[SOLVED]Error opening PCM device hw:0,0

I am trying to use Jesusonic, but I get the following error:
mmanu > Desktop/jesusonic-0.991-linux-x86/jesusonic -mode ALSA -nbufs 2
Jesusonic v0.991 - Copyright (C) 2004-2005 Cockos Incorporated
Using output mode: 'ALSA'
Opening ALSA 'hw:0,0' for read
Opening ALSA 'hw:0,0' for write
Error opening PCM device hw:0,0
My audio card is an integrated Intel one:
Audio device: Intel Corporation module: snd-hda-intel
82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller
I am not very expert with audio devices and functionality, so is there anything I can look up or do to solve this problem?
Thank you for your time

My lack of understanding is really showing here...
The default format for alsa is implicitly defined like this:
jesusonic -mode ALSA -in hw:0,0 -out hw:0,0
I'm posting this in the hope that someone that knows hardware will be able to tell you how to identify the proper address. Of course another (very hackish) solution is to just try some other value like hw:0,1 on both. 0,0 and 0,1 work on my machine, but it fails with the same error you have on 0,2.

This is from XFCE's terminal.  If I run xterm and run htop out of it, it works.  htop isn't the only app that is complaining about the terminal right now though

    When you open a large
2010 word document in word 2013, it can yield an error of type:
We're sorry. We can't open XXXXX.docx because we found a problem with its contents.
    Details:

To fix this error, you have to rename the .docx to a zip file, delete the file Websettings.xml and then rename back to a docx.

To fix this error, you have to rename the .docx to a zip file, delete the file Websettings.xml and then rename back to a docx.
I've been having the same error and this solution worked for me. It seems to be linked to documents built using Mendeley's reference plugin for Word. This issue is mentioned on their support site (here)
and that may be why the issue comes up with dissertations &c. The fix is easy and it works, but I would suggest you do the fix using a
copy of your document. That way if anything goes wrong you still have the original.

I was using Aperture (3.4.1), when he appeared a notice that asked me to stop the Mac with the power button. When I restart Aperture no longer opens and the following message appears: There was an error opening the database for the library "/ Users / Andrea / Pictures / Aperture 3 Library.aplibrary."

    Thanks

After a system crash your Aperture Library may be corrupted, because Aperture may not have been able to finish the ongoing database transactions.
Have you tried the Aperture Library First Aid Tools?
Aperture 3 User Manual: Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library
Try "Repair Database", and if this does not help: "Rebuild Database"

  • Getting an error 'Cannot open Boot device' while trying to install Solaris

    Hi,
We were trying to install Solaris * on a Sun Sparc system and the CD rom drive does not seem to get recognised. When we try booting from cd rom we get an error 'Cannot open boot device' .
This server was up & running and we were trying to remove a hard disk that had failed and modified the vfstab script . After that the system failed to even boot up. So when we tried reinstalling the OS we are running into this problem.
Am new to this technology ...And any help would be greatly appreciated. .....
    Thanks

Cdrom drive must be scsi device 6
I assume you are running < boot cdrom> at the ok prompt
also at the ok prompt run the command <probe-scsi> (without the angled brackets) you need to see the following:

If not, check the cdrom drive and the cdrom inside
    hope this helps

  • [SOLVED] [GRUB error] "no such device" "vmlinuz-linux not found"

    SOLUTION AT POST #11
I just completed the install process onto a new machine.  Grub starts but then returns these error messages.
Booting 'Arch GNU/Linux, with Linux core repo kernel'
    error: no such device: ad4103fa-d940-47ca-8506-301d8071d467.
Loading Linux core repo kernel ...
    error: file '/boot/vmlinuz-linux' not found.
    Loading initial ramdisk ...
error: you need to load the kernel first.
    Press any key to continue...
I installed Arch via a flashdrive (sdb), onto SATA port 1 (sda).  SDA has a fresh MBR.  Unfortunately, I have no way to post my grub config files.  What files must I modify to get GRUB to work properly?
    fstab: http://sprunge.us/SVMi
    grub.cfg: http://sprunge.us/hQCB
    Edit: Thread solved.

    SOLUTION
    by: jynnantonix
Step 1: Start Arch via boot disc.
    Step 2: Connect to internet.
    Step 3: Mount partitions.
    # swapon dev/sdX
    # mount /dev/sdX /mnt
    # mount /dev/sdX /mnt/home
    # mount /dev/sdX /mnt/boot
    Step 4: Chroot
    # arch-chroot /mnt
    Step 5: Remake grub.conf
    # grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
    Another Notable Tip by: jynnantonix
If you need to post information from terminal to the internet, use the following:
    [insert command here] | curl -F 'sprunge=<-' http://sprunge.us
    example: ls -l /dev/disk/by-uuid/ | curl -F 'sprunge=<-' http://sprunge.us
    example: cat /boot/grub/grub.cfg | curl -F 'sprunge=<-' http://sprunge.us

  • DVD Burn problem. "Device error - the target device isn't suitable for use"

