Some feedback regarding the R7970 Lightning

Hello MSI,
My friend has been using the 7970 Lightning for quite some time and I was thinking about buying one myself.
Thoughts (and I have been using MSI cards for years - especially the Lightning and Hawk series):
- The cooling is very good - both the VRMs and the VRAM are also cooled (a detail often missed by the competition)
- A backplate (or a bracer in the TF3) is present to minimize PCB warping
- MSI Afterburner is well done
- The power management is outstanding and probably has no equal, the PCB components are also top tier
- Dis assembly is easy (I usually reseat the thermal compound whenever possible on all my GPUs I buy)
However, I after experiencing his, I am hesitant due to the lack of a dual link DVI connector - my monitor is 2560x1440 with no Display Port. I would highly recommend that all higher end custom PCB cards except for dedicated Eyefinity versions (ex: with 6 mini Display Ports) have 1 Dual Link DVI port for the next couple of years (until Display Port becomes more common). Attempting to use an Active Display Port adapter from Display Port to Dual Link DVI does give issues still and it's not the seamless experience that a straight up dual link DVI would give. Certain applications cause crashes still.
I think that if it comes down to a choice, supporting a 2560x1600/1440 monitor as DVI is far more important than supporting 6 monitors. Among the target audience of this card, there are going to be far more people with high resolution monitors than there are going to be people running Eyefinity 6.
Otherwise, I am happy with the Lightning series as a whole.

  • Have some doubt regarding the  weblog (Lookup's in XI made simpler)

    Hi All,
    I have created the same scenario as mentioned in Siva's weblog (Lookup's in XI made simpler).
    I having some doubts regarding the scenario, it will be great if you help me to resolve the same.
    I am having a file-file scenario where I need to do lookup in database(MS-Access)  through mapping.
    The standard file-file scenario is in place and in addition I have created a receiver jdbc channel . I  have also created the receiver agreement for the same in the cofiguration.
    While creating the receiver agreement you have to specify the interface name which includes the message type…I have specified the normal format which we specify while configuring the jdbc receiver adapter.
    In the message mapping I have created a advance user defined function as mentioned in your weblog which calls my receiver jdbc channel.
    I have also specified the select query to be executed in the mapping program.
    While testing I am getting the following error
    Cannot produce target element /ns0:Role_MT/URole. Check xml instance is valid for source xsd and target-field mapping fulfills requirements of target xsd
    <b>Can you please suggest me what all I need to do in addition to the file-file scenario for this lookup scenario to work.</b>
    Thanks and Regards
    Rahul

    Hi,
    Following is my user defined function
    //write your code here
    String Query = "";
    Channel channel = null;
    DataBaseAccessor accessor = null;
    DataBaseResult resultSet = null;
    Query = "Select URole from  Lookup where UName = '  " + UName[0] + "  ' and UPassword = '  " + Pwd[0] +" '  ";
    try{
    channel = LookupService.getChannel("DB_service","JDBC_channel_receiver");
    accessor = LookupService.getDataBaseAccessor(channel);
    resultSet  = accessor.execute(Query);
    for(Iterator rows = resultSet.getRows();rows.hasNext();){
    Map rowMap = (Map)rows.next();
    result.addValue((String)rowMap.get("URole"));
    catch(Exception ex){
    result.addValue(ex.getMessage());
    finally{
    try{
    if (accessor!= null) accessor.close();
    catch(Exception ex){
    result.addValue(ex.getMessage());

  • Does anyone have feedback regarding the Square register app for iPad?

    Does anyone have feedback regarding using the Square register app for ipad?

    To explore this further, using your computer's browser log into icloud.com and look at the contacts page.
    1)  If contacts are missing there as well, then some device is deleting contacts and the changes are affecting the icloud database.  Also the iPad would not be connecting to icloud since it still has those contacts.
    2)  If contacts are all there, then the iphone is not syncing with icloud, and the iphone has a problem.
    If #1 is true, then are you sure no one else (a family member, friend, etc.) is using your icloud account on their computer/device?  If no one is, then I suspect user error on the iphone.

