[SOLVED]Ugly menu in Libreoffice-fresh on archlinux kde

How disable kde4 menu integration in Libreoffice-fresh?
Last edited by Viterzgir (2014-11-15 12:36:05)

I have installed libreoffice-still without libreoffice-still-kde4. With libreoffice-still-kde4 menu was terrible looking. Today I installed libreoffice -fresh and don't know how disable kde integration.

  • Libreoffice-fresh = black gui, libreoffice-still = normal [SOLVED]

    Hi,
my libreoffice-fresh suddenly became black. The paper and its background is still white, everything at the toolbars is black. I made no changes or updates right before the issue came up. Already reinstalled it – still black. Themes in settings are at "standard".
Right now I installed libreoffice-still and its back to normal.
Already tried to google it, but it seems to be not a common bug.
    Anyone has the same problem?

Try running libre with a standard light theme:
    GTK2_RC_FILES=/usr/share/themes/MurrinaCrystal/gtk-2.0/gtkrc libreoffice
for example (you can replace MurrinaCrystal with a different theme). See if that makes aa difference.
To be honest, after countless problems with LO and my dark theme, I always run LO with a light theme, now.

  • Libreoffice-fresh kde4 appearance hover mouse

    Hi there,
I recently made the switch to a kde4 desktop.
I have arch linux running on a 64 bit machine with java  openjdk 8 and libreoffice-fresh
I never had this problem on arch with GNOME3 but it seems now that I can no longer see which menu item I am hovering over as the hovered menu Item is not highlighted. The global menus as well as the right click / context menus are affected by this.
Forcing libreoffice to use gnome via an exporrted environment variable as indicated in the wiki, does not seem to resolve the problem either.
I dont know what the missing ingredient is here. It makes the application cumbersome to work with.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Solved : Libreoffice only supports the oxygen theme. I was using breeze.

  • [solved] icu, firefox and libreoffice woes

Don't know if this should be reported as a bug, but...
I updated firefox, which wouldn't start because of a icu dependency.
Updated icu, and nss, which showed as the next dependency.
Libreoffice then wouldn't start because it couldn't find the right version of libicuuc (sorry I don't remember which)
So I upgraded libreoffice to libreoffice-fresh.
It said: /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libicuuc.so.53: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Checked the version of libicuuc.so which is installed - it's 54.
I'm hoping the packages are just out of sync and if I try again in a day or two it will work...
If this is not the case, any suggestions, anyone?
    TIA

  • KDE Ugly menu bar/ecliipse/chromium

I've recently switched from GNOME to KDE and it's been really great.  I've played around with all the settings but there's on thing that still nags me.  Every now and then I encounter an application or some aspect of an application that looks... ugly.  Ugly as in, black text on grey background (like MS 95).  Examples of this include Eclipse, and right-clicking a page in chromium.
    Here's an example with Eclipse:
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/54825724@N … /lightbox/
It's not a deal-breaker but It would be nice if someone knew why this happens and how I can fix it.
    Cheers!

No problem   Here's the Arch-wiki page describing how to go both GTK -> Qt and Qt -> GTK, for reference: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Uni … plications

However, as soon as I change gui style to gtk in qtconfig, all cyrillic input becomes ugly (see pic http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/44 … 9scu.png/) whaver font I try.

    oh so fast!
just solved it, you should select Dejavu Sans (book) in lxappearance for all gtk apps, this font seems to work ok with cyrillic in all qt applications.

  • [SOLVED] Pacman is broken on fresh installation

I've just performed a fresh installation that seemed to go fine, following the Official Arch Linux Install Guide.  However, I get the following during my first login:
    Arch Linux 2.6.39-ARCH (myhost) (tty1)
    myhost login: root
    Password:
    [root@myhost ~]# pacman -Sy

error: failed to init transaction (database is incorrect version)
    try running pacman-db-upgrade
    error: transaction already initiated

I realize the error recommends that I run pacman-db-upgrade, but it seems very out-of-the-ordinary to encounter this error after having installed fresh with all default options.  Could someone give me a hand?

What exactly do you mean by "failing"? Please post the errors you get.
But first, grab a fresh mirrorlist http://www.archlinux.org/mirrorlist/ and try to update again.
I agree with picking an updated mirror. If packages are "failing," then the mirrors may be out of sync. Also, the list of mirrors included on the ISO CD may be out of date.

  • [SOLVED] Unable to download Libreoffice.

