[SOLVED] cups installation: package version 1.2.12-1 exits with error

Hi,
I installed cups, gutenprint and cups-pdf packages today. But cups does not work when launched as a daemon in /etc/rc.conf. The error it spits out is-
cupsd: Child exited on signal 15!
I had libcups installed before installing cups, as dependency for some other package. I have an Epson Stylus C43SX printer, which connects via parallel port. I have configured it successfully before, and it is well supported.
Anyone else having such an issue with cups ? Any suggestions on how to fix this ?

  • Oracle Communicator installer exit with error 1904

When i launch the Oracle communicator setup to install on Windows, i obtain the message in a popup window :
    "Error 1904. Module C:\Program Files\Oracle\Oracle Communicator\GIPSTron.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147024770."
If i choose to ignore this error the setup abort later.
I tried to remove Communicator KEYs from the register without success.
    Thanks for help

    Hello ,
I understand that Oracle Communicator is only supported on Windows XP but I would like to know if anybody successfully installed it on Windows Vista as I get a dialog error almost at the end of the install process that says :
"Microsoft Visual c++ Runtime Library Error , This application has requested the application to terminate in an unusual way"
when I dismiss the dialog I get another one :
"Oracle Communicator Setup Error 1722, there is a problem with the windows installer package..."
    Any suggestion is welcome,
    Thanks.

  • Archsetup exitting with error. Install package step

I set the packages I want (I need wireless capabilities) and when I go to the install packages step the installer exits with the errors
cat: /tmp/aif/aif-pacman_installpkg-exit: No such file or directory
rm: cannot remove '/tmp/air/aif-pacman_installpkg-ext': No such file or directory
/usr/lib/aif/core/libs/lib-misc.sh: line 90: kill: Can't: arguments must be process or job IDs
ERROR: Internal AIF error, the following call failed: wait_for pacman_installpkg
Can't open input file in dialog_tailbox().. This should never happen
I then try to rerun arch setup, but the process seems to be still active so when I go to redo my file partioning (which it says I have to redo again). It cant unmount my / partition.
So I checked out fuser, and nothing came up, then I tried killall root. And still nothing. So I rebooted fresh and restarted and got the same situation again.
Any suggestions? google sort of failed me...
    extra info:
    cdrom, netinstall, Wireless WPA connection
edit2: ill try burning new cd.
edit3: burning new cd with coreinstall failed. I tried it again (downloaded coreinstall instead of netinstall too) and the same thing happened.

OK so if anyone ever has these sorts of problems (everything breaking at once). Suggest they burn their cd at slower x value .
    fixed!

  • Flex 4, including assets in installer... ok.. but installer exits with error.

    Hi there,
Currently new with flex 4, working on a project which involves embedded and non-embedded assets, everything works as it should, debugging, or running the application.
But the next step is offcourse building the Release Build which also creates the air file without any errors.
But starting the installer to install it, exits with the message that the installer is corrupt, and stops the installation.
What i've done sofar to isolate the problem:
    - removed the dependecy of another project by including the files in the main project. (no change)
    - created a new project, and included all the files from the orignal to the new one. (no change)
    - removed the assets folder from the src folder and put it up one folder. (now it works!!), but offcourse the images are not in the
installer because they are out of the root structure, thus no images present.
    the assets folder is like:
    + src
      + assets
           + type1
                 {couple of images}.png
           + type2
                 {couple of images}.png
           + type3
                 etc.
                 etc.
so by taking them out is ok, leaving it there generates the error by installing the Release Build.
in the assets folder there are mainly png files, 2 ttf files and 1 swf file.
Hope somebody can help me here, because i'm really stuck here, and really need some help
    Regards,
    Marc

guess i would resync it like you suggested. didnt run into this error before.

  • [SOLVED] Pacman installs old versions of Chrome/Firefox

I just tried to install Chrome and Firefox on a brand new installation of Arch. It turns out Pacman automatically installs Chrome 5 and Firefox 3.6. These are rather outdated versions. According to this page:
    http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=arch
Chrome should be version 13 and FF version 5.
When I run pacman -Syu it tells me nothing to do either...

You really need to do this: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 69#p973869
Your mirrorlist is outdated, you need to get a fresh one.

  • [SOLVED] gem installs packages only to home directory

    Hello!
I need help. I have installed ruby and I'm trying to install it packages. But I have a problem.
All gems I try to install have placed in HOME/.gem directory. Myself home, if I install from my account, or root home, if I use sudo.
    gem help install
This command shows in "Defaults" section that install dir is "/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.9.1". But during installation it ignores this. And even option "--install-dir" have no effect. Packages was installed into HOME directory anyway.
    Thank you.
Last edited by zexar (2012-05-23 13:44:48)

I tried to reinstall whole ruby package and it shows after install
The default location of gem installs is $HOME/.gem/ruby
Add the following line to your PATH if you plan to install using gem
    $(ruby -rubygems -e "puts Gem.user_dir")/bin
If you want to install to the system wide location, you must either:
edit /etc/gemrc or run gem with the --no-user-install flag.
I corrected gemrc and now all working.

  • Error while importing SPAM version 7.0/33 Tp ended with error code 12.

