[SOLVED]eth0 constantly connected, disconnected, then connect....

i am using networkmanager to connect a static IP network
Previously, everything goes fine.
After a recent upgrade,
eht0 constantly connected, disconnected, and then connect, then disconnect
Occasionally, it can be connected stably
At the same time, the wlan connects as usual.
when i turn into Win7, everything goes fine.

dmesg output when you disconnect?
Have you tried different software, such as wicd, or downgraded networkmanager to see if reverts back to its previous behaviour?

My iphone4 when connected to any computer will not charge and is constantly connecting and disconnecting.  It does the same with itunes so it doesnt really sync.  Also when talking to someone, all of a sudden they cant hear me.

I'm having the same issue. I went to my local apple store and they could not work me into the genius bar so i made an appointment for tomorrow morning. The clerk did check the phone for the pink indicators at the top and bottom of the phone (where you plug in your USB or headphones) He said if you can see a pink indicator dot you may have gotten it wet, or had some sort of condensation in it, which could cause the plugs to not work.
In regards to people not being able to hear you, i'm waiting for my appointment tomorrow for more news! I would recommend taking it into your local apple store for more answers.

  • [Solved]Share internet connection

    Hi guys
I know the title seems kinda dumb but maybe is not as easy as it seems (or im having a brain segmentation fault).
What i want to do is this, i have a wireless router on the living room and i just bought a PC and put it in my bedroom i alredy had a netbook and i want to have internet connection in my PC i see 3 options:
    1. buy a giant ethernet cable, and pay like 25 euros, or 2 not so big cables a put a switch in the midle and pay even more
    2. buy a wireless card for my PC, pay 15 euros and it will problably not work in linux
    3. connect my netbook to the wireless then connect PC and netbook via ethernet cable (crossover right?) and share internet connection
I rather option number 3 (in long term i will eventually go with number 2) but i dont know how to do it.
Alredy tried windows to windows but of course Microshit didnt put Internet Connection Share on windows 7 starter version (the one theat came up with the netbook).
I only have Windows on the PC yet cause i want internet so i can install arch so option 3 has to be linux-to-Windows(i also want internet on windows, not because i use it that much but you never know), but then when i install arch how i will i get the packges to configure the network without internet.
Anyway i will problably try to talk to my Network Fundaments Teacher in College next week but i wanted this working this weekend so i could install arch.
Help me please just bought the tower and i cant do shit with it (no internet no graphics card)
    Sorry for my poor english

  • Premiere Elements 12.1 Constantly Connecting To The Internet When Running

    Hi there!
I have an issue with Premiere Elements 12.1 constantly connecting to the Internet when running... it looks like it is either trying to connect to something or downloading something.
Premiere runs OK, but it is very slow: this is due to it trying to connect. (We've proved this by running the program without the Internet disabled... it sits at about 13,000K in memory... and works fine).
Anybody got any idea why it is connecting to the Internet in the first place and how we can stop it doing it.
We believe this issue started when we updated to v 12.1... but can't be sure!
We have tried uninstalling and re-installing it... same problem. We're virus checked till all night... nothing found (no root kits, nothing etc.)
We're running Win XP Service Pack 3, 32 bit... I know 'Windows XP is old etc. etc. etc.'. Yet it still works great and is nice and fast for us here.
    Any advice/suggestions greatly received!
    Thanks in advance,
    GRBaker

    Hi Steve,
Thanks a bunch for the post... we're certainly experiencing no other issues besides the 'downloading' issue on Premiere... various virus/spyware etc. scans have revealed nothing. There's nothing odd in the Startup or process list...
PC operates entirely as normal... no unusual performance lags/Internet disconnections etc. No issues with other software, so far, after installing Elements.
So we're currently leaving the program on to 'download' (or whatever it is doing), so it could be that it will eventually stop constantly accessing the Internet.
We are already in contact with Adobe and they are keeping pretty tight-lipped about what it might be doing... saying (so far) only that Photoshop Elements/Premiere 12 does connect to CloudFront to 'download fonts'... (they were also basically indicating they thought it was our PC/a faulty install until we mentioned we knew it was CloudFront it was trying to connect to...)
...if the applications need to download stuff, then all Adobe has to say is 'it's perfectly normal, just wait for it to complete' then we would not be worried! All it needs is a simple notice to say that 'some additional downloads are required': give us a progress bar or something... no problem!
I can't think why else it would be connecting to the Internet???? (Well, a couple do come to mind..!)
We did pay for the download version of the software (we don't have physical installation DVDs) from one of Adobe's Registered resellers, so maybe that has something to do with it.
I suspect you are 100% correct and that it isn't in fact a bug, bit simply some additional data/content that needs to download etc. If this is the case, then maybe it is related to our broadband speed (which can variable as we live in a rural location).
As you say, if it was a bug everybody would have it! There is that thread I mentioned above, but that's for a previous version of elements I think... to me, as the user experiencing the issue, it definitely looks like a bug as it's rendering the software unstable!
Most likely it's just our bad luck and there's something specific to my installation that's tripping the software and causing the issue. I suppose it depends how you define 'bug'... if it's a normal operation of the software that just happens to disagreeing with my system... than Adobe would say 'that's not a bug'... but I would say 'it's a bug as it causes this problem'. It simply a question of perspective!
Anyway, it's mystifying to me: the software runs GREAT, when it's not trying to access the Internet. It's weird. You certainly can't complain, for price, it really is excellent software!
    Cheers,
    GRB

