Some concerns with a newly purchased Yoga 11s (Haswel)

I just picked up the 11s from Best Buy, and so far I really like it. A few concerns though:
1) When using the virtual keyboard in tablet mode, the keyboard feedback noise seems to be messed up. When I tap a key, the sound will be soft and every once in a while it will make a louder feedback noise. It's not just one same volume level for each key press. Any way to fix this?
2) I always inadvertently press a keyboard key (one of the function buttons on top) while folding the 11s from laptop mode to tablet mode. It seems that the keyboard does not become disabled until the red "Tablet Mode" notification on the top-right appears, which is usually after a few seconds of folding it. Until this, the keyboard is still active and I always accidently press the airplane mode key, screen backlight key, the refresh key, or some other key. I also sometimes click the mouse pad. Is there some way to either have the keyboard disable faster, or to fold it in such a way as to avoid accidently pressing the keys?

I'm not Lenovo support, but I'll chime in to offer my $.02
1) The D:\ partition should contain drivers and installers for some bundled apps. The other partitions are for recovery, and I believe 13GB is dedicated for the main recovery partition. You can delete those extra partitions and then resize them using diskpart. You could also perform a clean Win 8 install and zap all of the partitions during setup.
2) In regards to the battery, open the Lenove Energy Management utility and change it to Maximum battery life.

  • How can I install InDesign CS6 with my newly purchased serial no. when I have deleted the trial?

    hi guys,
I need to know how I can install InDesign CS6 with my newly purchased serial no. when I have deleted the trial version? In other words I do not have the trial version any longer so I need the actual download files/folder to link the serial number to. I have CC as well but that shouldn't make a difference - I need to run InDesign CS6 for third party plugins.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi there,
If you have purchased CS6 Indesign Download from Adobe Online, then you can go ahead and login to your Adobe account and navigate to "My Adobe" > "My Orders" to locate the Order, its download and the serial number.
You can also download the same trial version again and just use the serial number to activate it to a full version. Below is the link for the trial versions for CS6 versions:

    Hi, ddddda
I've got the same problem, same rate.
I called to Apple Support and she recommended me to report by this link.
    http://www.apple.com/asia/support/itunes/contact.html
    (Select topic .. App store)
Within 6 hrs, Apple replied me with this.
    >>>>>>>>
    Dear Charin,
Josh here from the iTunes Store.
I understand your son made a purchase accidentally that you would like refunded. When it comes to your money, I can certainly appreciate how important it is to feel that you are treated fairly, and I would be more than happy to help you out with this today.
Please read my entire email as I have included information about your refund, what was purchased and how to avoid these type of purchases in the future.
Charin, the charges in question are for in-app purchases. An in-app purchase is a purchase that can be made within an Application on an iPhone or an iPod Touch.
In-App purchases are items you can buy that will assist you in advancing in the game you're playing. Some examples of In App Purchases are: bonus game levels or maps, additional experience points, subscriptions, and recurring services.
The Application "Diamond Dash" was free, and this is the Application that was used to purchase the in-app items. The in-app purchases were for "1000 Gold" to be used when playing "Diamond Dash."
Please note that there is a 15 minute window after initially entering in your password, where the password is not requested again. Once this time has passed, you will be requested for your password, and also to confirm the purchase by tapping the Buy button.
    To prevent any further in-app purchases from being made unintentionally, please set the in-app restriction on your device(s) as soon as possible. You can set the in-app restriction on an iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad by following these steps;
    1) Click on the "Settings" Application
    2) Now from the list of options click on "General"
    3) Scroll down and click on "Restrictions"
    4) Under the heading "Allowed Content" be sure that "In-App Purchases" is "OFF."
After reviewing the circumstances of your case, we determined that issuing you a refund for your unintentional purchase of "1000 Gold" is an appropriate exception to the App Store Terms and Conditions, which state that all sales are final. In five to seven business days, a credit of $99.99 should be posted to the credit card that appears on the receipt for that purchase.
The iTunes Store provides a warning message that asks if you are sure that you want to buy an item. This warning can be turned off. If you would like to make sure that this warning is on, you can reset the warnings in the iTunes Store by following the instructions in this article:
    Resetting iTunes Store warnings
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1734
Additionally, you can make modifications on certain devices that will prevent them from making purchases:
iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch: Understanding Restrictions
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4213
Please let me know if you require any further assistance with this issue, as if you do, I would be glad to help. Thank you very much for being part of the iTunes Store family, Charin. I hope you have a great day.
    Sincerely,
    Josh

