Sorting files for distributed systems for Documaker

Hello,
I've been asked to research tools that will assist with fast sorting of files for the distributed systems for Documaker. Unfortunately, I have not had any exposure to Documaker so I'm starting from scratch. Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks in advance,
Ron

Easy enough!
BCH files can be sorted by any number of means depending on what you would like to do and when you want to do it, and the complexity of your sorting requirements. Documaker includes some rudimentary sorting capabilities, but since there are so many other options available this is not something we have focused on as a desired feature. You can browse the system doc for more details on that. Otherwise... if you're running in multistep mode then you have access to the BCH file, in which case you can sort it using whatever is appropriate to your OS: MVS folks have syncsort, Linux folks have just about anything from perl to sort, Windows folks have a sort command as well. It so happens that those items I've mentioned are all solutions I've used for customers. If you're running single-step, then you won't likely have the BCH file available to use, and will have to write a custom rule in your CUSLIB for Documaker to sort. In this case, you would have to have access to a sorting application that provides an API. I've used Opt-Tech Sort for customers in the past, and it's definitely both affordable and powerful (and multiplatform).
NA and POL files generally do not require sorting and I would highly recommend that you steer clear of messing with those files unless you have a darn good reason to do so. Primarily you don't need to sort them because the print output is controlled by the BCH file so if you reorder the BCH, the print reflects that order. The NA file contains the variable data, and the POL file contains the forms and sections and recipients for the transactions.
Printstream sorting is an entirely different animal. I haven't been too involved with printstream sorting because it is both 3rd party and happens outside the Documaker realm, but I can tell you that most customers use facilities provided by their print controller (depending on the type of printer) or they use tools like StreamWeaver (in fact that's probably the best one IMO).
Hope this helps!

  • How to create empty text file on target system for empty source text file

    Hi All,
I have an issue in handling empty file in the Text (FCC) to Text (FCC) file scenario. Interface picks text file and delivers on target system as text file. I have used FCC in both sender and receiver CCs.
Interface is working fine if the source file is not empty. If the source text file is empty (zero Bytes), interface has to delivery an empty text file on target system.  I have setup empty file handling options correctly on both CCs.
But when I tried with an empty file I am getting the error message 'Parsing an empty source. Root element expected!'.
Could you please suggest me what I need to do to create an empty text file on target system from empty source text file?
    Thanks in Advance....

the problem is that when there is an empty file there is no XML for parsing available. Hence in case you are using a mapping it will fail.
What ideally you should do is to have a module that will check if the file is empty and if so write out an XML as you want with no values in the content/fields.
Or the next choice would be to have a java mapping to handle this requirement. I guess that on an empty file the java mapping will go to an exception which you can handle to write out your logic/processing

  • Options for voicemail system for Lync other than Exchange UM

Has anyone any information or knowledge about deploying Lync with a voicemail system other than Exchange UM? In particular, we have an Avaya/Nortel Callpilot voicemail system and I was wondering how we could use this as a voicemail system for Lync. Would
a simple 'call forward no answer' to the pilot number of the voicemail system work? I can see that we won't get message waiting, but this may not be an issue.

There is a way to do this with CallPilot.
You need to create a new ACD DN in the PBX.
For example if your mailbox number in CallPilot is 1027 you would create a NEW ACDDN in LD 23.
    1. LD 23 NEW ACD (dummy 5027) MAXP 1 NCFW (CallPilot Pilot 1050)
    2. Confiugre Lync to send unanswered calls to 5027
    3. In CallPilot Manager configure the SDN table to include 5027 then save.
When you place a call to Lync the calls will now forward to CallPilot with MWI on your Nortel/Avaya phone.  MWI will not work for Lync.
Please mark as answer if this was helpful.

  • Changing URL path or prefix for Java Systems for Reverse Proxying

I am running an Apache Reverse Proxy for multiple systems including Enterprise Portal and GRC.  Unfortunately, the two systems share the same directory structure (e.g. /webdynpro, /images, /logon, /useradmin, /VC).  The reverse proxy won't be able to differentiate URLs for the two systems.
I want to add a prefix (e.g. /grc/webdynpro) or change the URL directories (e.g. /grcwebdynpro) for Portal or GRC.  How can I do this?

Thank you for the reply, but could you explain?  It seems like this wiki is suggesting how to change the default port and start URL and how to configure reverse proxies in general.  It doesn't seem to answer the specific question that I have.
I need to add or modify the URL so that it is unique to the reverse proxy.  For example, EP and GRC both use /webdynpro.  I would like one of them to use a completely different structure (e.g. /grc/webdynpro) so that the reverse proxy can differentiate requests to different hosts.
The reason why changing the Start URL doesn't seem like the answer is because the fundamental directory structure is still the same.  The reverse proxy won't be able to differentiate the different requests because of this.
I am looking for some kind of configuration that lets me add a prefix to the entire web application server.  Is anyone aware of this configuration or know of an alternative solution?