    Hi all,
    Os: Windows 2003 advanced server
    DB: MaxDB 7.6
    SAP: NetWeaver 2004S - (ABAP+JAVA) EP
When i was trying to import latest SAPM on the system. V 7.0/33 it got stopped in the middle at
    IMPORT_PROPER phase.
Please find the error as follows:
The import was stopped, since an error occurred during the phase
IMPORT_PROPER, which the Support Package Manager is unable to resolve
    without your input.
After you have corrected the cause of the error, continue with the
import by choosing Support Package -> Import queue from the initial
screen of the Support Package Manager.
The following details help you to analyze the problem:
         -   Error in phase: IMPORT_PROPER
         -   Reason for error: TP_STEP_FAILURE
         -   Return code: 0012
         -   Error message: OCS Package SAPKD70033, tp step "R", return code
             0012
    Notes on phase IMPORT_PROPER
In this phase repository objects and table entries are imported. This
phase can terminate due to the following reasons:
o   TP_INTERFACE_FAILURE: The tp interface could not be called.
o   TP_FAILURE: The program tp could not be executed. For more
information on this, see the SLOG or ALOG log file.
o   TP_STEP_FAILURE: A tp step could not be executed. To find the cause
of the error, see the appropriate log, such as the import log.
If the cancelation message contains a tp step 6, N or S, the step in
question is independent of the transport request. You can find these
logs under the node Import steps not specific to transport request
         in the log overview.
Alternatively, you can find these logs in the following files in the
log directory of your transport directory (usually:
    /usr/sap/trans/log):
    -   tp Step 6: P<YY><MM><DD>.<SID>
    -   tp Step N: N<YY><MM><DD>.<SID>
    -   tp Step S: DS<YY><MM><DD>.<SID>
You can display these files using the report RSPUTPRT or by calling the
    transaction AL11.
A prerequisite of the Support Package Manager is that the Change and
Transport System (CTS) is configured correctly. For more detailed
information, read the online documentation available from Help -> SAP
Library -> mySAP Technology Components -> SAP Web Application Server ->
    Change and Transport System .
A list of the most important SAP Notes for Online Correction Support
(OCS) is available in SAP Note 97620, which is updated regularly.
In the import log file the errors was :
Program terminated (job: RDDEXECL, no.: 14444101)
    Job log for this job is ;
    Job started
Step 001 started (program RDDEXECL, variant , user ID DDIC)
All DB buffers of application server nanadual were synchronized
    ABAP/4 processor: SYSTEM_RUDI_INVALID
    Job cancelled
Please let me know if you need more details...
    Best Regards,
    Nanda

    Hi Nanda,
Please check your trans log for further details .
It cud be caused due to unavailability of RDDIMPDP batch job which is mandatory for any SPAM / SP updates to work.
If this is the case you wud require to trigger the batch job RDDIMPDP using report RDDNEWPP(From SE38). This needs to be triggered in 000 as well as other existing clients too.
once this is done please resume your SPAM Update. it shud go ahead.
Next possibility that you cud check is updating your tp / R3trans with latest available from Service market place.
    Hope this helps you.
    Regards,
    Prem

Elements 10 Organizer\mc_codecs\mc_demux_mp2_ds.ax seems to be the culprit.
    Any ideas?

  • [solved]making aur package md5deep returns validity check

when I attempt to create a installable package from the aur md5deep, I get this error:
    Validating source files with md5sums...
    md5deep-4.3.tar.gz ... FAILED
==> ERROR: One or more files did not pass the validity check!
In detail, this is what I did as non root user:
    1. downloaded this https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/md/m … eep.tar.gz
    2. put it in ~/builds
    3. tar xvzf md5deep-4.3.tar.gz in above dir
    3. changed into the md5deep dir.
    4. makepkg -s
    5. got the error above.
I have successfully built other packages using aur.
Anyone see what I am doing wrong?
Maybe someone try to build this and let me know if the problem appears for others?
    Any tip or help appreciated.
    Steve.

    Steve.
You are doing nothing wrong.  You are being protected as intended.
What has happened is that a source file you have downloaded is not the same file that was downloaded by he who created the PKGBUILD.
One of a few things have happened:
The upstream author has changed something (bug fix) and replaced the original file.  In this case, you are trying to build something that is different than that which was tested by the packager.
    -or-
There is a man in the middle who is attempting to trick you into running a version of the program with malicious code in it.  Either you have to find a real version, or verify by reading the code that it is okay (not recommended)
    -or-
The file you downloaded is just corrupted.  Try deleting the downloaded source and try again.
What can you do?  If you trust the downloaded file, perform a makepkg -g.
It will download the source (if necessary) and will spit out the MD5 checksums for the files.  Take those md5sums and edit the PKGBUIKLD; replace the md5sums in the file with the new ones you generated.  Then, try a makepkg again to build it this time.
Also, be sure to file a bug report in the AUR.

BornQueen: try the following user tip with that one:

backlineguy: No, BornQueen's post was what is generally referred to as a "threadjack". I asked the hosts to branch it out into its own topic so not to cause (too much more) confusion in your topic. I'll reply to you off in your topic in a minute.
