[SOLVED] Inkscape and python-numpy problem.

When I'm trying to use the perspective tool in Inkscape I'm getting this message.
Inkscape has received additional data from the script executed.  The script did not return an error, but this may indicate the results will not be as expected.
Failed to import the numpy or numpy.linalg modules. These modules are required by this extension. Please install them and try again. On a Debian-like system this can be done with the command, sudo apt-get install python-numpy.
I got python-numpy installed, and was asking around in #inkscape, they think it has to do with a wrong path problem with prefix or exec-prefix(?).
I tried to run Inkscape inside /usr/lib/python3.2/site-packages/numpy, but I'm getting the same message. Also tried to run as root... nothing helped.
Any idea's?

It turned out to be a python2/python3 version problem. I just had to install python2-numpy to fix this.

    I'm having the same output whenever I try to view an artists's albums in the collection and the album title contains non strictly ascii characters (which happens pretty often, as I am not a native english speaker). The problem is that the albums do not appear in the collection ! I can still access them by the filesystem view, but then the songs are sorted alphabetically, not by track number.
    This problem appeared with Sonata 1.5.

  • Critical Irish Update needed to solve black and white tv problem on G20!

    I recently had trouble with setting up tv on my Qosmio G20, I was pointed in the direction of a black and white problem that affects earlier models. The solution to the problem was to use the g20's drivers and run 2 reg files.
    Having done that to no success i tried every irish combination possible, with still black and white, I then tried UK and got colour.
    I mucked about with the registration files and found that in the file, there was no irish setting, So when a user puts ireland in as their location they will always get black and white.
    Ireland uses the exact same settings for tv as the UK does, However if a person choses UK they will not get irish guides or irish channels to pick from (ireland isnt part of the uk)
    i found the settings for the UK -
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\ttv200x\Parameters\44]
    @="United Kingdom"
    "FreqBoundary"=dword:000493e0
    "LB_VideoStandard"=dword:20000080
    "LB_AudioStandard"=dword:00020000
    "LB_ShiftFreq"=dword:00000abe
    "HB_VideoStandard"=dword:20000080
    "HB_AudioStandard"=dword:00020000
    "HB_ShiftFreq"=dword:00000abe
    Figuring the 44, was the dial code for UK (that took a while to figure) i added a registry entry with exactly the same settings, but with ireland and 353 at the top.
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\ttv200x\Parameters\353]
    @="Ireland"
    "FreqBoundary"=dword:000493e0
    "LB_VideoStandard"=dword:20000080
    "LB_AudioStandard"=dword:00020000
    "LB_ShiftFreq"=dword:00000abe
    "HB_VideoStandard"=dword:20000080
    "HB_AudioStandard"=dword:00020000
    "HB_ShiftFreq"=dword:00000abe
    I now have colour tv under the irish settings in media centre, i also have sound now, where before i didnt. Hopefully the above code will be added to the registry file named ttv2_regdata_20050111.reg that comes as part of the http://support.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB5800V20000R01.htm driver fix for the problem..
    thanks to jimi in the following post http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?forumID=42&threadID=11145 for pointing me in the right direction.
    Hope it helps someone..
    laters taters...

    I can confirm the problem isnt to do with win dvd creator 2 for toshiba. My registry setting was at 0.
    Its bascially a known problem that was fixed, however it wasnt fixed for irish people.
    When windows wants to play tv it looks in the registry to find out what settings to use. There are no irish ones. Our signal is technically the same as the UK, so using UK settings fixes the problem, However the UK guide doesnt work for irish channels. For the tv to work in colour windows needs the 353 settings.
    I think the guy on this thread was having the exact same problem that is fixed with the registry entry.
    http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=2488&tstart=75
    This problem will only affect a small amount of users, The fix that comes with the toshiba drivers needs the irish settings added, Then the problem will be solved by updating the drivers.
    until then any irish people can fix their black and white tv signal by adding the above registry entrys.
    for trouble shooting purposes here is a list of countries where the bug is fixed... If someone complains of black and white tv on the qosmio series, this list can be checked, and if the persons country is absent, it could be the problem. To fix the problem you need to find out their country call code (+353 is ireland, +44 is UK) You also need to know the settings to add, i did this by looking at the UK settings in the file ttv2_regdata_20050111.reg that comes in the "reg" folder that comes for the qosmio tv driver.
    here is the list of countries that an update of driver will work for...

