I'll have to go to bed now due to an early shift at work tomorrow, so I can't do what you listed until then, but until then, here is the output of the commands you wanted me to run:

  • [SOLVED] Certain Flash sites not working in Firefox 4...

    EDIT: Solved in post #15
Using Firefox 4 stable from extra repo, something is up with my Flash where certain sites aren't seeing it, while others are. When it works, it plays fine. Here's some screenshots to illustrate what I mean:
When I start a new session of a Firefox all Youtube videos are in the small window (even when I'm logged in) and the first video I watch, to get it to the bigger window I click the enlarge button as seen: http://i.imgur.com/vmmSF.png
It plays fine in this little window, but when I click that button and it enlarges, it looks like this http://i.imgur.com/4xzoy.png
Sometimes it will play and I can hear the audio while I only have that grey rectangle. Now, I can hit refresh and it will play back fine now on in this larger size, but this does not occur on my laptop with Arch and same packages.
Then Vimeo, nearly all videos are like this http://i.imgur.com/zYkIT.png
And on Break I don't even see anything: http://i.imgur.com/SIkT2.png
Many sites tell me to upgrade my flash. Here is package info I am using just in case:

  • [SOLVED]No sound under linux, works fine under Windows

Hello everyone. This is a completely new issue, and I've not had to deal with figuring out audio on linux before, so I was hoping that someone can help me try to resolve this issue, and I can learn more about my system in the process.
Up until a few days ago, my audio was working perfectly fine on Arch. Nothing changed, that I can remember, that might be the cause of the audio suddenly stopping.
alsamixer shows that all volume is turned up, I've turned up the volume on my speakers, and pulseaudio pavucontrol shows that sound is being played, and it shows that the correct sound card is selected. Still, no sound. It doesn't work with headphones either.
If, in pavucontrol, I change the playback device to my HDMI out, sound comes out properly thought that.
When I dualboot into Windows, all sound works fine, headphones and speakers.
What might I need to look in to here? What information would help you to help me figure out what's going on?
Thank you in advance for your help and your patience.
[SOLVE] was deleting the pulseaudio configuration and letting them be remade.

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond.
No, no sound at all will play, no matter what the application or media type.
The only thing I'd recently done was install xfce4 so that I could try to set my Keyboard's volume wheel (Logitech G510) so that it would work. It didn't work however, and I've since removed xfce4. I honestly dont' know if the sound stopped working before or after I tried this though.
dmesg doesn't show anything in particular to my untrained eye, but after rebooting, trying to play a youtube video to test the sound, and checking journalctl, I do see this:
Nov 19 00:43:42 arch pulseaudio[766]: Unable to load mixer: Invalid argument
Nov 19 00:43:47 arch pulseaudio[766]: GetManagedObjects() failed: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.bluez was not provided by any .service files
Also, starting audio from the terminal doesn't show anything useful.

  • [SOLVED] SWF files are not working in Firefox 5.0.1. When visiting websites with 'zoom' on photos Forefox asks how to handle rather than just going to zoom

On previous versions of Firefox I was able to use the 'zoom' feature on photos at retail websites. This no longer works. (You can go to Territory Ahead as an example). Firefox asks what to do with the SWF file. There is no option to use Shockwave (I think this is a Shockwave file). Thanks for your help. Warren

Ooops. Never mind. I recently upgraded other programs and I no longer had the Shockwave player installed in my system. Reinstalled it and all if well.

What does the Adobe test page say?
    http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the ''Safe mode'' start window.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (on Mac: "Firefox > Quit")

  • [SOLVED] Sound (snd_hda_intel) not working after resume from suspend

Using the latest kernel 2.6.30.4, On HP2133, whenever I get back from resume, sound is not working.
Running the following brings back the sound, but that is obviously a hack:
    fuser -k /dev/snd/*
    rmmod snd_hda_intel
    modprobe snd_hda_intel
    /etc/rc.d/alsa start
    I have on my /etc/modprobe/50-sound.conf:
    options snd-hda-intel model=laptop
    alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
    alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel
    Here's the exact hardware specification:
    # lspci -nnv|grep Audio
80:01.0 Audio device [0403]: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT1708/A [Azalia HDAC] (VIA High Definition Audio Controller) [1106:3288] (rev 10)
Any idea where to look for this?

    [SOLVED]
I downgraded to kernel 2.6.29 and the problem is gone.
Note: I also had X VT problems with 2.6.30.4 (xf86OpenConsole: VT_WAITACTIVE failed: Interrupted system call). Those were solved too by downgrading to 2.6.29.

  • Geolocation stopped working in Firefox 24 after update (Win7 64). Downgraded to FF 23.0.1 solved the problem. Same with other FF installation at another PC.

