Maybe try re-installing, I'm seeing it in the PKGBUILD from the AUR https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/te/t … r/PKGBUILD
Edit: Don't think you needed to start another thread on the subject though. https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=154171

  • [SOLVED]Starting a Daemon

    When installing the new update for teamviewer, (teamviewer 8) I get this message that tells me that the TeamViewer Daemon is not running, and to start it, and restart teamviewer. As we all know, Arch is build with systemd, or at least the default Arch install...
    ... How do I go about running the daemon?
    I've tried:
    Failed to issue method call: No such file or directory
    [ ~ ] > systemctl enable teamviewerd
    Failed to issue method call: No such file or directory
    This:
    [ ~ ] > systemctl start teamviewer
    Failed to issue method call: Unit teamviewer.service failed to load: No such file or directory. See system logs and 'systemctl status teamviewer.service' for details.
    As well as numerous different kinds of spellings for each word amongst these. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong here thus far.

    open a terminal, log in as root and type this from the # prompt
    # systemctl enable teamviewerd.service  <ENTER>
    you should get a response like this:
    ln -s '/usr/lib/systemd/system/teamviewerd.service' '/etc/systemd/system/graphical.target.wants/teamviewerd.service'
    then type in:
    # systemctl start teamviewerd.service <ENTER>
    if no errors it will return to the # prompt. Pardon my use of old dos (windows) nomenclature but e.g. <ENTER> for hitting the Enter key... I'm new here, and don't know how you get the actual terminal view added here, can use some help, thank you!

    From systemd.unit:
    Requires=
               Configures requirement dependencies on other units. If this unit gets activated, the
               units listed here will be activated as well. If one of the other units gets
               deactivated or its activation fails, this unit will be deactivated. This option may be
               specified more than once or multiple space-separated units may be specified in one
               option in which case requirement dependencies for all listed names will be created.
               Note that requirement dependencies do not influence the order in which services are
               started or stopped. This has to be configured independently with the After= or Before=
               options. If a unit foo.service requires a unit bar.service as configured with
               Requires= and no ordering is configured with After= or Before=, then both units will
               be started simultaneously and without any delay between them if foo.service is
               activated. Often it is a better choice to use Wants= instead of Requires= in order to
               achieve a system that is more robust when dealing with failing services.

  • [solved] Start X at Login not working for me

    I'm stripping down my system and decided to get rid of my login manager (slim) and just make the system boot straight into the GUI on boot-up. I followed directions found at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/St … sh_profile , but it's not working on this system. I just get dumped at a command prompt login when I reboot the system and, after having logged in, no X gets started. The system just sits there awaiting input at the prompt. If I enter startx, the GUI starts. But it's not starting at login as I'd like. Actually, it'd be even better if the system automatically logged me in and started X--like we used to do using inittab, once, etc. But that method's obviated now because of systemd, no? My WM is jwm, by the way. Tips on resolving this issue will be appreciated.

    You can still set up automatic login ("like we used to do using inittab, once, etc"): https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Au … al_console
    As for your original question, I assume you are using bash, and you have added the correct information to your ~/.bash_profile? ("but it's not working on this system" is a little vague). This works for me.
    [[ -z $DISPLAY && $XDG_VTNR -eq 1 ]] && exec startx

  • [Solved] Starting systemd --user as a systemd --system process?

    Hey guys,
    I would like to run systemd --user as a system service using this .service file I wrote:

    I enabled it for my user using `systemctl enable systemd-user@evan`, however, when starting it it fails with the following errors:
    Jul 21 21:14:42 desktop systemd[12920]: systemd 204 running in user mode. (+PAM -LIBWRAP -AUDIT -SELINUX -IMA -SYSVINIT +LIBCRYPTSETUP +GCRYPT +ACL +XZ)

    Is it possible to run systemd --user like this? Do I need to add something to my [email protected]?

