Songs are on ipod according to computer but not on ipod itself

my brand new ipod uploaded the first few albums fine but then said it had uploaded them-- they appear in my playlist under 'devices' (my ipod) but are not actually on my ipod when i go to play them. i have version 7 of itunes but the latest one won't work when i download it.

Try restoring your iPod. Restoring will erase the iPod's hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions and it should connect to iTunes and give you a prompt to automatically update your library onto the fresh installation. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists choose no and it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes 7

Can see files in iPod folders on computer, but not in iPod

Hello - first time iPodder here . . .
I've purchased several songs from iTunes prior to owning an iPod. Since my purchase, I was able to move about 40 songs from my home computer to the iPod. All the remaining 100 or so wouldn't transfer for some reason.
As well, I use iTunes on my work laptop. I downloaded one movie & one TV show in from the iStore. I have a 30GB video iPod. It is set to manually move files (drag & drop). When I drag from my iTunes folders into my iPod, it appears to transfer correctly. I see the status window moving along slowly until the transfer is complete. Afterwards, I can see the file(s) listed in the appropriate folder under in my iPod section. However, after I eject the iPod, the files are nowhere to be found.
Am I doing something wrong?

Sorry - when I say they're nowhere to be found . . . I mean on the iPod. They still show up in the Library folders . . . and the strange thing is - they still show up in the iPod folders too unless I delete them.

Go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars; select the account in question and check your settings. There are two separate settings for mail, incoming mail server for receiving mail, and SMTP for sending mail.
It could be that the mail process is stuck. Before doing as I said above, double-tap the home button to open the multi-tasking list. Locate the mail app and swipe upwards on the app thumbnail to force closed. Then do a reset on the phone, holding the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone reboots, then open the mail app and see if you receive your mail. If you receive an error message, make note of it and come back.

IPod recognised by computer but not by iTunes, Please Help!!

When i connect my iPod to my computer, the 'do not disconnect' screen appears , and my ipod is shown in 'my computer', but not on iTunes please can anyone help and give suggestions. All replies are gratefully appreciated.

Peter. I had the same problem (only after installing 5.0.1). The only solution I found to work was to uninstall 5.0.1 and install the previous version that came on the packaged disk.
Something I noticed, however, is that you can still download and successfully run the most recent iPod updater software. The 9/23/05 iPod updater release works just fine with iTunes 4.7., but it would not recognize the iPod when running 5.0.1 (iPod service error). There is clearly a commong problem with many Windows users with the 5.0.1 release. Don't know if it's a bad iPod service script or what...but it doesn't work for a lot of users (although I, too, had access to the iPod as an external drive in explorer). Haven't seen anything from Apple on it, though.

Look the dock connector on your iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corred contacts, foreign material and cracked/broken plastic.
Try:
- A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears..
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod

How do I download songs that are on itunes on my computer but not on my ipod?

My computer has all of the songs I purchased on iTunes, but my ipod only has a few? How do I get the songs onto my ipod? When I start iTunes on my computer and connect the ipod using the USB, I look at the left hand column but there is no devices there

Songs listed under same artist in iTunes, but not on iPod!?

I have six songs with Marilyn Manson in iTunes; four of them are from the "Lest We Forget"-album. For the other two, I do not have any album-information.
In iTunes, all six songs are listed under Marilyn Manson. On my iPod, however, when I browse to Marilyn Manson, only the four songs from the "Lest We Forget"-album are listed. The other two songs are missing when I browse by artist. However, when I browse by song, the two songs are there all right. And when I play the songs, Marilyn Manson is listed as the artist.
Anyone experienced anything similar? I know this could be the case if the name of the artist is spelled differently for the different songs, but this is not the case here. No exstra spaces in the artistname, exactly the same spelling for all six songs. Still, my iPod is not able to list all songs correctly under the same artist... Any solutions?

nope, there is no "all albums". I do not actually get to choose any albums at all; the iPod just goes directly from Marilyn Manson to display all four songs in the "Lest We Forget"-album. Just like when you just have one album for an artist and iPod just skips the "choose album"-screen.

I can see my ipod in My Computer, but not in itunes - Why?

I can see my ipod nano in My Computer, but can't see it in iTunes under available devices.
I have tried uninstalling iTunes, reinstalling but this doesn't help.
I can see the ipod using someone else's iTunes.
What is wrong?

