Solved: Udev rules not working

I have file called "/etc/udev/rules.d/99-monitor-hotplug.rules" with this rule:
ACTION=="change", SUBSYSTEM=="drm", RUN+="/root/scripts/hotPlugMonitor.sh"
But hotPlugMonitor.sh-script is not ran even thought it has permission to be ran and
udevadm monitor --property
gives:

You got the command slightly wrong. See the right command:
udevadm control --reload
From:
$ udevadm control --help | grep reload
--reload reload rules and databases

  • [Solved] udev rule not working

    Hi!
    I'm trying to set my trackpoint sensitivity and speed using an udev rule:
    [jeroen@zechs ~]$ ls -l /etc/udev/rules.d/
    total 4
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 113 Sep 14 01:54 10-trackpoint.rules
    [jeroen@zechs ~]$ cat /etc/udev/rules.d/10-trackpoint.rules
    # Set trackpoint option
    KERNEL=="serio2", ATTR{speed}="180", ATTR{sensitivity}="255", RUN+="touch /tmp/udevtest"
    When I test the rule, everything seems to be working as planned:
    [jeroen@zechs ~]$ cat /sys/devices/platform/i8042/serio1/serio2/speed
    97
    [jeroen@zechs ~]$ cat /sys/devices/platform/i8042/serio1/serio2/sensitivity

    ls: cannot access /tmp/udevtest: No such file or directory
    So the rule runs fine when I do `udevadm test` but fails to run on boot or `udevadm trigger`
    Any hints or ideas, or probably some basic stuff I missed, to get this working?
    Thank you for reading this far!

    There is not much to go with.
    I'll try adding the 'description' attribute maybe.
    $ udevadm info -a -p /sys/devices/platform/i8042/serio1/serio2
    Udevadm info starts with the device specified by the devpath and then
    walks up the chain of parent devices. It prints for every device
    found, all possible attributes in the udev rules key format.
    A rule to match, can be composed by the attributes of the device
    and the attributes from one single parent device.
    looking at device '/devices/platform/i8042/serio1/serio2':
    KERNEL=="serio2"

  • UDev rules not working for MidiSport 2x2 usb midi device

    I installed arch a couple of months ago and am loving it so far.  Any problems I've had so far have already been solved in the forums, but this one's really got me.  I have a MidiSport 2x2 that I want the firmware to be loaded on everytime I plug it in.  I installed (there's not an arch package) a package that is supposed to do just that.  (It's called midisport-firmware-1.2.tar.gz).  However, the package seems to be out of date (2006) and I even had to modify a couple places in the configure script to get it to work with current program revisions.  However, once installed, it does nothing.  It installed firmware files and udev rules for the device into a couple of directories.  When I run the command that is supposed to load the firmware, it works fine.  But for some reason, (I even checked the udev kernel log) it's like the event isn't even being triggered.  Here's part of the original file that came with the package that's supposed to load the firmware:
    # midisport-firmware.rules - udev rules for loading firmware into MidiSport devices
    # DEVPATH=="/*.0" selects interface 0 only
    # (some udev versions don't work with SYSFS{bInterfaceNumber})
    # MidiSport 2x2
    ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", DEVPATH=="/*.0", ENV{PRODUCT}=="763/1001/*", RUN+="/sbin/fxload -s /usr/local/share/usb/maudio/MidiSportLoader.ihx -I /usr/local/share/usb/maudio/MidiSport2x2.ihx"
    # vim: ft=conf
    And here's what I modified it to in an attempt to make it work:
    # MidiSport 2x2
    ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTR{idVendor}=="0763", ATTR{idProduct}=="1001", RUN+="/sbin/fxload -D /dev/%k -s /usr/local/share/usb/maudio/MidiSportLoader.ihx -I /usr/local/share/usb/maudio/MidiSport2x2.ihx"
    I would really appreciate help from anyone who knows about this kind of thing, as I can't figure out what's going wrong.  If it's something wrong with the config, please let me know.  Actually, some HAL events popped up when I was testing this out.  Is it possible HAL is blocking  the udev event somehow?

    Hi,
    The firmware files must be put in /lib/firmware so they can be found by the kernel. Are they being put there?

  • Defaulting Rules Not Working for Repair Orders in OM?

    Hi,
    Defaulting Rules have been setup for return line & standard line based on few conditions and it is working fine if we create a sales order directly from OM (Manual SO)?
    But in our project we are using  Depot Repair(Repair Orders), we tried to create a service request and then converted to a sales order here defaulting rules not working for repair orders?
    Please help me to solve this issue ASAP.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    You have like this:
    1. Price list
    2.OE_DEFAULT_PVT.Get_SOB_Currency_Code
    You have to make
    1. XXOE_DEFAULT_PVT.custom_code
    2. Price list
    3.OE_DEFAULT_PVT.Get_SOB_Currency_Code
    Did you made own custom code to pick currency?