  • Need some help regarding the component usage

    Dear ALL,
    I have one scenario something like this .
    I have a main component say ZComp1  and in it i have created one view in which we two drop downs and i have 28 view containers depending upon the drop down values these view containers will be visible here all the view container i am using for displaying by means of component usage (i.e 28 compoenents i am calling into my main ). So now when i run my main application it is taking minimu of 2 mins to display the screen .  To test whats the problem i have written some code in the handle default of main window and  set the break point what i observed is quite surprising that when i run the apllication it takes hardly 2 mins of time to reach my handledefault method (which is the first one to trigger when i run the apllicatin) . Please suggest me what can be doen to overcome this issue. or suggest some alternative to improve  performance.
    Note : When there is less amount of data in the screen then it takes less time to execute or else it takes hell lot of time plz suggest :(.
    Awaiting for your valuable suggestions.
    Regards,
    Sana.

    Hi Misbah,
    28 VCO are too much in  a view.
    So, try to revamp teh design and reduce the VCO's in a view.
    Another thing would be, Every WDDOINIT, and WDDOMODIFY view of the used components would be called when you try to load the component at first.
    In your case that is happening, and please check and confirm it.
    A proper modular design would be a better approach in handling the situation.
    Good day!
    Regards,

  • Just needed some clarification regarding the Viewer Builder and actually publishing your App...

    If someone could let me know if my understanding is correct, that'd be a huge help... So I've designed my publication in InDesign and exported the .zip file from the Folio Producer. I've created all of my certificates/splash screens/icons. Lastly, I just recently went through the steps of the Viewer Builder. I'm now at the stage of this process that requires me to purchase the $395 single edition so that I can enter the serial number in the last stage of the Viewer Builder. Now, to my knowledge, once I get the serial number, Viewer Builder will then give me access to an .ipa file and a .zip file. The .ipa file is for me to test on my iPad, and the .zip would be used to distribute to the App Store. I guess this is where I get confused... Let's say after I test the .ipa on my iPad, I don't like some part of my publication. I know how to update my own documents obviously, and I understand that I would have to export another .zip file from the Folio Producer, in turn requiring me to edit the exported folio link in the Viewer Builder. If I had to do that, would I need to purchase another single edition serial number since the original App was edited? Or would the same serial number apply since I'm editing that same App in the Viewer Builder? My next question is somewhat similar. Let's say all of the information is up to date and I go ahead and publish the App to the App Store. However, maybe a month later or some time in the future, I needed to update a phone number or email address--some little detail like that. Again, I understand that I'd have to update the export link in the Viewer Builder, but would I then need to create a new app since my app was already published? Would I then have to purchase another $395 single edition serial number just so that I can update my information? This seems to be the only thing in this whole process that I could use some clarification on so that I don't run into any surprises in the future. Any help would be great, thanks!

    Hi Joshua,
    When you have purchased the serial, you can rebuild your app with your updated content, as long as you use the same bundleID (applicationID), that is tied to your Apple mobile provisioning profile. The serial number is valid for a one year period.
    After you have submitted your app to Apple and it has been approved, please read: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4172167#4172167

  • Just some feedback on the 2014 CC Update

    Just some feedback. When I installed the 2014 Adobe CC Apps last evening, I was expecting it to "update" (As it was labelled an update) the current CC apps on my hard drive. Instead it installed all new 2014 versions instead of an upgrade. This ended up being a minor issue as I am running my OS and Apps on an SSD, and have limited space. It just would have been nice to have seen it (CC 2014) clearly labeled as a new version of the apps instead of as an "update". That could have been a misunderstanding on my part, but it could be better labeled. Other than that, everything is fantastic, thank you very much.

    martyr2 wrote:
    1) Do I NEED to "update" or INSTALL?
    2) Is this the Adobe way?
    3) We sure thought we were signing up for "always current apps" - updates, yes - but a complete new installation?
    1) If you don't have alot of money tied up in plug-in's that don't work under the new programs... then you way want to update/install. If you have need of the new features, then you may want to update/install. However, need is subjective, and only you can determine that.
    2) For this update, it appears that this is the Adobe way, for the moment. From the information I have gleaned, (Caution! Assumption! ) it appears that they are doing it this way because of the lack of backward plug-in compatibility with the new CC 2014 apps. I can see why they would want not to alienate people who have several hundred dollars or more tied up in plug-ins.
    3) That was my understanding as well, but I can understand why they are doing what they did... I just wish they would have let us know.

