[SOLVED] Vilidia Not Launching Browser

Hello
I have recently installed tor and privoxy and after using this as the config file [https://trac.torproject.org/projects/to … voxyConfig] I still can't get it to start.
I have used
sudo /etc/rc.d/tor start
I have tried from systemd as well. Maybe I'm in the wrong directory? I have tried from /usr/sbin specifically.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
[EDIT] After Installing tor browser bundle I was able to connect to tor but the browser did not launch, I also checked with check.torproject and it said I am not using tor. Please see bottom post.

  • SOLVED:Dmenu not launching correctly in Xmonad

I am running xmonad and I am having issues getting the dmenu_run to execute properly. It was working fine before but now it just launches with a white bar and nothing autocompletes. I am running Xmonad 0.9.2-2.1 and dmenu 4.4-1. Here is my entry in xmonad.hs:
    , ((modMask, xK_p ), spawn "dmenu_run | dmenu -b")

It was working fine before so I am thinking that it must of been an update or something. If I run the command in a terminal, it works just fine. So it has to be the syntax or something. This works perfectly:
    dmenu_run | dmenu -b
    Any ideas?

I don't think it's an actual bug; it's just updated syntax. For me, this solved the issue:
In my xmonad.hs, I _had_ the line
    , ((modm, xK_p ), spawn "exe=`dmenu_path | dmenu` && eval \"exec $exe\"")
I changed this to use dmenu_run instead and not piping to dmenu:
    , ((modm, xK_p ), spawn "exe=`dmenu_run` && eval \"exec $exe\"")
A recompile is necessary for this to take effect. One of you did not have to recompile, but that was most likely because the downgraded dmenu understood the old syntax.
    Now it works...YMMV.
EDIT: I see now that user "securitybreach" uses "dmenu_run" already... Try not piping the command; when I did this, I got two instances of Dmenu running: one with all the executables in path as usual, and one blank.
There are people having issues with dmenu using other window managers besides XMonad, so that is not the same issue.  Not to mention, that my spawn of dmenu is WAY less complicated than that, and I am still getting the issue (before downgrade).

  • CALL_BROWSER function is not launching the browser

    Hello friends,
We have ECC6 server and I have written a custom bapi that calls "CALL_BROWSER" function. We have sevaral window clients with sapGUI running on them from where we logon to server to use this BAPI.
The CALL_BROWSER function launches browser with the right URL on all the window clients. However, on one of the client
which is WIndows 7 (64 BIT), it doesn't launch the browser at all.
SAP has a function name WS_QUERY, that is suppose to return the u201Cnameu201D of the operating system that the SAP GUI is running under. In the WS_QUERY function, there is code to distinguish between Unix, OSX, OS/2, and all the flavors of windows except for the Windows 7 64-bit operating system.
Has anyone seen this problem before? I would appreciate if some one can please let me know how to fix this problem.
    Thanks
    Ram

Since no one responded, looks like this is not the right place to ask this question and so closing the question

Please, verify that you have the Auto generate configuration file option
    on.
    (Window->Preferences->NitroX->Server_Configurations->Edit...->Configuration
    tab)
Your launcher configuration should have the Open URL in browser check
    box selected (Run->Run../Debug...)

Well, the context root was already set to blank (an empty text box). I
tried setting it to "/" (without the quotes, of course). I think what
confused you was my quotation of the period per rules of English syntax
    when I said:
The context root of the "Sonic Net" web application
         appears to be "/."
It would have been less confusing (but incorrect English) for me to
    have written:
The context root of the "Sonic Net" web application
         appears to be "/".
Anyway, thanks for drawing my attention to the existence of the
"Context Root" field - I hadn't noticed it before. I guessed
the context root from the contents of the jboss-web.xml file.
BTW, I am talking about the NitroX-tour sample application.
    Ben
(per rules of English usage, the period always
    goes inside the quotation marks

I was able to reproduce the problem.Right click on your project and select Properties from the context menu.
Select Web Application Properties and check the Context Root parameter.
If you want to deploy in the root context leave it blank or enter "/"
The value of "/." or "." will make Tomcat silently deploy webapps/ROOT
    in the root context.

