Sound Blaster Titanium HD Stops Working...

I was watching a movie yesterday and after a reboot my sound card has apparently died. I have installed the latest drivers for my card the xi-fi Titanium HD. Anything I have played or done on the windows tests is awful it cuts in and out and full of static. The only way I can actually get any type of sound is if I turn the volume up all the way up. I do the windows test for the sound card in control panel where you can see a list of your sound devices. The soundcard volume is weak even when turned up I don't get any type of windows sounds unless everything is up on max and im playing some type of sound at a very high volume. Even then its low volume and awful quality. I don't understand what could have happened between a reboot to where the card is broken. I didn't have the latest drivers when this happened it was only because of this error that I did the first thing and checked for new drivers there were newer "drivers." I installed them and still have the same problem. Ive reverted back to my old drivers but it didn't work. I've also tried system restore a few times to when the sound worked and nothing still the same problems. Ive also tried using driver sweeper in between installs. I changed pci-e slots but still have the same problems with my sound card. I'm out of ideas here... I love this Soundcard and had no problems with windows 7 64 bit before and after service pack till now... I don't want to see this 80 dollar sound card go to waste. I'm extremely frustrated that i'm now having the same type of problems that I did with the original titanium with windows 7 64 bit support now the "windows 7/vista nati've card" is giving me problems. I really don't want to go back to the on-board sound on my motherboard.... I cant believe this card can break so soon after purchase. I bought it at best buy and its been more then the return policy. Its probably been around 90 days since I bought it. I have windows 7 64 bit with service pack . Any Ideas? I'm about to rip it out and beat it with a hammer.

Hi,
Sorry about that, you might want to test the sound card on another computer. That should tell you if the sound card is faulty or not. Our Customer Support is available through email, please write to them, they will be able to help you with the replacement.

  • USB Sound Card (Sound Blaster Extigy) has stopped working with 10.5.7

I installed 10.5.7 this morning and after reboot it was stuck on the blue screen for an extremely long time. Subsequent reboots were the same, slow on the grey screen, slow on the blue screen. Total boot time was over 10 minutes.
I tried resetting PRAM, booted into safe mode, re-installed 10.5.7 from the combo update and still had the same problem.
I then looked at system.log for any hints at what was going wrong, there were entries like:
    May 14 16:57:01 tarsus configd[14]: InterfaceNamer: iMac8,1/AppleACPIPlatformExpert/PCI0/AppleACPIPCI/UHC5@1A,1/AppleUSBUHCI/Sound Blaster Extigy@3a200000/IOUSBInterface@2 [1]
May 14 17:09:20 tarsus kernel[0]: USBF: 804.220 AppleUSBHubPort: Port 2 of Hub at 0x3a000000 about to terminate a busy device (Sound Blaster Extigy) after waiting 10 seconds
This is compared to 10.5.6 where there were no references to the Extigy in system.log.
There are other messages referring to IOKit:
May 14 16:56:41 tarsus kextd[10]: IOKitWaitQuiet() timed out waiting to write kernel symbols
May 14 16:57:01 tarsus configd[14]: InterfaceNamer: timed out waiting for IOKit to quiesce
May 14 17:01:10 tarsus /usr/libexec/hidd[38]: Timeout waiting for IOKit to be quiet
Which again, were not present with 10.5.6.
So of course when I unplug the Sound Blaster Extigy it works fine, boots nice and fast and there are no issues.
I would really like to still be able to use my Sound Blaster Extigy. Is there any way I can fix this now myself, or a chance of it being fixed in an update?

OK, for the Extigy issue ... it seems I have found a workaround.
Go to /System/Library/Extensions. There is a kernel extension for USB Audio, named AppleUSBAudio.kext.
10.5.6 contains version 2.6.0b11 of that module.
The 10.5.7. upgrade installs a new version, 2.6.4b11. Using a time machine backup
from earlier today, I simply reinstalled the old module.
Now booting is again very fast and the Extigy is recognized once again.
Conclusion: There must be a bug in the new version which affects the Extigy.