Visiting this page: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/examples/map-geolocation or any other website using geolocation to track my location, shows a blank map and no prompt "Share location: Allow, Block, Not now".
This happened since upgrading to FF 24 (Desktop Win7 64). Downgrading to FF 23.0.1, solves the problem: FF prior to 24 supports geolocation with no problem. Tried in both my desktop and laptop with separate FF installations, using different plugins.
    Thank you in advance.
[ NOTE: Now using Firefox 23.0.1, the problem only occurs after upgrading to Firefox 24 ]

Still doesnt work in Firefox 24 or 25. Works like a charm in 23.0.1

Hello everyone my iPhone 5s sounds stop working.i did not do anything it just stop working when I tried to turn on my music player all the sounds is not working I already check the volume and it is not also muted :( what happened can anyone solve my problem please

    Hey Kirby17,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If you are not getting any sound from the speaker, follow this article.
iPhone: No sound or distorted sound from speaker
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5180
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
    Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
If the issue is not resolved, please contact Apple Support.
    Have a nice day,
    Mario

In My IPhone the sound device not working properly. I can here the sound through head set only.kindly send an idea ti solve this problems

Hello. I sent my WRT1900AC V1 to Linksys four days ago (Monday) via UPS with a RMA. Linksys paid the shipping and everything. The router is still in route, and it should arrive to their offices tomorrow. Once they receive the WRT1900 AC V1, they are going to send me an EA8500 as a replacement. But I have been reading the comments about the EA8500 here in the forum and it seems to have the same problems. I guess the firmware is extremely flawed in both routers (maybe it is almost the same code?). Anyway, I will try the EA8500 and I hope it works. I bought a temporary router from Walmart and I paid $35 for it. It is a Belink N600 DB. I can't believe that a $35 router is working a lot, lot, lot better than my previous $250 WRT1900AC router. Unbelievable. If the EA8500 doesn't work, I'm going to try and get my money back from Linksys, or contact The Consumerist or someone to get my money back and get a Nighthawk instead.

  • [SOLVED] Sound doesn't work anymore

    Hi,
I just installed cinnamon to test it and pulseaudio was one of its dependencies. But after testing it a few minutes, I uninstalled it again with the -Rs option.
After login to my old i3 wm the sound didn't work again. I have no explanations. Has anyone an idea how I can solve this problem?!
    Thanks in advance!

i have updated everything and have checked my computer for viruses and have found nothing.

  • SOLVED Java not working in Firefox

I just did a brand new install 2 days ago and I cannot get java to work in firefox.  Icedtea-web is installed and it shows up in the plugins, but it doesn't work.

edb wrote:First, thanks for the replies and the help.  I upgraded to Icedtea-web version 3 and downgraded to Java 7.  It still doesn't work though.  During the install there was a note that said Icedtea-web-java7 was needed for web support but I was unable to find the package.  Is it still needed?
I was talking about icedtea 3.x for openjdk 8, not icedtea-web 3 (is there icedtea-web 3?). icedtea provides a more opensource-friendly build environment for openjdk and the openjdk7 packages are built using icedtea 2.x (you can see in the version). icedtea 3.x for openjdk8 isn't ready now, so Arch ships the "vanilla" openjdk built directly from Oracle's source. Arch will switch to icedtea as soon as icedtea 3.0.0 releases and then I guess icedtea-web will work with java8-openjdk. icedtea and icedtea-web are totally different things are they always cause a lot of confuse.
You can just install java7-openjdk (it doesn't conflict with java8-openjdk) and switch to java 7 using archlinux-java command at least it works on my machine.

  • Sound suddenly stop working.[SOLVED]

I just rebooted and then my sound doesn't work. I run alsaconf, edit the generated file. reboot and now it still (and the network!) doesn't work. I can't recall modifying anything prior to the sound crashing. I get this pop-up telling my my sound is already in use or bad configured. Can it be that I launch a program that use OSS without knowing it? How can I check that? Other suggestions?
    /Richard
BTW I can still use the web but it doesn't launch automaticly anymore (ie have to run dhcpcd).

I get this feedback when running xine:

    Hello everyone,
I have a problem with sound on my laptop. My laptop speakers doesn't work, but if I connect my headphones to the 3.5mm jack, headphones sound correctly. I managed a few days ago to fix this issue, but after a few days without problems, it stopped working.

How exactly did you fix it and what happened to break it?
Well I simply removed /var/lib/alsa/asound.state, and rebooted. Then the sound started working. Then I used a live-cd distro that I'm testing for my University, and when I rebooted the next time, the sound didn't work.
    chris_l wrote:Using the options of the snd-hda-intel driver may fix it: http://wiki.sabayon.org/index.php?title … ound_Cards
I haven't had time to try it. This morning, started working without doing anything... there must be trolls inside my laptop. I hope this time will continue working indefinitely.
    Thanks a lot for answering.
EDIT: Yesterday before shuting down my laptop I returned the configuration I had changed to its original state, so that could be the change that made my speakers work again this morning.

  • My sound does not work on my computer

    Hey
I don't know if anyone can help me but my sound is not working on my computer. I went to my system preferences and when I click on output it says that the device has no output controls. I don't know why it is doing this. Can anyone help me to solve this problem?

    See:
    * https://support.mozilla.org/kb/No+sound+in+Firefox
    * https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Video+or+audio+does+not+play
You can click the Volume icon on the Windows Taskbar near the clock and click the Mixer link at the bottom to open the mixer.<br />
You can adjust the volume level for each application in that window, so make sure that Firefox is not muted or set at a low level.<br />
Current Firefox versions use the plugin-container process to run plugins, so you need to check the volume setting for the plugin-container process.<br />
You will only see the Firefox program or the Plugin Container in the Mixer if you are on a website that plays sound.