  • [Solved][Hal and Partitions] Newbie problem with hal policy

    Hello everybody,
    As a new user of archlinux for less than a week I have experienced a great distribution after having been for 1 year on Linux.
    After installation I was able to solve most of my problems with the wiki and the forums but there is one problem I cannot resolve.
    I have installed Kde 4.2 on my computer and I can mount Usb drives, or CDs with hal (It is in the daemons section of my rc.conf) but strangely I cannot access my other partitions such as my Ubuntu partition (ext3), or the family's Windows partition (Nfts). I have installed nfts-3g for the nfts partition hal refuses to let me access it, I will give you what Dolphin says when I try to access the Nfts:
    org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.PermissionDeniedByPolicy: hal-storage-mount-fixed-extra-options no <-- (actions,result)
    And for the ext3
    org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.PermissionDeniedByPolicy: hal-storage-mount-fixedauth_admin_keep_always <-- (actions,result)
    I don't really understand what It means but normally I am allowed to mount partitions.
    My /etc/PolycyKit/PolicyKit.conf: http://pastebin.com/m57e94025
    And my /etc/dbus-1/system.d/hal.conf: http://pastebin.com/m62861179
    I've already tried to configure these two with the wiki and the forums but nothing yet.
    If you need more information ask me.
    Thanks in advance.

    You might want to reread the Hal wiki re: Permission Denied with automounter.  Your /etc/PolicyKit/PolicyKit.conf seems to be missing the lines mentioned in the wiki.

  • [solved] gsmartcontrol and lshw have problems with my HDs

    When I use gsmartcontrol in archlinux, my hard drives are listed as unknown models. They are not listed in lshw. I can use both hard drives without a problem. lsblk, df,... show them correctly.
    My hard drives are listed correctly in gsmartcontrol and lshw when I run gsmartcontrol and lshw from the Parted Magic Livecd.
    Does this mean that I have a problem? Can I gnore it?

  • [SOLVED] Xorg and/or Openbox Problem

    Today I have updated my Desktop, Laptop and Media Centre (specs are in my signature) to find out that all three PCs now have a makor problem. The issue is that only a small portion of my Openbox desktop is active, by which I mean the openbox menu can only be activated with a right click in the bottom 1/8 of my screen. This also has the effect that any program that is maximised only fills this active section, and my conky setup which would usually be in the section that is now inactive does not show up.
    I would post a screenshot, however I am not sure how post it.
    Can anyone adivse me how to fix this??
    thanks.

    Generally it is less pain to stick to pacman only.  Using anything else would mean pacman cannot know what packages certain files belong to, similar to what you ran into here.
    Got it. Seems I have to reinstall my python packages from scratches again.
    Thanks to all the help.

  • Python-scipy vs. python-numpy [solved]

    Up till now I have been using a custom package for python-numpy (the successor of python-numeric) and the AUR package for python-scipy (which depends on a working numpy installation). However, now the scipy package seems to be adopted and when I try to -Syu, pacman claims that python-scipy conflicts with python-numpy and suggests that numpy should be removed.
    I won't do that, since numpy is vital to many of my applications, and I wonder if this was really intended.
    Can anybody explain this to me?
    Niklas.

    Problem solved, works now.
    I removed python-numpy, then re-installed python-scipy (which then automatically proposed python-numpy from community). Might have been some strange thing in my old PKGBUILD for python-numpy.
    Anyway, thanks for finally putting both numpy and scipy into community!!!

