[Solved] nvidia-ck-corex: requires nvidia-utils=290.10

Hi all,
I've been using arch time and I am very happy with it, but today when updating the system had a problem I'm not sure you know how to solve.
I have a problem with the nvidia-kernel and nvidia corex ck-utils, this is what appears on the terminal
Error: failed to prepare transaction (could not Satisfy dependencies)
Starting full system upgrade :: ...
:: Nvidia-ck-corex: requires nvidia-utils = 290.10
Does anyone have an idea of how to solve the pronlema?
A greeting.

    I've downgraded nvidia because nvidia-290.10 doesn't work at all for me.
    Q: Now, what options do I have?
    To cut a long story short...
    A: use pacman -Syud
    Thanks again, I've learned a lot these days.

    I was going to upgrade the kernel, going to init 1 and compiling the nvidia.ko from source.
    How do I do it?
    I got the same problem, and my solution was:
    1) Use pacman -U to install nvidia-290.10-2 and nvidia-utils-290.10-1 (downloaded directly from a mirror). This will force a kernel upgrade.
    2) Use pacman -Syu to make entire system up-to-date
    3) Use pacman -R nvidia to remove this package
    4) Through ABS get the PKGBUILD of nvidia-utils version 290.10 and change the version to 285.05.09
    4a) You must also change the md5sum number, for i686 it's 2d469a90abef50320f548cfa8085e3a0
    4b) Use makepkg to build the package, and install both created packages (nvidia-utils and opencl-nvidia)
    5) Through ABS get the PKGBUILD of nvidia version 290.10 and change the version to 285.05.09 and pkgrel from 1 to 3.
    5a) You must also change the md5sum number, for i686 it's 2d469a90abef50320f548cfa8085e3a0
    5b) Use makepkg to build the package, and install created package nvidia
    6) Edit /etc/pacman.conf add opencl-nvidia to the ignore list
    7) Reboot and enjoy
    Hope this works for you too.
    Ps: Just for the record, I really hate nvidia for not supporting my graphic card anymore...

  • Nvidia-utils: missing dependency [solved]

    Fresh Arch installation to a friend's laptop (ftp installation). After installing xorg, nvidia and KDE, I run
    nvidia-settings
    and got that:
    $ nvidia-settings
    nvidia-settings: error while loading shared libraries: libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    Obviously a simple
    pacman -Sy gtk2
    fixed the issue, but equally obviously the package dependencies should be fixed.

    nvidia-utils does not depend on gtk2. This is dependency only for nvidia-settings, and not required for the rest of nvidia-utils package.
    You just didn't notice this message when installing nvidia-utils:
    By using this package you accept the NVIDIA license,
    which has been installed in /usr/share/licenses/nvidia/LICENSE
    If you do not accept this license, you must remove the package immediately.
    Dont forget to update your /etc/X11/xorg.conf
    In order to use nvidia-settings, you need to install 'gtk2' package.

  • [SOLVED] Ugrading nvidia-utils/libgl in proper way

    This is my first post so hello everybody.
    I'm wondering if there is a proper way of upgrading nvidia-utils from 313.26 to 313.30. New release doesn't provide libgl so when i try to upgrade, i get error like this:
    % sudo pacman -S nvidia-utils

    looking for inter-conflicts...
    error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)

    :: webkitgtk2: requires libgl
    :: webkitgtk3: requires libgl
    :: wxgtk: requires libgl
    :: xorg-xdriinfo: requires libgl
    on the other hand, I can't install nvidia-libgl (which provides libgl) because it conflicts with outdated nvidia-utils:
    % sudo pacman -S nvidia-libgl
    resolving dependencies...
    looking for inter-conflicts...
    :: nvidia-libgl and nvidia-utils are in conflict (libgl). Remove nvidia-utils? [y/N] y

    $ sudo pacman -Syu nvidia-libgl
    But new nvidia (pkgrel >= 2) has libgl as a dependency, so it seems your repo is not (yet) updated. If it is, then the command is:
    $ sudo pacman -Syu

  • Lib32-nvidia-utils version problem [Solved]

    Hi,
    first of all sorry if this is the wrong place to put this secondly I'd have a go myself in fixing this but i'm not that comfortable in package building just yet.
    I notice there has been an update to the lib32-nvidia-utils package on 2010-09-15 which is currently conlicting with the x86_64 nvidia package (last updated on 2010-09-01) due to version numbering.
    the x86_64 nvidia driver version is currently at 256.53-1 and the  lib32-nvidia-utils  is currently at 256.53-2
    due to this mismatch in version the X server will not start. can the maintainers either update the x86_64 nvidia package and the x86_64 nvidia-utils package to version 256.53-2 or rollback the lib32-nvidia-utils to 256.53-1 please
    I only managed to fix this problem on my system by installing the older version lib32-nvidia-utils package I had in the "/var/cache/pacman/pkg/" folder but for someone working from a fresh build of arch will bugger them right up.
    Last edited by balasarius (2010-10-06 15:20:10)