    EDIT: I just realized that the systemd-user-session-units package will only include specific units at build-time weather I have have the programs or not. You're right, I should just use this package!
    Well, to be honest, maybe I'm trying to hack around a problem that doesn't even really exist, but I don't think the systemd-user-sessions-units package meets my needs.
    The way I would like to have my user sessions setup is something like this:
    I would like to have an instance of systemd --user always running under my user so I can keep things like transmission-daemon always running, even when I don't have a user session open. When I do start my user session (via logging into getty) I want to bring my systemd instance up to a certain target. For example, logging in via tty1 should bring up graphical.target, which will start X11 and all that, while logging into any other tty will start console.target (for stuff like ssh-agent etc).
    Thinking more about this I suppose there's really no reason I couldn't use the [email protected] from systemd-user-session-units, but since I won't use most of the other user units included, I would rather just not use it.
    Here's what my .profile looks like:
    if systemctl -q is-active systemd-user@evan
    then
    # Default systemd to the console target
    target="console"
    # If we're logging in from VT1 start the graphical target
    if [[ $XDG_VTNR == 1 ]] && ! systemctl --user -q is-active graphical.target &> /dev/null
    then
    export DISPLAY=:0
    target="graphical"
    fi
    # Set all environment variables in the systemd --user instance (still working on this)
    env | systemctl --user set-environment -
    # Bring up systemd --user to the specified target
    systemctl --user start ${target}.target
    fi
    source "$HOME/.bashrc"

  • [Solved] Starting applications locally but not SSH

    Ok, so.. argh..
    I'm normally good enough to figure these _basic_ things out but i'm bashing my head right now.
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Autostarting
    i want to run startx when logging in locally on a tty, but not when i initiate a user-session via SSH.
    Normally i'd place profiling stuff in .bashrc (variables, user aliases etc) and place startx in say a tty1.conf or something under /etc/init.d but since Arch is running systemd and starting x is not a daemon per sae i'm all out of luck here.
    How do you guys normally startx? and how do you separate autostarting applications locally, remote etc?
    Ps. I've started stuff via .config/openbox/autostart so that's fine.
    I need X not to iniatate every ssh session :)
    Solution (one of many):
    This solution will not only work through all terminals (meaning you don't check the terminal name) it will also not rely on tty or session names, it will instead check if the source is running under a X window (:0) or from an IP (10.0.0.1).
    If non of the above it defaults to starting x.
    Note: It will not distinguish running under systemd aparently and it also doesn't take in account if you're relaying X via SSH i guess (havn't tried that tho but it's an assumption).
    sudo nano /etc/profile.d/gui.sh
    #!/bin/bash
    me=`who am i`
    case "$me" in
    *\(:0\)*) echo "Youre in X" ;;
    *\(*.*.*.*) echo "Youre in SSH" ;;
    *) startx ;;
    esac

    You could also use lastlog to determine if you are logged in on a TTY or pseudo-terminal:
    ┌─[Veles ~]

    pts/9
    ┌─[Shiv ~ ]
    └─╼ lastlog -u jason | awk '/jason/ {print $2}'
    tty1
    # edit: or just grep it if you only need an exit status...
    This feels unpredictable right off the bat mainly because there's other services being found in lastlog, also if two people login at the exact same time and one of them get a "spike" in the process priority you'll end up giving the wrong sessiondata to the wrong user unless you check the username logged in against lastlog but that requires more processing power then a case/if clause from a single output source. Speed is everything, logic is next and everything else falls behind

    Edit: Check the DISPLAY Variable if you want to avoid starting multiply X-Servers. However, maybe $TERM might be another solution.
    Locally:
    [doxid@faparch ~]$ tty
    /dev/pts/1
    Remote SSH:
    [doxid@faparch ~]$ ssh [email protected]
    Last login: Wed Jun 12 02:27:53 2013 from 10.0.0.140
    Youre in SSH
    [root@lookabeaver ~]# tty | grep tty
    [root@lookabeaver ~]# tty
    /dev/pts/1
    Don't think this is a viable option.

