[SOLVED] Xmonad and shell prompts

Hi
Is it possible to make this prompt/shell support pasting commands? I can only interact with it using the keyboard. Thanks

How are you pasting? Have you tried S-insert or middle click?
If it's true that the prompt does not support pasting of any sort, then your config will be irrelevant and the fix/change will almost certainly have to occur in the X.Prompt internals.
Hi
Yes, I tried both. Moving the cursor over the prompt window, it has no "edit" cursor, as in a terminal. Shift insert is the same result.
Well, OK - but would be a nice feature :-). I'll play with it.
Thanks

  • [Solved] $LANG and zsh prompt color problems

    Hi,
I recently discovered, trying to use Newsbeuter, that, in X, certain parts of my profile aren't set. Until now it only seemed to be $LANG, which is empty if I echo it from urxvt in XMonad, but yields the correct setting if I do the same in a tty.
To make things worse now, my zsh seems to be acting up. I have differently colored prompts for my normal user and root. But since a few days ago, the root colors aren't applied unless I source .zshrc again after sudo-ing.
I updated a lot recently and it's gotten hard to track these issues, especially the $LANG one, to a specific update. The only thing I know is that my desktop, running Kdemod, doesn't have these problems.
I'm using Slim and XMonad. Neither issue is limited to a certain terminal.
Most of my configs can be found in my GitHub dotfiles repository. If anything's missing to get a clear picture, ask for it.
My rc.conf can be found here [Gist].

I finally went through the new sudoers file and got mine to work, see this thread for details. Using that, and using a workaround for libetc, your prompt works for me.
You appear not to use libetc, but if you do and don't also have root set up to use libetc, you will need to create a link to/from ~/.zshrc from/to ~/.config/zshrc
I actually just solved it in another way. Your original point, that sudo changed it's default behavior was the key. In the official zsh documentation somewhere it says that all settings that are wanted for root should be put into /root/.zshrc. I just did that and it works.
Your solution works too by the way. Just enabling
    Defaults env_keep += "HOME"
does the trick and also (logically) re-enables other things that I hadn't even realized were gone yet like syntax highlighting in vim. I guess I should read into the nature of said privilige escalation problems. Maybe there's a way to selectively keep parts of HOME.
So thank you very much for the help.

    Hey
I'm trying to execute a function (rather than a program), when I click an icon in dzen2, using ^ca() - but to no avail.

    !#/bin/sh
    test() {

It tells me test, no such command.. because it's trying to execute a binary called "test", rathern than my function inside the script. Is it even possible to execute script functions, in ^ca()?

Another option that you would have is to just make a script that gets called when you click the link.
However, if you are trying to use a haskell function to say.... Oh, I don't know, change workspaces by clicking, then that would be a horse of a different color.
I'm trying to call a function that checks for mail on my gmail account - because it only updates every 10 minutes, and if I've read my mail it  ontinues to say "You've got new mail.." for 10 minutes obviously - when I click the mail icon, it should call the function that checks mail so it'll update as it would normally :-)

  • [SOLVED] Trouble installing Xmonad and Xmonad-contrib

I am new to Arch Linux. After using awesome for a month I decided to shift to xmonad.I installed xmonad and xmonad-contrib from official arch repositories by using
    pacman -S xmonad xmonad-contrib
and then installed GHC. I was able to start session using
    exec xmonad
in my ~/.xsession file. I copied the default xmonad.hs template to my home.
    cp /usr/share/xmonad-0.11/man/xmonad.hs ~/.xmonad/xmonad.hs

    @Raynman
My pacman.conf was really in a very bad shape at the time of installation of Xmonad. I think I must be careless to notice and removed dependency check.
When I compiled my xmonad.hs I found errors related to GHC. I was too surprised, however installed it further. Now since GHC was installed later, it missed some modules which were previously installed.
I tried reinstalling xmonad, xmonad-contrib before but there was no use. However recursively removing and installing, as suggested by you, seems to have fixed have problem. I am now getting following modules in GHC.
    /usr/lib/ghc-7.6.2/package.conf.d

  • [SOLVED] Xmonad: trasparency doesn't work with compton intel

    Dear All,
I am having a strange issue with Xmonad and I am not sure whether it is a problem of my Arch or Xmonad configuration. I decided to ask on Arch forum first, as my other computer running Arch has exactly the same Xmonad setup and it works fine. I would appreciate assistance from some Xmonad or Arch proficient users on this.
Basically, I have this piece of code in my xmonad.hs:
    myLogHook :: Handle -> X ()
    , logHook = myLogHook dzenLeftBar >> fadeInactiveLogHook 0.8
On the other computer this makes all the unfocused windowses slightly transparent. I find this feature very useful as it helps me focus on the window I am working with.
For some reason this doesn't work on my laptop. My laptop is using xf86-video-intel since the lspci gave me
    %lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (primary) (rev 03)
Also I am invoking compton-git from AUR but I have also tried with xcompmgr in my xinitrc and it gave exactly the same result - no transparency whatsoever.
I looked through my log file, but couldn't find anything relevant (please let me know if you can think of anything). How do I proceed with this issue? Do I try different composite managers? Do I try different drivers? Is there anyhting in X setup that I should include? Please let me know if you have any ideas.

I am very sorry. I've just discovered that neither compton nor xcompmgr were installed. It's not only solved, it should be marked as [NOT RAISED]. I was migrating my configuration and overlooked some erm... details.

