SonyEricsson and Bluetooth, even possible?

So I'm getting kind of frustrated. I'm digging into Bluetooth and J2ME for the first time, and am using my SonyEricsson T610 as a test phone.
I am compiling using the Sony Ericsson Wireless Toolkit, a modified version of Sun's, and am doing everything in J2ME 1.1.
Here is the code (shamelessly ripped from someone else) that I am trying to get to run. It compiles fine, and I can package it up using the wireless toolkit. But I'm starting to wonder if Java can even get to the bluetooth functions of my phone. My phone is calling it an invalid program, and the emulator throws exceptions.
Thank you guys so much for ANY help or pointers. I'm getting nervous that what I've chosen for a final project for the semester may be impossible, and I'm running out of time :(
these are the runtime errors from the emulator:
startApp threw an Exception
java.lang.RuntimeException: Not Implemented! Used to compile Code
     at javax.bluetooth.LocalDevice.getLocalDevice(+9)
     at BlueToothTest.startApp(+3)

     at com.sun.midp.Main.runLocalClass(+20)
     at com.sun.midp.Main.main(+92)
And here is the code:
import javax.microedition.midlet.MIDletStateChangeException;
import javax.microedition.midlet.MIDlet;
import javax.microedition.lcdui.Display;
import javax.microedition.lcdui.Form;
import javax.bluetooth.*;
import java.io.IOException;
public class BlueToothTest extends MIDlet implements DiscoveryListener
     RemoteDevice btDev = null;
     Display dis;
     Form form = new Form("Client");
     protected void startApp() throws MIDletStateChangeException
          try
               DiscoveryAgent agent = LocalDevice.getLocalDevice().getDiscoveryAgent();
               agent.startInquiry(DiscoveryAgent.GIAC, this);
               dis = Display.getDisplay(this);
               dis.setCurrent(form);
               form.append("searching...");
          catch (BluetoothStateException e)
               e.printStackTrace();
     protected void pauseApp()
     protected void destroyApp(boolean b) throws MIDletStateChangeException
     public void deviceDiscovered(RemoteDevice remoteDevice, DeviceClass deviceClass)
          try
               form.append("Device :- " + remoteDevice.getFriendlyName(false));
               btDev = remoteDevice;
          catch (IOException e)
               e.printStackTrace();
     public void servicesDiscovered(int i, ServiceRecord[] serviceRecords)
          //form.append("Service:- "+ )
     public void serviceSearchCompleted(int i, int i1)
     public void inquiryCompleted(int i)
          form.append("No Device Found.");
}

Okay, so I may have figured a few things out...
Would I be correct in guessing that the reason the emulator throws exceptions is because the emulator doesn't actually have a bluetooth device to interact with? Does it not emulate the bluetooth hardware?
Also, I built an obfuscated package instead of a regular package, and I can upload the jar file and run it now without the phone giving me an invalid app error. However, Java loads, the App appears to lunch, and a second later it goes back to the main menu.
I can't find a Delay() function in the API in order to slow the app down... if in fact that is the problem, the app does everything correctly, but does it too fast to actually display anything that I can see.
It's hard to test and trouble shoot when you aren't exactly sure what to expect, or what is "normal" :(

  • MacBook won't wake up from sleep and Bluetooth Settings (Possible fix)