  • I borked my server... (can't get eth0 to connect to router)

    Hello,
While trying to fix another problem, I inadvertently screwed up my entire server.
I went ahead an replaced my /etc/resolv.conf file to point to the OpenDNS servers; before, it was using my router as a nameserver (192.168.1.1), and the router then used the OpenDNS servers. Well, I restarted the server without thinking of the consequences (>.<), and now the networking on my server is useless...
I've tried to add my old nameserver (router) back to the resolv.conf file and run `/etc/rc.d/network restart`, only to have it hang for about a minute and finally fail, while also overwriting resolv.conf in the process to include nothing. I've also tried to restart the server (without restarting networking prior) with a new resolv.conf only to still have it fail.
I've tried creating a /etc/resolv.conf.head file, only to find that it seems to be useless.
I've tried multiple commands with `ifconfig` to try to bring my interface (eth0) to connect to the router, but it doesn't work.
My interface is supposed to get it's IP Address from the router via DHCP, however I have it set up to serve a static DHCP address via a MAC match, thus the server should always be 192.168.1.10. Currently, eth0 displays NO ip address (except a ipv6 ip address, which is useless for me...). Likewise, running `ping 192.186.1.1` it says (paraphrased) "No network connection", further supporting that eth0 doesn't even see the router...
I dunno what else to do. All I need it to do is connect to 192.168.1.1 to get it's IP Address via DHCP and it should be fine after that.
    Any suggestions?

Ugh. I hate log files. My log files are always in a disarray. Can anyone tell me which one specifically I need to look into.
I don't understand how DHCP could have broken. The only thing I changed was resolv.conf. I guess it won't hurt to go with the static method until I fix stuff or re-install Arch. dhcpcd keeps timing out when I try to use it.
    Thanks for the help, btw.

  • [SOLVED] Wireless internet connection problem during installation

    Hi to everyone!
I ask you a help in activating my wireless connection.
I tried to install from the recent ISO (201208 - via CD)
but I found some problems in activating a wireless connection in the first steps
    of the installation guide.
My laptop is a Hp pavilion dv5 1020-el, with an Intel wireless 5100AGN internal interface.
    So I did:
    1) iwconfig to see my devices and the system detects my wlan0.
    2) followed the Wireless_Setup page from wiki to set it
    3) used wpa_supplicant and passphrase to set my ESSID name and wpa key.
    4) iwconfig then showed wlan0 associated with my ESSID, with Power ON and Encryption OFF.
I could not try a connection via ping command.
    Even wpa_supplicant -i wlan0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf did not work.
Maybe the problem is with Encryption OFF.
    Thanks for your attention!
    EDIT:
I solved this way, connecting to an open wireless open  network:
    1.(from boot) I created a profile in /etc/network.d/ from /etc/network.d/examples
    2. started a # netcfg 'my_ESSID'
    3. # ping -c 3 www.google.com
All is ok! I can install Arch Linux from my smartphone as a router.
But I couldn't connect to a WPA protected wireless network yet.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my question. The company who provides the wireless internet service to my apartment complex moved the antenna next to my unit and claims he boosted the power. As the saying goes, "The squeaky wheel gets the grease". I complained almost daily to the apartment manager and she, in turn, griped to the provider which eventually led to the "solution" above. Using Skype is still shaky as the person I'm calling isn't always able to make out what I am saying. So, I use Skype only when I REALLY need to make a phone call. Even though none of your suggestions solved my problem, I am still very, very grateful to all of you who tried. Thank you very, very much! -- Matt

  • Do you need to be constantly connected to wifi or 3G to receive texts from another apple user using iMessage?

Do you need to be constantly connected to wifi or 3G to receive texts from another apple phone user who is using iMessage?

    No.
Much as a missed call while not connected goes to voicemail, a missed text or iMessage while not connected will wait until you are connected, then be delivered.
There is one exception, however.  Many cellular carriers do not support iMessage.  So if you are connected by cellular signal and not WiFi, you will receive the message as an SMS text message using your cellular carrier.

  • We have received charges of £350 for data usage on ipad which is not possible as ipad constantly connected to wifi. What is going on???

