[SOLVED] pacman error: database not found (during an install)

i am trying to install an app
when installing
# pacman -S /path/to/dir/app.tar.gz
error: database not found
when i look inside the tar, theres only one file, app.bin
im sure its some fundamental that im missing.  so i have to makepkg first , or am i missing a command during the intallation, or is the file broken?

removing that folder fixed it. i dont know if it was a coding mistake or just my box did something stupid today :S

I don't know if this error occured during an update of right after you've invoked pacman, but in any way synchronizing pacman I think should fix the issue. This is something you might have tried before deleting the file, but then again I don't know when the error occured. If it occured immediately deleting the file would probably be the easiest solution. I would've done the same.
If you've synchronized pacman after you've removed the file all should be well now, maybe something indeed went wrong during an update (maybe your mirror went down or something, you never know).
yes, the error apperared right after syncing the databases. the update went as expected...

  • "ERROR disk not found" during boot cdrom installation

We were booting a T4-4 server from a Solaris 10 boot ISO and command I used was "boot rcdrom - install as nowin" (i was mounting the ISO using the serial redirection window etc, hence the rcdrom)
It worked great asking for the" language to be installed" and "network setting and etc."
then it starts communicating with the jump server to pick up the jumpstart script and etc still working great. but when it start to install, it returned with "ERROR no disk found"
I am sure there are two 600G disk on the server. not sure why it think there is no disk during the installation. googled it and some said something related to raid and i cannot get a conclusion.

  • Libsamplerate-0.1.2-4-i686.pkg.tar.gz not found during MPD install

    ran pacman -S mpd
    Targets: libmikmod-3.1.12-1  libsamplerate-0.1.2-4  mpd-0.13.1-2
I was able to get the first and third fine when Synching the package, but all the mirrors failed to retrieve libsamplerate-0.1.2-4. Do I need to download and compile the newest version of libsamplerate myself or will the pacman repositories obtain it?
edit: I compiled -0.1.3 myself. hopefully that will do it.
Last edited by elephantos (2008-05-14 00:43:00)

In such situations one would do:
    pacman -Syy
Current libsamplerate version is 0.1.3, the database information is not in sync, so it's refreshed. Compilation is not a solution. If after running the above you still can't get it to install, it's possibly a bug or a fault somewhere which you shouldn't ignore.

  • ISE Guest Portal - Error Resource not found

    Hello,
When I create a guest user through the sponsor portal, then try to login with this guest user through the Guest Portal, after I press login button, the following error message occurs and do not know what to do to solve.
    Error: Resource not found.
    Resource: /guestportal/
None of the messages on the forum about it helped me to solve the problem.
I am using ISE 1.1.3.124 and this is a new re-image appliance.
    Can anyone help?

    Hello,
As you are not able to  get the guest portal, then you need to assure the following things:-
    1) Ensure that the  two  Cisco av-pairs that are configured on the authorization profile should  exactly match the example below. (Note: Do not replace the "IP" with the  actual Cisco ISE IP address.)
    –url-redirect=https://ip:8443/guestportal/gateway?...lue&action=cpp
–url-redirect-acl=ACL-WEBAUTH-REDIRECT (ensure that this ACL is also  defined on the access switch)
    2) Ensure that the URL redirection portion of the ACL have been applied  to the session by entering the show epm session ip   command on the switch. (Where the session IP is the IP address that is  passed to the client machine by the DHCP server.)
    Admission feature : DOT1X
    AAA Policies : #ACSACL#-IP-Limitedaccess-4cb2976e
    URL Redirect ACL : ACL-WEBAUTH-REDIRECT
    URL Redirect :
    https://node250.cisco.com:8443/guestportal/gateway?sessionId=0A000A72
    0000A45A2444BFC2&action=cpp
    3) Ensure that the preposture assessment DACL that is enforced from the  Cisco ISE authorization profile contains the following command lines:
    remark Allow DHCP
permit udp any eq bootpc any eq bootps
    remark Allow DNS
permit udp any any eq domain
    remark ping
    permit icmp any any
permit tcp any host 80.0.80.2 eq 443 --> This is for URL redirect
permit tcp any host 80.0.80.2 eq www --> Provides access to internet
permit tcp any host 80.0.80.2 eq 8443 --> This is for guest portal
    port
permit tcp any host 80.0.80.2 eq 8905 --> This is for posture
communication between NAC agent and ISE (Swiss ports)
permit udp any host 80.0.80.2 eq 8905 --> This is for posture
communication between NAC agent and ISE (Swiss ports)
permit udp any host 80.0.80.2 eq 8906 --> This is for posture
communication between NAC agent and ISE (Swiss ports)
    deny ip any any
Note:- Ensure that the above URL Redirect has the proper Cisco ISE FQDN.
    4) Ensure that the ACL with the name "ACL-WEBAUTH_REDIRECT" exists on  the switch as follows:
    ip access-list extended ACL-WEBAUTH-REDIRECT
    deny ip any host 80.0.80.2
    permit ip any any
    5) Ensure that the http and https servers are running on the switch:
    ip http server
    ip http secure-server
    6) Ensure that, if the client machine employs any kind of personal  firewall, it is disabled.
    7) Ensure that the client machine browser is not configured to use any  proxies.
    8) Verify connectivity between the client machine and the Cisco ISE IP  address.
    9) If Cisco ISE is deployed in a distributed environment, make sure that  the client machines are aware of the Policy Service ISE node FQDN.
    10) Ensure that the Cisco ISE FQDN is resolved and reachable from the  client machine.
    11) Or you need to do re-image again.