    Hi,
    I rest my SMC as per the instructions. I've done this a few times before and it my system sleeps one time correctly then glitches as previously noted. However, this time I did not use any Bluetooth device but I was connected to the internet via my wireless router. The computer has successfully entered 'sleep' and woke up several times without a glitch (white light flashing in front during sleep).
    I the tried various Bluetooth settings starting with switching ALL the choices listed under the Bluetooth Advanced tab to off. I then switched on my Bluetooth mouse, used it for a while then I switched off the mouse (Microsoft Notebook Mouse 5000) and waited for the laptop to give the 'lost connection' notice. Once the notice disappeared I close the lid and the system entered sleep again (white light flashing in front) and woke without a hitch.
    Next I restored the default Bluetooth Advanced tab settings including the ‘Allow Bluetooth device to wake system’, reconnected the Bluetooth mouse and used it for a while before closing the lid and placing the computer in sleep mode. I left the mouse on. Something very interesting happened…….the system properly entered sleep mode with the front white light flashing, I then intentionally moved the Bluetooth mouse and the system tried to wake with the lid closed. I saw the Apple logo light up briefly then shut off AND I also heard the Superdrive mechanism respond. The white light in the front of the system stopped flashing and just stayed on. The system would not wake. I had to hold the power button down till the white sleep indicator light shut off the boot the system back up. It is important to note that I DID NOT reset the SMC.
    Once the system rebooted I made one change to the Bluetooth Advanced tab settings, Specifically, I switched off the ‘Allow Bluetooth device to wake system’. I used reconnected my Bluetooth mouse by turning it on. Used it for a while then closed the lid. The system entered sleep again (white light flashing in front) and woke without a hitch. The sleep mode works equally well now if I close the lid or select sleep from the menu.
    I realize this may not help everyone but it has aleviated this problem, at least for the present on my system. I hope this helps some folks as well as the Apple techs.

    Hi,
    Just an update, it has now been one week since I modified my Bluetooth setting as per my post above. The computer is still going to sleep and waking without problems.

    You will need to get the required info to create/access the account with an email client from your school.
    Are you currently accessing the account with an email client on your computer - if you have a Mac with the Mail.app, or if you have a PC with Outlook Express, etc.? If so, you can get the required account settings there.

    I have purchased a new iPad2 and I was wondering if there is a way to get iPod content onto this new device. I am having difficulty finding any information on this kind of transfer and I am not sure if it is even possible. Just not looking forward to loosing my progress in games and information in notes and other apps. Thanks

    Have you been syncing the iPod with iTunes? Then you just connect the iPad and set it up through iTunes and sync any content you want onto it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1386
    In terms of games/apps. If they are not universal (you will see a + symbol next to them) or made for iPad (you would see an HD in the name, usually) then they won't look good on an iPad as those apps will open in a iPod sized window, giving you the option to enlarge.

  • Does anyone know how or if even possible to block stations and limit content on iTunes Radio?

    Does anyone know how or if even possible to block stations and limit content on iTunes Radio?  I have younger children listening to inappropriate music.  I have the iPad locked down but that doesn't seem to help.

    Thank you for your response! I just don't want to spend more time on beautifying the libsyn page via hours of dumpster diving for code hence reaching out on here about iWeb (even if it's sadly been put out to pasture). This was the response that I got from Libsyn about this:
    Hello,
    Thanks for contacting us. Just to clarify, our system's blog page templates are basic 'starting points' -- we're working now to improve our basic blog page templates to make more options available to Libsyn users.
    You might be able to use your Libsyn show's RSS feed to generate content on an iWeb page. You could do a Google search for 'convert RSS to HTML' to learn more. Here's a link for more info about generating HTML content from an RSS feed source:
    http://www.blogtips.org/free-rss-tools/
    We appreciate your feedback and suggestions. Please let us know if you have any questions.
    Any thoughts? Btw, if it possible to 'view source code' for an iWeb page that's created or to take html code and plaster it into an iWeb page? If that's possible then I might be able to use iWeb for Libsyn.

  • No Bluetooth even after PRAM and PMU resets, fully updated Leopard

    Subject should explain pretty much everything. I reset the PRAM and PMU to try to get my Bluetooth back (it doesn't even appear in System Profiler). Still nothing. Leopard with all updates. Any suggestions, before I take it in?

    Unlike the previous PowerBook G4 (15-inch Double-Layer SD), the AirPort Extreme and Bluetooth 2.0 functions are on separate cards.
    If Bluetooth system preferences does not show up under Hardware system preferences...
    1. Check for software/firmware updates on the web.
    2. Check the Bluetooth card flex cable. Make sure the cable is not damaged and fully seated.
    3. Check the hard drive flex to main logic board.
    4. Replace the Bluetooth card.
    5. Replace the hard drive flex.
    6. Replace the logic board.

    Yes,
    Through Bonjour, Apple's open source zero configuration networking.
    https://developer.apple.com/bonjour/
    http://flylib.com/books/en/2.434.1.105/1/
    And you can't turn it off or your computer won't work, however saving grace is the hacker has to be pretty close to your machine to do it.

