(Solved) fbsetbg: line 153: xmessage: command not found

Hello,
I'm trying to set background image for Fluxbox.
After typing fbsetbg command in xterm I get following error:
$ fbsetbg -f ~/.fluxbox/backgrounds/wallpaper.jpg
/usr/bin/fbsetbg: line 153: xmessage: command not found
The most common way to solve this (according to Internet) is to install xorg-apps, but there is no xmessage app under it.

    You need to install xorg-apps. xmessage is included with this package.

  • [SOLVED]/usr/lib/arch-tempfiles line 106: install:command not found

    Hi everyone!
    This is my boot.log
    http://pastebin.com/1gfynhSN
    It says"/usr/lib/initscripts/arch-tmpfiles:line 106: install:command not found".This is leading to problems such as dbus and network manager not being started(even manually),no shutdown option,not able to 'open' log files without sudo  etc.
    I think a possible reason for this is that I had messed up with symlinks.I had issued the command
    sudo ln -s /bin/install /usr/bin/install
    .Then I had used
    cd /bin/
    unlink install
    Now,I find that /bin/install and /usr/bin/install does not exist.(I have deleted them!) .How can I fix this up?Any help would be appreciated.

    Reinstall coreutils (or manually extract install from the package and put it in /usr/bin).

  • SOLVED /usr/bin/makepkg: line 552: build: command not found

    I'm trying to build a custom kernel, but am receiving this error:
    /usr/bin/makepkg: line 552: build: command not found
    I've searched all over for a fix, but haven't had any luck, it doesn't seem to be a common error, or it's so incredibly easy to fix that noone has bothered
    Thanks for any help.

    It looks like you might not have patch installed.  What happens when you type
    pacman -Q patch
    If you get an error that the patch package is not found, install base-devel.

    I'm trying to get nwn-diamond going, and when I try to build binkplayer I get the error:: line 20: unrar: command not found
    So- I think I need to edit my .bashrc but like in this wiki https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Core_Utilities
    but I dont really know how to go about doing that. I need a super simple step by step to get me started on something like this.

    Okay thank you for the first help, that took care of it, but a new issue is up, When it starts the build I get this error.
    I do have a NWN Diamond DVD and it is in the drive- how do I make the builder look to the drive?

    Hi!
    After 6 hours of experimenting, disconnecting devices, formatting my hard drive (joy!) and getting nowhere, I found the problem: apparently, Leopard has trouble dealing with some characters in the volume name (in my case it was '). Rename the volume to something simple, short and with no weird characters and the Leopard will install.
    And, to Apple: I'm very disappointed with the quality of the Leopard install. If a character is valid in OS X, the setup should support it!
    Best regards,
    IYan

    1.first thing i just added the line
    ExportToLocalRepository /var/cache/pacman/pkg-local
    to the bottom of the yaourtrc file as per the wiki and ended up with the error.
    /etc/yaourtrc: line 49: ExportToLocalRepository: command not found
    2.after falconindy's idea i added #
    #ExportToLocalRepository /var/cache/pacman/pkg-local
    but now i dont see the error but then package is not getting saved in the pkg-local folder.
    3.karol i tried your step,but still the packages are not saved in the pkg-local folder.
    this is yaourtrc file after the edits but still packages are not saved....

    I have update at now. But I get error:
    /etc/rc.sysinit mountpoint: command not found

    $ whereis mountpoint
    mountpoint: /bin/mountpoint /usr/share/man/man1/mountpoint.1.gz
    tomas@lappy: ~ $ grep mountpoint /etc/rc.sysinit
    mountpoint -q /proc || mount -n -t proc proc /proc -o nosuid,noexec,nodev
    mountpoint -q /sys || mount -n -t sysfs sys /sys -o nosuid,noexec,nodev
    mountpoint -q /run || mount -n -t tmpfs run /run -o mode=0755,size=10M,nosuid,nodev
    mountpoint -q /dev || mount -n -t devtmpfs udev /dev -o mode=0755,size=10M,nosuid \
    mountpoint -q /dev/pts || mount -n /dev/pts &>/dev/null \
    mountpoint -q /dev/shm || mount -n /dev/shm &>/dev/null \
    tomas@lappy: ~ $ pacman -Qo mountpoint
    /bin/mountpoint is owned by util-linux 2.20.1-1
    tomas@lappy: ~ $
    there you have some info to poke around your system;
    is /bin hosted in your root partition?
    do you have util-linux installed?