  • Audigy SE and AL ADA885 problem needs to be solved once and for

    I just purchased the Audigy SE (I'm on a budget) and installed it. I have the Altec Lansing ADA885 THX 4. digital surround speakers. This sound card DOES NOT work correctly with them. I have been all over the net trying everything that I have seen suggested to make it work. The specs say it should work. It does not. I have tried every possible wiring configuration to no avail. One thing that I find rather annoying is that I have seen several people say that changing the SPDIF to passthrough fixes the problem, yet I cannot find anywhere to change that setting, as I cannot find Audio HQ on the driver CD or on the net to install and change that setting. Can someone, for the love of god, please come up with a valid solution to this problem? I have seen so many people with this same problem who get the run around and answers that just don't help at all. What is needed is "Here, do a, then do b, download c, and BAM! problem solved". Not "Here, do f, do h, download c, j, k, m, and p, then go back and do f again, then a, then b, then come back here and let us know that none of it fixed the problem". I don't wish to be a whiner or a jerk about this, but it is a bit frustrating to be "upgrading" to a card that won't even work right. On behalf of all those with the same problem, thanks in advance to anyone who has a valid solution to this very big, very real problem.

    OK...
    . Do you have the complete application suie of the Audigy SE installed?
    2. If so, in Control Panel do you have the Audio Console or Audio Control Panel?
    3. If you do, change the settings for Decoder Settings to SPDIF passthrough. (THis is however only of AC-3 content, it doesn't affect other formats) (I am not sure the Audigy SE does have a decoder, if not, you need to change the setting in the AC-3 decoder you use)
    4. Then go to Device settings and change the Digital Output sampling rate to 48kHz.
    Now if you cannot find Audio Console, then you should download the latest drivers. They specifically state they allow you to change the "SPDIF output Sampling rate", so you should be able to access the option. I believe your problem lies to the fact your SPDIF is configured for 96kHz output and most probably these very old speakers do not support more than 48kHz.
    PS: The instruction I posted above, are based on an Audigy 2 ZS setup, so the naming of the settings and access programs could be different on the SE, but nevertheless present.

  • [SOLVED] Arch64, Opera and plugins library problem

    I have Arch64 with Opera 64-bit as default browser. I have succesfully installed 32-bit flashplugin and it works nicely. The only problem is that fonts cannot be read from the flash player context menu and Open File dialog opened from flash player. The problem is that flashplugin tries to load 64-bit GTK from /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/ and it fails. 32-bit version is installed and it's located in /opt/lib32/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/.
    Gtk-WARNING **: /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/engines/libmurrine.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
    Gtk-WARNING **: /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/engines/libpixmap.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
    Also I have library loading problem with totem-plugin. It cannot find libxul.so and libxpcom.so, but both library files are located in /usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9.0.1/. The plugin loads fine if I create links to both files in /usr/lib/. But that doesn't seem like right solution to me.
    $ ldd libtotem-mully-plugin.so
    libglib-2.0.so.0 => /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0 (0x00007f94e19d9000)
    libtotem-plparser-mini.so.10 => /usr/lib/libtotem-plparser-mini.so.10 (0x00007f94e17d6000)
    libxul.so => not found
    libxpcom.so => not found
    libplds4.so => /usr/lib/libplds4.so (0x00007f94e15d2000)
    What would be a most elegant way of solving these two library loading problems?
    I think that symbolic links and moving files are not the most elegant way to solve the problem. Maybe some environment variable or some configuration setting would solve the problem (LDPATH comes to mind, but it seems that it doesn't work).
    EDIT: I wasn't sure in which section to post this question, so feel free to move it if necessary.
    Last edited by SnapShot (2008-09-12 02:50:01)

