[Solved] Unable to start Apache
Hi All,
I install Apache with "sudo pacman -S apache"but "sudo systemctl start httpd.service" failed and "sudo systemctl status httpd.service" showed:
httpd.service - Apache Web Server
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/httpd.service; disabled)

Dec 16 03:36:39 ArchCustom systemd[1]: Unit httpd.service entered failed state
Warning: Unit file changed on disk, 'systemctl --system daemon-reload' recommended.
Then I went to /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf and changed "#ServerName www.example.com:80" to "ServerName 192.168.4.19:80" (later I changed to "ServerName localhost:80", but it didn't work either). Now the systemctl status showed:
httpd.service - Apache Web Server

Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Sun, 2012-12-16 03:39:50 EST; 3s ago

What should I do next?
Thanks.

This is the easiest answer to give for my question "What should I do next?" Yes, I already read the wiki. Apache run successfully without any modification 3 - 4 times for me in the past. Now I install a new machine and it doesn't work this time.
kaipee wrote:@dxxvi I have also been having issues with apache since I moved to systemd at the weekend.
Fortunately for me I installed my machine when systemd was already there. This is my /usr/lib/systemd/system/httpd.service
[Unit]
Description=Apache Web Server
After=network.target remote-fs.target nss-lookup.target
[Service]
Type=forking
PIDFile=/run/httpd/httpd.pid
ExecStart=/usr/sbin/apachectl start
ExecStop=/usr/sbin/apachectl graceful-stop
ExecReload=/usr/sbin/apachectl graceful
PrivateTmp=true
LimitNOFILE=infinity
[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target
and in my system /var/run is sym-linked to /run. And by the way, why is the location for the pid file important? I think we can put the pid file anywhere, right?
/usr/sbin/apachectl configtest says my httpd.conf is fine. However /usr/sbin/apachectl start exits with the status of 1.

Hai,
I am using WindowsNT. When i tried to create an item of image type Dr.Watson error appeared showing that an error has appeared on the Apache server. After that i couldn't start the server. When i tried to start the server on the command line it said some files are missing which are mention in the htpd.conf file. The irony is those files are present in the system. I don't know wether it could be because of PATH settings. I haven't altered the default path settings which included the directory for Apache server.
regards,
MathanA handy (and free) tool for checking out these kinds of errors is filemon, available at www.sysinternals.com

[solved] Unable to start x, gma500.
Hello arch users.
This might be a wall with text...
Today i instaled arch for the first time, and on an SD card sitting inside a 1101ha.
The excelent ARCH wiki guided me with perfection towards my goals up to one problem where i had to zero byte
the SD card using dd because somehow 'overlapping' partition tables kept bugging me out and cfdisk did not solve it for
one second. All things well, it got installed with practical ease (ty arch wiki manual).
After all that i install the x server acording to the wiki, slim, and openbox. But to my horror X fails with error(1) and
Xorg -configure ends with error(2). After diving into the wiki, googling, reading the forum topics concerning x
errors i end up with confusion. the wiki claims modern X configures itself so i went with it.
-> everything got pulled in by pacman.
-> # lsmod | grep gma ; shows exactly what it should and as seen in the wiki.
-> xorg log as root directly after booting contains as last lines ;

missing output drivers. configuration failed.
Does the use of the kernel based gma500 driver need more then autoconfiguring or did i obliviously miss a giant configuration
that needs to be added. no matter how much i read the wiki at this point, i just do not see it anymore....
Appended ; I still had to copy this to an usb to get it to the forum.
This is the Xorg log created after attempting to run x by means of startx, as mentioned above i went with the defaults and
auto configuration, while using the gma500 kernel driver. this is probably a more useful dump of a log then the few lines
from straight after booting.

Last edited by exidux (2014-09-19 18:13:18)Maybe i am confusing the gma500 kernel module driver with something it is not, or the autoconfig cant work with it...
But no matter how it could be turned, i am not well versed in this area of setting up or using a linux distro.
After letting it sink in that the log complained about not finding any module to use as a driver, and reading the wiki again
after some rest (all-nighter, no sleep) ;
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/poulsbo
Modesetting driver and dual monitor Setup
To setup different resolution for external monitor using xrandr, xf86-video-modesetting from official repo is needed. If you choose to use the git package (xf86-video-modesetting-git), remember to recompile it after a new version of Xorg. After installing, an Xorg file is needed to setup the driver. Use this for device section:
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-gpudriver.conf
Section "Device"
Identifier "gma500_gfx"
Driver "modesetting"
Option "SWCursor" "ON"
EndSection
# pacman -S xf86-video-modesetting
# reboot
It boots into a functional Slim which then starts a functional (but featureless default) openbox WM.
My mind got stuck on thinking about the gma500 kernel module as a standalone driver...
~ the great wiki saved it. -
Hi group,
I have applied patch 12.1.2 and followed some steps to configure SOA Gateway and after that I am unable to start Apache Server.
I have enabled "debug" option in opmn.xml file as follow:
<debug path="F:\ORAEBS_APPS\inst\apps\EBSTEST_srvoracle05\logs\ora\10.1.3\opmn\opmn.dbg" comp="internal;ons;pm" rotation-size="1500000" rotation-hour="0" />
But nothing is created in opmn.dbg file.
Service is started in Windows, but when I try to query it, it displays as follow:
F:\ORAEBS_APPS\inst\apps\EBSTEST_srvoracle05\admin\scripts>adopmnctl.cmd start
Thu 05/13/2010 01:15 PM

Any advice or help will be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Kind regards,
Francisco Mtz. OviedoHussein,
I don't get any error when I stop and start using Services Windows.
You know, file opmn.dbg is empty and there is no file opmn.log at F:\ORAEBS_APPS\inst\apps\EBSTEST_srvoracle05\logs\ora\10.1.3\opmn
I am able to run AutoConfig without any problem.
This is what I am getting when I try to use command mode:

Problem starting apache web server [SOLVED]
when i start apache manually (sudo /etc/rc.d/./httpd start) i just get a fail, but when i start it through webmin i get the following:
stty: standard input: Inappropriate ioctl for device
Can someone tell me how i can fix this, or if it is too hard to fix, give me the name of the next best http server available?i had problems with apache too, but then i just did some changes:
in httpd.conf i changed user from nobody to httpd;
then added to system user httpd via adduser httpd in group nobody and it worked well -
[SOLVED] Terminator stopped working Unable to start shell:/bin/bash
Hello,
I just wanted to share as I didn't found anything about it,
Since yesterday I can't launch my favorite terminal emulator which is terminator, it gives me :
Unable to start shell:/bin/bash
displayed in terminator window where I'm supposed to type commands.
What is strange is that I can launch /bin/bash in tty's plus I installed xterm temporarily which works fine with bash.
One more thing is that if I close terminator window it closes my graphical session !
Any idea to troubleshoot this ?

Additional info:
I have connected 2 PCs with LAN (Ethernet) cable and want configure them for exchanging files. Both running Arch Linux. I am following the Network Configuration wiki page from the beginning. Didn't have luck with DHCP/dynamic IP, so trying Static IP this time. Restarting the pc with network.service enabled results in same error (in systemctl --failed). Same error message on both PCs.
Trying to run ExecStart lines one by one:
$ sudo /sbin/ip link set dev lan up
$ sudo /sbin/ip addr add 192.168.1.2/24 dev lan
RTNETLINK answers: File exists
$ sudo /sbin/ip route add default via 192.168.1.1
RTNETLINK answers: File exists
Does this mean there already is IP address and route assigned? If so, how to find out which service has done that? Do I need to remove it? Am I following the right wiki page (didn't find another)?
What am I doing wrong and how can I correct this error? / Point me in right direction.

have you checked if the network file exists?
Oh thanks, that line was causing problems! Now I do have network.service(s) running on both PC's with this content:
[Unit]
Description=Connect to my desktop/laptop
Wants=network.target
Before=network.target
BindsTo=sys-subsystem-net-devices-lan.device

ExecStart=/sbin/ip route add default via 192.168.1.1
ExecStop=/sbin/ip addr flush dev lan
ExecStop=/sbin/ip link set dev lan down
[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target
I don't get any errors, and this is network's status (on both PCs) when cable is connected
$ sudo systemctl restart network
$ systemctl status network
network.service - Connect to my desktop
Loaded: loaded (/etc/systemd/system/network.service; disabled)
Active: active (exited) since Thu 2013-04-04 22:43:22 AMT; 8s ago
Process: 9761 ExecStop=/sbin/ip link set dev lan down (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
Process: 9757 ExecStop=/sbin/ip addr flush dev lan (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)

Process: 9764 ExecStart=/sbin/ip link set dev lan up (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
And here wiki page is no more help. How can I test connection?
I try to ping, and it works on both machines (if it's the right thing to test?)
$ ping -c3 192.168.1.2

I tried starting the server from the console as well as from command prompt. Here I am giving the command below.
nohup ./startManagedWebLogic.sh bi_server1 t3://machineIP:portNo > bis1_startup.log &
But each time I got the same exception.

BOFC Unable to start the data source
Hi there,
i've done a standalone install using SQL 2008 R2 express. But i'm unable to start the data source and get this error:
Failed to start data source
Failed to start server instances on machine DELL1.
Failed to initialize server configured on machine DELL1.
Class not registered
Thanks,
AneesOk, problem solved.
I had to create a seperate DCOM user and assign it to the following roles in windows:
log on as a batch job
log on as a service
then assign this DCOM user to the Ctbroker and CTserver. As i'm not running this on a domain, there was no need to use 'packet level authentication'. So i set the authentication level to none.
There was no need to use the web based admin interface. Ctadmin.msc worked perfectly.
Thanks,

Hi,
I just installed Visual Studio and when I launch it, the following error pops up: "The Application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application". I tried searching online but no usable results. Please help!
jdHi,
There is not enough information about the problem. For troubleshooting, I recommend you can use Process Monitor to detect whether there's any process failed.
You can download Process Monitor and see how to use it for troubleshooting in below links:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939896
http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2007/06/01/troubleshooting-with-process-monitor.aspx
There are a lot of log entries in Process Monitor, you may filter Visual Studio process only(proces = devenv.exe). And you can upload the logs to OneDrive so that we can investigate them.
Also, you can refer to Gfazil's post in
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/96035692-9a50-40d4-a7d3-48bda87d11ec/the-application-was-unable-to-start-correctly-0xc000007b-click-ok-to-close-the-application-when?forum=vssetup
Please try the method he mentioned to see whether the problem can occur:
" Replacing the dlls mentioned below from a machine that is working solves the problem:
c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msvcp100.dll
c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msvcp100d.dll
c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msvcr100.dll
c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msvcr100_clr0400.dll
c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msvcr100d.dll "
Best Wishes!

I have a Dell All-in-One that I had to send in for a new motherboard. While they had it, I had them reformat it. I'm trying to put Skype back on it, but I keep getting this error message after it downloads and when it tries to install: "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application." I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. None of my other programs that I've had to reinstall have caused me a bit of trouble, but Skype will not move past this error message. Any help would be appreciated.
Solved!
Go to Solution.Open Windows Event Viewer -> Custom Views -> Administrative Events. Look for the recent error messages with timestamp corresponding to Skype crash. Copy and paste here the text from the General tab.