  • Some Feedback on the New iPod Nano

    Hey!
    I really would like to get the new ipod Nano. I have never had an iPod before. I have been reading a lot of websites, forum posts here and MacRumors, iLounge, Cnet, as many places on the web as I could find that seemed to have credible info on the new iPods. I think the Touch is too difficult for my non-techie brain to handle and the shuffle does not have the FM Tuner. I read some good things about the Nano, mostly from exercisers, which is why I am buying it. But, I read more negative posts about the iPod Nano from people calling it a major mistake, a waste of money, etc. So after reading all the negative stuff about it I wanted to find out if this stuff is true, just due to the new Nano being so different then the previous Nano or what.
    There seemed to be a lot of people bringing them back since they could not turn it off, but in my research it appears the Nano does not "turn off" per se but if done right it will sleep and not use hardly any battery power. There has been some complaints about the ear phone jack not inserting tight enough so it moves around and causes some crackling noise when using the ear phones. I would be getting some higher-end ear phones, but not sure if that would help or affect the antenna component that is in the ear phone cord of the Apple ear phones that come with the Nano.
    I read some good things about it too. I was disappointed when I read that you can't sort the music into certain genre tunes or various exercise music according to beats per min once it is transferred to the Nano. I have no idea if this is true, what is true but really is not a big deal for a person using it for exercise.
    I read from a lot of posts that this was a big mistake on Apple's part. I listened to the Nano at the Apple Store, it sounded OK to me. I have not seen any cases for it to keep the sweat off of it and when I do exercise, especially run and bike, I sweat like a pig--oh, pigs do not sweat.
    Any feedback about all of these kinds of rumors or facts? Anybody care to share with me with their experience? Any opinions on the ear phone that come with the Nano or the Apple in the ear phones. Also, is it necessary to get the USB (white) charge adapter the iPhone uses for this ipod? I hear it can be plugged into the computer but if it sleeps it does not charge it. I have no idea how long it takes for an empty battery to fully charge.
    I was also wondering what the 30 pin adaptor or the adaptor that comes with the Nano, is for. Is that to hook up to a dock?
    Thanks for any opinions, thoughts, suggestions that anybody wants to share with me.

    Feedback from individuals is neither rumor nor fact. It's just their opinion. How much credence to give the opinions of people you don't know is always a challenging question. I tend to give less to people who sound like their whining or who obviously have unrealistic expectaions or didn't do their research or won't even try to troubleshoot issues. People who sound reasonable, who give a balanced evaluation (i.e. NOT "This Nano is the worst thing Apple ever made!!!"), I'll pay more attention to.
    I have one. I like it. Because of the cold weather and busy season at work, I haven't done much running in the last month. My Nano has been sitting, asleep on my nightstand. Hardly any battery drain. Yes, most computers wont' charge through the USB port if they are asleep. I use mine often enough that I don't have any problem charging my Nano.
    Can't answer your questions about sorting by genre as I never do that and I don't have the Nano here with me to look at it. I make playlists based on BPM on my computer. This works for me.
    I replace my 3rd gen Shuffle with this Nano. I liked the size of the Shuffle but was never happy with not having a screen. I'd always end up unable to find what I wanted to listen to. With the Nano, I have the benefits of the size, the clip but I can easily find what I want.
    In my personal opinion all the headsets Apple ships with iPods are horrible. They are uncomfortable and won't stay in my ears. I throw them away. I have a pair of Etymotic ER6i's that I love. They are in canal, passive noise cancelling headsets that are not that expensive. The fit me. I can sleep in them. They don't fall out when running. There are lots of opinions on headsets.
    I sweat a lot when I run. I just don't clip the Nano inside my clothes. Or where sweat from my face would drip on it.
    So, I think the Nano works very well for the type of exercise I do. I've been very satisfied.