  • Infopath form load rule not working in browser forms but works on Client

    Hi
    I am working on an Infopath form and there are rules on form load. The form load checks for a value in a list, if the username() matches the one in the list, then the form would change its view.
    It works when I open it on client, but on the browser it fails.
    Have anyone encountered such an issue.

    Check below:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/16222681/infopath-rule-is-not-running-when-checking-sharepoint-list-field-value
    Ensure that "Include data for the active form only" was checked (I had to separate this field into another data connection because that box could not be checked for another field I was using), and
    Ensure that in the rule I was selecting from the "dataFields" folder under the data connection instead of "queryFields"
    http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/28554/infopath-form-load-rules-not-working
    if I edit the Infopath form on Infopath 2007, it seems that the rules for the load form will be visible if created.
    This look like a bug. Here are the steps below that will lead you to the bug:
    Step 1: Open the infopath form in Infopath 2010 and create 6 rules for Form Load and Save it as a file.
    Step 2: Open that infopath form that you created in Step 1 in InfoPath 2010 and go to the
    Form Load section. You will only see the first 5 rules. The 6th rules that you created for Step 1 will just "vanish". Now, close that infopath form.
    Step 3: Open that infopath form that you created in step 1 in InfoPath 2007 and select Tools > Form Option. In the
    Open and Save category, click the Rules button and add a new rule in it and save it.
    Step 4: Open that infopath form that you modify as describe in Step 3 in InfoPath 2010. That 6th rule will be visible.
    Therefore, there might be a bug in InfoPath 2010 that restrict Rules to a max of 5 in Form Load and thus if anyone open that form in SharePoint, only the first 5 rules will be executed.
    If this helped you resolve your issue, please mark it Answered

  • [SOLVED] udev rule no longer working

    I have a udev rule set up to automatically mount an ext4 filesystem when I plug a certain thumb drive in.  It was working fine until yesterday (probably due to updates).  Here is the rule, in file /etc/udev/rules.d/99-gfk.rules:
    KERNEL=="sd?2", SUBSYSTEM=="block", ATTRS{idVendor}=="0930", ATTRS{idProduct}=="6545", ATTRS{serial}=="1C6F654E4041ED601910053F", SYMLINK+="gfshare"
    ACTION=="add", KERNEL=="sd?2", SUBSYSTEM=="block", ATTRS{idVendor}=="0930", ATTRS{idProduct}=="6545", ATTRS{serial}=="1C6F654E4041ED601910053F", RUN+="/bin/mkdir /media/gfshare"
    ACTION=="add", KERNEL=="sd?2", SUBSYSTEM=="block", ATTRS{idVendor}=="0930", ATTRS{idProduct}=="6545", ATTRS{serial}=="1C6F654E4041ED601910053F", RUN+="/bin/mount -t ext4 -o ro,nosuid,nodev,noexec,noatime /dev/gfshare /media/gfshare"
    The symlink and the mkdir command are both working fine, but the mount command is not being run for some reason.  If I manually run the mount command it works fine.  Some possibly helpful output:
    # pacman -Qo $(which udevadm)
    /usr/bin/udevadm is owned by systemd 212-1
    # dmesg |tail -16

    I see.  That is somewhat aggravating but I will find another way to achieve what I wanted I suppose.
    Thank you.  Should I mark this is solved or unsolvable or something?  Sorry, I'm new to posting on these forums.
    Edit:  I was able to achieve what I wanted with udevil as recommended by the wiki.

  • [SOLVED] Custom udev rule only working when triggered manually

    I have the following rule created for a USB gamecube controller adapter:
    SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="057e", ATTRS{idProduct}=="0337", MODE="0666"
    This rule only takes effect when I run udevadm trigger AFTER my device is plugged in. If I then unplug the device, and plug it back in, my device no longer works. My device also doesn't work on boot. I have to plug my device in and then trigger the rules manually.
    Any ideas why this is happening? I don't want to have to run udevadm trigger every time I turn my computer on.
    Last edited by Exershio (2015-04-15 23:01:19)

