[SOLVED] ipw2200 & wireless button (radio off)

hi all
i have read a ton of pages on this issue but i cannot for the life of me figure out what to do. the problem is iwconfig reports "radio off" so i would need to have a module loaded and some configurations made but what exactly? my laptop is fujitsu siemens m7400.
maybe some kind soul could browse through these pages and give me simple instructions
here's what i found so far:
Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo wireless radio module: http://zwobbl.homelinux.net/pub/ (main site: http://rfswitch.sourceforge.net/ )
Acer Hotkey driver for Linux: http://www.cakey.de/acerhk/
Linux on an Amilo M-7400 laptop: http://tuukka.iki.fi/linux/amilo.html
thank you very much in advance!

  • Wireless button on dv7-1245dx turns off by itself

My wireless button turns itself off and the volume bar appears on the screen and the speakers click. Is there any way for me to bypass the wireless button with a function key? Because no matter how many times I try sometimes it wont turn back on.

Well, I have tried everything that you have indicated, including re-starting the eMac from the Tiger installer DVD and going to the Disc Utility and repairing the disc (nothing wrong) and repairing permissions-- lots needed corrections-- anyway, I still get the issue--- when I try to locate the eMac on the home netwrok, it looks like it hooks up for a second or so then I get a yellow triangle with an explanation mark in it saying the network is interrupted--and when I go into the system preferences the Personal File Sharing button is unchecked--- weird !!!
Ok, here are a couple of other interesting items-- when I go to the Go menu item and scroll down to the Network command, it will open a box for more than a split second the first time-- then not at all after that.
Secondly, when I do try to access the eMac, I do not ever get the little Connect to Server box asking for the short name and password to enter (??)-- also weird.
Any other suggestions--- this eMac was recently totally re-built-- new hard drive, new memory and new logic board-- (Seems I had a serious power surge in my office and it fried everything) -- I even had to re-install my printer and scanner software-- !!! Thanks for any suggestions.

  • Portege R500 - Novatel Wireless Radio Off

    Hi,
I Have seen a few posts on here suggesting various downloads and updates to fix issues with 3G connectivity but none of these downloads have worked for me.
Novatel loads up ok .. but always reports No Service - Radio Off .... I cant find any way to get "Radio On" or any info on what the issue might be....
Any help at all would be great !
    Dave L

    Hello
Maybe a stupid question but are you sure that you have an internal 3G module?
As far as I know not all models are equipped with this feature so check this first, please!

  • Problem With DVD Recover - Wireless Button Addon

Searching the web/support forms indicated that there is a know error if you try to RECOVER and the Wireless adapter has been turned off.
All hardware on the machine was working prior to this attempted RECOVER..
    Steps Tried:
    1. Tried to get the wireless adapter enabled without any success. Hitting the F12 key does not cause the light to switch from yellow to blue.
    2. Successfully booted Linux Live CD Operating system and the wireless card came up correctly.
    3. I assumed my Recovery media had problems and order a new set from HP, same problem.....
    4. Uninstalled the wireless card from the laptop and tried a fresh recover.
Does anyone have any ideas of other things to try?????????
Does anyone know what a system recover takes 3+ hours on this piece of junk?????
I am beyond frustrated...... Why does a single drive/service failing to load cause the entire install process to abort??...

The only reference I can find to the error message in the report in the original post is that the wifi card was not enabled and triggered the failure of the recovery.  However, you stated that your wifi was indicated as on during your recovery.  If your report is showing the same message, then taking out the wifi card for the recovery should allow it to continue since that is where it's failing.  Once the recovery is completed, the wifi card can be reinstalled and it should work at that point.
Page 56 of this details how to remove the wifi card should you need it.

  • HP Pavilion g4-1117dx Wireless Button Won't Work

My HP Pavilion g4-1117dx wireless button(F12) won't work. I've tried rebooting, reformatting, changing operating systems(win7 to win8), nothing works. At very rare instances I turn-on the laptop it is already on but only for a short while before it turns off again. The wireless adapter shows-up at the device manager and I've tried updating it but I cannot confirm if the update was successful because the wireless light turns orange by itself. I have also tried to enable and disable the action keys in the BIOS menu. Please help.

    Hey Tung,
If your connect an external keyboard are you able to type? I would first give it a good cleaning to make sure there is nothing interfering with it. A can of compressed air usually works wonders or a air compressor if you have one handy.
If this does not work try a hard reset:
    Disconnect all external devices first
    Remove AC power
    Remove the battery
Press and hold power button for at least 20 seconds
    Reinstall your battery
    Plug in the Power
    Turn on the computer
Let me know if this helps!

    Some things to try first:

    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi

        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Power & Wireless LEDs turn off on WRT54GX2

Over the past week, this has happened 6 times: the power and wireless LEDs turn off, the ethernet(1) and internet LEDs flicker like mad.  While it's like that, all LAN and WAN traffic is disabled.  It is connected to a DSL modem and the LEDs there appear normal.  If I cycle power on the router, it returns to normal.  I have not yet connected this behavior to any special events on my LAN.  Does anyone have a suggestion?

You should Upgrade your router's firmware...
    Download Firmware 3.70 MB...Firmware Ver.1.01.22...
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...
In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
    Now reset your router :
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • My battery died then it still shows radio off even its full charged , pls help!

My battery died then i charged it and still the phone is radio off and the battery  is full, and just shows the home page and i cant go to the menu or do anything ??!!
cant even connect to the pc
    thanks in advance,

Then you've got a bricked dead device.
You can try again to try to wipe and reload the operating system if you want. You will need to use BBSAK or JL_Cmder to wipe the device and subsequently load the OS to the device. Follow the instructions here:
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/How_do_I_wipe_the_BlackBerry_using_Jl_Cmder%3F
And if any of that doesn't work, I'd return to say it's a moisture problem. I've seen it all too often. IF it is moisture and you continue to use the device, you're just damaging it further.

  • Can connect to wireless network run off dell router, but not internet!

I have a iBookG4 and have moved to a new apt with a wireless network run off a dell router/ comcast. My roommates have both Macs and PCs and can connect with no problems. I found the network on my airport and put in the password, joined network no problem, but cannot connect to the internet. The Airport status is yellow and says that Airport has self assigned IP address and cannot connect to the internet. I can connect fine to other open networks in the area so its not my computer. I tried to copy the IP address from my roommate manually to the network settings but that didn't work either. What am I doing wrong? No one here seems to recall how they set up the network and I am paying for a network I can't access. Please help!!!

Does the dell router have an access list set-up?
With an access list (depending on the router) it can be set-up to allow access for only certain MAC addresses. If your MAC address isn't in the list, you'll not get on.
Usually the router will have an IP address itself of 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.0.1 - depends on the router. You should be able to determine it from the IP address your computers are getting. Try getting someone to connect to this through a browser, and check/change the configuration of the router directly.