  • Trying to create dual boot with Windows 7 on Yoga 11s

I was trying to install Windows 2008 server (I said Windows 7 in the title because it's essentially the same) on a Yoga 11s in dual boot configuration with the factory-installed  Windows 8 upgraded to 8.1, and as expected it's a pain in the butt.
I ran into the catch-22 that you can only boot from a USB external optical drive in legacy mode, and then Windows refuses to install on a GPT-type partition.  Dead end there.
As plan B, I tried installing from my MSDN DVD from within Windows 8.1.  It chugged along for a while, but then hung after the second restart.  It reached a state where the machine is dual boot, and goes into Windows 8.1 OK, but 2008 server hangs on startup even in safe mode.  Probably it's a driver problem.  I downloaded all Windows 7 drivers for the Yoga 11s from the Lenovo website, and they would work fine for 2008 server if there was a way to put them in place.
I have been through the process twice before on previous machines.  After getting the server OS to install, none of the devices work well or at all, but I could patiently install the drivers using device manager.  This is the first time where I can't get the server OS to install to a bootable condition.  Is it hopless, or might there be documentation somewhere about how I could manually place drivers in the right folders to enable the OS to start?
Plan C might be to follow Lenovo's instructions to create a UEFI bootable USB flash drive and try to install from that.  Would that work better than installing from within Windows 8.1, or just reach the same roadblock?

Reformat that new drive with SL DVD.
Go into SL DVD again, go to Utility Menu and choose DU.
Then try repairing the drive or better yet, just erase the drive (not the volume) and try again.
There are enough changes between Tiger partition scheme and SL that you would want to. RAID arrays built with Leopard will not allow installing SL, they have to be recreated (and can then have Leopard and SL).

These are user-to-user forums, you are not talking to Apple here. All purchases are considered final, but you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will refund or credit you : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • I have some concerns with my upcoming statement

After several discussions with verizon personnel, a credit is being posted to my account for an insurance charge that has appeared on my statement for the past 14 months for a phone I do not possess.  I do not see the credit posted and I also see that the charge appears on my upcoming bill for $6.99 and needs to be removed.  I am saddened that over 2 and one half hours of discussion last night was invested on my part and this issue is not yet resolved satisfactorily.  Can someone please help us!  The line in question is   >>Personal information removed<<

    UPDATE:
Removing the line didn't work and changing "UTF-8" to "Western" in the code didn't work.
According to what I found on a Google search, the fault may lie in the server being able to handle Unicode, which doesn't make sense either.
Needless to say, after about 4 hours, it didn't work any better for me.
    Tazon:
I had the same problem, but when I switched the
Character Encoding on my PC version of IE from UTF-8
    to Western it worked perfectly.
The first line in the source from my page reads:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
and I'm wondering if that can be dropped or amended
    to read Western.
Go to View-Enconding-Western to see the change.

Two images (JPGs, not PNGs) that are placed

But these imagesare placed over the text (in this

the text is unable to be read correctly)
if you try to visit the page with a PC running