  • Need for locking system for delta initialization (BW-R3-LO)

    Hello all,
Could someone please help me with the following,
Please be kind, don't get impatient for the lengthy post
    1. Do we need to lock the system (or posting-free the system) to do early delta initialization or not? If yes, please explain me how that work?
    2. Someone somewhere mentioned that early delta initialization is not preferable compared to normal delta initialization, even though early delta initialization is advantageous. Why is that so?
    3. Imagine, while scheduling Queued Delta Init or un-serialized V3 delta Init, if I choose certain end date and time (say, 10pm, 12-31-2007) for the records, then all the records till that point would be loaded to setup tables and all the records after that point of time will be moved to extraction queue or update tables. My question is, if this is true why would we ever need to lock the system during setup tables filling?
If you say the records after that particular time and date (10pm, 12-31-2007) will not be collected in extraction queue and update tables, why don't we do the following
a). say, I do full load with end date and time (10pm 12-31-2007)
b). Next, I do delta init with start date and time (10pm 12-31-2007) (this time I lock the postings)
If we do this way, we can actually reduce the down time of the system. Is my conclusion right?
If you say it's not practicable as some transactions' saving time differs from time stamp and some transactions' delta is even measured by pointer.......if this is the case we can use Delta offset. What do you say about this?
    4. How this scenario differs to early delta initialization?
Your responses would be greatly appreciated
    Thank you

No,you don't need to lock the Source System which is the advantage of Early Delta Init.
With early delta initialization, you have the option of writing the data into the delta queue or into the delta tables for the application during the initialization request in the source system. This means that you are able to execute the initialization of the delta process (the init request), without having to stop the posting of data in the source system. The option of executing an early delta initialization is only available if the DataSource extractor called in the source system with this data request supports this.

Early delta is not supported by all the extractors. See Lo Extraction

This is applicable to Generic Delta where you can set the Safety Interval (Upper Limit and lower Limit) for the extractor based on ALE Pointer, or Time Stamp or Calendar day.
If you excute a extractor with early delta init, during the setup table fill, the delta records will be directly written to the delta queue. The delta management handles these functionality.

If you do a Init without Early Delta init, then the user cannot post new documents and you have to either schedule in the weekend or request for a Source System downtime.
But if you use Early delta , then you don't need the source system down time and the user can post new records during the init, which will be written to the delta queue directly.

  • Recommendations for speaker systems for DVD player/recorder

I'm getting a DVD recorder soon and I hope to get some recommendations on suitable Creative speaker systems.
The room is fairly big but the TV area is rather confined..so i prefer a set whose speakers are not too big or bulky or numerous (i think i'll stop at 5.1 since i have limited space to put the speakers). Budget is flexible, but of course the cheaper the better (hopefully under $350).
The TV sounds good when watching TV programs but it reproduces an unbalanced ratio of muddy dialogue and loud sound effects when playing back DVDs. I end up having to crank up the volume so high to hear what the characters are saying, and of course, the background audio gets boosted way loud as well. So my main consideration is reproducing clear speech and dialogue and crisp (not overly loud) background audio - any recommendations for this?
Which models have an optical/coaxial input? Can i just hook up the speakers to the optical/coaxial or RCA outputs of the DVD recorder/player since most models have in-built DTS decoders? Which are the least problematic models?
    Thank you.

I think I have the same question more or less. I bought a cheap Best Buy memorex speaker docking station and I need a male to female IPOD cable so that I can Play the radio and charge the IPOD at the same time as well of course have the head phone jack plugged into the Line In that acts as the antenna.
So if I had the Male to Female cable My dock would charge and the cable to the line in acts as a Antenna. I think this makes sense..