    I have solved my problem and I will post my solution because it can be usefull to others.
    First the problem with flashplugin and GTK library path. Opera uses operapluginwrapper scirpt to detect if the plugin is 32-bit or 64-bit and after detection it uses operapluiginwrapper-ia32-linux for 32-bit or operapluginwrapper-native for 64-bit plugins. operapluiginwrapper-ia32-linux loads the 32-bit flashplugin in my case which requires GTK, but it incorectly tries to load it form /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/ where 64-bit version of GTK resides.
    The solution is to set the GTK_PATH environment variable to point to /opt/lib32/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/ where 32-bit version resides. But if you set it globaly it will result in problems with other 64-bit applications. So the correct solution is to add following lines on the bottom of the operapluginwrapper script above the exec line:
    case "$wrapper" in
    *ia32*)
    export GTK_PATH="/opt/lib32/usr/lib/gtk-2.0"
    export PANGO_RC_FILE="/opt/lib32/config/pango/pangorc"
    esac
    In this way the 32-bit paths will be active only for operapluginwrapper-ia32-linux process.
    I have solved the other problem with totem-plugin requesting libxul.so and libxpcom.so, but the solution idoesn't matter because, although totem-plugin loads coreclty it doesn't work in opera. I have installed mplayer-plugin which works as it should. Also gecko-mediaplayer works correctly with opera, I have tested them both. Install one of the two plugins that work, and you will be fine.

  • Python-numpy broken

    Ok, my first pacman upgrade error ever I haven't been able to solve by a search in this forum, I'm afraid it might not be so straight forward.
    Last night doing a pacman -Syu gave me an error that said gcc-fortran was missing, found this http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=45642 thread and made a change in the PKGBUILD dependecy list from "gcc-fortran" to "gcc-libs". After that pacman -Su worked.
    However, today trying to work on a school project requiring python-numpy I got this error while trying to run my code:
    File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/numpy/linalg/linalg.py", line 25, in <module>
    from numpy.linalg import lapack_lite
    ImportError: libgfortran.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    A quick look in /usr/lib/ showed no libgfortran.so.2 file but a libgfortran.so.3 file. Hoping for a quick fix so I could continue my work I made a symlink libgfortran.so.2 -> libgfortran.so.3. But it gave me this error:
    File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/numpy/linalg/linalg.py", line 25, in <module>
    from numpy.linalg import lapack_lite
    ImportError: /usr/lib/libblas.so.3: undefined symbol: scabs1_
    I would guess that the python-numpy package isn't updated to use the new fortran libs? If anyone have any idea how to fix this I would be greatful.

    Ok, I finally had time to fix this, and learned a bit about Arch/ABS too
    For inexperienced users with the same problem as me this is what i did:
    1. Installed ABS and ran 'abs' as root (more info here http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ABS … ild_System )
    2. Copied the files in /var/abs/extra/science/blas/ to a folder in my ~
    3. nano Makefile -> add 'scabs1.o' to the end of the OBJS list, save & quit. (info from here: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/9905?pro … &pagenum=2 )
    4. md5sum Makefile -> replace old md5 in PKGBUILD, save & quit.
    5. as user, 'makepkg'
    6. as root, pacman -U blas-19980702-4-i686.pkg.tar.gz
    Now it seems to work, thanks for the help!

    I'm going to guess videos buffer for a while also...
    Two possibilities, one is you should close apps on the iPad, the other is your internet speed is not able to handle the demands of a high speed device.
    To close apps:   Double click home button, swipe up to close the apps.
    To solve internet problem, contact your provider.   Basic internet is not enough for video games and movies.   Your router may be old and slow.

