[Solved]Sudo doesn't ask me for password .

Hi everyone, I've been playing around with my pam.d configuration files trying to configure my fingerprint reader, but I think I made a mistake and sudo doesn't ask me for my password anymore (nor for my fingerprint), it grants me permission automatically...
This is my /etc/pam.d/sudo file:
auth sufficient pam_fprint.so
auth required pam_unix.so try_first_pass nullok_secure
auth required pam_nologin.so
I've tried removing the "auth    sufficient    pam_fprint.so"  line and the "try_first_pass nullok_secure" but it doesn't work and I don't feel secure if it grants premissions so easily...
Anyone has a clue about what can be wrong? Thanks!

pointone wrote:Simply removing the pam_fprint.so line should bring you back close to default. However, your sudo timeout is probably still in effect, which is why you are still granted permissions without a password after making the change.
Yup, that was the problem >.< I thought the timeout didn't work when rebooting, but it does, so it's everything alright... Thanks to everyone anyway!

  • Is there a way to make the portal doesn't ask username and password

    Hello everyone,
i wonder that is there a way to make the portal doesn't ask username and password.
I mean when you open url :
    http://<portal_address>:50000/irj/portal
the user is granted according to his/her windows domain username.

    Hi Ali,
You can configure the Kerberos authentication for using integrated Windows authentication.
The Kerberos protocol is an integral part of the Windows 2000 operating system and enables Windows Integrated Authentication in a Windows Domain without an intermediary Web server.  <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/43/4bd58c6c5e5f34e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm">See the Link</a>

I have consolidate my folders related to the video I am in the progress of working on.  Premiere elements does not follow their new location.  How do I syn them back up all at once so premiere doesn't ask me for their location when I open the project

This is the Photoshop Elements forum, not the Premiere Elements forum, located here:
    https://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere_elements
When you open the project, it should ask you where the first file is located. After you tell it where it is, it should be able to find the rest of them if they are located near the first one.  Then save the file.  If you move the files again, you will have to relink them again.

  • I didn't set any password during setup of Lion, but now when I want to download stuff from safari, it asks me for password? plz help

I bought a new macbook air pre loaded with Lion. while setting up the system, I just input the user name, and didn't set any password.
But now when I wanna download stuff off safari, it asks me for password. The user name appears (the same one which I set) but it keeps on asking me the password which I never set. Can some one please help me. Thanks!

I did it like that, but for the purpose of not having to type my password every time since I'm installing a lot of programs, and yes, it asks for the password, but do not type anything and just click "ok" or "install", since you haven't set a password it should let you go through. I guess it asks for the "password" just to let you know it will install something, but just click ok.
I will set up a password once i have install everything in System Preferences/Users & Groups
    Hope it helps...

when you were install your cs3 you should have been prompted for you serial number.  were you?
if not, you probably didn't properly install cs3.  copying/migrating/moving etc is problematic.
if yes, did you see any error messages during installation?
if yes, attach a screenshot of the error message.

  • Changing a structure doesn't ask me for a change request

    Hi all,
i have a small issue, i'm trying to change the source structure of an infospoke but it doesn't ask me for any change request, it should because we never do this kind of changes directly in production environment but i do not know how to fix this now.
When i try to change it the only message i get is this:
    R3TR generated, changes possible
Then i can add new fields but when i save i don't get the chance to assign the object to any cr.
    Any idea?
    Thank you

    Hi Stefano,
As you have checked, the transport request never had the InfoProvider in it, $TMP suggests that the Infoset was never transported, because if it was transported, you would have had a Z<package> name and it would have asked you for a TR request before changing.
You now need to again go to the Transport connection and collect the InfoSource in a transport request. It will also ask you to change its package from $TMP to some Z<package> before creating a TR.
Please let me know if you need any more help.
    Regards,
    Pankaj

  • Mail keep asking me for passwords.  Like every 5 minutes

I recently, a couple of months at least, have had mail demand passwords when retrieving email. I go to preferences and put in passwords and save. 5 minutes later, it asks me for passwords again. I threw out the plist preference file and recreated all accounts inputing all passwords. Ten minutes later, it asks me for passwords, again. This is getting frustrating. I am using OS X 10.4.11 and mail 2.1.3 (753.1). I have rebuilt the directory (disk warrior), repaired permissions and fsck'ed several times. I have rebuilt the keychains and am now out of things to do. Any Help?

