[SOLVED] Pacman issue error, that apprently affects nothing.
I seem to get this error, repeatedly every time I do something with Pacman. Yet, it will still work exactly as it should. Any way I can get this to go away?

[SOLVED] Pacman GPGME error: No data
I recently bought a new computer and, of course, wanted to get away from windows 8 asap. I've installed arch several times before, and this time, from the outset, I've been plagued with GPGME errors. First was during the installation when I tried to install the base system with pacstrap. I solved that using the method here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=142798 (essentially delete /var/lib/pacman/sync and then run pacman -Syyu). From there on out, the install proceeded happily. After booting into my system, I attempted to begin downloading and installing things such as openssh, gparted, virt-manager...etc. Now I get the same error that I had before.
pacman -Syyu

error: failed to synchronuze any databases
error: failed to init transaction (invalid or corrupted database (PGP signature))
As soon as this happened, I attempted to re initialize pacman and the keys with
pacman-key --init && pacman-key --populate archlinux
This ran properly, but I was still unable to sync or update pacman. I then tried deleting /var/lib/pacman/sync and updating with the same result.
Next, I tried commenting out the mirrors, as that was mentioned in several posts while perusing the wiki. This still did not work. The next ting I tried was setting the SigLevel in the pacman.conf to Never, which brought about a whole host of different errors when trying to update (Unrecognized archive format error).
After reinitializing the keys again, deleting the /var/lib/pacman/sync folder and attempting another (unsuccessful) pacman -Syyu, and running pacman-key --refresh-keys, I set the SigLevel back to it's default, and decided it might be time to post asking for help. Does anyone have any other ideas that I could try? I've been working on this unsuccessfully for a few hours now, and I'd like to see it up and running.
Thank you all in advance!
Searching the archwiki, I tried these threads for additional help:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 2#p1111872 -- had a problem in pacman conf I do not
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=169225 --commenting out mirrors did not work
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=135310 --- did not help with archive errors
..... and many many more that were totally unrelated despite similar titles to mine
Last edited by ephreal (2014-03-29 23:28:46)I shutdown my computer, moved to a different network area, and it is now running happily. I have no idea why... perhaps firewall controls? Whatever the reason was, this is no longer happening. Marking as solved.

[SOLVED] Pacman issue after -Syu
Hello guys,
This morning I did a full update with "pacman -Syu", before that, I also did an installation for gnome and gnome-extra as well as openoffice. There were some connection loss during the update and perhaps some packages failed to be retrieved, however, I repeated "pacman -Syu" and install the packages again and again until it showed that everything was installed.
But after that, every time I execute the pacman command, I always get the message "error: could not open file /var/lib/pacman/sync/community/chrootuid-1.3-3/desc: No such file or directory", it still shows that "local db is up to date" though, however, it seems like virtualbox isn't installable as "pacman -S virtualbox-ose" returns a "not found" error.
Please give me your solution about this
Thank you

[solved] Pacman seems to think i have nothing installed
ok im quite new to arch linux and ive been attempting to get to grips with it quickly so i may have done something stupid here...
i installed arch with kde and have switched recently to the ice kernel, due to tryingto get compiz running and needing to update my graphics driver....
having done this however pacman seems to have lost the fact that it has ever installed anything...
is there a way to remedy this...
64bit btw...
thanks in advance for any input and let me know if i need to give any extra info...

Last edited by Navillus (2008-05-08 20:46:25)Well, pacman stores everything it knows about your system's packages in /var/lib/pacman/local -- if that dir is empty, then you're in trouble. There's a script floating around somewhere that takes your pacman.log from /var/log and tries to re-install every package that should be on your system in an attempt to recreate /var/lib/pacman/local - I can never remember where that script is though; you'll have to do a search.

[SOLVED] Pacman Dependency error with nouveau-dri and libgl
I am upgrading my system with
sudo pacman -Syu
The out put is as follows:
:: Synchronizing package databases...
testing is up to date
core is up to date
extra is up to date
community is up to date
:: Starting full system upgrade...
resolving dependencies...
looking for inter-conflicts...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: nouveau-dri: requires libgl=7.10.1
It seems that the newest libgl is 7.10.2-1, while the newest nouveau-dri(7.10.1-2) requires 7.10.1-1. An upgrade operation will upgrade the libgl from 7.10.1-1 to 7.10.2-1, which result in a conflict with nouveau-dri.
Is there any workaround? Do I have to wait for the nouveau-dri update?
THANKS!