    The Rapoo M765 mouse can not work properly under normal mouse configuration.
    The mouse goes beyond controll when config as below:

    # Option "Buttons" "7"
    # Option "ButtonMapping" "1 2 3 6 7"

    When there is no any configuration, the mouse can work abnormally. Movement and right/left click work fine, but I can not use scroll wheel,and the "go forward"&"go backward" mouse key can not work too.
    (I know Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" is the configuration of scroll wheel emulation.)
    The real problem is 'mouse beyond controll',the cursor goes crazyly on screen ....
    I guess it is something wrong of ButtonMapping option. But when I tried to get button number from command xev,when scroll wheel scrolles, I get something below(the scroll wheel movement is identified as a key event~):

    Thanks for reply !
    change Driver 'mouse' to Driver 'evdev',solved cursor goes beyond controll problem.
    but I still can not use scroll button and 'go forward'&'go backward' button.
    (BTW:evdev_drv.so is from local/xf86-input-evdev-trackpoint, and local/xf86-input-evdev-trackpoint package is from AUR)
    I think, maybe something wrong with my button number mapping, but I still can not get scroll button number with 'xev' command....
    below is my configuration:

    olive wrote:In the config file you mentioned, all is commented; do you mean that you have problems when you have uncommented it? You should not use the mouse driver (old deprecated driver) but evdev. Try to remove xf86-input-mouse and xf86-input-keyboard (same as before, this is deprecated and handled by evdev) and remove also a "joystick" driver if you have it (I have had problem with it conflicting with the evdev driver).

  • Macbook Pro and Thunderbolt USB problem

    I have read a few threads regarding problems with the Thunderbolt displays and Macbook Airs. None of the suggestions in there work for me including doing an SMC Reset.
    Here is my problem. I have a brand new Macbook Pro 17", 2.5Ghz Core i7,  8gb ram, 750Gb HD etc., new Thunderbolt display. Running OS X Lion 10.7.3.
    In the back of my display I have plugged in a USB mouse from Logitech, an Apple full size keyboard and my wired ethernet connection. The monitor and peripherals stay at work and I take the Macbook Pro home every night. If I do not follow a certain sequence every morning, my computer freezes. I put the power connector in first, open the lid, wait for the screen on the laptop to show the login prompt, login and then and only then can I plug in my Thunderbolt connector. Once I do this, my second screen lights up and my mouse, keyboard and ethernet connection works. But if I plug in the Thunderbolt first before power up or if I plug it in before logging in, then I have a high probabilty that the USB hub on the back of the monitor will stop working altogether. Then I have to move my mouse and keyboard over to the laptop and everything works great (my ethernet keeps working fine though). My mouse scroll for whatever reason goes into high gear and starts scrolling much faster and I have to slow it down.
    Now, this works 90% of the time. But there are days, like today, where this process does not work. And when it doesn't, either I have to move the USB devices over or like today, the machine freezes and no longer responds to any input. It appears to still be working as the screen updates but I can never regain control of it via any keyboard or mouse.
    My co-worker has the exact same setup and exact same problem. We also have 10 Thunderbolt displays here (all new) and same problem with ANY I choose. So this is not a hardware issue. Something is wrong with the driver code for some device. And my co-worker has an Apple mouse so that's not the issue either. If this can help Apple with debugging, here is another interesting tid bit. 3 weeks ago, I had a non Thunderbolt display. And for 6 months with an older laptop, I had issues with it's USB hub. Same kind of problem. Some days, the USB hub in the monitor would work and others it would go dead until a reboot was performed.
    I think a driver needs some fixing somewhere.
    Thanks,
    EJK

    For the past 3 days I have had no issues after trying something different. After reading btully's post, what I decided to do is power off the Thunderbolt display every morning before I plug my laptop in and so far this seems to work. 3 days is not a data point but perhaps if others try too for a bit, we can see if this solves the issue for some of us. I will keep you all posted and see if this continues to work.
    One thing to note as well, is that if I power off the Thunderbolt display while logged in and do not retract the plug first, the system hangs often. I am not sure if I am imagining this as I think once you power off the display it must be just like pulling the cable out no??
    Anyways, one thing is clear, there is a problem somewhere with either Thunderbolt display firmware or Mac OS X drivers.