When you "rebuilt the keychain," did that entail selecting "keychain first aid" under the menubar in Keychain Access,or did that entail finding any and all entries related to the offending mail accounts in your keychain and deleting them outright? If you've only done one of these things, I'd try doing the other.
BTW, are you getting your mail after each manual entry of your password, or are you unable to retrieve your mail altogether? If you are not able to retrieve your mail, then I would wonder if your password, back at the server, somehow got changed?

  • Satellite A55-S1065 - After removing battery, BIOS ask me for password

So, something happened yesterday, and it seems to me that this is very odd.
I have a laptop Satellite A55-S1065. And while i was using power point, the
computer freezes. So in the middle of my confusion, i decided to remove
the battery just to make it turn off.
So i did it and the plugged it again
and tried to turn on the computer. Now the bios ask me for a password,
but i have no clue what password is that. Can someone help me to fix this?
Im really desperate to find some solution to this since this computer contain
    a lot of my works.
    Thank you so much.

    > After removing battery, BIOS ask me for password
I know it sounds stupid now but I never heard about something like this. I use notebook for long time and I have made experience with many different and strange issue but something like this, never.
Problem is that we discuss here in public forum and BIOS password is very sensible area and very important security feature so we cannot write here about some illegal ways how you can delete BIOS password.
If there is no way to start your notebook I recommend you to contact nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help.
    Sorry. :(

  • At setup wizard keeps asking me for password.....

At the setup wizard it keeps asking me for password. i have my internet connect to the router and iam able to get online from my comp. My issue is the password window i put my on password and it goes to checking computer settings and comes back to password and  i retype my password and samething.
    Please help Thanks

Yep, I had the same thing happening. Save settings at a certain spot, and it asks for a login/pass. The solution for me was to turn off my Norton Security entirely for a few minutes to change router settings. Now the Mac laptop and Nintendo DS all connect wireless.

  • [SOLVED]Gnome 3 doesnt ask me for sudo password

So, I'm a noob. I've installed Arch, everything went relatively well and I have a working Gnome 3 environment. However, when I type "sudo blablabla" (like "sudo pacman -S some_package") Gnome never asks me for a password, it just silently does what I say. Is that a bug or am I missing something? I have found nothing about that on the internets.
Also, when pacman asks me to choose several options am I supposed to type space delimited numbers? Like, "1 2 5 10 21". I tried to use comma as a delimiter and it said that's not a number. Found nothing about that in "man pacman".
Also, how can I know the real names of programs? Gnome installed something called "qt Assistant" and other stuff and I can't find it on my computer. I want to uninstall it. I seem to recall that the icons are .desktop files in some folder, do I have to check them all? Would something like "locate *.desktop >> desktop.txt" "cat desktop.txt | grep "*qtAssistant*" do the trick?
Sorry for being such a noob. I did some research on that. It's my third Linux distro and the previous ones, Ubuntu and Mint gave me way more trouble than they were worth. It's not Linux`s fault. It's just it is free, and nothing in life is free. I really want to learn that operating system, though.
Also, sorry for my poor English.
Thanks for your patience. Can someone help me?

skunktrader wrote:Are you logged in as root?
Of course I'm not - that's the problem And in fact Gnome doesn't give me an option to log in as a root. Maybe because root's home directory isn't in /home?
When I type commands without sudo, it doesn't execute them. Today I've typed "sudo !!" probably more then twenty times (have I mentioned I'm a noob?)
And it never asked for a password (exept at login).

  • I want to digit a different password, I deleted the previous one but it doesn't ask me for a new one. What should I do?

from Tools I went to menu Options, privacy, passwords and deleted that line.
I tried to check the mail from that account but it doesn't give me an error nor it asks me for a password.
    What should I do now?

