[Solved] LXDM LANG=C ignored

Hi,
I used to use "LANG=C pacman" as alias for "pacman", cause I like to have pacman output in englisch (normal locale is de_DE.utf8)
Since I switched to LXDM as LoginManager this does not work anymore.
[root@sunny michi]# LANG=C
[root@sunny michi]# echo $LANG
C
[root@sunny michi]# pacman -h
Verwendung: pacman <Operation> [...]
Operationen:
pacman {-h --help}
pacman {-V --version}
pacman {-D --database} <Optionen> <Paket(e)>
pacman {-Q --query} [Optionen] [Paket(e)]
pacman {-R --remove} [Optionen] <Paket(e)>
pacman {-S --sync} [Optionen] [Paket(e)]
pacman {-T --deptest} [Optionen] [Paket(e)]
pacman {-U --upgrade} [Optionen] <Datei(en)>
Benutzen Sie 'pacman {-h --help}' zusammen mit einer Operation f?r verf?gbare Optionen
with SLiM and just startx it always worked.

    Solutions: Bounce the applications and check the arguments if you can increase it.  It is due to memory issue
    You can set these values in CommEnv.sh (.cmd for windows) file located in the weblogic_home/common/bin directory.
    This gets applied to all the domains under that wls home.
    If you want to make the changes to specific domain then edit the SetDomainEnv.sh file located under the domain/bin directory.

  • [SOLVED] LXDM not saving selected session,Default session doesn't work

    Hello,
    I'm trying to use LXDM to start my desktop. However, every single time I log in, I have to tell it to use XFCE as my session.
    Even if I choose it manually, after logout/login it just resets to "Default session" (which doesn't work: just drops back to LXDM).
    I looked everywhere in my home directory and not found any place where it stores the session.
    Any ideas? lxdm 0.4.1-8, xfce 4.8, x86-64 Arch Linux.
    Thanks.

  • [SOLVED] LXDM and Other Catastrophe's

    Compared to the arch-fu practitioners here I'm a total noob so bear with me . And sorry if this has been solved before, I searched but found nothing.
    My second attempt at installing Arch was going kind-of smoothly until I got to configuring LXDM. No matter what I do it keeps logging into the default X session (twm) rather than my wm's (openbox/scrotwm). I tried fiddling with lxdm.conf and /etc/lxdm/Xsession only to break it completely (login loop). I also tried this to no avail. I even tried symlinking~/.Xsession to /etc/lxdm/Xsession, which made no difference. So I'm assuming I have to modify /etc/lxdm/Xsession in some way?
    All this messing about (4 days and counting) and other niggling configs I've borked (shutdown and reboot break with ata2 errors, acpid to blame?) has got me considering ArchBang (Blasphemy!) and modding from there. But then I saw how many gnome bits it has, I don't want to load the entire gnome library for no good reason and I assume removing all of it would be a pain?
    Last edited by seaneking (2012-02-20 22:45:27)

    "$1" is a special variable, known as Positional parameters, they are basically the commandline parameters.
    For example:
    myscript some option another_option
    <--$0--> <$1> <-$2-> <-----$3----->
    <---------------$*---------------->
    <---------------$#----------------> # Number of Arguments, in this case $# = 3 (doesn't include $0)
    More info on bash/shell scripting can be found on Greg's wiki
    In the mean time...
    So I downloaded LXDM and I'm at a loss. I have no idea where it's finding the various window managers (including non-existent ones, and in some cases not at all). The only file which exists on my system sourced within /etc/lxdm/Xsessions is "/etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc", which, even though it's the same as the skeleton file, doesn't merge my X[defaults|resources]. Yet it seems to use some commands from my ~/.xinitrc such as feh background setting.
    Documentation is... sparse (.dmrc?)
    Edit:
    Giving up, hopefully someone with more experience/knowledge can help. Sorry
    Edit2:
    Right. It seems that the list of WMs/DEs is actually built from .desktop entires under /usr/share/xsessions/. (I know you mentioned this already)
    So if you want to add i3, simply drop an i3.desktop file containing something like:
    [Desktop Entry]
    Name=i3
    Exec=i3
    Checking the source indicates that LXDM seems to only look for the "Name", "Exec" and "Desktop Entry".
    Edit3:
    Okay, reinstalled LXDM and tested this theory. Made a bogus.desktop file under /usr/share/xsessions and used the following contents:
    [Desktop Entry]
    Name=Bogus
    Exec=wmii
    Logged out, started LXDM and sure enough, I had a new entry named "Bogus" which launched wmii. I didn't alter any config files at all. (brand new install)
    PS: Bedtime!