    I tried reloading the configuration but it doesn't affect the issue. As for monitoring udev, this appears when I plug the device in:
    KERNEL[3439.476646] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:12.0/usb4/4-5 (usb)
    KERNEL[3439.478441] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:12.0/usb4/4-5/4-5:1.0 (usb)
    KERNEL[3439.486155] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:12.0/usb4/4-5/4-5:1.0/0003:057E:0337.0009 (hid)
    KERNEL[3439.492319] add /class/usbmisc (class)
    KERNEL[3439.492497] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:12.0/usb4/4-5/4-5:1.0/usbmisc/hiddev0 (usbmisc)
    KERNEL[3439.492602] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:12.0/usb4/4-5/4-5:1.0/0003:057E:0337.0009/hidraw/hidraw0 (hidraw)
    UDEV [3439.493842] add /class/usbmisc (class)
    UDEV [3439.494832] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:12.0/usb4/4-5 (usb)
    UDEV [3439.496365] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:12.0/usb4/4-5/4-5:1.0 (usb)
    UDEV [3439.498256] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:12.0/usb4/4-5/4-5:1.0/usbmisc/hiddev0 (usbmisc)
    UDEV [3439.498378] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:12.0/usb4/4-5/4-5:1.0/0003:057E:0337.0009 (hid)
    UDEV [3439.499567] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:12.0/usb4/4-5/4-5:1.0/0003:057E:0337.0009/hidraw/hidraw0 (hidraw)
    So it seems udev is detecting the GC adapter being plugged in, but it doesn't apply permissions 0666 to it until I manually run udevadm trigger.
    See what happens below, directly after plugging it in:
    $ ls -l /dev/bus/usb/004/005
    crw-rw-r-- 1 root root 189, 388 Apr 15 16:59 /dev/bus/usb/004/005
    $ sudo udevadm trigger
    $ ls -l /dev/bus/usb/004/005
    crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 189, 388 Apr 15 17:03 /dev/bus/usb/004/005
    Okay this is weird. So I appended my udev rule with GROUP="users" to see if that would help, and after reloading the rules, this happens after my device is plugged in:
    $ ls -l /dev/bus/usb/004/005
    crw-rw-r-- 1 root users 189, 393 Apr 15 17:32 /dev/bus/usb/004/005
    $ sudo udevadm trigger
    $ ls -l /dev/bus/usb/004/005
    crw-rw-rw- 1 root users 189, 393 Apr 15 17:34 /dev/bus/usb/004/005
    So it appears the device is taking on GROUP="users" immediately after being plugged in, but it wont set MODE="0666" until after running udevadm trigger
    Anyone have any ideas?

  • Udev rules not applied during bootup

    I don't know if this problem is associated with the lates kernel-upgrade to 2.6.21 but I didn't have it before.
    My problem:
    I have an external USB-harddrive that gets mounted everytime I boot because it is listed in my fstab. To avoid confusion with other external storages (such as USB-sticks etc.) I worte an udev rule for it:
    # Externe USB-Festplatte von TrekStor
    BUS=="usb", KERNEL=="sd?1" SYSFS{serial}=="307541703010",SYMLINK+="externe"
    As I've said this worked well before but now I get a message during the booting process saying that /dev/externe couldn't be found. But it actually IS recognised by udev. I just have to do a
    mount -a
    after the booting process and everything works again.
    Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be? It seems to me that all the devices listed in fstab get mounted before the udev rules are applied.

    Ok, I solved my problem: I'm not mounting my USB-HD through fstab anymore. I'm using udev-rules as described here.
    Still I'd be interesting to know what went wrong.

  • [SOLVED] udev rule launch graphical app

    How can I make a udev rule launch a graphical application, like, for instance, feh?
    I've tried creating a rule detects when a specific mass storage device is connected and executes a script (/root/.scripts/feh-camera.sh). The script exports DISPLAY and XAUTHORITY and everything seems to work.
    However when I restarted a black screen appeared right after Loading Modules (that appears after Starting udev events). Removing the udev rule solved the problem, so I must be doing something wrong.
    What's the right way of doing this?
    Thanks in advance.

    Device was not connected at boot but I'll try what you suggested anyway. Thanks for your help.
    EDIT:
    It's solved. It turns out the underlying problem was that exporting DISPLAY breaks the udev environment. For future reference solved it with:
    45-foobar.rules
    ATTRS{product}=="DSLR-A330", ATTR{removable}=="1", ENV{REMOVE_CMD}="/bin/umount /media/camera", RUN+="/bin/mount <bla bla>", RUN+="/bin/su vieira -c '/etc/udev/rules.d/45-foobar.sh'"
    and the script, where the problem was, must not export anything, just set inline, i.e.
    #!/bin/sh
    HOME=/home/vieira DISPLAY=:0 /usr/bin/feh -r /mnt/camera

  • [SOLVED] Any USB not working.

