Some small problems. Is this the OS or my device?

Hi all,
I have a MS Surface 2 RT since half a year and I've been experimenting small problems that I wanna know if you know a solution or you think is a device problem and I should contact the vendor.
Here are the problems:
- Almost every time I start the Email app, it closes inmediately and I have to start it again
- Most of the times, when I plug in a headsets, and then unplug it, the sound doesn't work from the speakers, and I have to re-start the device
- Most of the times, when I unplug the keyboard/cover, the on-screen keyboard doesn't appear, and I have to re-start the device, or plug in / unplug the keyboard/cover again
Do you think it's aproblem with the device? the OS? My WIndows 8.1 is up to date.

I'll try to deal with your issues as best I can. I'm a designer too using CS3 applications the same as yourself, so have come across similar issues.
Firstly, the display. There are many negative posts about the display on the 20inch iMac if you search these forums. The problem is that the display Apple have used has a much poorer viewing angle, hence the colour shifts you're seeing. I have a 24inch iMac at home and a 20inch iMac at work. The 24inch screen is far superior and great for graphics work. There really isn't anything you can do about the 20inch screen apart from plug in a second monitor or upgrade to a 24inch iMac.
Secondly, I think all of the rest of your problems may be down to the 1GB of RAM you have. If you're using CS3, Quark etc then you'll have speed issues with only 1GB RAM. And that includes your Finder slowing down too. If you can, I'd recommend you buy a 4GB RAM upgrade kit from someone like Crucial [here|http://www.crucial.com/uk/index.aspx?cpe=CHAWKuk]. They are cheap and very easy to install. Just unscrew one screw, pop out the old RAM, put in the new RAM and screw the one screw back in. Easy.     It likely means there was still water inside it and something has now shorted out and permanently damaged one or more components.  THE very worst thing you can do with wet electronics is energize them - even a small drop of water inside on any of the circuitry or electrical contacts can cause catastrophic damage.
    Take it to Apple for a free evaluation, but most likely you will need to replace it.  For the out of warranty fee ($269.00 USD) you will get a refurbished replacement (like new, with a factory new screen and battery).  An out of warranty replacement will also re-instate your remaining warranty, or 90 days warranty, whichever is longer.

  • Some small problems with my new 3G iPhone

    Having some small problems with my new iPhone, nothing major, just annoying.
    1. When I plug my iPhone in to charge/sync my Adobe photoshop keeps trying to download the photos on my iPhone, which causes an error message from Adobe that it can't download and it stops all syncing and removes my iPhone from iTunes. I have to unplug and reinsert USB cable and sometimes it works ok and sometimes I have to reinsert again. Also when charging, it will disconnect, reconnect and the samething all over again, photoshop trying to get photos and an error message.
    2. Can't send e-mails via 3G? Only can get, have to connected to a WiFi to send e-mails, or is this normal?

    When your iPhone includes photos in the Camera Roll, it is also detected as a digital camera when connected to your computer, and whichever app you have selected to import photos will automatically launch to import the photos. If you haven't imported these photos, it is a good idea to do so as with any other digital camera. I import the photos followed by deleting the photos from the iPhone after the import process is complete. If I want any of the imported photos available on my iPhone for viewing, I add the photos to an existing album that is selected to be transferred to my iPhone under the Photos tab for my iPhone sync preferences, or add the photos to a new album followed by selecting the album under the Photos tab followed by a sync.
    If your iPhone's Camera Roll does not include any photos that have not been imported, Adobe Photoshop should not launch automatically when your iPhone is connected.
    I know how to disable the selected application for photo import from launching automatically regardless with a Mac, but not with Windows.
    Regarding the sending email problem, who is the email account provider and does the email account provider have an authenticated SMTP server?
    Most ISPs block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network or not provided by the ISP being used for your internet connection unless the SMTP server is authenticated. When connected to the internet via AT&T's cellular network, it is no different in this regard. AT&T's SMTP server is included and available by default for use with an email account that does not have an authenticated SMTP server when connected to the internet via AT&T's cellular network, but you probably won't be able to use this SMTP server for sending messages with the account when connected to the internet with your ISP via an available wi-fi network - especially if the email account is provided by your ISP.
    I access two email accounts with the iPhone's mail client and both accounts have an authenticated SMTP server. I've never had any problems sending with either account regardless the ISP being used for an available wi-fi network, or when connected via AT&T's cellular network.