    I think ewaller meant cut and not -cut.  But even then, what he is suggesting is that you print characters 10 through 12.  So it highly depends on the output length and therefore the number of letters in your username.  If you has used something like this it would have worked:
    who am i | cut -d' ' -f2
    Might work, but you're probably feteching:
    [doxid@faparch ~]$ who am i | cut -d' ' -f16

  • [SOLVED] Starting Full System Upgrade... There Is Nothing To Do

    "Starting Full System Upgrade... There Is Nothing To Do" is the only message I have ever seen when using pacman -Syu.  I have no problem installing files but pacman cannot seem to EVER find updates to anything.  Even when I know that a package has been updated in the repositories, pacman never acknowledges it.  Some examples of applications are:
    Python2 - Installed - 2.6.5-3, Available - 2.7.1-4
    Geany - Installed 0.19-1, Available - 0.20-1
    Pacman - Installed 3.4.0-2, Available - 3.4.2-1
    Even if I try to specify the repository, for Geany for instance, "pacman -S community/geany", it still sees it as up-to-date.
    It's quite possible that I'm going about something the wrong way but I don't ever recall the system actually finding updates (since June).  My pacman.conf looks as follows:
    MOD EDIT -- Please use code tags to display any output and of files -- Inxsible
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Also try to read the wiki about pacman and mirrorlist. Simply uncommenting multiple mirrors does not give you the ability to get packages from all of them. pacman will connect to each one in order. If it can connect to the first one and see that pacman is available it does not connect to the next mirror to see if some other mirror has an updated version of not.
    It connects to the next mirror if and only if a certain package is not available on the first mirror or the mirror itself is down.

    Looks like your stuff is outdated. Make sure all AUR packages are compiled against the latest libraries. Arch-games offers bin32-wine packaged as well.
    After yaourt -Su --aur the same error comes up. I also did a -Syu just because, no change to the error unfortunately.
    Is there anything else I could post that might help?

  • [SOLVED] Start process or script as a non root user on boot

    This is my first time posting here, I installed arch last week and have been able to firgure almost everything out. The wiki pages (very well written) and the forums have been a big help. However this is one question that I haven't been able to find the answer to.
    "How do I start a process or script as a user other then root at boot?"
    My guess is my inability to find an answer is mostly from my relitivly small understanding of bash scripting. If someone could point me to a guide or write down an example themselves I would greatly apriceate it.

    Yes, rc.local itself would hang, but if you background the process inside rc.local using the '&' symbol at the end of the command, then that command will be backgrounded and rc.local can continue.

  • [Solved]Starting up the database

    Hi Gurus,
    I have installed Oracle 10g Release2 in my Windows XP machine.
    I created 2 databases A and B.
    Now I would like to start the database manually.
    I set the ORACLE_SID=A. If I want to use the OS authentication I can go with
    sqlplus /nolog
    SQL> connect / as sysdba.
    Now I get connected to an ideal instance and it goes good from there. But if I want to use the encrypted File autherntication (connecting from remote machine) what should I do while connecting?
    Thanks in advance.

    You need to statically configure your database with the listener. See this example :

  • [SOLVED] start screen session as different user

    This is driving me nuts. I run an opensim server on system, and currently have a watchdog script used to check that the server is running and either run it or re-start it as necessary (in the event of a server crash).
    The server itself is run in a gnu screen session so that I can log in to the server remotely via ssh. At the moment I run my watchdog at login, which is not ideal. I want to run it at boot so that I don't actually have to login to start. A prime candidate for rc.local. However, starting the script in rc.local always starts the screen session as root, whatever I do, which is not what I want (obviously a publicly accessible server should not be running as root). Here's what I've tried so far:
    in rc.local:
    su user -c `sh /home/steve/scripts/checksim.sh` &
    in the script:
    su user -c 'screen -d -m mono Opensim.exe'
    Both tried together and varying combinations. I've also tried with sudo:
    sudo -u user -n -i ......
    Either the screen session doesn't start, or it starts as root. Any ideas?