  • Sound Blaster Z just stopped working

hi everyone, i just made my account cause i got a problem with my sounblaster z.
i bought it around 2 years ago, and since then its being working flawlessly, i use it hooked to my amp with a toslink and use dolby digital live.
like an hour ago, while using my pc, it kinda hanged up when opened the media player and had to restart.
after the restart, it was not detected at all, couldnt open the control panel and i got a message that there is no hardware available to use.
tried downloading the most recent drivers, and still same problem.
did a system restore and same problem.
all leds on the card are still on, even the toslink port is light, i just dont know what can it be.
most likely ill have to tear the pc apart and check and clean most of it, but that will have to wait till weekend, and i rather ask for a solution if someone have experienced the same problem as me.
thx for any input you may give.

Try re-seating the SBZ card or moving it to another socket.

after 10.8.5, bluetooth hardware disapeared from system info. Sound controls on keyboard stopped working.
all works fine in safe mode. i have already zapped the PRAM, applied the combo update and deleted the bluetooth prefs with same results.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
Triple-click the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}' | open -ef
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. If the command produced no output, the window will be empty. Post the contents of the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window), if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. You can then close the TextEdit window. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that. No typing is involved in this step.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    { sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix\.cron)|org\.(amav|apac|cups|isc|ntp|postf|x)/{print $3}'; echo; sudo defaults read com.apple.loginwindow LoginHook; echo; sudo crontab -l; } 2> /dev/null | open -ef
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    { launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'; echo; crontab -l 2> /dev/null; } | open -ef
    Step 4
    ls -A /e*/{cr,la,mach}* {,/}Lib*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts .la* 2> /dev/null | open -ef
Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of login items' | open -ef
Remember, steps 1-5 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • Sound Blaster Titanium Champion Series

    &?Hello,
I recently bought a Sound Blaster Fatality Titanium Champion series cound (the one with the front panel included).
Sound and everything seems fine. One very annoying issue (not for me but mainly for the other people who are listening to me on Ventrilo) is that they hear a constant "buzzing" noise when I speak. I can't seem to get rid of it.
It was actually worse before as I was able to hear the constant buzzing too. Until I unplugged the mic and audio jack from the back sound card and plugged it into the front panel instead.
I also updated to the latest drivers as far as I can tell.
Any idea on how to fix this?
I am using a Sennheiser PC360 Headset. I don't believe it is the headset's issue, it works fine on my other systems without the constant buzzing.
    Many thanks in advance.

    Eljher,
Sorry about that, Customer Support do not monitor these boards. Please write to them here.

  • Sound on my iPad2 stopped working 3 days later after installing iOS7. Suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Sound on my iPad 2 stopped working 3 days later after installing iOS 7.  I already have tried turning off the iPad and returning back on,  and a Reset, which neither worked.  My sound only works using the ear phones.  Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Have you checked the mute switch on the right side, above the volume button?

  • Mac Mini sound output and superdrive stop working randomly

Every once in a while the sound stops working and when I check the sound preferences it says no output devices are connected, even when I've got stuff plugged in. Doesn't recognize the built in speaker either. This has been happening for a while, but the most recent time I had tried to read a DVD and it wouldn't show up, and wouldn't come out of the drive when I hit the eject key. System Profiler wasn't recognizing the drive either. I fixed all this by shutting down and disconnecting all the cords from the back, as has worked for the sound problems before, but this doesn't seem to fix it permanantly. The sound problems seem to have started when I installed a security update a week or 2 ago, not sure about the superdrive problems. Anybody got any ideas?

I am having this same problem. It just started this morning (August 19th). No sound was coming out and the headphone jack in the back was lit up red. When I plugged the headphones in, sound came out of there. I unplugged them and sound came out of the computer as usual...but only for a minute or so, then the same problem. Nothing works in changing preferences either. Has anyone had any luck with this problem?