    Hi,
    I have a very annoying problem. On my arch didn't work any USB device or SDcard reader or WebCam.
    (i try live distribution and on that it works so it isnt a HW problem)
    Example: i add my optical USB mouse, but nothing happend even the light on the bottom of the mouse didn't work same think with my phone or pendrives with LED indication, It's looks like in the USB drive isn't voltage. (i can't find anything usable in logs) But if i add USB device before system start it works (not always).
    I try to edit UDEV rules and dbus rules and all other rules what could be helpfull :) but nothing works (for now i could have a nice mess in rules).
    //It must be magic but after i wrote this massage it's start working :D I really try to solve this problem for last month. (So keep this topic becouse theres could be some mistical relation between this topis and my notebok)
    For now major problem with USB is gone and new problem with the rules  appears :(
    Rejected send message, 1 matched rules; type="method_call", sender=":1.27" (uid=1000 pid=1911 comm="exo-mount) interface="org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume" member="Mount" error name="(unset)" requested_reply=0 destination="org.freedesktop.Hal" (uid=0 pid=1809 comm="/usr/sbin/hald)).
    ha, i am stupid solved by adding "dbus-launch --exit-with-session" before my "ck-launch-session pekwm"

    When you copy 10-evdev.conf file into /etc/X11 you completly override previous system configuration. It's the reason copying synaptics configuration file into /etc/X11 fixes the issue
    Defining default system configuration in /etc/X11 with previous xorg was a mistake, now it's fixed.
    Wiki should be fixed. It's not a packaging bug, but a configuration bug.
    @lordheavy
    I agree with you that the new xf86-input-synaptics package is using the right configuration scheme, however it is breaking the functionality on every installed system. It was a packaging bug, which is now fixed, but it has to be handled manually by most users of previous versions. That's why I won't re-open the bug report FS#41589. Instead, I am asking here: shouldn't this change be notified to the users just like it has been done for most breaking changes on archlinux frontpage news?
    By the way, thanks for your great work.

  • [solved] udev-rules for bluetooth PCMCIA

    My plan:
    get my bluetooth-PCMCIA card to work:
    CONCEPTONIC CBT100C
    Problem:
    I have to issue the following command for it to work:
    #hciattach ttyS0 bcsp
    Therefor I wrote following udev-rule that doesn't work:
    ##/etc/udev/rules.d/05-bluez-pcmcia-support.rules
    SUBSYSTEMS=="pcmcia", ATTRS{prod_id2}=="Bluetooth Card", RUN+="/usr/sbin/hciattach ttyS0 bcsp"
    My Question:
    Could someone explain to me why this rule does not work?

    I called it
    05-bluez-pcmcia-support.rules
    I rebooted but still no success.
    I also tried this:
    ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEMS=="pcmcia", ATTRS{prod_id2}=="Bluetooth Card", RUN+="aplay /usr/share/sounds/phone.wav"
    But still no success

  • [SOLVED] udev-rules

    My plan is to write a udev-rule that automatically starts a backup script as soon as I plugin a specific usb-harddrive.
    For testing purposes I'm trying to run /usr/bin/gedit and create the symlink /dev/backup-drive
    here's my rule:
    ## /etc/udev/rules.d/95-backup.rules
    SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{serial}=="100", SYMLINK="backup_drive", RUN+="/usr/bin/gedit"
    The symlink works fine.  However, gedit does not start.
    What am I missing?

    here some more information:
    # udevinfo -a -p $(udevinfo -q path -n /dev/sdb)
    Udevinfo starts with the device specified by the devpath and then
    walks up the chain of parent devices. It prints for every device
    found, all possible attributes in the udev rules key format.
    A rule to match, can be composed by the attributes of the device
    and the attributes from one single parent device.

  • [SOLVED] udev rules for U2F FIDO Plug-up key

    I just received a cheap U2F FIDO key (http://www.amazon.com/Plug-up-Internati … 00OGPO3ZS/) but couldn't use it under Chrome 38. I had to add the following rule to /etc/udev/rules.d/45-u2f.rules
    SUBSYSTEM=="hidraw", MODE="0666", ATTRS{idVendor}=="2581", ATTRS{idProduct}=="f1d0"
    and then issued a
    # sudo udevadm trigger
    Should work with other vendors assuming you change the idVendor and idProduct.
    Have fun!

    LukeHandle wrote:Was thinking about the same device, what are you thoughts on it so far? I was mostly concerned with the price and how that translated to the quality, or lack thereof.
    The device for which I sent a link for is cheap one and when you receive it actually looks cheap but does the job. Initially I thought I needed to install the FIDO U2F Chrome extension https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta … ionmgcdmne but it works just fine without it assuming you are using Chrome or Chromium 38+ and the above udev rule on ArchLinux (not required on Windows and MAC OS).
    Use case is fairly limited so far since it can only be used on Google account. I tried to use this Plug-Up U2F dongle on Yubico U2F demo page http://demo.yubico.com/start/u2f/neo but it doesn't work and thus even with the FIDO U2F Chrome extension...Weird since I thought all U2F will all be compatible. Since the protocol is open I hope other use cases will arise such as more major supported websites, easy integration in existing frameworks such as Wordpress, Roundcube... but also alternative uses such as 2nd factor authentication for disk encryption (LUKS).