  • Serious problems using for the Airports and any devices like the new iPod or iPad 3 after installing Airport

    I know this sounds crazy but I recently installed an Airport express and an Airport Extreme, I worked on it for several days and everything seemed to finally working like it should using manual configurations so it is all right as far as function goes. Later on I found out I had to do a restore on my new IPod and the latest iPad. No other changes were made to the system using snow lepoard 10.6. I tried for several days to restore these devices with no explanation of the problem. I could not use wi-fi or cellular to update any of the devices. Don't ask me why but I shut the computer down and removed every usb device except for the wireless key board that came with the latest iMac system. I made sure everything was the latest version of my applications. It did not affect my DSL or connection to the internet. I even removed the thunderbolt cable so I had 1 usb connection to the computer. The system was setup just like it came out of the box. I brought up iTunes and connected the USB cable to the iPad and selected restore. I had used iCloud to back everything up when I first bought the iPad and iPod. I also made sure iOS 6 was installed. I clicked restore and it loaded without any problem in just a few seconds without having to sync anything. I checked when it was done and it worked exactly like it did when I first bought them from Apple. The only strange thing that happened was I purchased a brand new generation iPod from Apple (which was made in China). I had not installed any apps for several weeks and had no problem with them. This seems crazy to me that you would have to reset he computer to it's original setup in order to restore the latest iPad and iPod software and devices. The only item that I did not have any problem with was the iPhone. Has anyone had this problem? If so how did you deal with it. Was it the airports, made in China the new iOS or the new iTunes that is causing this? gillie70

    Try a reboot of your ipad. Hold the Sleep/Wake button and Home button simulataneously. Keep holding, ignoring the red slider, until the Apple logo appears. Release the buttons and let the ipad restart. A reboot often fixes numerous problems.
    Also are you aware that by suncing with a different computer it is likely the personal stuff you had on your ipad from your imac will be removed?
    The ipad is designed to sync with only one device.

    What privilege iSQL*Plus connection are you trying make?Tried as normal user and as sysdba. Both works well with Apache
    in Console, both doesn4t work with Apache as a Service started

    DB and started it again. Looked at some v$-views, killed a
    session or two had a good time and impressed everyone. Decide
    for yourself if this could be useful. Might be helpful for
    remote troubleshooting during holidays so don4t tell your boss
    about it.
    (Did anyone try this on Windows CE? Like to know!)

  • Causing some network problem after connecting the new ASA to my network

    Hi everyone,
    Hope you can help on this issue.... It is strange to me...but may not be to you
    Currently, I have a subnet connects to my primary network. All the internet travel thru a router there in turn thru a pair of ASA failover firewall (ie Subet -> router -> Subnet ASA -> Pirmary network ASA -> Primary network router -> Internet).
    Now we try to setup a internet pipe so the subnet can go to internet by its own. So...for security purpose, we put another new ASA in between.the subnet and the new internet. This will be the first, and the old path to Interent would be the back up route.
    NOW
    I have not even make any route cahgnes on the router yet. What I did was to connect the new ASA to the subnet. Again, I do not change any routes, or any gateway settings on all the computers yet in the subnet!! I just connect the asa. That is it...please remember this.
    However, problem happens. I have a application server in the same subnet.... that keeps kick out users. I also have continuous ping to it... I saw that the server has requesdted time out...it did not come back up until about 10 to 20 seconds later. The server, in fact, is a cluster server. Although I can ping the physical server, I cannot ping the virutal server.
    In order to fix the problem, I really need to unplug the new ASA from the network, and reload the cluster server. Then it starts to work.
    ANother symptom is that...people complaint the log on is obviously slower than usual.
    May I ask why the new ASA will cuase this trouble?? Again, no routes on the router have been change. And all PCs in the subnet are still using old gateway, and did not nkow about the new ASA.
    Any ideas would be great!! Very strange to me. Thank you very much for your help.

    First guest would be proxy ARP.
    Proxy ARP is enabled by default on the ASA. The new ASA might be proxy ARPing for whatever reason.
    OR the new ASA might have been configured with an ip address that belongs to another device by mistake.