Yes, I think your local pacman database was corrupted - some files were probably missing. For instance on ext4 filesystem, it can take 30 seconds (by default) until the data is written from cache to the disk. If you hard reboot during that time, the files can go missing.

  • [SOLVED] == ERROR: file not found: `/sbin/dmsetup'

[EDIT] A much simpler way to deal with this is to explicitly ignore the kernel update during a full system update:
    pacman -Syu --ignore linux
Then explicitly update the kernel alone:
    pacman -S linux
[EDIT] First, after a full system update I had to move the STUB kernel image from the UEFI directory back to /boot, them recreate the images a second time. The systemd service moved it back to the UEFI directory.
[EDIT] The use of 'mdadm_udev' in HOOKS= also seems to be no longer just 'preferred' to the 'mdadm' hook but instead is now mandatory.
    I've read the news item...
    Changes to LVM
    2013-02-12 - Thomas Bächler
With lvm2 2.02.98-3, we now utilize lvmetad to activate LVM volumes automatically. This implies the following changes:
The lvm2 initramfs hook now requires the udev hook.
The use_lvmetad = 1 must be set in /etc/lvm/lvm.conf. This is the default now - if you have a lvm.conf.pacnew file, you must merge this change.
You can restrict the volumes that are activated automatically by setting the auto_activation_volume_list in /etc/lvm/lvm.conf. If in doubt, leave this option commented out.
If you need monitoring (needed for snapshots), run systemctl enable lvm-monitoring.service.
The lvmwait kernel command line option is no longer needed and has no effect.
If you run pacman -Syu and update device-mapper, linux and lvm2 at the same time, you will get an error message that /sbin/dmsetup is missing. Run mkinitcpio -p linux again after the update to avoid any problems.
...and I do get the message...
==> ERROR: file not found: `/sbin/dmsetup'
...but after a full system update with...
    pacman -Syu
    ...when I execute...
    mkinitcpio -p linux
    ...this is what I get...
    Building image from preset: 'default'
    /boot/vmlinuz-linux -c /etc/mkinitcpio.conf -g /boot/initramfs-linux.img
ERROR:specified kernel image does not exist: `/boot/vmlinuz-linux'
    Building image from preset: 'fallback'
    /boot/vmlinuz-linux -c /etc/mkinitcpio.conf -g /boot/initramfs-linux-fallback.img -S autodetect
ERROR:specified kernel image does not exist: `/boot/vmlinuz-linux'
So of course if I reboot I get the dreaded 'No volume groups found' message.
I should mention that I use the systemd path and service to move the kennel after it has been updated.

Just to confirm. You did all these steps, right?
    EDIT: I just noticed something:
KairiTech wrote:HOOKS="base udev autodetect sata mdadm usbinput keymap encrypt lvm2 filesystems timestamp shutdown"
    Replace
    mdadm
    with
    mdadm_udev
. Maybe this is nothing, but it is recommended to use this one instead of the other.
    NEW EDIT: Expecially this one
The use_lvmetad = 1 must be set in /etc/lvm/lvm.conf. This is the default now - if you have a lvm.conf.pacnew file, you must merge this change.

Not sure why typing 'gimp' is bringing up 'gimpshop', but anyhoo...
I just punched in 'http://mirrors.easynews.com/linux/archl … po/os/i686' into Epiphany and it 404's, so I'd assume it's down at the mo. Meantime, if you go into your mirrorlist and uncomment whichever 'Server = *' is closest to you (you could just do any of them, but the nearest ones will give you better performance) and comment out that bottom line.
All going to plan, that should sort it.

The following script class will write a log file entry. See if it will run for you.
The script is using a class object that you might not have seen before. A little intro:  The top section is just for testing the class. Normally I just comment this out after the class is working well.  It should run right way. I would save the vbs file in the editor, That way when you are using autoactpath or currentscriptpath variables they will be able resolve the paths.

This is confusing given this report. Could you confirm exactly the prompt you have when you try to run the configuration commands such as mkinitcpio -p linux.
Because, as Trilby says, if you really have successfully installed base and base-devel and chrooted into the system, you should not be seeing these errors. Also, I am pretty sure that you should not have needed to verify the master key manually. When Arch first introduced signing, manual verification of keys was required but I am almost certain that is no longer the case. So something is almost certainly wrong at an earlier stage and you need to fix that, as Trilby says, before moving onto the next stage.
EDIT: "As Trilby says" should now read "as Trilby says again" - I'm too slow.

I am seeing things are working fine, when I am using LKM SQL to Oracle in combination with IKM Oracle Incremental Update. It is only in the case of using LKM Oracle to Oracle(DBLINK) in combination with IKM Oracle Incremental Update, that the above mentioned error is thrown.
Please suggest on the resolution in using LKM Oracle to Oracle(DBLINK) with IKM Oracle Incremental Update...
    Thanks!