  • [solved] lxdm, slim: startup delay

    I'm trying to switch from lightdm to lxdm in order to work around the awesome keymap bug.
    When I start lxdm using systemctl start lxdm.service I get a black screen and nothing happens for about 70 seconds. Then the lxdm greeter finally shows up, everything works fine and there are no errors or hints in the logs.
    Any idea what could cause the delay? I tried lxdm-git from AUR, but no difference.
    Thanks in advance,

    Okay, solved my own problem (another episode of strace-to-the-rescue)
    The login managers in question seem to open a connection to '::1' (the IPv6 loopback) on startup. My ip6tables lacked a rule for accepting all loopback traffic, and as my default target for INPUT is DROP, the connection attempt was dropped and startup therefore delayed until the timeout for connection establishment is reached.
    Damn this was weird...

    The reason of this run time error is : Java is not able to locate main method of specified class File. or class file itself is not locatable.
    Check :
    1. Either u are not in same folder where ur class file is.
    2. or If u are running from some other directory, ur class file path is not in CLASSPATH.
    3.or There will be some mistake in definition of main method.

  • [SOLVED] lxdm autologin won't work since last upgrade

    Hi,
    Since last upgrade, lxdm won't autologin anymore.
    I had a lxdm.conf.pacnew file wich added only a commented line that I added into the conf file, wich does look like this :
    [base]
    ## uncomment and set autologin username to enable autologin
    #autologin=dgod
    autologin=Olaff
    ## uncomment and set timeout to enable timeout autologin,
    ## the value should >=5
    # timeout=10
    ## default session or desktop used when no systemwide config
    session=/usr/bin/startlxde
    #session=/usr/bin/openbox-session
    ## uncomment and set to set numlock on your keyboard
    # numlock=0
    ## set this if you don't want to put xauth file at ~/.Xauthority
    # xauth_path=/tmp
    # not ask password for users who have empty password
    # skip_password=1

    # uncomment this if you really want xserver listen to tcp
    # tcp_listen=1
    # uncoment this if you want reset the xserver after logou

    [userlist]
    ## if disable the user list control at greeter
    disable=0
    ## whitelist user
    white=
    ## blacklist user
    black=
    Since there were no uncommented lines added, I assumed it would make no difference.
    Edit :
    Now, the system goes to the login screen instead of autologin.
    lxdm brings me to my session if I log in however.

    Not sure why OlaffTheGreat uses LXDM, but I use it because you get it for free as part of the LXDE group, and I'm too lazy to change it.  My security is the 30 to 40 character passphrase I need to unlock my encrypted drives.  Then having to type in an 8 character easily guessed user password is beyond annoying.
    I just checked my pacman cache files and it looks like the upgrade to 0.4-1-25 is when I first got the error (currently listed as 9 days ago which would be about right).  I upgraded, booted and got the login screen that I was not supposed to.  I had just merged the pacnew file so it was fresh in my head and made the changes I described.  Booted again and got the autologin and I didn't think another thing about it until I saw this post earlier today.  Upgraded again this weekend to 0.4-1-27 with no problems.

  • [SOLVED] LXDM Autologin Issue

    I am attempting to configure autologin for LXDE using LXDM by editing /etc/lxdm/lxdm.conf (autologin=username).  When I do so, I am logged into a session that looks unfamiliar.  It almost looks like a base openbox session or something with no wallpaper, no autostart scripts, etc.  If I manually choose LXDE from the session dropdown menu in LXDM, the proper session loads.  When choosing Default from the session dropdown menu in LXDM, I am logged into this unfamiliar session.  Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?  Here is my /etc/lxdm/lxdm.conf file:

    It turns out Terminator was right.  I'm not sure where I was looking before but I do have a ~/.dmrc file and it was set to Session=openbox instead of Session=lxde.  I changed the setting and everything is working great now.  Thanks!