  • TS1559 still no solution for greyed out wifi and bluetooth - what to do? been messing around with it for weeks and now discover I'm just outside of warranty period? WHAT?

    I am in such a predicament - phone not been quite right since the 6.1 update and I was tolerating the inconvenience of switching off and on etc etc for the past couple of months and now the wifi and bluetooth are totally greyed out all the time - did every restore possible including back to factory settings - still no luck - please don't tell me that trying all the solutions over the past 2 months that temporarily worked for a few days at a time will now mean I have timed myself out of the 1 year warranty? arghhhhh (I can't believe that such an issue will create the response 'oh well, your problem - best just buy another one' ???)
    I can't just drop everything and drive to the apple store and wait for hours every time there's a 'glitch' otherwise I may as well move nextdoor to the mall. They tell you to try and solve it yourself first - which I did - and now it's not responding to anything I try, will I be told - 'too late, out of warranty'???
    I see theres an update for the iphone 5 that fixes wifi bugs - what about us 4s owners? even my 3 year old 3gs is still working on wifi (haven't dared to update it!) so don't start telling me to expect that the iphone will only last 13 months - NOT AT $600 a piece
    This is madness and driving me crazy
    Please has anyone had any luck fixing this problem???

    well, you know how it is - glitches that usually resolve with a hard reset etc
    then a restore. then a factory restore....then ..... nothing fixes so I try the next step with apple online - fill out my serial number and find it is a couple of weeks out of date - and then with the holidays who has time to get to the apple store? this is my second 4s handset as it is - first one the glass cracked from L to R without any impact/damage etc - they changed it out automatically because it's a 'known fault' apparently - so technically, this handset is only 6 months old - but warranty is from original purchase date -
    never imagined it would turn out to be a warranty issue with the phone - and hey maybe when I get a chance to go to the apple store they'll be sympathetic, but I won't be able to get there till at least Jan 4th as it is. On the other hand, another iOS update might resolve the issue - but how long till that release? at the moment I'm having to use my old 3gs for wifi and 4s for phone!!!

  • Problems sharing internet to macbook over wifi and bluetooth

    I have an iPhone 5S with iOS 7.1.2 and I want to share its internet connection to a Macbook Pro (early 2011) with OS X Mavericks 10.9.4.
    When I share using USB connection, it works fine, but with Wifi and Bluetooth I have some issues:
    - Bluetooth: I have never been able to make this work. I can't pair the iPhone with the Macbook. The iPhone appeared in the list of bluetooth devices in my mac, and I tried to pair it; in the iPhone a dialog asked me to confirm if I wanted to pair with the mac, and I selected Yes. After a few seconds it disconnected. If I try to pair from my iPhone to the mac, I get an error message "Device not compatible".
    - Wifi: this sometimes works but is very buggy. Sometimes the iPhone wifi network is not visible to my mac. Other times, when I select the wifi network in the mac, I get an error message that says it was not possible to connect. I have to turn off/on the wifi and internet sharing in the iPhone several times to make it work.
    This is all very frustrating. Is there a way to fix this?

    Same issue here with WiFi using latest iOS version on iPad Air and latest Macbook Pro. In my opinion, "Personal Hotspot" (or tethering) is totally broken on iOS.
    WiFi tethering works once and then I need to enable/disable hotspot or enable/disable WiFi to make it work again. Bluetooth is so slow it's unusable. Even over USB I have to reset the iPad a couple times a day as the internet connection is displayed as online but just not working any more. Very disappointing. "it just works (not!)".

  • IPhone and Bluetooth printing

    Hi
    With the latest iPhone OS(4), is bluetooth printing supported?
    If not directly from the existing apple apps, but using the SDK/development tools to connect and print (even text format output) to a bluetooth printer?
    I have a requirement to develop an app that needs to produce some output to a printer. Will this be possible?
    Urfan

    Hello
    Thanks for the reply but, Iam not looking to print via the existing apps, like photo/notes etc.., but from my own app.
    If a bluetooth connection is possible to a bluetooth 'device' (e.g. a small BT printer) then I would want to send output to the device.
    This output could be simple text/ASCII using spaces/tabs to align the data.
    In other words, can I connect in a similar fashion to a serial device via BT?
