesome in the xinitrc again.

Execute Script - How to Update second node in XML group
Hi,
I have an XML variable "myXML" which is set to:
<root>
<nodes>
<node>
<value>a</value>
</node>
<node>
<value>b</value>
</node>
</nodes>
</root>
Question - within an Execute script, how can I easily access and update the second node value? i.e. change "b" to "c"
The following fails in Execute Script (although it is possible using an XPath expression in a SetValue
patExecContext.setProcessDataValue("/process_data/myXML/root/nodes/node[1]/value", "c");
If I have square brackets in this expression then it fails with a nasty error
Is there an easy way?I tired your script in my sandbox and its working fine without fail.
I noticed an additional space in your xpath expression
patExecContext.setProcessDataValue("/process_data/myXML/root/nodes/no de[1]/value", "c");
Can you remove the space within node tag and try again?

Failed to execute default file manager (Input /Output Error) [SOLVED]
I'm having an issue in XFCE where the default Terminal, Browser and File Manager launch correctly - but with this error:
Failed to execute default [file manager] [terminal emulator] [browser]
Input /Output Error
I have the requisite "Preferred Application" set as Chrome/Thunar/xfce4-terminal.
If I run
exo-open --launch FileManager
From terminal, it says:
[1] 4281 segmentation fault (core dumped) exo-open --launch FileManager
Remember, it launches the app successfully - and the apps themselves launch correctly, it's only exo-open that I have a problem with! Everything else works great on this system.

I got the same problem, I observed the problem appearing with those lines in "dmesg", the same library (libpthread-2.21.so) is also present in other software errors (critical and not) since my last update (friday 24th).
I'll try downgrading glibc, see if that works around the problem.

Tried downgrading glibc from 2.21-3 to 2.21-2 as this is the package which contains libpthread.so, and on my other arch workstations I don't have the issue, but to no avail, same error box pops up when using exo-open, and my IDEs are not starting.
I'll try comparing installed packages versions on both workstations. -
[SOLVED] Firefox won't start - "Failed to execute default Web Browser"
I've just updgraded from Firefox 3 to version 4 (by running "pacman -Syu") on my 64-bit Arch installation. I started XFCE and Firefox 4 worked fine for a few minutes before crashing and closing automatically.
A short while later (long enough to forget exactly what I was doing when it crashed!) I tried to run it again, but got the error message Failed to execute default Web Browser. / Input/output error.
I've tried rebooting the PC and re-installing firefox & firefox-i18n, but still get the same error. If I run "firefox" from a terminal window, I get the following response:
OpenOffice path before fixup is '/usr/lib/openoffice.org3'
OpenOffice path is '/usr/lib/openoffice.org3'

I'm not sure why there are so many references to "OpenOffice"...
Can anyone offer any suggestions as to how to get Firefox working again? (Thanks in advance!)

Thanks for that. After I posted my last message, Firefox crashed again on a website containing embedded video. I disabled the add-on, but when VLC was updated, I guess it installed and enabled the add-on again. Firefox worked fine initially, but I've just tried to open it again and the same "input/output error" message appeared. I rebooted, but the problem persisted.
Uninstalling the vlc-plugin package seems to have resolved that, though. -
Until recently, I could double-click a script (or link to a script) in Thunar or on the XFCE desktop, and it would execute
Now, however, when I double-click a script, it opens in Leafpad (my text editor). I've browsed the wiki and searched the forum and web, but can't find any clues as to what has changed or why this is happening.
I can right-click in Thunar and use the "Open With>" option to set the script to open with another application, but there's no obvious option to run a script. Opening with a terminal emulator results in a brief hourglass, then nothing.
The script I'm testing with (the Tor Browser Bundle startup script) is in my /home/myname directory, has -rwx------ permissions (with me as the owner), and the file type in Thunar shows "shell script". It runs fine if I execute it in a terminal with "sh /path/to/script" -- just not via Thunar or the XFCE desktop.
Can anyone suggest anything I could check?

