[Solved] dwb can't display HTML5 videos

Hello,
I have discovered dwb, which really interests me as a lightweight alternative to massive browsers such as Chromium. However, I don't use Flash (bleeehhhh), and I've discovered that I could not display HTML5 videos (only with dwb, that is, because Chromium does fine).
As an example, the Vimeo player (which is HTML5-based) displays this message: "Major bummer. The video can't be played with your current setup". I must add that I use dwb-git, and according to the wiki's instructions, I ran this when I noticed the bug:

Here are the user-agent strings compared. The main difference is the lack of image/webp acceptance in dwb.

I have searched dwb's website, which mentions the use of youtube-dl via an userscript. If I'm not able to fix this, I'll use the script, but in-browser videos would be more comfortable. I stumbled upon this bug report, so my hopes aren't that high ... Could you help me sort this out ?

The mods can merge it into the dwb thread. You're more likely to get a response from the person who developed it in the dwb thread.

Safari 5.1.7 Beach Balls when displaying HTML5 video

Hello all,
I'm coming to you guys with an extremely annoying bug in Safari 5.1.7 (it's been fixed in 6.0, but Apple won't update Snow Leopard machines to the new version).
I have an HTML5 video at http://safaba.clients.numonium.com that is supposed to play above the homepage slideshow when you click the play button in the first slide (the slideshow fades out, video player fades in).
This aforementioned works properly in the following browsers:
Firefox (current version - 16.0.1)
Chrome (current version - 22.0.1229.94)
Microsoft Internet Explorer 9
Microsoft Internet Exploer 8 (uses SWF fall-back, but properly transitions to the video and plays the SWF)
Safari (current version - 6.0)
Safari for iOS, iPhone
Safari for iOS, iPad (you have to hit the "play" button twice to get it to play... another issue)

Safari 5.1.7, however, completely goes unresponsive under some circumstances, inconsistently:
When you click the "play" button on the first slide to launch the video player
If the above works, the video might play for two seconds then go unresponsive
If the above works, the video might play until you seek
If the above works, the video might play until you send a scroll event
The browser sometimes (albeit rarely) plays the video flawlessly, but only once completely loaded. If the video does, in fact, play properly, clearing the cache would revive the aforementioned issues. Therefore, I think this bug has to do in how Safari loads the video upon page load.
I've done just about everything I can think of (if I go to the video directly - http://safaba.clients.numonium.com/images/videos/homepage-slideshow/homepage-sli deshow.mp4), the video will play after a few seconds of loading.
So I would greatfully appreciate any and all help anyone can offer - thanks!

I should also mention that when Safari beach-balls, I don't see CPU, bandwidth, or Disk I/O spike (in fact, they're all close to 0), and only about 50% of the computer's RAM is used.

When I go to the video with Safari on my Mac, I got the message Flash PlugIn missing.
How can I configure Safari on my Mac that it requests HTML5 videos?

There are ways to check & see if you can change the default in browser
so HTML5 is available, if supported. Safari should support it...

There may be others, but this one allows certain functions in lieu of Flash.
Actually, YouTube supposedly now streams HTML5 video -- by default.

XAV 622 can't display ipod video

Does anyone know the specific criteria that the XAV is looking to be able to display the video from the ipod?
I have the RC-202IPV cable and I format the file using the mp4 w/ only 480x320 resolution, but only sound come out and no video on the XAV 622. However, the ipod 4th gen will play the video no problem by itself.
If I download the video from itunes, it will play just fine. Any idea why my own video can't play? Thanks.

How can I disable html5 videos from displaying on web pages?

I use yahoo.com as my "news" page. In the last month or so there are more and more small format videos next to the new article. Used to be just a still pic, but now more "invasive". If I had my way I'd still click on "text only" like the old modem days. I want to READ an article, and I find the video images on their main page, before clicking on a story, to be distracting. Also, I'm on a limited data usage plan so don't appreciate them shoving data down my throat.
Using Firefox 32.0 and Windows 8.1
Yesterday I installed the "No Script" extension thinking I could block Just these videos, but doesn't seem to work that way. It blocks most everything including interactions like clicking on a button.
If I examine the "object" (video) it appears to be an "html5" item. This seems to be something new from what I can google.
There are a few help screens for html5, but these are "how do I play them" instead of "how can I block them".