  • Suggestion to Apple for 'fair' system for recording TV

A possible reason that computer companies like Apple (and Microsoft) might have for being slow to offer digital TV recording capabilities (and especially HDTV recording), is the concerns of broadcasters over piracy.
[Note: Microsoft's own MCE software cannot record standard definition digital satellite and cable via DVB-S and DVB-C let alone high definition. (Microsoft force you to use analogue!!) Third party systems like MediaPortal for Windows and even Elgato's EyeTV for Mac can!]
I have a suggestion that means Apple at least could provide a compromise that provides a 'fair' solution for both end users and broadcasters.
If Apple should provide such a solution (i.e. a computer based PVR), then Apple's software could 'protect' these recordings using Apple's FairPlay DRM. This would allow end users to play such recordings on up to five computers (just like iTunes). This would be ideal for sharing around the home using Bonjour but prevent widespread copying. I feel that allowing burning to DVD should also be allowed (but remember DVD is only SDTV and not HD). If/when HD-DVD or Blu-Ray disk burners become available then consideration could be given to allowing the burning of PROTECTED disks (which could not be copied further), the number of copies that could be made could also be restricted (five to seven?).
At the moment the broadcasters are making the same mistake as the record industry in trying to bury their head in the sand and say a flat no to users making recordings and backups. This will (just like music), a) encourage piracy, and b) penalise only legitimate customers.
Remember established legal precedents do allow home users to record (time shift) programs, the broadcasters while not trying to block this [yet] via legal measures, are trying to increasingly block it via technical means.
[Note: I am aware of the opinion that some people have that the reason Apple do not want to do a PVR is that it will conflict with selling videos via iTunes. Firstly, there will never be a situation when all programs are available on iTMS, secondly even now this is STILL only available to the USA, thirdly large numbers of people will not have a fast enough Internet connection, fourthly THIS IS NOT WHAT A LOT OF PEOPLE WANT they have already 'paid' for these programs via subscription TV and/or license fees and don't want to pay again]

Elgato's eyeTV does not have the '10 foot' user interface [3 metres to Europeans], nor does it have the other media facilities (e.g. music, DVD). They do at least have digital capture of DVB-S and DVB-C (including encrypted subscription channels).

This uses analogue. Remember that was one of my gripes about Microsoft's MCE. Nor does it have all the typical media center facilities.
    HackTV

Again uses analogue and missing the typical media center features.

Again analogue, again no 10 foot users interface, again missing usual media center facilities.

This initially looks promising until you realise that only the front-end has been ported to Mac OS X and the back end still requires an Intel based Linux machine. Hmm, just seen the backend has now been ported (good luck in finding it) but it apparently does not yet support any tuners on a Mac. Will look in to this some more.
    TiVo
    http://www.pvrwire.com/2006/01/07/tivo-displays-pre-al
    pha-version-of-mac-os-x-software/
TiVo has been dead and buried for years in the UK. Even if it was available it would not support DVB-S (or DVB-C).
At the moment the best solution is MediaPortal (for Windows) which is a free open source package.
We (Mac users) do want this type of application, and we want it on a Mac! You only have to look at all the projects started to see this, e.g.
    CenterStage
    MediaCentral
    iTheatre
    GenieCommands
    CoachPotato
    mMedia
    SilverScreen
and one could argue FrontRow itself!

  • Couldn't create jco client connection for logical system

    Dear Experts,
we are facing a strange issue in our custom webdynpro java application, few of our portal users are getting the "couldn't create jco client connection for logical system" for Model Data JCO Destination. below are details
    1. portal version 7.02 SP14 (we have recently updated to SP14 from SP02-- is this is causing the issue ?)
1.1. updated the NWDI track with SP14 SCA files as well as added latest WD Runtime SCA file deployed the applications to Production also.
    2. above said exception is inconsistent and happening for only few users
    3. ping and test of jco destinations are successfull in content administration as well as in SLD, destinations were added in the SLD system.
    4. cleared the JCO ARFC meta data cache in webdynpro console
    5. jco destinations are configured using uid/pwd, configured user is not locked active and tested in the backend by logging in with the same user.
    6. restarted the portal server
even though, we are getting the above said exception for few of portal users randomly.
Please help me on this ASAP, as i am not getting any further help on this.
    Thanks,
    Ram.

    Hello Ram,
Check the JCo Pool Configuration settings of your JCO Destination. This message normally comes when the maximum connections has been reached. Increase the "Maximum Connections" to some number depending on the usage. A good habit is to disconnect the jco connection after executing the same in your webdynpro code if you don't want it to be synchronous.
    <ModelName>.modelInstance().disconnectIfAlive()
    Hope this helps.
    Regards
    Vijay

  • Can I delete 'Initialization Options for Source System' in Process Chain?

    Hi All,
Can I automate the process of deleting the 'Initialization Options for Source System' for Delta Init package? I need to include this step in a process chain, rather than deleting the init request manually.
    Thanks,
    Naveen.

    Naveen,
As far as I know, nope. And it's logical, considering the Initialization is a "one time" process and not a repetitive one (unless you have to reinitialize, of course...)

We have very strict requirements dealing with set up of Trusted RFC for productive system for ChaRM approach in SOLMAN.
Can some one tell me which Trusted RFC's and users for the productive system do I need?

    c) Trusted RFC in productive system for  each client with users...

Create the function modules in SE37 and set the remote-enabled flag in the attributes section. Then import them into XI.
Create a custom Z table through SE11 on each system to store any data, and the code in each function module would reference it. (Either that or just hard-code everything)
In short yes it can be done through SE37, no you don't need SE38.
I think you're talking about function groups which is a container for the function module. You can do everything through SE37 if you use the Goto->Function Groups-> Create Group option and give it the same name as your Function Module.