  • I need some information regarding the Enable-SPSessionStateService commandlet

    I am our TFS Admin and by default a pseudo SharePoint 2010 admin as well.  We have a couple users who can design and build pages, portals, web parts, etc..  Anyway, one of those users tried to add a web part for SQL Reporting Services
    and in doing so caused an error to occur any time someone attempts to access that page/portal (It is actually a dashboard for TFS).
    After some digging around, the real error (behind the unexpected error with correlation ID) is "Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.SessionDisabledException: Session state has been disabled for ASP.NET.  The Report Viewer control requires that session
    state be enabled in local mode."
    As a potential solution to this error I found this:
    http://geekswithblogs.net/naijacoder/archive/2010/06/14/140408.aspx
    among others referencing the same commandlet.
    To my actual questions.
    1.  This commandlet creates a state service database.  Where?  Locally or on the DB server SharePoint is using?  In my case this is a separate machine.
    2.  I noticed on my server running SharePoint 2010 I have an ASP.Net State Service running and a state DB on my DB server.  Do I need to create a new one?  I restarted the service without errors, this did not correct my error.
    3. This commandlet alters the web.config files for the farm. In what way? Is there an easy revert which will change them back should this not solve my problem or make my problem worse somehow?
    I tried to find some deeper documentation on this but couldn't, so maybe a link to that is all I need.
    Thanks Everyone,  Stu

    The database is created on the default SQL Server/Instance in use by SharePoint, unless you use the -DatabaseServer parameter to specify the server/instance.
    Do you have a State Service Service Application in Manage Service Applications in Central Admin?
    I believe it adds session state to enabled. Just disable or remove the State Service Service App to revert.

  • Need some help regarding the backgrounds

    I am new to adobe dreamweaver & I would like to ask some sort of a stupid question
    When I save a website over the net, the folder always contains the background & the other images as small tiny images while when using Dreamweaver if I want to use a background image, I just load it.
    My question is do they actually load the background image as small parts or the browser devides the image to smaller parts when saving the page?
    Thanks for ur help & I hope some 1 gonna answer me soon enough.

    If you (or someone else) use a repeating background image (128X128 for instance) the browser, per instructions from the HTML or CSS, will "tile" the same image over and over to create the background. This doesn't display multiple copies of the image, but references it over and over alongside and below itself until the page reaches it's end.
    One exception to this is when there is a single large image (1024X768 for instance) used as a background, which usually doesn't repeat. In that case, if you were to download it, it would download as the one large image.
    Another exception is if the image is cut into pieces and put back together in divs inside the page. Often this is done to create the illusion of an image in a layer above the page, unrestricted by the square dimensions of HTML layout.

  • Some problems regarding the lending of ebooks

    We are dealing with the following issues when lending ebooks:
    1.If a user changes the system clock, you can read a ebook that has already expired.
    2. Some e-readers supported by ACS such as cool-er or hanlin do not keep the system date when they are turned off ,as a consequence the ebook provided by out system will never expire.
    We are performing a service based on the lending of ebooks for 3 major libraries and those problems can kill the project, we would like to know if there would be a solution for solving this problem definitively as well as a list of supported e-readers that keep the current date once they are turned off.
    thanks!!

    Countermeasures are based on the next book the user rents not the current book.  That is if the user rents a book and returns it (or it expires beforehand), and then rents another book it, the original book will not be readable on any systems that the new book is readable on.