    Hello everyone,
I initially had a lot of problems with PE8. However the nVidia driver update solved most of them.
Just thought it was important to report success as well as failure!
However one problem remains. I get the following error at the 96% mark while burning. "Device error - the target device isn't suitable for use". It is always at the 96% mark and the program is "compiling [something]" when this happens.
Having searched this site I notice that user rgferg posted a similar problem 13 days ago but was redirected to repost in a different place, but never did.
I have tried to burn a 1hr clip 4 times and every time I have selected the slower burn speed (8MB/s) as has been suggested. It seems that inferior media is a culprit, so I have bought some [quality] Verbatim DVD-R media to try in my Phillips SATA optical drive. I am sceptical this will work, but open minded nonetheless. I will give it a whirl when my computer has stopped capturing the VHS I am working on.
Each time the burn failed the disk was automatically ejected and the burn process had actually started and progressed perhaps ~40% or so.
This indicates to me that it is a drive sharing issue, rather than a media issue. Somewhere on this forum it suggests that I go through a 20+ step process and delete/disable every piece of software that can compete with Premiere among other things. IF I do this what do I burn with outside of Adobe? Do I have to get imgburn or whatever it was called? What if I like Nero? Nero 6 has worked great for me for 3 years.
So given I am willing to uninstall my old optical drive burning software, who out there can recommened commercial software that for them creates a painless Adobe burning experience with no errors or conflicts? Perhaps there is another solution that I did not see on this forum?
I am running Windows XP SP3. I have the latest nVidia drivers for my SLI GeForce 7600 GS cards. I have 3 monitors. RAID 0 SATA, 2GB RAM, Athlon X2 5400.
    Justin.

OK been working through the list of 20 things Adobe recommends to fix DVD burn error. No luck yet:
    system meets minimum requirements
Project size does not exceed disk capacity
successfully burned project to DVD folder -thus skip to step 8.
      8.   Using new blank media for burning
      9.   Try different media and DVD burners. Bought Verbatim DVD-R. Don't have another DVD burner. Adobe's supported burner list is VERY short, so of course mine is not on it.
      10.  Uninstalled Nero 6. Did NOT uninstall Acronis True Image workstation or Lightscribe. These do not access the drive unless I say so!
      11.  Have not yet disabled startup items and services. This will take a lot of work and will leave to last. Deactivated Spybot thus far.....
      12.  Disabled IMAPI CD burning COM
      13.  DMA if available already set. Haven't set this in BIOS yet. I already think it is, but will check next boot.
      14.  Updated DVD firmware
      15.  Already updated nVidia drivers
      16.  Don't have any other DVD drives to disconnect.
      17.  MPEG workaround. Will resort to if required.
      18.  Disable Autoplay? XP only has "prompt me each time to choose an action". I have set this for ALL file types.
      19.  Have NOT refreshed the DVD drivers in the registry. This step involves uninstalling PE8. Will leave this as last resort.
      20.  Visit forums to see if other have the same problem. Hi guys
So still working through some of the items above.
Can anyone direct me to advice on how to write the encoded files sent to the hard drive, or the VOB files that PE8 failed to burn to a disk? Will the former work with DVD menus?
    What a process.
    Stay tuned.
    Justin.

  • [SOLVED]Error when using Optirun + Nouveau

    Hi guys,
I'm trying to install nouveau to work with bumblebee. When I just installed the system and tried to run optirun, it gave me some sort of error about not detecting a mouse, which I solved by looking around some forums and installing some xf86 mouse driver. At this point it still didn't work, but after restarting a few times at one point it miraculously started working. So I left it at that.
I tried optirun again today, not changing any of the configurations, and it gives me the following error:
    $ optirun glxgears
[ 582.847234] [ERROR]Cannot access secondary GPU - error: [XORG] (EE) NOUVEAU(0): [drm] failed to set drm interface version.
[ 582.847265] [ERROR]Aborting because fallback start is disabled.
I completely reinstalled the following packages: bumblebee, bbswitch, xf86-video-nouveau, xf86-video-intel and primus (I didn't reinstall mesa as I had some dependencies on it) and it still gives me the same error. At no point did I install the proprietary drivers.
    This is my hardware:
    $ lspci | grep VGA

Ok, so I have an update:
I managed to make it work. The first thing I did was follow the instructions here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 0#p1326090
This did not solve the issue, so I'm not sure if this was a necessary step, but it made the boot screen look nicer.
Then I randomly decided to modprobe nouveau. So I did rmmod nouveau, followed by modprobe nouveau while checking dmesg. It seemed to have done something. So I retried optirun and it worked.
However, it was giving me 60FPS, same as the intel card. Also it was giving me something about "failed to load any of the libraries: /usr/$LIB/nvidia/libGL.so.1", which is weird since I don't have nvidia installed. Also, when I quit glxgears, it sometimes shut the screen and fan of the computer off.
The error message was along the lines of
    293 frames in 5.0 seconds = 58.481 FPS
primus: warning: dropping a frame to avoid deadlock
XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server ":0"
after 37 requests (37 known processed) with 0 events remaining.
primus: warning: dropping a frame to avoid deadlock
primus: warning: timeout waiting for display worker
On a hunch I changed Bridge=virtualgl in /etc/bumblebee/bumblebee.conf, and then it worked fine.
When I run primusrun it no longer looks for the library in the nvidia folder and there is a libGL.so.1 file in /usr/lib/primus, however optirun works fine while primusrun gives me 60 FPS and the error above when quitting. Does anyone know how to fix that?
Edit: after restart primusrun again gives
primus: fatal: failed to load any of the libraries: /usr/$LIB/nvidia/libGL.so.1
/usr/$LIB/nvidia/libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
while optirun works. Will snoop around.
Other than that, hope this helped someone. I saw this error everywhere with no solution.
Fina Edit: Ok, so the libGL file needs to come from mesa, but it's looking for the nvidia because for some reason mesa-libgl didn't install with mesa. So: uninstalled primus, installed mesa-libgl, reinstalled primus. Now fully works. Marking as solved.

  • [SOLVED] error after lastest systemd update

After latest updates I get this message while booting:
systemd-udevd[137]: error opening ATTR{/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1a.1/usb2/2-1/2-1:1.0/power/control} for writing: No such file or directory
which is due there is no file /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1a.1/usb2/2-1/2-1:1.0/power/control, the directory is there but no file 'control'.
    Is this a bug?
    Thanks in advance!