I checked those two settings and they are (and have been) correct. My
guess is that an internal browser windows showing the "Sonic Net"
start page should appear shortly after launching the application from
the "Run" or "Debug" menu item, but nothing happens. No error messages
appears, except in the case of Tomcat 5.0.27, which, for some reason
cannot find the Digester class, but I don't think this is what is
causing the problem, since JBoss doesn't throw any exceptions and
doesn't switch to a browser window either. Note that I had not
experienced the "class not found error" involving Digester before
    running NitroX.
The launcher is set to navigate to http://localhost:8080, and the
"Open URL in browser" check-box is set." Is this supposed to be an
internal browser? The context root of the "Sonic Net" web application
appears to be "/." I've tried browsing to that location outside of the
IDE, and what happens is that whatever default application existed at
    that URL
on the server I'm using (either because another IDE, like IDEA 4.5.1,
put it there, or because it is the default page when the server was
installed, as in the case of jboss-3.2.5) runs.
I am running NitroX on Linux Redhat Advanced Server 3.0 using the 1.4.2
JDK. The version of Eclipse is 3.0.1. I run Eclipse as well as Idea
regularly under this configuration and have not had any problems. My
default web browser is Mozilla Firefox 1.0PRE, but this
    really doesn't look like a platform/jdk/externalbrowser issue.
    Any ideas?

  • External Browser does not launch

I'm using ColdFusion Builder 9 on Mac.
When I run ColdFusion Application, external browser (Safari) does not launch.
I went to Adobe ColdFusion Builder>Preferenceces>Web Browser and made sure that 'use external web browser' and 'Default system Web browser' are selected.
In case, 'Default system Web Browser' is not working for some reason, I try to define a new external web browser (Chrome).
I enter the followings for the required fields:
    Name: Chrome
    Location: /Applications/Google Chrome.app
    Parameters: -url http://localhost:8500/CFIDE/administrator/index.cfm
When I hit OK, 'The location value is not a valid path name' dialog appears.
    Any help would be appreciated

Still having the same issue. I want to use Google Chrome for debugging my Flash app from Flash Builder 4. I tried inserting
    /Applications/Google\ Chrome.app/Contents/MacOS/Google\ Chrome
    /Applications/Google\ Chrome.app/
    "/Applications/Google Chrome.app/Contents/MacOS/Google Chrome"
    '/Applications/Google Chrome.app/Contents/MacOS/Google Chrome'
in the "Edit External Web Browser" dialog, to no avail.
The space in 'Google Chrome' is tripping FB4 up apparently.
I also tried launching a script with "open -a /Applications/Google\ Chrome.app/" but in that case, while that is accepted, it fails to connect to the debugger.

  • Web Browser will not launch when clicked.

I installed Solaris 10 for x386 everything is up and running. Nic works but when I try to launch browser nothing happens hour glass starts then stops. I can download updates from SUN. but cannot figure out why the web browser won't launch. No firewalls or proxies involved

Have you tried launching it through the command line? There could be some messages displayed that will give you a hint. If you are clicking on a icon, can you check what command is trying to be executed?

  • Firefox 3.6.10 died it will not launch after clicking the icon nor does it launch in safe mode, unknown causes W XP.

(Laptop runing W XP SP3.) Firefox 3.6.10 died, I mean totally dead. It does not launch from any of the icons in the desktop or the quick launch bar, nor does it launch in safe mode either. I uninstalled it and tried with 4 older versions of Firefox to no avail. I defragmented the disk, I ran a full antivirus scan, also ran chkdsk but the issue persists. Looked all over the internet and Mozilla KB but found no answer, nothing that worked for me.
Going crazy because I like my Firefox browser and I can´t believe I will have to use another browser which is not as fast and which I am not used to. Please help me find a solution, I like my Firefox Browser.