    What can I do?
I have checked (using my SITE METER account) the

  • Problems with a newly purchased Refurbished Lenovo Yoga 2

    Respected Sir/Madam,
I have purchased a refurbished Lenovo yoga 2 laptop on Friday April 11th and received it on April 18.My Order number is 4288728376.
I have the following problems with my laptop.
    1) My laptop is with 128 Gb ssd. It is partitioned in to two drives
'C' drive : with 93 Gb and 'D' drive (Lenovo drive) with 4 Gb which is an empty drive.
of the 128 Gb hard disk if I remove the bit/byte conversion I should have 120 Gb of hard disk space but all I got is 93 + 4 which is 97 out of 120 Gb(23 Gb lost)
I do not know where that 23 Gb is gone.
Coming to the C drive I have only 65 Gb of free space(of the total 93 Gb available) in the 'C' drive and I have not copied a single file or installed a single program in it.
So 28 Gb is already filled up by Operating system which is totally weird because windows 8 takes a maximum of 15 Gb so another 13 Gb is lost here. Adding it to the previous 23 Gigs I lost a total of 36 Gb
Coming to the D drive. It is named as Lenovo drive. Earlier I thought it was a recovery disk but it is only a 4Gb disk and which is completely empty
which means I only have access to 65 Gb of entire 128 Gb disk which is only 50% of entire disk.
    2) Coming to the battery of the disk. I'm not even getting the battery charge for 3 continuous hours. I'm using 40% of screen brightness and not even playing media. But still I'm getting very low battery backup.
At 17% battery the battery charge suddenly drops to 7% which should not happen with a good battery. It is said that Yoga 2 battery will work for 6 hours but I'm not able to get at least 3 hours of battery charge.
I'm extremely dissatisfied with my hard disk and battery. I have talked to Lenovo customer care regarding the same issue and they told that I have to contact post sales team for it.
After contacting the post sales team I came to know that I can return the laptop at a fee of 15% of the laptop's cost which is totally unfair because it is in no way my mistake. I did not get what I ordered for and still I have to pay for not getting a good laptop which is not at all fair. This really pissed me off.
Please consider my situation and provide me a solution to my problem

I'm not Lenovo support, but I'll chime in to offer my $.02

  • How can I get my AirPort to work with a newly purchased modem?

I have a new AirPort that I purchased and linked to an older modem.  I now have a new modem, a NetGear provided my AT&T.  How can I transfer the new modem to work with the AirPort as seamlessly as possible?  I spend hours attempting the other night, but grew frustrated when the AirPort never communicated with the new modem.  Please help!

Are you sure you are talking about replacing a modem? Modems are usually provided by your cable/DSL provider. So am I right in understanding you got a new modem installed by AT&T? If so, then you need to start by turning off the modem, the Airport router (what model, exactly?), and the computer. Wait one minute. The Airport router should be connected to the modem using an Ethernet cable. Now turn on in order:
Modem - wait for status lights to show communication with your ISP.
Airport - wait for the status light to start blinking amber.
Computer - open Network preferences and select the type of connection port: Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
Now at this point if the Airport device is still blinking amber, then open Airport Utility, click on the larger amber dot to find out what problem is being reported, then configure it to fix the issues.

  • Some help with a MBP purchase please

I am upgrading from an older MBP and need some advice. The main reason is I need a bigger HD and a better display. So I am waffling between the 17" with the hi-rez display and the 15" 2.4 with the backlit LED screen. I will be using it mainly for editing photography.
I am really struggling with this one. As I mentioned in an earlier post, the guys at my local apple store told me the 17" had the LED display, which I find out later that it doesn't.
So my questions is do I go for the higher rez display with the 17" or the brighter LED 15". I'd appreciate your comments and suggestions.
    thanks.

I hear you. Well, I'm biased, but I love my 15" LED display and I feel that it is the perfect size. I guess you have to decide whether or not it is worth it to spend the extra money for a larger screen. You will also get 3 USB ports with the 17", I don't know how important that is for you. If you're doing this professionally, it may be a good investment. However, you already have a hi-res desktop computer, so why not save a little $ and go with the 15"? It'll be easier to carry around and the screen is nice and large enough. I'm sure you could get your work done on it, and then if you need a higher resolution, you always have your work computer...

  • How can I get on the internet with my newly purchased used G5 Power Mac if my ethernet port failed?

We just bought our son a used G5 Power Mac, but when we got it home and tried to hook it up to the internet, no luck. We changed ethernet calbes, tried plugging directly into wall cable (by-passing router), even tried to do manual config, but no luck. I took it to the Genius Bar today and they said the ethernet plug was broken, and they did not have anything for a "vintage" machine like this.
The Genius Bar tech told me to buy a USB Network Adaptor, however no one (Best Buy, Radio Shack, even searched the internet) seems to have them for Mac. What can I do to get this puppy connected to the internet and how much would it cost? Did we get screwed?