Did you use the search/filter box in the Saved Passwords window to find ''all'' occurrences of your login and password? You may have not deleted the correct instance.

  • In hotel w/wireless network.  ATV finds network, but does not ask me for password, so can't communicate through network.  MacBook Air, iPad and 2 iPhones connected to hotel wireless, but ATV does not ask me for the password.  Any ideas?

I have succesfully connected a MacBook Air, an iPad and two iPhones to the wireless network in this hotel.  Apple TV can see the network and "connects" to the network, but w/o asking for password.  I expected to see a screen immediately after selecting the network that asked me for the password as did all of my other devices.  ATV did not ask me for a password.  When I go to Settings>General>Network, it shows the name of the hotel wireless network, but I can't communicate with the network.  It can't set date and time.  When I try to enter my Apple account name and password, it tells me it can't log in w/o setting date and time.
Any ideas on how to connect to this network?

I am having the same problem. In my hotel when I connect my laptop a screen will pop up and you have to hit the button "I Accept Terms". However I can't do that with the ATV. I called the internet provider and they said they could not help me. Any ideas? Do you think the guy just doesn't know what he can do for me? I am thinking I will call later and hope to get a different technician who might know how to help connect me.

  • Outlook 2011 for Mac keeps asking me for password

I had been using Windows Live Mail (pop 3) for years until last week; rarely, if ever had any problems downloading my mail.
I just bought a Mac computer and am using Outlook 2011 for Mac; my operating system is Maverick (if that means anything to anyone).
The BT tech guys suggested I set up my mail accounts as IMAP so that all mail read on the server syncs etc. with my Outlook. It all sounded great. However, ever since I installed Outlook for Mail it asks me for my password numerous times during the day (for each of my 5 email accounts)....it usually does this when the computer has been in sleep mode, i.e., when Outlook tries to download mail from the server.
Something else to mention is that whilst the BT tech guys set up my IMAP accounts with:
Incoming Port - 993 (requires SSL)
    Outgoing Port - 465 (requires SSL/TLS)
The BT Mail department (today) told me to revert back to 110 (outgoing)  and 25 (incoming) and to call the incoming and outgoing mail.btinternet.com instead of the smtp.........(I forget the rest of it now) that the tech guys set it up as.
I've since reverted the incoming and outgoing to mail.btinternet.com but haven't changed the numbers to 110 and 25 because the BT Mail guy said "if you are able to send/receive using the 993 and 465...just leave them. And I *am* able to send/receive. The problem is more the password prompt and the message "server not recognised" or whatever it says....I can't recall the exact words.
I phoned Apple and they of course say it is an Outlook problem; not an Apple one, though they did help me delete the mail settings in their keychain thingie so that I could put in my passwords again (all passwords are correct by the way).
Apple did ask, however if my internet service provider are happy for me to have mail set up as IMAP; she epxlained  that it really isn'y *my* choice; it's the server people's choice.
My questions are therefore: 1) who/what is my server? Is it BT? My email addresses are all btinternet.com and I'm also using BT Broadband for both home and my business/office.
I just don't understand why Outlook keeps prompting me for password so my second question is 2) does anyone know why I am being prompted for my password as often as I am? Does this have to do with IMAP settings? with Outlook? or with my Server? or possibly all of the above? and how does one identify the real issue?
    Many thanks!

    Hi Steve,
Thanks for this-yes, eventually, I do send/receive fine, once I've poppedd my passwords in.
I think you are right in that BT seem to be having unique server/login issues...at least this is what I've read elsewhere too.
Iroonically, this AM I opened my new Mac and have *not* been asked for passwords so perhaps the changes I made in the settings yesterday (keychain reset in Mac) and also changing it from smtp.....to mail.btinternet.com solved the issue...who knows? All I know is this last week I've nearly lost the will to live on more than one occasion, from the transition from PC Windows Live Mail to Outlook for Mac.
