["solved"] [fluxbox] xcompmgr applies shadow effect to wbar

I'm using fluxbox, xcompmgr and wbar.
When I run wbar and xcompmanager together the shadow is also applied in wbar which is undesireable.
I've tried various combinations to initialize xcompmgr and wbar and nothing works including changind load order.
Is there a way to fix this?
This is what I have in .flubox/startup
fbsetbg -l
xfce-mcs-manager
wbar -pos top -nofont -bpress &
xcompmgr -cC &
exec /usr/bin/fluxbox

Here's how I fixed it.
I launch wbar with and xcompmgr with the following options
wbar -pos top -above-desk -bpress &
xcompmgr -cC &
After the restart, I need to right click a few times on wbar (the right click is used to refresh wbar) and the shadow problem disappears. It's not perfect but it works for now

Hi at all... I have reinstall my arch two days ago with fluxbox. I installed also xcompmgr and put into my .xinitrc this:

but when I do startx, at first seem to be all normal but without the composite manager, then when it start the shadows appear around the windows as should be, but the toolbar is not completely drawn and only when I move a window over it then the toolbar refresh and all is almost perfetc except for conky that has his shadow when I don't want it.
Someone can help me?
PS. Sorry for my bad english
EDIT: I have tryed something: I removed the line of xcompmgr in the .xinitrc and start it from a shell after the startx and all work perfectly, even the shadow around conky... only that I don't want start xcompmgr by hand every time...

try sleeping before launching command at fluxbox's startup :
sleep 5 && xcompmgr -c -r10 -F -f -D5 -C -o0.8 &
sleep 2 && conky &

The latest version of Muse is not allowing the drop shadow effect to apply to your text. It will apply to shapes but not the text. Anyone know what has happened or how to fix it.

Please use a System font for the text and not a webfont or websafe font. Also make sure that that the textframe fill is transparent.

It should be noted that I also have another effect (an extrude & bevel) applied which does copy over when I paste (or create an SVG and import) into Edge Animate. Which version of Illustrator are you using?
In earlier versions of Illustrator it is not that easy to apply drop shadows with spot colours.

Drop shadow effect--I can't get it to stop!

So I have successfully used the drop shadow effect in PSE 6.
But I can't figure out how to disengage this effect. I started using the clone stamp tool after I was done with drop shadow, and now all of my clone stamps have drop shadows!
I don't want no more drop shadow. How do I get it to stop? I've looked and looked and don't see anything obvious. Thanks.

Inner shadow effect and layers in PSE 9

Hi,
I was wondering if someone could assist me.
In PSE 9, I opened a photo>selected it>created a new layer and applied an inner shadow without a problem. However, when I selected the TEXT tool and wrote some text in a new layer on top of the photo and dropped a shadow and/or bevel on the text, the text appears blurry and the shadow effect doesn't look right. I tried the same effects on the text wihtout adding an inner shadow to the photo underneath and the text looked great. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong?

Try right clicking on the T symbol in the tool box and choose Horizontal Type Mask Tool.
Then type your text and see if adding your layer style looks any better.

Shadow effect printing issue

I'm having an issue with the shadow effect that must be so simple to resolve because if its not I don't understand why this tool is available. I have created a text box which is placed over another colour area, typed my text, clicked on the shadow button in the toolbar and shadow is applied to my text. It looks fine onscreen, it looks fine when I export to pdf but as soon as I print it doesn't look fine. When printed the text box is filled with a semi translucent version of the colour below it. If I print the text box so that its not sitting on top of a coloured background there is no problem but if there is something behind it then the text box appears.
Hope that makes sense, I'm only a part time indesign user so I'm not as skilled as I'm sure many of you are so please help this me get past this really annoying problem.

followup to my previous post:
If your PSE version does not have a built-in way to specify the drop shadow's intensity, here is a round-about way.
Note: this works only if the layer is not simplified; e.g., text layer or custom shape.
1. Ctrl-click the object layer to select just the object (minus the shadow).
2. Copy/Paste the selection to a new layer.
NOTE: if the object was created from the shapes toolbar (Rectangle, Custom Shape, etc.), Ctrl-C will not work (Edit>Copy is grayed out). In this case you must do Edit>Copy Merged, or Shift-Ctrl-C.
3. Ctrl-click the new layer to select the object.
4. Simplify the original object's layer and delete the selection, leaving just the shadow.
5. To lighten the shadow, make a Levels adjustment and move the black output level slider to the right.
To darken the shadow, duplicate the shadow layer. Multiple duplicates darken more each time.
To change the shadow color, Ctrl-click to select the shadow and fill with your color. To later change the color, add a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer above the shadow layer.