  • Some questions regarding the iPhone app

    Hi, I have an iPhone 6 Plus using the app version as I don't own a computer, and am currently on my second day of the 7-day Premium Free Trial period. I just have some questions I'd like to ask about it:
    1) I have an extremely large music library, and I'm pleased to see that Spotify has most of what I own. However, for the past several hours it refuses to let me add any new artists/albums/songs to my lists, and when a new album is added, it will vanish from the artist list the next time I turn on my phone. At the same time, I actually tried deleting one of my artists from my Artist list, only to have to reappear the same way. Is this an error, or is there a limit of how much content you can add to your lists?
    2) What happens when the 7-day trial period is over? Does it just start automatically billing me, or does it give the option of opting out?
    Thanks for your help in advance. :)

    Hello , Welcome to the community! :)
    I am unaware of a bug like that, is their any chance that it could be fixed by now
    If you gave payment info/subscribed via itunes then yes it will start billing you, you stop this by folowing these steps:
    Canceling your subscription reverts your account to the Free level.
    Go to the subscription page. (Note: If you don’t know your password, go here to reset it.)
    Under Subscription and payment, click cancel your subscription.
    Select a reason (select Other reasons if you're canceling for a promotion). Click CONTINUE.
    Click CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION.
    Enter your password in the password field. Click CANCEL SPOTIFY PREMIUM SUBSCRIPTION.
    Your subscription page now shows the date you will revert to our Free ad-based service. We hope you decide to upgrade again!
    Note: If you subscribed through any other company than Spotify, you need to contact that company to cancel. If your subscription is through iTunes, please see Apple's instructions for canceling.
    I hope this helped :)

  • Need feedback regarding the recovery discs

    Hi,
    I have recently acquired a T61 with Vista Business. It did not come with pressed rescue CDs, therefore I immediately generated the set of 10 recovery CDs using the Lenovo software.
    I will have to move some partitions soon (to install BSD and other experimentations). The computer came with 2 partitions, the first one being a 6GB containing the recovery part and the second one being the installed system. If I remove them (or move them), will the recovery CDs recreate these partitions, reformat and reinstall them as initially? Even if I completely wipe the drive and remove all partitions? Or are there differences (do I need to redo the initial partitioning again) ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Message Edited by zeb on 04-28-2008 11:57 AM

    The recovery media  should return the machine to the same state you received it in.  My TP has shipped and the first thing I plan to do is to create the recovery CD/DVDs AND make sure they work before experimenting.
    ..."I immediately the set of 10 recovery CDs"...I assume you meant that you made the set yourself, right?
    There are some reports of people who ordered VistaBus also receiving XP downgrade recovery discs, but they didn't realize that and neglected to make their Vista recovery discs from the HD before messing with the partitions.

  • Re: Some questions regarding the Satellite P200-1FC

    Hi folks,
    my trusty laptop has died and I need a new one. The P200-1FC seems to fit the bill, and I have a few questions that I hope this is the right place for.
    Is there a hardware switch (or key combo) to inactivate the touch pad? Is there an indicator of the state of the touchpad?
    Is there a hardware switch to inactivate the wireless networking components?
    Is it possible to add physical memory to the dedicated graphics card?
    I know you can filch memory from system to increase that available for graphics operations, but does it make more sense to add system memory or to add graphics memory.
    What's the loadout for the system memory slots in base factory config with 2GB RAM? Are there 4 slots or 2? Are they all filled?
    Just how difficult is it to "downgrade" the machine to XP? Are there XP drivers available for all the components?
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi
    Im not P200 owner but I will try to answer your questions;
    > Is there a hardware switch (or key combo) to inactivate the touch pad?
    Yes, the FN+F9 key combination should enable and disable the touchpad!
    > Is there an indicator of the state of the touchpad?
    Well, in the task bar you should get an notification icon if the touchpad was disabled
    > Is there a hardware switch to inactivate the wireless networking components?
    Yes, the WLan switch is available at the notebooks side (probably on the front side).
    > Is it possible to add physical memory to the dedicated graphics card?
    No, the graphic card supports an own local cache memory. The graphic cards support also hyper memory. This hyper memory depends on amount of the main memory. Total Video Memory is sum of local cache and Hyper Memory.
    But once again; physical memory cannot be added!
    > What's the load out for the system memory slots in base factory config with 2GB RAM? Are there 4 slots or 2? Are they all filled?
    There are 2 memory slots and the notebook was delivered with 2x1024MB modules.
    The notebook supports max 4GB of memory but as far as I know the Windows 32bit recognizes only 3.02GB because of the 32bit OS limitation!
    > Just how difficult is it to "downgrade" the machine to XP? Are there XP drivers available for all the components?
    Its not difficult to downgrade the notebook to the XP OS.
    On the Toshiba site
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU
    you should find all XP drivers for the P200 PSPB6

