I'm implementing the java.sql.DatabaseMetaData interface and I need to know if somebody already used it ...
Here's my question: there's a method called "getIndexInfo(parameters)" ...

Somebody can help me ??What do you mean "the difference"? They are different ways of indexing a table. A general book on Oracle should cover the first three, a book on SQL Server might as well (and will definitely cover some.)

I'm trying to get table and columns comments using java.sql.DatabaseMetaData.getColumns and REMARKS field from the rs . But it's empty alought there are comments defined in oracle.
In using oracle 10.2 (XE) , with jdevloper (10.1.3) and jdbc 1.4 (drivers that come with the installation).
Any ideas will be welcome

Your question has been discussed several times previously in this forum. Did you search the forum archives? Basically the answer to your question can be found in the Oracle JDBC Developer's Guide and Reference (which is part of the Oracle documentation and can be accessed via the OTN Web site). Refer to the section entitled Supported Connection Properties. You need to set the property "remarksReporting" to "true". The documentation also has sample code demonstrating how to set the property.

Java.sql.SQLexception: Invalid character encountered in: failAL32UTF8Conv

I have an Oracle 9i database set to use NLS_CHARACTERSET - AL32UTF8. This database is running on a LINUX server with LANG=en_US.UTF-8. The final piece is an application running on WebLogic. Until recently, I had no problems. Now I receive "invalid character" errors on the WebLogic console when trying to create users via the application using the letters f, o, and r. Does anyone know what direction to look in to resolve this problem? The JDBC driver should be using UTF-8 by default and I am not sure where else to look.
The exact error we are getting is:

I noticed on this forum someone else who had this problem was told to update to the latest Oracle thin driver. We are already using the latest ojdbc14.zip. Do you have any suggestions beyond that?

You need to know which version of the driver you are using...

Error While viewing data on XML model- java.sql.SQLException: constante num

I am trying to read an XML file and I keep getting an error. At first it worked, and the it stopped working. I re-did everthing exactly as first time and I cannot get it work
Here is what I do :
1)     Create Physical Architecture under the XML Technology.
a) we create a Data Server with these data:
          Name: XML_SERIVA_TM_DES
          Technology: XML
          JDBC Driver: com.sunopsis.jdbc.driver.xml.SnpsXmlDriver
          JDBC Url: jdbc:snps:xml?file=c:\Temp\hoy\CRM_CR_CURRENCY.xml&dtd=c:\Temp\hoy\ServiciosSerivaConsultasTypes0.xsd
     b) We place the files xml and xsd files according to the JDBC provided in previous point.
     We click on "Test Connection" and Connection is correct
     c) We create a physical schema under the Data Server created in point a) , with these data:
          Name: XML_SERIVA_TM_DES (After created the name is replaced by XML_SERIVA_TM_DES.Esquema)
          Schema (Schema) : <No Definido> ( not sure of english value, it should be <Undefined>)
          Schema (Work Schema) : <No Definido> ( not sure of english value, it should be <Undefined>)
          Default :It is a checkbox , and it is ticked.
          Under the "Context" tab, we add a logical schema named XML_SERIVA_TM for the "Desarrollo" Context
2) Create a Model On the Designer Navigator, we expand the "Models" panel

     b) Under the Folder created in a), we create a new Model , with these data:

I really don't have any clue about what is happening. I have made sure files are in UTF-8 encoding. I don't know if any jar might be corrupted.

Did you specified a Schema name for your physical schema ?
I had the same problem and no schema was set in my physical schema, when setting it, it must be OK.

Actually this relates to the Iexpenese Module. The VO is "oracle.apps.ap.oie.server.TrackExpenseReportsVO"(Seeded)
The user Expense home screen is based on the above VO and this view returning multiple line for the same expense number which should be eliminated.
so for this i need to filter data by adding where clause dynamically on top of the existing where conditions so that i can eliminate the duplicate row.
Please suggest me !! how to move on

We're upgrading our platform from WL 4.51 SP14 to WL 6.0 SP2., Sun Solaris 2.6
and JDK 1.3.1.
We use oracle thin driver 8.1.6 (Type 4) for connecting to ORACLE database. We're
encountering the following error message while executing a stored procedure. This
error occurs very intermittently. I've looked at one of the news group threads
and I've noticed that someone referring to patch CR04274_60.jar which had addressed
this kind of a problem. Pl let advise us if that is correct or not. If true, pl
let's know how we can get hold of this patch.

You are hitting a bug 11672797 (more detail: http://java.net/jira/browse/ADFEMG-83).
As a workaround you have to change the data type to oracle.jbo.domain.Number in your EO or VO if they VO is not based on a EO.

I have a query that works fine if I run the sql in a JDeveloper SQL editor, but I get a "java.sql.SQLException: Invalid column index" error if I paste it in a database adapter. If I put this query in the adapter:

Could you please make sure your binding style(Oracle Positional,Oracle named..etc) of the Seeded VO and Custom Vo are same.
This is the option you will get when you are extending your vo. So make sure that both are same.

The code functions properly until an attempt to connect to the database (the main goal to the exercise, I know). I receive a java.sql.SQLException: ORA-12535: TNS:operation timed out error. The ConnectString is all good, and several different values have been tried. Any help would be appreciated.

The WLS contains a XA datasource which is connected to a Oracle XE database. Both applications are using the same datasource. But if the process calls the method doSomethingOnEAR_B() on EAR B the call fails with above exception. If the process throws AnyException the rollback takes place as expected for transaction in EAR B and EAR A.
Does anybody know what is the issue here? Is there any configuration I have overseen?

That is a WLS internal message. The statement did get cancelled,
probably as a part of the process of rolling back the transaction it
was involved in. If you don't find your core problem, open an
Oracle support SR, and we could help debug this further.

We are using WebLogic Server 7.0 as Application Server.
We now create a connection pool named regPool and
a Tx datasource named regDS.
When we get the connection from the datasource, exception occurred.

So I guess that why we can't use CMP for finding data. Here is the error when we call the finder.

According to the exception message, it looks
like the connection fail between WLS and Oracle 9.2.
Here is a scenario I think you should need to know.
I change the table-name in the weblogic-cmp-rdbms-jar.xml
to a name that doesn't exist in the database.
Then, re-package the EJB, copy it to server and restart the server.
A exception occurred that says the table doesn't exist.
So, in this case, it looks like the datasource works and
connection is fine.
Any recommendation will be appreciated.

I am a default user to the databse server. I connect to the database with '\' as the username and blank passoword(I mean with Network authentication may be).When I am trying to create connection using