    My frien google tells me that you use
    >
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
    This can have two reasons:
    * Your Java application has a memory leak. There are tools like YourKit Java Profiler that help you to identify such leaks.
    * Your Java application really needs a lot of memory (more than 128 MB by default!). In this case the Java heap size can be increased using the following runtime parameters:
    java -Xms<initial heap size> -Xmx<maximum heap size>

  • [SOLVED] Pacman, Can't ignore group KDE

    Solution, ignoring groups/packages need to be space separated, not by comma.
    Hello,
    I'm trying to upgrade, skipping some groups (packages), but it doesn't seem to work.
    In pacman.conf I have:
    # Pacman won't upgrade packages listed in IgnorePkg and members of IgnoreGroup
    #IgnorePkg =
    IgnoreGroup =kde,kdebase,kdeutils,libreoffice,qt,kdeplasma
    NoUpgrade =kde,libreoffice,qt,kdeplasma

    And, NoUpgrade is used to prevent files from being overwritten, not preventing package upgrades.

  • [SOLVED] LXDM Shutdown/Reboot Issues

    Under "vanilla" conditions (unmodified /etc/lxdm/lxdm.conf), I have no trouble logging in and out and powering off/rebooting using LXDM.
    My problem seems to arise when I set my main user account to autologin.  The autologin works as expected, and I log back out to LXDM just fine.  After logging out, there is a "username" text field replacing the large user boxes, which is a little out-of-place but isn't my main concern.
    If I try to shutdown or reboot, nothing will happen, and I give it a second just to make sure it isn't taking place in a tty or something odd like that (checked my running tty's just to be sure).  Afterward, I log back in to my main account, and upon logging out once more, the system proceeds to power off.
    The only time I've been able to reproduce it was with the autologin enabled.  Possibly worth noting is my /etc/lxdm/PostLogout, which contains this snippet from the LXDM ArchWiki Page:
    #!/bin/sh
    # Kills all your processes when you log out.
    killall --user $USER -TERM
    May not be very much related, but it is the only other change I have made to LXDM.  However, it had no adverse effects on the shutdown/reboot post-logout functionality with the autologin disabled.
    I would be very grateful if someone could point me in the right direction for fixing this bizarre behavior.

    I ended up adding /sbin/reboot to /etc/lxdm/PreReboot, and /sbin/poweroff to /etc/lxdm/PreShutdown.
    It's more of a workaround than a solution, but it seems like the easiest and most effective solution so far.  No problems with it yet.

  • [SOLVED] Grub seems to ignore kernel parameters

    Hi,
    I have the impression that grub ignores all kernel parameters that I added after installing arch.
    The relevant lines in /etc/default/grub look like:
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="cryptdevice=/dev/sda2:LvmOnLuks root=/dev/mapper/LvmOnLuks-root resume=/dev/LvmOnLuks/swap"
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="acpi_osi= add_efi_memmap i915.i915_enable_rc6=1 pcie_aspm=force drm.vblankoffdelay=1 i915.semaphores=1"
    After generation the kernel line /boot/grub/grub.cfg looks like:
    linux /boot/vmlinuz-linux root=UUID=1c05593f-4bfc-4b1f-a0ab-c9ef8f6e97fa rw acpi_osi= add_efi_memmap i915.i915_enable_rc6=1 pcie_aspm=force drm.vblankoffdelay=1 i915.semaphores=1 cryptdevice=/dev/sda2:LvmOnLuks root=/dev/mapper/LvmOnLuks-root resume=/dev/LvmOnLuks/swap
    Until this point everything is ok.
    But /proc/cmdline give me:
    BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-linux root=UUID=1c05593f-4bfc-4b1f-a0ab-c9ef8f6e97fa rw quiet cryptdevice=/dev/sda2:LvmOnLuks root=/dev/mapper/LvmOnLuks-root
    I get the same output from the kernel line in the grubmenu at boottime. But these are the parameters I set at arch installation, not the current ones.
    Softwareversions:
    linux 3.15.7-1
    grub 1:2.02.beta2-4
    efibootmgr 0.7.0-1
    efivar 0.10-1
    I have no idea what the problem could be and I hope I can get help here.