The quote below is from a previous thread where several people solved your same problem with the stated technique. Maybe it will work for you. Good Luck.
iTunes 7.0.2 FIX ("Have tried all 'fixes' suggested but iTunes STILL not opening").
    1. Uninstall iTunes and QuickTime.
    2. Do a search in the C:\ drive for "QuickTime". Delete EVERYTHING that pops up.
    3. Restart the computer.
    4. Install QUICKTIME ONLY
    5. THEN install iTunes......and IT WORKS.....Just remember to install QuickTime FIRST.

  • Launching Browser from Java when Browser URL is very  long

    Hi,
I am trying to launch a browser from Java.
    I am doing the following.
    String command = "cmd" + "/c" + "start" + " browserURL";
    Process p = Runtime.getRuntime()exec(command);
Note: My browserURL is very long.
Now the browser is invoked. But the URL shown is incomplete and hence
browser is unable to open the required application.
Can someone help me in this.
One way is to increase the buffer size on the command prompt?
Is there any java command for this?
Is there any other way to solve this issue.
    Thanks,

  • [solved] gdm not showing user list and not recognizing gconf

I installed gdm2setup from aur and ran it as root, and since then gdm will no longer display a user browser to select my user from, I have to manually type in the user name and password to login.
I uninstalled gdm2setup, and then did a force reinstall for gdm (pacman -S --force gdm)
Then I rebooted, and as I mentioned, the user browser does not display.
I edited /etc/gdm/custom.conf so that it shows:
    [greeter]
    Browser=1
    ...but still no luck.
I made sure that gconf says that disable_user_list is not true, and it isn't.
    gconftool-2 --get /apps/gdm/simple-greeter/disable_user_list
    false
So I don't know what else to do, or why this is happening.
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: Here is the most recent :0-greeter.log after a fresh reboot
No idea if any of this is related to my problem.

  • Email links don't launch browser

After the new version of Firefox wouldn't work, I went back to the old version. Now internet links in my email will not launch the browser. The links will work only if Firefox is already open. Firefox is my default browser. What else do I need to do?
    Thanks

Thank you for the suggestion. I tried and I may not be doing it properly, but it didn't solve the problem. I think I deleted the new version and I changed the default to Safari which worked with the email links, then changed back to Firefox and it wouldn't work.

  • LMS 4 - Topology Services does not launch

    Hi,
I've just installed a LMS 4.0 and try to open the Topology Services Section to view the network, but when I click at Topology Services does not launch. I attached a picture with the message:
Steps that I've already tried (some of then base ond this forum)
    - Launch Ciscoworks by name
    - Use JAVA version 1.6.0_24
    - Use Internet Explorer 7.0
    - Use Firefox 3.6
    - Restart the browser many times
    - Restart the Server many times
I hope that somebody alredy seen this messagem and give a suggestion.
    Thanks in Advance

I would like to thanks for all of you that reply my message and try to help it, but I found the solution and explanation for my problem on this forum. The problem is related with the user that is trying to open the Topology Services, when you click on it, JAVA starts a routine where is necessary to record 3 files (.jar) at an specific directory into Java folder, and by default, the windows user for any PC has USERS privileges, so it's not possible to record any data into Java folder, so to solve the problem, is necessary to :
Go to c:\Program Files\Java and add the USERS group permission FULL CONTROL to this folder, restart the browser and after that you will be able to open the Topology Services.

  • BB Desktop Software will not launch

PC, running Windows XP  - Upgraded to new BB Desktop Software.  Was working for about a month.  Now, Will NOT launch - getting Windows Error
    Error Signature:
    EventType : clr20r3     P1 : rim.desktop.exe     P2 : 6.0.1.18     P3 : 4cfdab9c
    P4 : microsoft.practices.composite     P5 : 2.0.1.0     P6 : 4cfdaa3a
    P7 : 12b     P8 : 50     P9 : sclhiaanmqhkf4zdfpvvwejkphnm1zuj
I re-connected to BB and loaded the "fix" versus the fuill version and still cannot load.
From the Windows Control Panel - Removed the BB Desktop Software and re-booted the PC.  Re-Loaded the full Desktop Software from the BB website.  Still NOTHING - except for the Windows errror.
Dead in the water.  Cannot launch the BB Software to connect and synch BB Storm!  iPhone on Verizon is looking better and better.  Mid-February is NOT coming soon enough.
    Help!