  • Bugged drivers 2.40.0008 Sound Blaster Titanium xfi pcie

    Hello guys,
after several attempts i can assume that the new drivers 2.40.0008 for my Titanium xfi pcie cause bugged audio in Broken Sword 5. If i go back to 2.17.0008 everything works fine. My system has win 7 sp1 x64.. i've tried also formatting my pc and the problem is still there! What's the problem with this new 2.40.0008?
I wrote Revolution Software about the bug but they didn't gave me any solution!
The game starts and the audio is ok but every time a dialog begins i've to click mouse button to go on whilest with 2.17.0008 this problem is not present...
    Thanks so much

    UAU thanks so much....
i spent my entire afternoon trying different solutions to replace OpenAl drivers....I tried to intall the one from previous drivers (2.17.0008) but it didn't work (so i assume that the incompatibility is with the new drivers 2.40.0008 because openal drivers are the same 2.1.0.0 in both packages).
I wanted to replace the drivers in windows/system32 dir and after several attempts i used the drivers you suggested me and follow this guide:
    Windows instructions:
    System wide:
For windows, your alsoft.ini is %AppData%\alsoft.ini. Edit this file (or create it) and add:
    hrtf = true
Chances are however, your OpenAL is slightly out of date. No worries though, easy to add in.
    Download and unzip this file.
    On 32-bit Windows: Copy Win32/soft_oal.dll over C:\Windows\System32\OpenAL32.dll
On 64-bit Windows: Copy Win64/soft_oal.dll over C:\Windows\System32\OpenAL32.dll (Yes I know. The naming was their idea, but it really is the 64-bit dll). Then copy Win32/soft_oal.dll over C:\Windows\SysWOW64\OpenAL32.dll (That's the 32-bit one. Confusing enough yet?)
I still don't find alsoft.ini file and i don't understand where to create it but nevermind....each game (BS5 retail and Book of unwritten tales) runs perfect now!!
Thank you very very much magg

  • Sound suddenly starts and stops working?

My iPhone 4S isn't making sound. My settings have not changed and I have turned my phone on and off several times. When I click the buttons on the side to adjust, the icon shows on the screen, but the dots for volume are not there. In my music, it plays, but the sound bar is grayed out, and it won't adjust at all when I click it. In some apps, like YouTube, the sound bar is gray as well, but again, I didn't make any adjustments to my phone. I haven't dropped it. It had stopped and started working multiple times. It went in and out while I was getting ready for work this morning. I got a text alert and then the next text it vibrated but made no noise. I don't get the sound when it sends a text or the noise when it locks my phone. It's like the phone suddenly mutes itself but I didn't tell I too. My music has started and stopped as I wrote this message but again, I have done nothing to the phone itself. I assumed this was a hardware glitch because all the advise I have found for this issue is to clean out the sound docks on my phone. I did that already but the issue has persisted. Turning it on and off has not made a difference. I also can't hear calls. My phone is pretty useless without sound.

  • Help, sound and brightness keys stopped working

    Friends,
after an requested software update (Quicktime, Security..) all the sudden the monitor control keys (brighter/darker) and also the sound keys (louder/quieter) don't work anymore. Any hints how to get them back to work?
    Thanks, Alexander

Which update did you do? Earlier this year, a new update from Apple required a delay before some buttons responded. For instance, before, you could press the brightness keys and it would respond instantly. After the update, you had to literally hold it down for a second or two before it responded. It was a way to prevent accidental inputs.
This may not be your problem, especially if you can't do anything at all. But that was something I encountered. Freaked me out. But holding it down made it work. I don't remember the exact issue and posting at this moment.
I do know the number one issue was the eject key. Again, before, if you pressed the eject key, your media would come out right away. After the specific update, you had to hold it down before you could eject anything. (Hold down the button before it would register).

  • P7800 Sound System |A speaker stopped working

My P7800 sound system with my Audigy 2 ZS is GREAT!!! I love it, but I have only had the system for day. I woke up today and tested it by going to speaker settings and clicking on the Noise button and it plays a tone through one speaker at a time. My right center speaker does not play a tone like it did yesturday. Could the speaker have already gone bad? I could not have blown it because I didnt even let the sound get to high...
Is this a known problem? I can put my ear right next to the speaker and hear it as if its waiting for the next sound, the other speakers to the same, just like any other speakers... so as far as i know the speaker not putting on sound is fine... maybe a sofware failure?

Lets just say i didnt plug somthing all the way in when i switched from headset to speakers today
    It works fine now...