Try to set the media.autoplay.enabled pref to false on the <b>about:config</b> page.
You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location/address bar.
You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

[solved] dwb browser doesnt play youtube video anymore

hello,
dwb ist just awesome, but since a few days, i cant play youtube videos anymore. i can start them, i can hear the sound, i can move my mouse to the time strip to see the picture at that point of time, but i dont get a video. the video screen is simply black. i dont have this problem with my other webkit browsers like luakit or uzbl.
any ideas?

could someone that uses the dwb or luakit browser send me his useragent string entry? i still have some problems on some specific sites with mine! (i recognized, that youtube works when i change the useragent, but then i have problems on other sites)

Quicktime pro can't display H264 video

I have a several avi video files that are H264 for video and Microsoft ADPCM for the sound track.
Quicktime Pro can play audio (but no video) and VLC can play video (but no audio) for this format.
I have tried installing Perian, uninstalling Perian and upgrading to Quicktime Pro, all to no avail.
When I try to open the avi file in quicktime, quicktime states that it is missing a component and if I continue, it opens a browser to thttp://www.apple.com/quicktime/resources/components.html?os=OSX&ctype=696d6463&c subtype=48323634
I thought the H264 codec was a core to QuickTime Pro, so I am very confused. I would appreciate any suggestings.

Sorry for the late reply. I had just did a search on this and still couldn't find the solution.
Anyways with a little self reseach, I found it to be somewhat of a a little "hidden" fucntion.
But once I found it... WoLLA!!
To merge to clips together:
1. Open the clip you want to merge (clip B)
2. Go to top menu navigation Edit > Add Clip to End...
3. Quicktime will open a window to select the clip you want to merge.
4. Choose that clip (clip A)
That's it.

How can I display Flash Videos without any Flex application decoration

I develop a flv video player with Flex3 and have problems to
get rid of the application decoration (frame, border and the like)
that is part of a standard Flex application. My video player is
200px x 200px and I only wanna see what the video shows, so that

It is not clear to me if this can be reached through special

[SOLVED] Firefox can't display jpegs

Anybody else having issues with this one? I don't even know where to start. I checked if it was the libjpeg library, as I has some issue with that previously, but I have the same setup on a similar computer which doesnt have this problem...

Yeah I tried that, didn't work for me. It's not a computer I'll be using very much anyway, so I can make the sheep use Opera instead.

Why can't iPod Touch 2nd Generation play html5 video?

I have just upgraded my 2nd iPod Touch's OS 3.1.3 to iOS4, but it can't play html5 video on iPad-ready sites like (http://tv.robbreport.com/). My iPhone 3GS and iPad can play html5 videos on this website smoothly.

I'd like to report further that after changing the wallpaper the iPod Touch has somehow stopped being able to play either video or audio.

HTML5 Video won't play in Safari, when frameset used

I'm the Product Manager for a company who has a product that revolves around video. We've noticed that while we can get the HTML5 video capability in Safari on the iPad working fine in a test harness, as soon as we place that harness in the simplest of framesets (with the video area clearly visible), the video's "play" command no longer works. Oddly enough, the video object's properties can be read/written, but it appears that the "play" function itself does not work (and presumably the pause and load functions). The frustrating thing is that the video does appear to be loading - if you change currentTime to a different position, you can see the video frame at that position. The media just won't play.

...also, when I use the video's tags "controls" (shows player controls within the embed), Play/Pause DOES work. So, it appears to be a bug with the scripting layer.

[Solved] After watching several youtube html5 720p videos, Firefox (version 33) display or screen turns black and aero transparency in windows 7 turns opaque.

Hello ! I just want to share something familiar with that black display or screen occurs for some people. When I watch youtube videos, I used to watch them in html5 720p videos (not flash videos, https://www.youtube.com/html5 ). I upgraded firefox to version 33. No black display when I used it. Randomly and after watching several html5 videos on youtube, aero transparency in my windows 7 turns opaque and firefox display goes all black. Firefox doesn't respond at any command. I need to kill his process in task manager in order to close it. When I open firefox again, normal display goes. To relaunch aero transparency in windows 7, I need to restart the service whose name is, I think, "Desktop Window Manager Session Manager". I use windows 7 in french and the service name is "Gestionnaire de sessions de Gestionnaire de fenetrage".
To solve this, I upgraded my graphic driver but this didn't work. I tried to put "layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled" to false in "about:config" menu. No random black display but some html elements turned black for some seconds or definitely when firefox rendered web pages. I tried to uncheck "Use hardware acceleration when available" in options menu. No random black display but html5 720p videos didn't play smoothly.
Then, I chose to watch youtube 720p videos again with flash player and no random black display and html5 720p videos played normally.

This is happening to me too, I don't know if this is an Adobe Flash Player 11.5's bug or it's just my computer. All my browsers, chrome, IE9, Fox, doesn't even load anime videos. I tried reinstalling 11.5 many times, it have no effect but I use IE9 64-bit to run the videos that couldn't run. I waited 25 min for a JW player to load an episode of anime and I'm sick of it.

Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:
Apple's iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.)
Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)
NeoOffice (similar to Open Office.)
LibreOffice (a new direction for the Open Office suite.)