    OK call me an absolute  NOOB!!!
    I spent nearly 3 hours last night getting the same version mismatch error with nvidia 256.53-1  and lib32-nvidia-utils 256.53-2  doing that exact same thing I've just done to try and recreate the error,  and now the thing wants to work.
    there must be little gremlins living in my machine driving me potty.
    if I make any more topics like this that turn in to a load of waffle then feel free to pick up a plank of 2x4 (a.k.a. The I.T. Educator) and crack me over the head with it

  • [SOLVED] building xorg-server: libgl & nvidia-utils conflict

    Hello!
    I somehow feel like I'm totally missing the point, but...
    edit: although I think (not sure any more) this was the same procedure when I first compiled xorg-server, I maybe should mention, I'm now using the testing xorg.
    I still don't really understand, why I need libgl to build xorg-server. Aren't nvidia-utils supposed to replace that? Is there a way of building xorg-server with nvidia-utils instead of libgl and if yes: are there (dis-/) advantages doing so other than not having to uninstall nvidia-utils while compiling xorg-server?
    Or the other way around: Perhaps it's just me, but I feel "funny" having to remove something that's vital to my installation before I can compile something that's vital to my installation, too... so is it really OK to remove nvidia-utils and compile xorg-server without it or am I doing it wrong?
    Thank you for enlightening me
    Last edited by whoops (2009-04-07 02:20:51)

    Well AFAIK, The nVIDIA closed source drivers haven't caught up with xorg server 1.6 which is why you need libgl to build xorg-xserver 1.6+. I personally perfer the open source drivers over Fglrx (FireGL and Radeon X) and the closed source nVIDIA drivers as well.
    edit: xorg server is 1.6 in testing so if you want to compile from source, and have the closed source nvidia drivers, you would need to compile xorg server 1.5.XX
    P.S. You cannot have both, the nvidia drivers and the open source drivers (libgl), running at the same time which is why the nvidia-* packages are to be removed.
    Cheers!

    I believe I saw in steam logs
    libGL error: unable to load driver: swrast_dri.so
    libGL error: failed to load driver: swrast
    but I can see it no longer. It must be that I have this library installed.
    $ find / -mount -name '*swrast*'
    /usr/lib/xorg/modules/dri/kms_swrast_dri.so

    /usr/lib32/xorg/modules/dri/kms_swrast_dri.so
    /usr/lib32/xorg/modules/dri/swrast_dri.so
    You can get it too by installing proper packages

    /usr/lib/xorg/modules/dri/swrast_dri.so belongs to mesa 10.5.3-1

    /usr/lib32/xorg/modules/dri/swrast_dri.so belongs to lib32-mesa 10.5.3-1
    I do not know why your steam tries to load nouveau. Perhaps you have not installed the packages I mentioned in my previous post. nvidia blacklists nouveau. Make sure you have exactly the same state I have described and u will get steam, at least, starting up.

    My current setup requires me to run the latest nvidia drivers. I have downloaded and installed them from nvidia's website and have been running without issue. My problem is that the 'nvidia-utils' package now wants to be upgraded, and the upgrade wants to install files that are already installed from the stock nvidia driver.
    When I try to upgrade I get the following error:
    (435/435) checking for file conflicts [#####################] 100%
    error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
    nvidia-utils: /usr/lib/libXvMCNVIDIA.so.195.36.15 exists in filesystem
    nvidia-utils: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so.195.36.15 exists in filesystem
    Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
    Is the nvida-utils package required by other packages? If so, how can I tell? I looked here: http://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra … dia-utils/ and it says that it is only required by the 'nvidia' package....
    Can this be safely removed?

    > Is there a way to tell if nvidia-utils is a dependency for other packages installed on my sytem?
    Sure: 'pacman -Qi nvidia-utils | grep Required'. If you get "Required By    : None" then pacman know of no deps.
    You can also 'pacman -Rs nvidia-utils' and pacman either will remove the package and all the other unneeded packages or will tell you that some package needs nvidia-utils.
    > It's best not to install without pacman.
    +1 The nVidia webpage will tell which ones you need for your card, but you use install the drivers via pacman.