No one is "dueling" , we are tying to fix your problem.
    Re-stating my Problem:
    1.  I had loaded BB DM6 on a Windows XP PC about 3 months ago with no problems.  In fact, it linked with all aspects of Outlook that I needed  (Calendar, Task and Contacts).  Yeah!!  This did not happen with the 'original' BB DM that I loaded January 2009 when I bought the BB Storm from Verizon, but I lived with this short coming of BB.  Built my calendar and contacts directly into the BB Storm.
So the original installation of the desktop manager software loaded in January 2009 did not correctly function with Outlook.
    2.  OK.  So something happened last week and the BB DM6 will not launch without getting the error message that I put in my 1st Posting of this Problem.
"So something happened". We can only go on your description of the problem. If you have no idea what happened  i couldn't possibly know.  The only "guess" would be an there was an auto update to existing software or you have added software.
    3.  I went to BB and loaded the "Fix" for PC.  Also, this did not Launch BB DM6.
    4.  Unloaded the BB DM6 with the Windows XP Control Panel "Remove Program".  Re-Booted the PC.  Then, went to BB and reloaded the BB DM6.  Same error message and no Launch.
Try using the repair/modify option in the Remove Program function on the DM installation currently loaded on the PC.
    5.  I am far from the "Techie" that the respondants to this Problem are!!  I am a SIMPLE End User of this BB Storm having mucho problems ... all of a sudden ... last week after using BB DM6 without the problems.
    6.  What can a SIMPLE, non-techie End User do?  From the Respondants Postings .. I am reading about Loading Roxio for BB DM from the Roxio website?  Also, reading about that the Unload from the Windows XP Control Panel, Remove Programs, is incomplete for the removal of the BB DM6.  I am being directed to removing 'hidden' files/keys as directed in a BB Problem Solving Posting for the CLEAN Removal of BB DM6--- which is surely not written for the SIMPLE, non-techie End User!!
The error indicates a problem with some Roxio software. If you were using DM with Media manager prior Roxio was a part of that software, or you are running Roxio software. The Roxio information I gave you was to remove Roxio drivers not load Roxio software.
In your description of the January 2009 install  there were problems with the install that were never correctly addressed. What we are suggesting is to remove all traces of the Various installation of desktop manager which includes editing the registry. That is why using Windows remove programs is not sufficient.
Once complete you will be installing a fresh copy of DM on your system, this will ensure that the DM software can correctly integrate wit both Windows and MS Outlook
The install procedure is SUGGESTED as the best resolution to your problem. Whether you run it or not is your decision.
    7.  In simple non-Techie language for this SIMPLE, non-techie End User ... what can I do to fix the problem and be able to launch BB DM6 from my Windows XP PC??
This is as plain "non-techie" as I can write it.

  • Ovi Maps does not launch anymore on my 5800 Xpress...

I have the latest ovi maps for my nokia 5800 (3.06, and also the latest firmware of the 5800), and everything was working fine until yesterday when I click the Map icon, the application is not launching... I did not install anything new, it just does not want to launch the application (no error message, just like i did not press the icon). I had the same issue couple of weeks ago when suddenly the ovi maps stopped working (i had to reset my phone and reinstall everything), and today it's the same all over again...
Do you have any idea how to fix this? (i have around 40Mo left in my phone memory, so there should not be any memory problem i guess....)
    Thanks!

    @XanderVDB
Presumably you have Ovi Maps v3.06 (688) installed http://nds1.nokia.com/files/support/global/phones/software/ ovi_maps_installer_3.06_11wk23_b05_s60_5...
Don't know whether you restored from a backup after resetting device and have re-introduced a problem.
Perhaps try removing E:\Cities + .qf fle from 5800 and store safely on PC desktop, as empty folder structure re-created when you next open Ovi Maps application.