Thanks @ngoonee !
It turns out that this is because the mirror (mirrors.163.com/archlinux) I am using is broken. It is holding <libgl 7.10.2-1> without <nouveau-dri 7.10.1-2> and simultaneously. I changed to http://mirrors.kernel.org/archlinux/ and the problem solves.
You're welcome. The mirror is/was probably just affected by a partial sync (the letter l is earlier than n ).
Yeah, that's a quite reasonable explaination :-) -
[SOLVED] PACMAN sig errors
Hi,
So i have this problem which started about a week ago, i reckon around the time of that pacman update. Anyway i'm getting signing erros on package installs and a sudo pacman-key --init
sudo pacman-key --populate archlinux with and without sudo pacman -Syy fixes it....till i reboot then it errors up again. I've removed the /etc/pacman.d/gnupg folder etc reinstalled archlinux-keyring, pacman without a fix. Sorry my first post here is a beg for ideas to help but i'm more of a lurker then poster.
If anyone needs more info i am happy to provide as i really would love to solve this. Long live arch linux
cheers
Al
edit:
Should add the keys show up with pacman-key -l or -f etc after reboot but doesn't stop me from errors. so the keyring is still there but not searched? but if i do a pacman-key --refresh-keys then it will find new keys but this will not fix the errors and allow package install. needs the --init then populate to allow install.
hope i'm clear enough
Last edited by woznme (2013-03-12 12:39:32)Allan it appears to be correct, and i disabled the ntpd check/set i had autostarting and that made no difference. Thanks for your efforts in helping troubleshoot this.
not sure this helps but if I logout my openbox session (--exit) then logon again the keyring is still working fine.

However when I do this as root I don't get the error, is this common, a google search didn't achieve anything that I could make sense of.
I had a go at reinstalling pacman but it's still there.
Thanks,
Ben.

I am getting Error that there is nothing to be processed.
I am trying to convert an access database to SQL 2008 Database. I have done this conversion multiple times with sucess but now I am getting the following error. I get this error when I try to create report, convert schema and migrate data.

Here is part of the log that was captured when I ran this conversion.

Can anyone help with this problem? I have check permissions on the access file and the database and I have full permission on both. I have check makes on both the database and the access table so I know they are selected. I am stuck.Some online resellers still have Snow Leopard in stock, but their prices are ridiculously high (Amazon.com is one). So your best bet is to call Apple; they will sell it for about $20 US as long as they still have stock.

[SOLVED] pacman download errors
the 2008.03-1.archboot.ftp.iso is the only iso that worked for me. after the install, i logged in using root. I ran pacman -S xorg but got an error. I checked the mirrorlist file and everything was uncommented. I ran pacman -Syy and got many errors. failed to synchronize any database. I did nano pacman.conf and in there was no ftp sites. i put Architecture = auto at the bottom of pacman.conf file and got an error.
your help is greatly appreciated.
Last edited by stevestark (2010-08-24 04:30:04)this computer cant boot a cd and no usb. my only option was the 2008 iso because the 2009 iso and 2010 iso were giving errors. so i cant do a system upgrade to 2010.5 once i get pacman fixed?

How do I solve printing issue "Error: /System/Library..."
I am printing from OS X 10.6.7 to an HP Photosmart C7180 over WiFi.It works just fine from the Admin account.
However, when I print from another user account, I get the following error:
/System/Library/Printers/Libraries/PrintJobMgr/Contents/MacOS/PrintJobMgr failed
I have checked the HP site and it looks like all the necessary drivers for this series of printers is already included in OS X 10.6
Does anyone have an idea how I can solve this problem?This error is usually caused by an invalid resource name, so if you are using VISA and want to connect to an instrument at address 2 on your first gpib board, use "GPIB0::2::INSTR".
Also, check that you can communicate with your instrument in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX). You might also try the interactive control to make sure that the GPIB communication is working.
http://www.ni.com/support/gpib/max/ibic.htm
If this isn't helpful, let us know what development environment you are using and the functions / VIs you are using to try and connect to your instrument. -
Pacman issue - error: .. : No such file or directory.
It seems I have my first issue, and it's with Pacman. I get this error everytime I sync the database or install a package, even though everything seems to go fine.
error: /var/lib/pacman/extra/flite-1.3-2/desc: No such file or directory
I don't know what flite is but it won't install it as it doesn't exist even though there is a directory called "flite-1.3-2" and it's empty. I've tried removing the directory but synching the database doesn't put it back. Also I've used 'pacman -Scc' to clear cache but still no joy.archuser wrote:

delete the directory /var/lib/pacman/extra and run pacman -Sy to restore. I believe if you delete just the flite directory it won't restore with Sy. -

I assume I need to wait for open-vm-tools to be updated now?
Last edited by Swarfega (2012-06-15 11:54:27)Wait until your server upload the recent Arch Linux updates. Than you will be able to upgrade it. Or do like i had: download open-bm-tools from Arch Linux official site and install it and then issue "pacman -Syu".

[solved] pacman update error
A few days ago I attempted to update my system, and am consistently getting this error:
$ sudo pacman -Su
:: Starting full system upgrade...
resolving dependencies...
looking for inter-conflicts...
error: failed to prepare transaction (package filename is not valid)
The problem is that this is all it gives me; even a pacman -Svu gives no more information than this. How can I identify the package that's causing the fault short of testing each installed package individually?
Last edited by beretta (2011-01-25 19:32:02)A pacman -Syy seems to have done the trick, thank you!
Not sure exactly what caused the problem, but I was able to get the system updated. I'm always impressed with how quickly this community jumps in to help; thanks to all of you. I even learned some new tricks through all of this. -