    I don't want to be flippant or rude, but if people want to be professionals in ANY field, the first knowledge they need to acquire is how to locate AND USE+ the fundamental reference materials for that profession. And the most important trait, the one for which they are really hired, is the ability to do independent research, and having a modicum of curiosity that would drive one to do that research. We don't mind helping newbies, and even the most experienced person on this board will run into something they are not familiar with, or occasionally just require a second set of eyes to look at something. But a professional+ needs, above all, a willingness and capability to check the docs. A professional isn't necessarily someone who has all the answers at their fingertips or has a full understanding about every arcane subject in their field. It certainly isn't someone who has an encyclopedia full of memorized answers but little understanding of how it all fits together. It's someone who knows where to find the answers when needed, how to recognize them when he sees them. It's less about knowing than it is about attitude. Everything you asked can be answered in the Oracle Concepts Manual at tahiti.oracle.com. You should bookmark that site.
    =================================================
    Learning how to look things up in the documentation is time well spent investing in your career. To that end, you should drop everything else you are doing and do the following:
    Go to tahiti.oracle.com.
    Drill down to your product and version.
    <b><i><u>BOOKMARK THAT LOCATION</u></i></b>
    Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what is available here. Take special note of the "books" and "search" tabs. Under the "books" tab you will find the complete documentation library.
    Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what <b><i><u>kind</u></i></b> of documentation is available there by simply browsing the titles under the "Books" tab.
    Open the Reference Manual and spend a few minutes looking through the table of contents to get familiar with what <b><i><u>kind</u></i></b> of information is available there.
    Do the same with the SQL Reference Manual.
    Do the same with the Utilities manual.
    You don't have to read the above in depth. They are <b><i><u>reference</b></i></u> manuals. Just get familiar with <b><i><u>what</b></i></u> is there to <b><i><u>be</b></i></u> referenced. Ninety percent of the questions asked on this forum can be answered in less than 5 minutes by simply searching one of the above manuals.
    Then set yourself a plan to dig deeper.
    - Read a chapter a day from the Concepts Manual.
    - Take a look in your alert log. One of the first things listed at startup is the initialization parms with non-default values. Read up on each one of them (listed in your alert log) in the Reference Manual.
    - Take a look at your listener.ora, tnsnames.ora, and sqlnet.ora files. Go to the Network Administrators manual and read up on everything you see in those files.
    - When you have finished reading the Concepts Manual, do it again.

  • R7970 Lightning grey/blue screen with vertical lines crash

    Hi there,
    Hoping to get some help from MSI regarding this issue
    I've had this R7970 Lighting for about a year now and up until now did not have issues with it. Yesterday I was trying out how far I could OC with stock voltages using MSI afterburner and the screen suddenly went grey with vertical stripes in a ordered fashion (dark grey, light grey, with a pattern). The computer seemed to have completely locked up and required a hard power off (reset switch didn't work)
    Over the next 24 hours I've installed multiple drivers (some people online have issues with the newer AMD drivers) from 12.4 to 13.4 to no avail (I did proper cleaning using Driver Sweeper and CCleaner in between each). I did a complete reformatting and reinstall of win7 (UEFI) to no avail.
    The issue can now be triggered easily by launching any 3D program (crash immediately upon display of 3D material) or just by booting and running a few standard programs like browsing around windows explorer and launching CCC.
    Is my card dead? Should I RMA or is this a software/BIOS issue?
    Thanks in advance.

    if it happened when you had the issue happen while pushing the clocks up you have probably damaged the GPU internally from a frequancy it couldn't handle!
    if it doesn't now work at stock clocks for the R7970 lightning then i would say you need to RMA the card as the GPU is shot...