  • [SOLVED] Make Bash Completion Error (Command Not Found)

    When attempting to tab complete the `make` command, I am met with the following when I hit tab:
    $ make s[tab]bash: 23:set: command not found
    Strangely, if I continue hitting tab, it seems to work eventually, but with the same error popping up:
    $ make s[tab]bash: 23:set: command not found
    ched.[tab]bash: 23:set: command not found
    [tab]bash: 23:set: command not found
    sched.1.gz sched.tar.gz
    $ make sched.
    I've never seen anything like this.  I've tried reinstalling bash completion and make to no success.  The Makefile itself is fine and functional.  Other programs' bash completions seem to work just fine.  Help!

    It seems the problem no longer occurs.  The only change that seems to have happened is a bash-completion upgrade that happened yesterday.  I'm a bit disappointed to have not found the actual issue.

  • [solved] hostname command not found

    Some months ago i've got this problem:
    startx: line 127 hostname command not found
    that i solved with
    pacman -S net-tools
    Today the problem is here again O.o
    I've reinstalled net-tools and coreutils but nothing

    http://mailman.archlinux.org/pipermail/ … 21397.html
    Edit: inetutils from [testing] http://www.archlinux.org/packages/testi … inetutils/ have the hostname binary and it was removed from the [testing] net-tools http://www.archlinux.org/packages/testi … net-tools/
    Packages in [core] still work the old way: net-tools provides hostname.

  • [solved] gconfpkg: command not found

    From my pacman output:
    (11/14) upgrading fusion-icon
    ==> Updating icon-cache.....
    /tmp/alpm_Napi2c/.INSTALL: line 32: gconfpkg: command not found
    error: command failed to execute correctly
    I reinstalled gconf and re-updated fusion-icon, the installation completed succesfully.
    This has happened before, should I be worried?
    p.s. these errors are not logged in pacman.log!

    problem solved, the location of gconfpkg wasn't in PATH
    locate gconfpkg
    /usr/sbin/gconfpkg
    I added /usr/sbin to the PATH definition in /etc/profile. Rebooted and all was working as it should

  • Mkinitcpio err: command not found [solved]

    I rebuilt fbsplash yesterday and get this error when running 'mkinitcpio -p kernel26'
    -> Parsing hook: [fbsplash]
    /lib/initcpio/install/fbsplash: line 90: err: command not found
    Line 90 reads
    err "Theme invalid or not found: '$theme'"
    The maintainer of fbsplash reported that 'err' is a function in /lib/initcpio/init_functions which is part of the package mkinitcpio.
    However looking through the other scripts in /lib/initcpio/install/ this is the only one which uses this command and thus the only one producing the error.
    Is it not valid?

    This. The 'err' function no longer exists.
    http://projects.archlinux.org/mkinitcpi … 88108eb385
    Yes, I have updated to the latest release of mkinitcpio in [core]. It's 0.7.2-1. And the function 'err' is still in /lib/initcpio/init_functions which is part of mkinitcpio 0.7.2-1 and used by the file /lib/initcpio/init, the hook 'net' which is also included in mkinitcpio 0.7.2-1 and by the hook 'encrypt' which is part of cryptsetup 1.3.1-2.
    Just run:
    grep -Rw err /lib/initcpio
    And I didn't get the 'command not found' error. Nevertheless I have replaced the 'err' calls by 'error' calls in the fbsplash hook.
    Btw., is there a documentation about the mkinitcpio API?