  • Tacacs problem with ACS 4.2 NDG and shell authorization sets

    Hi all,
I am trying to solve this problem without success so far. I have fresh ACS 4.2.15 patch 5 ACS installation and I am tryng to deploy it to our environment. So I have configured one 2960S to be my test client and everything works fine. Problem is when I try to create fine grained policies using network device groups and shell authorization sets.
I have created shell authorization sets called ReadOnly and FullAccess. I have also created NDG called FloorSwitches and added my 2960. I have 2 user groups called FloorSwitchesReadOnly and FloorSwithcesFullAccess. Now, if I configure group FloorSwitchesFullAccess and assign Shell command authorization set per NDG and then log into the switch, all of my commands are refused as unauthorized.
One thing that I have noticed is that if I assign shell command authorization set to any device ( in user group settings ) it works fine. Or if I create association with DEFAULT NDG in user group it also works. So my conclusion is that ACS for some reason does not associate my switch with correct group but rather puts it to DEFAULT group for some reason.
Did anyone had similar problem or is there something that I am doing in a wrong way? Is there another way to achieve such thing without using NDG's?
    Thanks everyone....

Please upgrade to patch 6, there is a bug in patch 5 and you can check the release notes or the readme for more information.
What is your user setting set to while you are testing command authorization, did you set it back to the group setting?
    Thanks,

  • Xmonad and focus follows mouse issue

I've been fiddling around with xmonad, and I notice that with focus follows mouse turned on, when I create a new window the window under the mouse gets selected instead of the window that I have just created. Pretty irritating, Anyone know how to solve that?
    Thanks for any help provided,
    Kruppe

Yes, disabling the focus follows mouse behaviour makes it so the correct window is always chosen.
I kind of like having focus follows mouse for when I need to copy and paste in applications that don't provide good methods for doing that purely with the keyboard (firefox and most terminals when not using screen). I would therefore like to have focus follows mouse.

  • Exchange Management Shell prompt for connection credentials?

Some time ago I came across an article where a couple of modifications to the shortcut to the EMS would allow a connection to a specific server and then prompt for credentials for that connection.

  • Question regarding Dashboard and column prompt

My question regarding Dashboard and column prompt:
    1) Dashboard prompt usually work with only for columns which are in subject area. In my report I've created some of the columns which are based on other columns. Like I've daysNumber column that is based on two other columns, as it calculates the difference of two dates. When I create dashboard prompt I can't find this column there. I need to make a prompt on this column.
2)For one of the column I've only two values 1 and 0. When I create prompt for this column, is it possible that in drop down list It shows 'Yes' for 1 and 'No' for 0 and still filter the request??

    Hi Toony,...
I think there was another way of doing this...
In the dashboard prompt go to Show option > select SQL Results from dropdown.
There you need to write your Logical SQL like...
SELECT CASE WHEN 1=0 THEN PERIODS.YEAR ELSE difference of date functionality END FROM SubjectAreaName
Here.. Periods.Year is the column which is already exists in repository's presentation layer..
and difference of date functionality is the code or formula of column which you want to show in drop-down...
Also write the CASE WHEN 1=0 THEN PERIODS.YEAR ELSE difference of date functionality END code in fx of that prompt.
I think it helps you in doing this..
Just check and inform me if it works...

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS.I've never had this problem before... today I opened iTunes and it prompted me to download the newest version.  I use iTunes all the time and have updated it multiple times with no issues.  During the installation process it gave me an error message that said:
    Runtime error!
    Program C:\Program Files\iTunes.exe
    R0634
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I quit the installation, uninstalled iTunes and rebooted my computer.  I now receive a similar message with a slight difference:
    Runtime error!
    Program C:\Program Files (x86)...
    R0634
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I did not leave anything out from the error message.  It doesn't point to a specific file, it just ends with "(x86)..."  Every time I boot up my computer, this error message pops up on my desktop.
How do I repair this issue?  I have found multiple suggested solutions but am unsure which one is the best, and I don't want to try a bunch of different things for fear I may make the problem worse.  I would like to try and fix this myself if possible but I need to know if that is really possible or if I need to take my computer to someone for repairs.  Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!

    Hi lustyln,
I'm having a little trouble understanding all of what you are trying to explain. From what I can tell, it sounds like your PC has a lot of software problems and you want to know what is supposed to be there and what isn't.
For reference, here are your product specifications:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c01893242&lc=en&product=4043282
To get your PC software back to how it was when it was first purchased, run a system recovery:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c01867418&lc=en&product=4043282
    I hope this helps.

  • Xmonad and Xmobar: avoidStruts no longer exposes Xmobar

I've been using Xmonad with the same config for months now. I reinstalled Arch recently, and ever since then avoidStruts no longer keeps Xmobar from being hidden behind windows.
I have installed the xmonad and xmonad-contrib packages; my config compiles without errors. I'm at a loss here because I can't identify any changes that may have been made to either of the aforementioned packages that might cause this issue.

  • Downloaded iOs 5.0.1 but songs did not restore to my phone. Tried to synch to iTunes today and it prompted me to "restore" my phone again. Did that but songs did not restore. Each time I try to synch, it prompts me to restore with the same result. Help!

When I first downloaded iOS 5.0.1 on Monday night I received an error message (I didn't capture it, sorry). So I re-attempted. After downloading and restoring my phone from backup, it prompted me again to restore my phone. I complied. And it prompted me to restore my phone from the backup again. I tried it again with the same result. Finally frustrated I stopped.
I didn't realize until the next day that my music was empty on the phone. I tried to synch today to get my songs back on the phone and instead it AGAIN asked me to restore my phone from the backup. I complied but my music is still missing. I need help!
Please note I am using iTunes as the backup storage on my PC, I haven't turned on iCloud because I don't have wireless service in my home.
I am soooo frustrated right now. I need my music to go running in the morning.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure iTunes is up to date and try again.