The top:-300 is putting that div above the top of the browser viewport. Fix that and you'll see the div.

My ipod was working fine, I downloaded some new songs and the sync would not come up. Eventually it did but all the songs did not download. I was trying to do the song that were on my computer but not the ipod. no I have no content in my ipod.

Video plays on Computer but not on Ipod

I have a video that I converted using DVD Decrypter and Videora Ipod Converter, the video works fine on my computer and off of Itunes and it transfers fine to my Ipod but when I try to play it off my Ipod it just shows a black screen and then returns me to the videos menu. I'm running a Windows XP Pro, 3 GHz with hyper threading, 512 Mb of RAM, DVD drive, CD Drive, NVIDIA FX 5200 and Sound Blaster Live 5.1. Does anyone know what Im doing wrong? Every thing else works fine, anyone know what to do?

Have managed to duplicate this problem. It appears that if you make an alias of your movie and add it to the iTunes library, iTunes is smart enough to create a "self-contained" duplicate in your designated iTunes storage area. If, on the other hand, you create a "reference" movie and add it to iTunes, then the actual reference movie (not "self-caontained") is save to the designated iTunes storage location. Further, in the latter case, there does not appear to be any error trapping for this event during either the file to library transfer or the actually sync of the iPod. In any case, attempted play of a sync'd reference movie results in the described problem.
Hope this helps... Attempted to inform Apple of the problem but their iPod Feedback area is itself in need of a proper update.

IPod on my computer but not itunes, and i cant transfer music or videos

Hi, here is the problem, i just got my new 30g video ipod and for awile i couldnt get music on it, but i go that figured out. Then i wanted to put videos on there and when i went to plug it in it wasnt there, so my ipod doesnt show up on itunes and sometimes when i plug it in it freezes itunes, one time i did get it to show up but it wouldnt let me transfer for some reason.
Now ive tried the 5 r's and everything else so could u please help me on this i cant stand it any more.

If you're running windows that the reason. I've had the same prob. Try disconnected your iPad and then open iTunes when your iPad isn't connected and make sure it's not bombed out then close it. Then try putting it back in and take the prices slowly do
Nt. rush it to open that mostly when I get the problem. If that's doesn't work reboot your iPad while holding down both the sleep/wake and home button for 10 seconds then switch it back on normally after about 5 seconds

My apple ID password will work on my computer to log in to itunes and to log on to my apple account however it dosent work on my Ipod it keeps comeing up with wrong password even though i have never chaged it and will work on my computer. Help please

Ipod classic synching on computer but not to ipod

my ipod classic (120 GB - got it a couple of years ago, not sure what generation that is) says it's synching all files but when i eject, the actual ipod shows no files. can anyone help? i've already restored it. my laptop even "checked and repaired the disk". I thought it was my old laptop not having the capabilities or memory to handle it, but i tried it on my brand new laptop and same issue. is it time for a new one?

OK not a helpfully put question, I know. I solved the issue (I hope!!) by deleting all the contents of my iTunes>Music folder except for the Media (having first copied it all to the desktop). I relaunched iTunes and iPod was recognised. Then put the current library file back and everything is fine - for now anyway.

IPod detected by Windows but not by ipod apps; installation freezes

As the installation CD felt out of the box I did not read the warning label that I first should install the drivers and then connect the ipod, probably this was a bad idea..
Now I cannot install the iPod nano software. The CD tries to detect the nano, does so and then wants to format it. This format lasts several hours and then reproducibly failes with "an error is occured" and after confirmation with "install script failure" or so.
The downloaded very last version of the updater does only waits for me to detect the nano but does not realize when I actually do it. It just freezes before showing me the serial number (I read that this should happen), so I cannot upgrade
or reformat the nano this way.
A normal nano reset by pressing those buttons until the apple logo comes does have no visible effect.
Rebooting Windows XP, trying to deinstall and reinstall in
various combinations neither.
When trying to install from the CD without connected nano, it works but itunes then does not recognize it. The list
of running daemons show the ipod service though.
The nano is though recognized by Windows as a USB hard drive and shown in the "my desktop" area as well as in the
task bar as removable media.
I connected the nano to serveral different USB 2.0 ports on the back of my computer.
Any idea?

i could do everything fine up until step 6), the installation of itunes. when i tried to, with the ipod updater window still open, it said it could not continue without closing the updater program. any suggestions?
