(SOLVED) Vostro 1500: Install dellfand help
Hiya,
I've noticed my laptop getting a little too hot for my liking. It hasn't burnt me but can get uncomfortable after a while.
While using mint I installed dellfand to help with the fans but i'm having trouble using it with arch.
Below is the file i would execute to install in mint and would like help as to how to get it working in Arch.
I have managed to do makepkg but dont know where to go from there.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I have replied to your mail. But in case you missed it, here is what I did to get dellfand running on my Dell Inspiron 6400.
1. Download the tar zipped file from dellfand's site, unzip it , cd into the folder and run 'make'. This produces the executable. You have done this already.
2. As root, copy the executable to /usr/local/bin.
3. Put this line in /etc/rc.local to have it run on boot.
/usr/local/bin/dellfand 1 2 40 50 55
The above will run dellfand as a daemon( the parameter 1), with a sleep time of 2 seconds( parameter 2) with an off,low and high temperatues of 40, 50 and 55. Change the temperatures to the ones that suit you.
This alone will not bring down the temperature. I found that a default installation of Arch pegs the cpu to its highest frequency. I installed cpufrequtils, the acpi-freq driver and set the 'ondemand' governor in /etc/conf.d/cpufreq.
Read the cpufrequtils wiki for more info.
I added acpi-cpufreq to my MODULES list in rc.conf and cpufreq to my DAEMONS list.
Now my temps have come down.

I am sorry to hear nothing has worked yet. I have looked up some additional information and possible solutions. Follow the steps in this document to perform a level-three uninstall, register the Windows Installer Service, and then reinstall the HP software. An uninstall and reinstall of the software deletes and overwrites any of the files that might cause the error and resets the Windows Installer. HP recommends that you download the latest software from the HP Web site to remove any files that might be causing this error.

Note: The title of this document is not specific to the issue you are experiencing or the operating system you have, but the 3 steps and instructions are what I suggest we do to resolve the issue you are experiencing.

If you want help you need to do more than state an abstract problem - we need details - what can't it? what makes you thing it can't? what errors occur? what are the symptoms?
Your post is like "my car won't start" - with no details it could be anything from having lost the key to gas - you have to provie details

HP C4700 printer disc (xp,vista,win7) Have win8.1. can't install. Help
I can get the printer to work using a USB cable, but want to go wireless. My disc is outdated, I guess. When I open the disc, it tells me to hit "Install". When I do, it closes. I purchased this desk top 6 months ago and had another internet provider and things worked well. When we switched, I was able to get my lap top to work wirelessly, but no luck with the desk top.
Any ideas" Appreciate any help given.

I see that you cannot install your HP Photosmart c4700 printer disc on Windows 8.1, and I am happy to help!
I would recommend the following solutions:
Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Clean boot the computer. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Re-install using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.

I just install the OATS 12.4.0.2.129, no problem at all, but when I try to start recording an EBS Functional test, I'm getting this message:
Install FormsFT Helper Failure:
Cause: Dynamic enable formsFT failed, no any JRE is static or dynamic enabled.
I have JRE 1.6.0_45, Firefox 24. I have already run the OpenScript Diagnosis Tool and solve the issues listed, but still have the same problem. Can anyone help me with this?
FYI: When I start record a functional test, no EBS, but Web, I have no trouble.

Dell Vostro 1500 Laptop - MS Update Issues w/ 7 Pro
I've got a weird one here. Dell Vostro 1500 which is practically new. Windows updates fail in various stages, and with no real pattern, no error messages, nothing. When I view the update history, it's random updates that fail including security updates, IE 11 update, .NET updates, etc. This is a fresh installation of Windows 7 Pro, and I've tried both 32bit and 64bit versions from completely different installation media (OEM and DELL). Same results every time. Windows installs flawlessly, then when I update it takes literally all day to search, about 5 minutes to download and the installation fails on various updates. When the message arrives, the message tone sound that many times. How this problem can be solved? I installed the new version, but the problem is not resolved, the future is to be taken into account in the new version of this?
I'm not sure I understand the question, is the message tone going more then once?
Turn off repeat message alert here:
settings > notifications > messages > repeat alert > never
Some people have found this does not stop the repeat miessage tone,
if you are one of those then I suggest you contact Apple:

My new iPhone 5 has black and white lines on the screen. It's not been damaged. I've tried turning it off but this does not solve the problem? Please help. I can't find my answer on the Internet.
By far the most common problem hardware-wise seems to be scuffs on the aluminium. Yours is the first report of a faulty screen I've seen.
If you use the same Apple ID on both devices it'll sync whatever you want it to - music/apps/photos/messages/etc.

ok turn it off manually and turn it back on while holding the apple logo bottor or the function botton this will give you an option to choose if you want to startup with osx ow windows. let me know if this works

What country did you buy the phone in?
What iOS version does it have?
As has been said, Facetime is banned in some coutnries and so is not available on iPhones and cannot be insatlled.
Also, before iOS7, the iPhone had no Facetime icon, it was built into the Contacts App. -
I don't get a photo preview in bridge of my raw files, just the NEF file thing. Then when I click to open them I get a message that says: "If you are attempting to open a raw file from a digital camera, make sure you have the latest Camera Raw update installed via Help > Updates" "If the problem persists, visit the following link for more information: http://www.adobe.com/go/kb407111". Usually the problem with a newer Nikon camera is that the NEF files have been transferred or viewed with obsolete Nikon software, like Nikon Transfer for View NX, and those change something in the header of the raw file that makes it unrecognizable to Adobe products.
For new images, the solution is to either stop using Nikon products to transfer and view your files or update your Nikon products to be as new as your camera.

if your phone has ever been replaced by Apple (within or outside of warranty), have Apple check their records to which carrier your iPhone (its IMEI number) is currently locked to.
If it is locked to any other than the carrier you have your SIM-card from, ask the folks at Apple to have your phone's lock adjusted to your carrier. Once that is done, there is a good chance that your phone will work again.