    Argghhh - fixed it.
    One of my previous tries resulting in the server running as root had changed ownership of the server cache to root, preventing the server itself starting as a normal user. Fixed up ownership and tried again, now it's running properly from rc.local

  • [SOLVED]Starting from console Safely

    hi all
    I wanted to make a script to startx from in a secure way.
    With secure I'm thinking about:
         - No one can change to the TTY that i started in and simply <ctrl>+Z or C;
         - One can't simply kill bash without root user privileges so the same result as the above would happen; startx should be started with my regular user so my config is preserved.
    are there any more things i should take into account?
    This is where i've gotten so far:
    #!/bin/bash
    # VincyDM
    # Hier zorgen we ervoor dat de control + Z combinatie er niet voor zorgt
    # dat iemand commandos kan uitvoeren in mijn systeem.
    # Een handig commando voor trapping is 'trap -l' dit geeft een lijst van
    # alle traps op je systeem.
    # [BEGIN]Commando's als root uitvoeren
    trap "" 2 20;
    sudo su root << EOF || echo "Failed to log in as root.Exiting.";
    trap "" 2 20;
    read isStart;
    if [ "$isStart" == "Y" ]; then
    echo "Starting X...";
    su vincent -c "startx";
    else
    echo "nope";
    fi;
    EOF
    # [EINDE]Commando's als root uitvoeren
    exit 0;
    Regrettably, it does not work according to my own description

    exec xinit -- vt$XDG_VTNR
    This would meet both of your criteria.
    Or, if you have your xserverrc set up as the wiki describes (I don't) then you can just use `exec xinit` for the same results.  EDIT: It seems an update last night (which hasn't hit my mirrors yet) removed the need for specifying the vt in the above manner.  By default xinit will start it on the current vt.  so `exec xinit` should meet both of your requirements on a fully updated system.

  • [SOLVED] Starting X at boot (inittab- zprofile)

    So currently, my system boots automatically to X using the /etc/inittab method here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Start_X_at_Boot
    But in order to be 'local' in ConsoleKit, I'd like to switch to the ~/.zprofile method. (The first one, but I use zsh.)
    So my understanding on how this is done:
    Change
    ## Only one of the following two lines can be uncommented!
    # Boot to console
    #id:3:initdefault:
    # Boot to X11
    id:5:initdefault:
    to
    ## Only one of the following two lines can be uncommented!
    # Boot to console
    id:3:initdefault:
    # Boot to X11
    #id:5:initdefault:
    and comment out this line:
    x:5:once:/bin/su andy -l -c "/bin/bash --login -c /usr/bin/startx >/dev/null 2>&1"
    Now here's where I get a little foggy.
    Do I then change the c1:2345:respawn:/sbin/agetty -8 -s 38400 tty1 linux line in /etc/inittab to c1:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty --autologin andy tty1 linux (after installing mingetty, of course) and then add
    if [[ -z $DISPLAY && ! -e /tmp/.X11-unix/X0 ]] && (( EUID )); then
    exec startx
    fi
    or
    if [[ -z $DISPLAY && $(tty) = /dev/tty1 ]]; then
    exec startx
    fi
    to ~/.zprofile?
    Where I'm trying to get at here is should I automatically log in to tty7 or automatically log in to tty1 if startx automatically runs X on tty7?
    EDIT: Also, I'm assuming you'd comment out the x:5:respawn:/usr/bin/xdm -nodaemon line in /etc/inittab? Or does that only get run if you have #id:5:initdefault: uncommented?

  • [SOLVED] Start offlineimap as a daemon?

    I just installed offlineimap so I can use mutt to view IMAP email. How can I start it as a daemon so it automatically syncs email upon login? I found an rtorrent daemon script on the forum and just changed it to offlineimap, but it has a few problems.
    1. It does not work upon init. It works if I manually do /etc/rc.d/offlineimap start.
    2. It does not stop at all, regardless of how I do it - either manually or automatically.
    Anything I can do to get this working?

    Have to ask, as you didn't mention it - did you add it to the rc.conf DAEMONS array?