How do I select a photo from the timeline to apply an effect.

I am tryiing to select an individual photo on the timeline to apply an effect like a zoom or pan.

I suspect your answer is for you to right click the video (your slideshow in video .psess format) now on the Premiere Elements 11 Expert workspace Timeline and then select and click on "Break Apart Elements Organizer Slideshow" command. The command will achieve that and you should be able to move forward with your editing plans.
The above applies if these are the details of your workflow which I believe to be the case....
1. In the Elements Organizer 11 Slideshow Editor you put together some photos and used the Slide Show Editor's Cross Dissolve transition in the Slideshow Editor slideshow.
2. You outputted the slideshow from the Elements Organizer 11 Slide Show Editor using the Output option of Edit with Premiere Elements Editor.
3. When you do that you will find in Project Assets, a folder with the projects assets as well as one copy of the slideshow as a video in .psess format. There will also be a copy of the .psess video on the Timeline.
4. When you use that route, the Break Apart Elements Organizer Slideshow command is available to you in order for you to make additional significant edits to the slideshow before a burn to.
If you use any of the Slide Show Editor options to create the wmv version of the slideshow (Burn to Disc or Save As A File Movie wmv), the file on the Timeline will be a whole video in wmv format. That cannot be broken apart with the Break Apart Elements Organizer Slideshow command.
Please review my assumptions and speculations and let us know if the answer that I provided was appropriate under the circumstances.

I´m creating a Keynote slideshow and I would like to apply shadows to all the photos at the same time not one by one.
Is there any way?

You can only do formatting of different objects on
the same slide, not across slides.

How come I need to render EVERY TIME I apply an effect in Premiere Pro CC?

I am using Premiere Pro CC version 7.2.2 (33) on a 2.9 GHz Intel Core i5 iMac with 24GB of memory and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M 512 MB graphics card. The footage I am importing is ProRes 422 1920x1080 square pixel 24 frames progressive footage.
When I place clips onto the timeline, they play without any issue. In fact, they play beautifully! However, whenever I apply an effect, the clips needs to be rendered. Here's the biggest problem though, every effect needs to be rendered and I don't even need to change the settings of the effect. Just placing the effect on the clip causes a red line to appear above my clip.
Help!?

They do play back. They don't become labored or jerky until I begin taxing the GPU with stacked or complex effects. John T Smith was right on about the hardware deficiency and your insight into my FCP past and red render lines completed the answer for me.
It looks like I'm now in the market for a hardware upgrade.

Exporting a PDF for print, the PDF does not show a shadow effect

I have a drop shadow effect on an EPS object and some type that does not appear when I export the file as a PDF for print. The settings I have it set to are: Adobe PDF Preset: "High Quality Print", Interactive Elements: "Include Appearance", and Color Conversion: "No Color Conversion".
If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it!

I don't have a particular reason I am using an EPS over AI other than that's the type of file this object (logo) was saved as. I can get an AI. Is there any particular reason you recommend not using an EPS?

Applying One effect to several clips (not tracks!)

i have one track with about 40 clips in it of different cut up audio. i want to apply one effect to several different clips at once. how do i do that?
i know how to apply the one effect to one clip, but if i try and shift click four different clips, and then go to add an effect to it, the effects are grayed out
and i really don't want to go into each clip, add an effect, adjust it and save it for every clip.
is there an easier way?

There are a few ways to do this. The simple way is to apply the filter to one clip. Open it into the viewer and change the parameters as you like. Select all the other clips and drag the filter name from the viewer onto the other clips. They all have the same setting.