We have recently received a bill of £350 from our Orange, our mobile phone provider. These charges are apparently for ipad usage which is impossible as the ipad is constantly connected to the wifi in the house. The ipad never leaves the house as it is only ever used by my special needs child. Orange are arguing about this bill and have now reduced it to £50 but we are fighing this charge too! Can someone help? Advice needed!

Make sure that Cellular is OFF. Go to Settings>Cellular Data>OFF

    Reasons for Drive Failure
Hard drives are mechanical devices with moving parts, so they are subject to expected wear and tear, and can potentially fail mechanically at any given time. But most manufacturers will label their product with an expected average lifespan (usually provided in total expected number of functioning hours). But if a part is faulty or there are some manufacturing defects, a drive's lifespan can be over in as little as a day. Other factors are primarily external in nature. Power surges can cause drive failure, as can fire or water damage, along with a number of computer viruses. Exposure to high levels of magnetism can disrupt the normal functions of a drive, along with sharp impacts. If dust gets into a drive, it can become the catalyst for an eventual failure.
You could try to boot with this. It will test your HD!

  • [SOLVED] Detect HDMI/DP disconnect and recover laptop screen

    Hi,
I have a T430 and sometimes I'm using an HDMI Screen with a mDP to HDMI adapter as a secondary or the only monitor.
I would like to have a script that automatically detects when I unplug the external monitor and switches back to "internal monitor only"-mode.
How can I do this? Where can I get the event from? I don't want to have a script that checks every n secs if the external monitor is still there. An event based script would be better.

I have a T430 with Intel only grafics and this doesn't work.
I've enable the HDMI out and disabled the LVDS out. Then I disconnected the HDMI cable. Nothing happens. When I reattach the HDMI cable the HDMI screen doesn't come back but my LVDS screen comes on.
So it seems to work but only if I reattach the HDMI screen. That's not the behavier I wanted.
    Here are my scripts:
    /usr/local/bin/displaymagic.sh
    #!/bin/bash
    export DISPLAY=:0
    export XAUTHORITY=/home/xengi/.Xauthority
    STATUS="`xrandr --current | grep HDMI1 | cut -d \ -f 2`"
    if [[ "$STATUS" == "disconnected" ]] ; then
    # switch HDMI off and LVDS on
    xrandr --output HDMI1 --off
    xrandr --output LVDS1 --mode 1600x900 --rate 60
    fi
This works great when I run it manually.
    /etc/udev/rules.d/99-hotplug.rules
    ## enable LVDS on HDMI disconnect
    KERNEL=="card0", SUBSYSTEM=="drm", ACTION=="change", RUN+="su xengi -c /usr/local/bin/displaymagic.sh"
This seems to be the tricky part.
    EDIT:
I got it working! Here it is in case somebody else wants it too. Thx for your help.

Say no more.. upgrading to Mavericks.. any upgrade install is prone to issues.. the Mavericks one is the worst of any recent upgrades.
Lets just try and isolate the problem.
In the setup of the AE, give different names to the two wireless bands.. so go into the airport utility.. click the AE, Click edit.. click the wireless tab.. and now type in a new name.
    Try AE24ghz
Then click the wireless options and change the name for the 5ghz..
    Make it AE5ghz
    Then update the AE.
In the computer.. select either band.. and see if your other clients are affected if they use the band that the Mac is not using.
Alternatively turn off wireless in the macbook and use ethernet.. oh please please have a Mac with an ethernet port.. otherwise buy a Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter.. it is well worth having. wireless is never to be trusted.

I've just recently put in brand new batteries into my wireless Bluetooth mouse for iMac and it continuously disconnects itself and will then reconnect itself for only a few minutes, just to disconnect again. It's become impossible to use my computer as my mouse smoky won't connect itself for long enough to do anything. Anyone had this problem before and could help me out?

    HI:
It does not sound like a battery problem.
    Try a couple of things:
    1.          Reset the SMC
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    2.          Reset (if you can) the PRAM
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
If that does not help, delete the mouse in system preferences, turn it off, restart, and turn the mouse back on.

  • My wifi is constantly getting disconnected even though it says i'm still connected.

While i'm just doing random things on the internet and everything seems fine and then all of a sudden if i'm oppening up a link or trying to refresh a page, it just keeps loading and eventually says I have no connection. I then look at my wifi status and it says i'm still connected and have to either wait a minute or two or just turn the wifi on and off again which fixes it instantly for another few minutes. This can be really annoying for online games where I can't even play becasue of my constant dissconections. Is there any way to fix this or is a service provider/ router problem?

When conencted to wifi, go to Settings > General > Date & Time
    And either:
    1. Switch "Set Automatically" to "ON" or
    2. Switch "Set Automatically" to "OFF" and set your time zone manually