This is an intended change in Thunar 1.6.5: https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7596#c15
Thunar 1.6.6 has a hidden option to restore the old behavior: http://git.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/commit/?id=b385bcf
The option is called misc-exec-shell-scripts-by-default and can be set using xfce4-settings-editor or by following the instructions here:
http://docs.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/hidden-settings
Thanks so much for the explanation!
I tried creating "misc-exec-shell-scripts-by-default" in the Settings Editor, set to true, but it didn't seem to have any effect. So I tried this in a terminal, also to no effect:
xfconf-query --channel thunar --property /misc-exec-shell-scripts-by-default --create --type bool --set true
If I right-click on a script, the top item on the menu is still "Open with Leafpad". Do I somehow need to change the default behaviour to "execute script"...? I've searched but I can't seem to find any further information.
I guess it's not a big deal, but it would be nice to restore the default behaviour. -
Grid Installer Wizard step 9 of 10 - execute script root.sh problem
Folks,
Hello. I am installing Oracle 11gR2 RAC using 2 Virtual Machines (rac1 and rac2 whose OS are Oracle Linux 5.6)
and according to the tutorial http://appsdbaworkshop.blogspot.com/2011/10/11gr2-rac-on-linux-56-using-vmware.html
The Virtual Disk for each VM is 20 GB whose raw device is /dev/sda (partition /dev/sda1 is the same size).
In order to install Grid Infrastructure, I add 5 Hard Disks into the first VM rac1 and 10GB for each Hard Disk.
Then create 5 ASM disks respectively as a Disk Group. Let me describe them as follows:
OS Phyysical file: C:\VM_RAC\sharerac\asmdisk1.vmdk (asmdisk2.vmdk asmdisk3.vmdk asmdisk4.vmdk asmdisk5.vmdk)
Corresponding raw devices: /dev/sdb (sdc sdd sde sdf)
Corresponding partition: /dev/sdb1 (sdc1 sdd1 sde1 sdf1)
Corresponding ASM disk: ASMDISK1 (ASMDISK2 ASMDISK3 ASMDISK4 ASMDISK5)
When I run Grid installer step 5 of 8, I select all of 5 ASMDISK as ASM disk group in the Wizard.
The clusterware files are supposed to be stored in the ASM disk group.
The 2 VMs rac1 and rac2 should use the same ASM disk group.
By here, I don't do anything regarding ASM disk group in the second VM rac2.
When run the Grid Installer step 9 of 10, execute script root.sh in the 2 VMs rac1 and rac2. The script root.sh runs in the first VM rac1 successfully. But when the script root.sh runs in the second VM rac2, the error message comes up as following:
ORA-15018: disk group cannot be created.
ORA-15031: disk specification 'ORCL:ASMDISK5' matches no disks.
ORA-15031: disk specification 'ORCL:ASMDISK4' matches no disks.
ORA-15031: disk specification 'ORCL:ASMDISK3' matches no disks.
ORA-15031: disk specification 'ORCL:ASMDISK2' matches no disks.
ORA-15031: disk specification 'ORCL:ASMDISK1' matches no disks.
Configuration of ASM failed.
Did not successfully configure and start ASM.
Initial cluster configuration failed.
From the above error message, it seems that we need to connect the second VM rac2 with the ASM disk group created in rac1 so that 2 VMs use the same set of the ASM disks.
But I don't see anything about doing ASM disk group in the second VM rac2 in the tutorial
http://appsdbaworkshop.blogspot.com/2011/10/11gr2-rac-on-linux-56-using-vmware.html.
My question is:
Do any folk understand how to solve ASM disks issue in the second VM rac2 when run the script root.sh in rac2 on step 9 of 10 in Installer Wizard ?
Thanks.Hi,
One of mandatory requirement for RAC is shared storage. Check if you have shared storage across all nodes.
Run oracleasm listdisk on node2 to see if it can see the same disks on node 1. Otherwise you didn't follow that tutorial correctly

Hi All. Could anyone resolve my issue.
I was created a package with an Script task written in VB.Net.
The Package was executing Successfully in BIDS.
But when i tried to exceute the same using Sql server Agent Job, Its getting Failed with the below error message

Please give some solution to this.
Thanks in advanceAre you editing this job in SQL 2012? Is it wrapping your paths in \"? Like for example does the command line tab on the step look like this:
/FILE "\"D:\yourPathGoesHere.dtsx\"" /CONFIGFILE "\"D:\yourPathGoesHere.dtsConfig\"" /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING E
That's the problem I had, and I resolved it by recreating the whole thing via SQL Script and getting rid of all those \" things. I think that is preventing SSIS from looking up the precompiled binaries for your Script Task. So you should edit the command
line manually:
/FILE "D:\yourPathGoesHere.dtsx" /CONFIGFILE "D:\yourPathGoesHere.dtsConfig" /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING E
Please write back whether that helps you. David Dye's answer didn't help me at all. -
Compilation failed while executing : dsymutil
Hi,
Trying to compile a standard package for ios with major failure. The fast-version works perfectly without any errors.
I'm on mac os x lion and using flash builder 4.5.1. The error I'm getting is as follows:
Error occurred while packaging the application:
/var/folders/n4/52v6ttx96c7bnw8vnysh5j780000gn/T/cmd460615453403880056.tmp: line 2: dsymutil: command not found
Compilation failed while executing : dsymutil
I can't find anything about it posted previously or anywhere actually.
/ DanielI'm answering my own question here.
Install Xcode from the appstore ( it's free ) and you will get dsymutil. Weird workaround considering I can run this setup on another computer that hasn't got xcode installed ( but still has dsymutil ). But at least it solves the problem. -
MDX Query Failed to execute when universe created on MultiProvider Query
Hi All,
I am running the WebI report created on the universe which is built on Query.
The data flow model in our system for this query is:
Data Store Object> Infoset-> multiProvider--->Query.
When I drag only on Dimension object in the Webi Report without any Prompts the report works fine.
But when I add any other Dimension or any Prompt in the WebI Query it gives me following error:
A database error occured. The database error text is: The MDX query SELECT { [Measures].[4EGM09GXGU939C3RJH2G9DOQY] } ON COLUMNS , NON EMPTY CROSSJOIN( [Z_WM_IS01___F1].[LEVEL01].MEMBERS, [Z_WM_IS01___F12].[LEVEL01].MEMBERS ) DIMENSION PROPERTIES [Z_WM_IS01___F12].[2Z_WM_IS01___F12], [Z_WM_IS01___F1].[2Z_WM_IS01___F1] ON ROWS FROM [ZWM_M02/Z_ZWM_M02_Q001] failed to execute with the error Unknown error. (WIS 10901)
But if i create the Universe on Query which is built on DSO then WebI is working fine.
Is there any restrictions on using Query on multiprovider?
Or do I have to make any configuration at BO server?
How do I configure logging for WebI and Designer to check the Log records?
Do I have to change anything related to any MDX Parser in BO Server?
We are using folowing versions:
SAP BI 7.0 and BOXIR3.1
Request to pls help me to solve this problem.Thanks Ravi for ur inputs.
The report is working fine now.
There was the problem with the Mandatory prompts defined in SAP BI Query on which universe was developed.
U should have only those Prompts as mandatory in SAp BI Query which are Universe level prompt, if some mandatory prompts defined as Class level promts in universe then the MDX Query generated based on WEBI report will not Execute. -