  • Iphone 4 activation problem ( I have the original id and pass)

         Hello,
         After the update to 7.1.1, my iPhone asked me to activate it. I encountered this a few times in the past but it didn't matter because I do regular back-ups so after activation I would restore it.
         I have the phone from my aunt ( first owner by a contract with Vodafone that was terminated almost a year ago, iPhone still factory locked ), and the problem is this : the phone asks for an email address that doesn't exist. What I am trying to say is that for an example it asks for an id that looks like this with a " b*****@yahoo.com ", and the actual id that was firstly used on this iPhone looks like this " i******@yahoo.com " and was latter changed to " b************@yahoo.com " and later changed to " t**************@yahoo.ro ". The iPhone never had any other email in it ( nor iCloud, nor the store, not even in the mail ).
         Does anybody have any suggestions please ?
    ( I will probably have to settle this with Vodafone in the end but my aunt is currently out of the country, and I really need my iPhone to work )
    Btw, if it helps, the phone was never jailbroken, and no other programs where used to interfere with it in any kind.

         Secondly I activated this iPhone before ( about 2 or 3 times, because it sometimes asked me after an update and I used the id I know ).
         Anyway I guess I'll have to wait until my aunt gets back in the country so she can call apple and sort it out, but I was hoping it could be a common error.
    Want to know the most frustrating part ? Every where I asked they all believed the iPhone is stolen and nobody believes it's just an error. I'm really considering and android right now ...

    Our Environment is Essbase 11.1.2.2 and working on Essbase EAS and Shared Services components.One of our user tried to run the Cal Script of one Application and faced this error.
    Dynamic Calc processor cannot lock more than [100] ESM blocks during the calculation, please increase CalcLockBlock setting and then retry(a small data cache setting could also cause this problem, please check the data cache size setting).
    I have done some Google and found that we need to add something in Essbase.cfg file like below.

    Possible Problems
    Analytic Services could not lock enough blocks to perform the calculation.
    Possible Solutions
    Increase the number of blocks that Analytic Services can allocate for a calculation:
    Set the maximum number of blocks that Analytic Services can allocate to at least 500. 
    If you do not have an $ARBORPATH/bin/essbase.cfg file on the server computer, create one using a text editor.
    In the essbase.cfg file on the server computer, set CALCLOCKBLOCKHIGH to 500.
    Stop and restart Analytic Server.
    Add the SET LOCKBLOCK HIGH command to the beginning of the calculation script.
    Set the data cache large enough to hold all the blocks specified in the CALCLOCKBLOCKHIGH setting. 
    Determine the block size.
    Set the data catche size.
    Actually in our Server Config file(essbase.cfg) we dont have below data  added.
    CalcLockBlockHigh 2000
    CalcLockBlockDefault 200
    CalcLockBlocklow 50
    So my doubt is if we edit the Essbase.cfg file and add the above settings and restart the services will it work?  and if so why should we change the Server config file if the problem is with one application Cal Script. Please guide me how to proceed.

    Your calculation needs to hold more blocks in memory than your current set up allows.
    From the docs (quoting so I don't have to write it, not to be a smarta***:
    CALCLOCKBLOCK specifies the number of blocks that can be fixed at each level of the SET LOCKBLOCK HIGH | DEFAULT | LOW calculation script command.
    When a block is calculated, Essbase fixes (gets addressability to) the block along with the blocks containing its children. Essbase calculates the block and then releases it along with the blocks containing its children. By default, Essbase allows up to 100 blocks to be fixed concurrently when calculating a block. This is sufficient for most database calculations. However, you may want to set a number higher than 100 if you are consolidating very large numbers of children in a formula calculation. This ensures that Essbase can fix all the required blocks when calculating a data block and that performance will not be impaired.
    Example
    If the essbase.cfg file contains the following settings:
    CALCLOCKBLOCKHIGH 500  CALCLOCKBLOCKDEFAULT 200  CALCLOCKBLOCKLOW 50 
    then you can use the following SET LOCKBLOCK setting commands in a calculation script:
    SET LOCKBLOCK HIGH; 
    means that Essbase can fix up to 500 data blocks when calculating one block.
    Support doc is saying to change your config file so those settings can be made available for any calc script to use.
    On a side note, if this was working previously and now isn't then it is worth investigating if this is simply due to standard growth or a recent change that has made an unexpected significant impact.

    Charging cords are covered by the iPhone warranty or their own warranty
    if puchased separately. Take your iPhone and the cords to your local
    Apple store for evaluation and possible replacement.

    Try this ... reboot your Mac and see if double clicking works again.
    Also, you can just select the Application you like to open and hold down the Command+O to open.
    Also, did you check your setting for the mouse in system preferences.
