[solved] OpenOffice's spellcheck doesn't seem to check spelling.

Having a bit of a problem with this, folks. I set the language, but when I hit F7 it simply tells me that the spellcheck is complete. I know for a fact that a lot of the words are spelled wrong (I put gibberish in to test it), and still nothing. What gives?

Ah, there we go.
That's a little odd, all the dictionaries are in the directory, but nothing's "installed"?

  • [solved] fancontrol - fan speed doesn't seem to change after boot

    I used fancontrol to control my fan but after I rebooted it doesn't seem to speed up the fan when it hits MAXTEMP whereas it did before I rebooted.
    Before the boot I set the CPU governer to performance (3.1Ghz) to heat up the cpu to test the fan cooling (using lm_sensors) and when it hit around 65c the fan got faster and cooled it adequately but after reboot the temp has gone right up to 90c and the fan doesn't even sound like it has sped up.

    Thank you for your response. I did have the lm_sensors.service problem before but not when I had this problem (I solved that by adding the modules created by sensors_detect to a module-load.d file.)
    The problem (I think) came from trying to fix the boot-to-boot inconsistencies (caused by lm_sensors.service). What I did was blacklist my k10temp module and that stopped a device from being detected. Then, when I generated the configuration file it didn't add the device.
    Below is my new configuration file, where you can see the device(hwmon1) is now in it.

  • LR5 's Adjustment Brush doesn't seem to work-does the New Radial Filter have priority?

    So why in the world would I update Lightroom in the middle of a job.?
    Before I was able to do in and touch up shadowy areas using (K) adjustment brush, but now it doesn;t seem to work. The radial brush does a good job for a defined area but for SPOT touching I have always used the the adjustment brush?
    Is there a setting or am I missing something or is this a bug?

    The presence of the Radial Filter in the tool set should have no effect on the Brush. It continues to work just as it always has. In fact, even if the RF is open (I sometimes hit it by mistake when I really want the Brush) and you click on the Brush icon, the RF closes and the Brush opens. If your Brush is not functioning properly, it is very unlikely that the RF is the reason. The usual first aid for any LR misbehavior is to close LR, remove the Preferences file from its folder and relaunch LR, allowing it to make a new preferences file. Not guaranteed to solve the problem, but worth trying.

When firefox or my computer crashes the tabs are saved, but when I try to exit myself I can't. Can someone tell me how to solve this?

    Hi, I have a similar problem. When playing music, the screensaver has stopped working. Instead all I get is a white screen. I have checked all the settings and they are ok. The photos show and the albums show will work. But as soon as I switch back to slideshow I get the white screen back. It is even like this in 'Preview'.
    Have you solved the problem now. If so, how?
    Anyone else affected? I took a new software update to the Apple TV two days ago. Could this be the problem?

  • Dnscmd's OpenAcl option doesn't seem to change DNS record permissions

    I'm creating DNS A records with dnscmd /recordadd, and I can't see a difference in the A record's permissions whether I use the OpenAcl option or not. Is this normal?
    I was expecting with OpenAcl to see permissions similar to Write permissions for Authenticated Users or something. Instead I can't see any difference in the permissions at all and the permissions for non-admins are Read permissions for Everyone.
    The DCs run win 2008 R2 SP1. The syntax I've been using for dnscmd.exe is:
    dnscmd /recordadd mydomain.com mycomputer /aging /openacl A 192.168.0.123
    I want to migrate from Infoblox DNS to AD-integrated. So I'm expecting to export to csv from Infoblox, reformat the csv file a bit and use dnscmd.exe to read the reformatted csv and create DNS records in AD. I'll also enable the option on the Windows computers
    to register their DNS records.
    I think that the records that dnscmd.exe creates in AD won't have permissions that allow the Windows computers to overwrite them unless I use the OpenAcl option. But OpenAcl doesn't seem to make any difference to the permissions. Very confusing! Thanks for
    any help.

    Thanks Kumar and sorry for replying so late. What you said is correct and what solved my problem was running Windows Update. I was testing using W2K8 R2 with SP1 but no updates after that. After I ran Windows Update, then creating a DNS record using dnsmd.exe
    with the /OpenAcl argument did indeed set the permissions on the DNS record so that Authenticated Users could write to it.

Now to try it with my old 10.4.x powerbook to see if it's solved there too.
    Hope that helps!