    According to https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AS … _backlight no value is needed for this parameter. The other parameters are also taken from this wiki page https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AS … Parameters.
    Edit:
    I just tried it without the acpi_osi= parameter, but nothing changed.

    hi miau!
    i changed my xorg.conf to match your suggestions... Option "DPMS" "true" moved in Monitor section and blanking and dpms settings in ServerLayout:
    Section "ServerLayout"
    Identifier "Layout0"
    Screen 0 "Screen0"
    InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard"
    InputDevice "Synaptics Touchpad" "SendCoreEvents"
    InputDevice "USB Mouse" "CorePointer"
    Option "BlankTime" "0"
    Option "StandbyTime" "10"
    Option "SuspendTime" "15"
    Option "OffTime" "20"
    EndSection
    i guess you suggested me to do this way, isn't it?
    unfortunately it still doesn't work!
    it seems that after login gnome-power-manager resets all the settings about dpms in xorg.conf... every section i put them in...
    this is part of the output of xset q just after login:
    Screen Saver:
    prefer blanking: yes allow exposures: yes
    timeout: 0 cycle: 600
    Colors:
    default colormap: 0x20 BlackPixel: 0 WhitePixel: 16777215
    Font Path:
    /usr/share/fonts/misc,/usr/share/fonts/100dpi:unscaled,/usr/share/fonts/75dpi:unscaled,/usr/share/fonts/TTF,/usr/share/fonts/Type1,built-ins
    DPMS (Energy Star):
    Standby: 0 Suspend: 0 Off: 0
    DPMS is Enabled
    Monitor is On
    any other idea?
    thanx

  • BOM SELECTION DURING CREATION OF JOB WORK PO

    Dear All,
    In my scenario we are not running MRP so my problem is if i maintain two BOM for a halb material say ALT 1(for inhse prdn.) AND ALT 2(job work) .Now if i make a job work PO for this item the system by default picks the ALT1 always and i want to pick the ALT 2.There is no LOT size funda the item can anytime be produced inhse OR subcontracting.
    R sehgal

    Hi sehgal ,
    i am giving one solution, but it works fine if you run MRP, same you can try with your case.
    The right Bom can be selected by creating production version.
    1. create two production versions for your HALB material, then assign your inhouse BOM for first production version, and assign Job work Bom to second production version. (MM01)
    2. select Bom explosion indicator = 2  (selection by prodution version) in MRP view  (MM01)
    3.Then lock the first production version manually if you want do outside job work.
    then create PO and check that correct BOM is selected as per your requirement.(MM01 - MRP view)
    4 if you want  to do inhouse prodution then unlock the first version, system will select first active version by default.

  • Variable message length without field separator to file receiver adapter

    Hi,
    I have a XML document as below
    <MT_O_FF>
    <ROW>
         <HEADER>        </HEADER>
         <QMGR>                       </QMGR>
        <MESSAGE> TEST MESSAGE </MESSAGE>
    </ROW>
    </MT_O_FF>
    I know the field lengths of <HEADER> and QMGR but MESSAGE has variable length data. We don't want field separator between HEADER, QMGR and MESSAGE. The file should be created as below (text file)
                                          TEST MESSAGE
    The above blanks in front of TEST MESSAGE data needs to be there in the file. The problem I am facing is as <MESSAGE> is variable length and the file should not have field separator, is there any way we can create text file using file adapter?
    If I use xml.fieldFixedLengths as below, as long as data in MESSAGE is less then 40000 then the file is created with data. If the length is more then 40000 then the file is getting created but the data in MESSAGE is getting truncated. The maximum length adapter allows me to use 40000.
    xml.fieldFixedLengths=10,20,40000
    xml.fieldNames=HEADER,QMGR,MESSAGE
    xml.fieldTooShortHandling=ignore
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    HI,
    the parameter fieldTooShortHandling = ignore should solve your purpose.
    Ignore means that the system applies the value completely, regardless of it being too long. Subsequent columns are moved correspondingly.
    Thanks
    Swarup