  • Wine - lib32-nvidia-utils

    I'm trying to play a game via wine, the game needs the lib32-nvidia-utils package.
    If I try to install it from the repos, pacman tells me that it is unavailable, even after repo syncing with pacman -Sy...
    ( Arch package search shows me that it is normally in the community repos )
    However, I've navigated to a repo in my browser,
    downloaded it manually, and tried to install it ( with pacman -U).
    Then pacman tells me something like:
    the package lib32-nvidia-utils conflicts with lib32-libgl.
    khm...
    lib32-libgl is needed by lib32-mesa which is needed by wine.
    so, how to install lib32-nvidia-utils?
    host is archx86_64, nvidia driver is 190.42, with gnome 2.28, wine version is 1.1.34-2, installed from AUR (bin32-wine)

    sorry, it is solved....
    pacman -Syy ( forced syncing )
    sudo pacman -S lib32-nvidia-utils
    remove lib32-libgl, it doesn't break anything...
    wine launches well and the games ( as any wine app ) is working fine

  • How to get debugging symbols for libGL.so.1 library? (nvidia-utils)

    Hello all
    Will see, I am getting many crashes of applications in KDE. In the majority of these accidents I get a backtrace from KBugbuster (or whatever that application is called) that includes the library libGL.so.1. Here a small example:
    #0 0xb7888424 in __kernel_vsyscall ()
    #1 0xb54d198b in pthread_cond_wait@@GLIBC_2.3.2 () from /lib/libpthread.so.0
    #2 0xb57740ec in pthread_cond_wait@@GLIBC_2.3.2 () from /lib/libc.so.6
    #3 0xb2926af3 in vlc_cond_wait () from /usr/lib/libvlccore.so.4
    #4 0xb28a412e in ?? () from /usr/lib/libvlccore.so.4
    #5 0xafac170c in ?? () from /usr/lib/libGL.so.1
    #6 0x00000000 in ?? ()
    I know libGL.so.1 is a library included into nvidia-utils package becouse:
    $ pacman -Ql | grep /usr/lib/libGL.so.1
    nvidia-utils /usr/lib/libGL.so.1
    I downloaded the PKGBUILD for nvidia-utils through abs and I changed it a bit by adding the !strip flag at the option field:
    options=('!strip')
    But it did not work. Today, still, I don't have debugging symbols for libGL.so.1. I have corroborated this using nm command:
    $ nm -a /usr/lib/libGL.so.1
    nm: /usr/lib/libGL.so.1: no symbols
    Watching the PKGBUILD for nvidia-utils I see this is not a build, apparently it only download the files and put them in the appropriate places. I think this is why the flag !strip does not work in this case.
    So I have looked for information at the official nvidia site for compiling libGL.so.1 by myself but only appears complex information for developers not for a end user like me.
    Can anyone guide me or something with this? please.
    Thanks so much.

    Hi Alexander,
    As you need read-only access to the SBO database, you could use a straight database connection. You could maybe use the following Microsoft php extension:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=ccdf728b-1ea0-48a8-a84a-5052214caad9&displaylang=en
    The Web Service wrapper for the DI Server is a good solution if you want to be able to write data back to SBO. Please note the DI Server requires additional licensing from SAP.
    You don't mention what database platform is used by your e-shop site. An alternative approach would be to use an integration tool (something like Pentaho) to pull or push data between the e-shop database and the SBO database (again, this is only possible for reading data from SBO not writing).
    Kind Regards,
    Owen

  • Libgl and nvidia-utils

    I am trying to update with pacman but get this error;
    :: Starting full system upgrade...
    resolving dependencies...
    looking for inter-conflicts...
    warning: removing 'libgl' from target list because it conflicts with 'nvidia-utils'

    :: savage-dri: requires libgl=7.7.1
    :: sis-dri: requires libgl=7.7.1
    :: tdfx-dri: requires libgl=7.7.1
    Can I safely remove these drivers to allow upgrade?
    I only have an nvidia gpu so I do not see a problem in removing these....:/
    I could be wrong of course.
    Any advice welcome.

    pacman -Rd libgl
    pacman -S nvidia-utils
    it provides "libgl", so there is no prob.

    FIXED NOW. REMOVED the CONFLICTING file. big deal.
    Hello i just do my usual pacman -Syu and hit a problem with nvidia-utils package.

    Maybe just some minor problem, will se what i do with it later today.
    !!Fixed now.
    Not a big deal, tried to stop X and remove nvidia module but had to move or remove this file
    /usr/lib/libXvMCNVIDIA_dynamic.so.1
    to somewhere.
    And upgrade of nvidia-utils finished fine then.

    cell wrote:I read some where that the conflict comes when if you install with the script from nvidia.com and then reverse back to the driver from the repository.
    Same happened to me.
    I never installed anything manually, and I also had that issue.
    So the explanation given in the link I gave above is more probable, at least in my case.
    Otherwise, simply removing the conflicting file is in my opinion the easiest and safest way.