  • [solved] OpenOffice Writer without password function

    Hey there,
    I just found out, that my german OpenOffice version of writer (2.3.1) doesn't seem to have the ability to save a document with a password. The help pages tell that the option is supposed to be found under "save as..." and a check box (save with password). But it's not there. A second help entry says, that one can only use a password when saving under the fileextension xml but I hardly doubt that.
    Another way I tried was to go to Extras -> Options -> OpenOffice.org -> Security and hit the button at the very end of this tab (secure? It's "schützen" in German) to secure the doc with a password. Unfortunately, after clicking on it and typing in a password (twice), confirming, closing and re-opening the document again, there's no password request and the doc opens just like that (so what is the password for anyway?).
    Do I have to tick another option or have I just configured writer wrongly? I am using arch 2.6.23 and installed openoffice from the repository.
    I am glad for any help. Thanks for it in advance!

    Hey, thanks gothmog.todi, I am both happy that it is working and that it wasn't me being stupid! Now I just have to find out who to email for the translation error to get fixed in the next version... If you have a tip, let me know.
    Thanks anyway again!

    Hey,
    Probably you need to update your system. Lately Openoffice was broken, because of hunspell: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=47410
    Otherwise check your OO.o settings in 'Tools/Options.../Language settings'.

  • The iTunes "buy" button doesn't seem to be working. I click it and nothing happens. Anyone know why? Thanks.

    The iTunes "buy" button doesn't seem to be working. I click it and nothing happens. Anyone know why? Thanks.

    Apple made some sort of programming change on 12.26.12 to their iTunes system that suddenly made the Buy button non-functional specifically in the directly-out-of-the-box Snow Leopard (10.6.3). [I had Leopard, same as you, 10.5.8, and that was still working then. I installed Snow Leopard a couple of days ago to my MacBook, and discovered the Buy Button didn't work.
    First step: Pull down "Software Update" from the Apple menu (that annoying thing we always ignore.) If you're using Snow Leopard 10.6.3, it'll upgrade you for free to 10.6.8, and that should solve your iTunes problem. (I don't know if there are any upgrades for 10.5.8, but unlike the other ungodly system upgrades, Snow Leopard is only $20. Because Apple is growing increasingly stupid, you can't buy it online--you have to call customer care.)
    Hope this helps. Let me know if it does.

  • Uninstall doesn't seem to be working...

    I've just upgraded to CS5.5 from CS3. I want to uninstall CS3 and have gone to Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers/ Add or remove CS3... as instructed in other posts. But this doesn't seem to do anything after asking me for my password. Nothing happens. I have looked on the original install disk but can't find a deinastaller. I'm using a Mac Lion 10.7.2. What should I do?

    I just solved a CS3 uninstall issue I've been fighting for many days. Like many people with similar problems (in multiple posts I read) my problems began when I tried to migrate my CS3 suite via Mac's Migration Assistant utility to a new system. Apparently this is not the route to go for Adobe apps. After this expereince, I would now recommend deactivate and uninstall and then re-install from disc when possible.
    I literally tried to uninstall and re-install 5 times, I then also tried the oft referenced CS Cleaner Tool a couple times and that didn't work either. I researched and stumbled upon an app/utility called AppDelete via:
    www.reggieashworth.com/appdelete
    I am not associated w/ company, I have nothing to gain: this is a legit, satisfied, (elated) consumer review!
    I still had all my apps in Applications following my last install attempt. I purchased the app via site for  $7.99. In one fell swoop, I simply grabbed and dragged all my CS apps to the AppDelete 'garbage can'. It listed and found a bunch of 'hidden' files within preferences, library, etc. It listed all associated files, gives you the option of deselecting files/settings, and then quickly removed them.
    Really wish I'd found this before about 10+ wasted hours of inserting discs!!

  • CustomField doesn't seem to be set

    Good morning,
    I would like to use CustomField to identify the connected
    members. The CustomField doesn't seem to work. I've added some
    trace to check:
    if (!cSession.userManager.isCustomFieldDefined("memberID")){
    cSession.userManager.registerCustomUserField("memberID");
    cSession.userManager.setCustomUserField(cSession.userManager.myUserID,
    "memberID", myMemberID);
    status.text=status.text+" \n setting memberID "+myMemberID;
    status.text=status.text+" \n memberID set to
    "+cSession.userManager.getUserDescriptor(cSession.userManager.myUserID).customFields.memb erID;
    I get the following content in the status field:
    setting memberID 123
    memberID set to undefined
    Am I doing something wrong?
    Regards,
    Axel

    Hi,
    There are some things I would point out and also attach a
    code I ran solving your problem.
    a) After you set the customField, you need to wait till its
    actually set, you need to wait till you receive the
    CUSTOM_FIELD_CHANGE event from usermanager ( see my attached code).
    b) The way you access a customField is
    customFilelds['fieldName'] and not customFields.fieldName
    Lastly ,as an added information in the next drop which is
    coming in few weeks, we have added ways where you get an event once
    you have registered your customFileld so that you wait for it
    before setting your customFiled ,and also you would be able to
    delete your customField. And you can also do both register and
    delete from the dev console.
    Here is the complete attached code for your problem