    Hello all,
I've been trying to download and install libreoffice by running "pacman -S libreoffice" but I am repeatedly getting an error message saying "error: 'libreoffice': could not find or read package". • Fastest way to get libreoffice betas on archlinux?

    hi,
I noticed that the libreoffice 3.6 series will have a feature that would enormously simplify some work i have to do. So my question is, assuming that i don't want to compile the whole libreoffice, what's the fastest way to instal libreoffice 3.6 betas on archlinux?
Is there some unstable repository that i'm not aware of? Or a way to install deb or rpm packages? Or anything I completely ignore?
    thanks

I may be missing something, but aren't a lot of these suggestions ignoring the OP's main question: is there somewhere to get it WITHOUT compiling from source.  All these options would require compiling.  That said, the OP probably should do his own search.  Here are a couple of freebies:
You could check through the unofficial repos to see if any of them have it.
Otherwise it is possible to convert a deb and/or rpm.  See here for an example.

  • [SOLVED] Ugly fonts :/

    Hi,
I dont know why did this happen. I'm a Gnome user and I wanted to take a look on KDE, so I've instaled KDEmod. I didn't have polish language charecters, so I wantet to change the font in KDE (using KDE Settings Tool) while I was switching through fonts and font's options - antialiasing, suddenly the fonts changed to ugly! I logged back to Gnome and its the same! I dont know what happened. When I delete the ~/.gconf I have the same problem, changing fonts in gnome-control-center doesnt help as all fonts there look ugly:
    http://matchil.hopto.org/fonts.png
I've deleted the ~/.kde and even ~/.qt but its still the same. I have no idea what is responsible fot this? X11? Or maybe its some update error (I doubt it thou). Please help me as I am freaking out withi this fonts, I want me nice fonts back .
    SOLUTION: rm -f ~/.fonts.conf

I've tried, but fc-cache -vf seems to rebuild the font cache, I've logged in to OpenBox and fonts in OB menu and in OB windows bars looks ok, but the one using gtk/qt no . I dont even know with which config files or setting should I mess with
I've also added a brand new user. I made him start gnome-session -> he has brilant fonts ! So its something in my home dir

  • Fresh install ArchLinux WiFi not showing (icon)

Don't know whether this is a specific ArchLinux or Cinnamon issue but I'm new to Arch and decided to install (step- by step):
    - ArchLinux
    - SLiM
    - CInnamon
Everything is working correctly, I'm a really happy man now, except for a few little thing(s)
When I boot my laptop I don't see the WiFi-icon like I was used to on Cinnarch/ArchBang etc. When I plugin the ethernet cable I do have internet, and also when I do: #sudo wifi-menu I can select my connection (WiFi) and enter my WPA(2)-key > works. Thought it must be something that I forgot to install (and checked the Wiki) but as far as I can see I did it correctly (network-manager, network-manager-applet, cdr). I even (re?)added my user account to the group network/audio (because my volume button will not stick either).

I don't quite understand what is going on here.  You say that you don't have an "icon" in the first post, but then in the third post you say that you can see that network manager is active because it is green.  What is green?
Also, in the first post you seem to partially indicate that you are using network manager, and partially that you are using netctl.  There two things will conflict with each other of you are trying to use both.  You can only use one thing at a time.  So if you previously enabled something like [email protected] and then started using wifi-menu, and then set up NetworkManager.service, and didn't disable/stop the others as you go along, you are undoubtedly going to run into issues.

  • [solved] All menu items lost from LXDE menus

I had problems with loading a USB flash drive, and music cd, and then X windows locked up completely, which led me to deinstall LXDE as well as the applications in an effort to get X windows working.  It turned out that all that was wrong was that dbus and hal hadn't been started after a reboot, so then I reinstalled LXDE and the applications, but now there is nothing on the LXDE menu except RUN and Logout.
How do I get things on an LXDE menu or is there another gui that is able to build a menu from what exists?  I had hoped to run LXDE, but it looks pretty hopeless with no menus at this point...
    Thanks for any clues

He's talking about the "start" menu, not app launchers.
From what I understand, LXDE sets up its menu based on files in /etc/xdg/menus and /usr/share/applications.
    Currently, I have applications.menu, lxde-applications.menu, lxlauncher-applictaions.menu, and settings.menu in /etc/xdg/menus.
The lxde-applications.menu controls the layout of the menu, adding programs based on the .desktop files in /usr/share/applications.
