Soundtrack Pro after fcp update, Bloody useless

Well the old fcp, worked fine for me quick, speedy, multiple programs open, fcp, soundtrack ect. I now find I cant run Soundtrack without super slow down, or crashing, its impossible to match audio to video now. what have apple done? I basically have nothing to edit with properly, I am so frustrated.
Anyone else noticed this? its as if its intel code running on the power pc it does not run smooth at all.
I have a 1.8ghz PowerPc G5 with 2gb ddr Sdram
Any suggestions? old old fcp/Soundtrack Pro/ was super fast.
Andy.

Well after a complete reformat and installing of fcp2 only, it is exactley the same. What a complete and utter waste of time, the old fcp was fast smooth and USEABLE its now stopping me working.
And to top it off i am now geting this..
"Soundtrack Pro is dropping audio becasue your computers hard disk cannot deliver all of the audio in time. Try removing some long files or quitting other applications"
I dont have anything else open and the file only conatins 6 tracks and is less than 1 min in length. Really dont know what to do now. I would take fcp2 off and go back to the old faster one but that means I cant capture 25f. ffs

  • Upgrade Soundtrack Pro for FCP X?

I just upgraded to 10.6.8 and FCP Studio will no longer work. I'm looking for an upgrade path for Soundtrack Pro. i have a lot of projects I still need access to in Soundtrack and wonder with the app being discontinued is there a replacement that can open and handle these files natively?
Looking at the pages for FCP-x and Logic Pro there is no mention of any of this. Are us Sountrack Pro users just stranded or are we expected to live in OSX 10.5 limbo for ever?

    Adam,
It may not be helpful. but I have been running FCS3 and all it's apps (including STP) on OSX 10.6.8 with no glitches of any kind, it is not the apps as Studio X points out. I too don't like to spend time wiping everything down & reinstalling.
Fortunately, Macs have always played nicely with me (I have owned both PC's & Macs since the beginning - after the abacus & slide rule went out of style). PC's are of course, more ornery and get corrupted more often, at least in my experience, which is why my current PC plays second fiddle to my Mac Pro & MacBookPro.
At any rate, as GT notes, the original question about a replacemnt for STP is still open to a degree in this thread. The cold hard fact is that APPLE does not have at this time, any  "replacement" for STP, and it's commonly accepted by the experts that there is no intention in Apple to work on one.
It is worth noting that STP can export in a variety of formats (Aiff, wav. MP3, Dolby ACC, Next, Sound Designer and even compressor). If you choose not to reinstall as Studio X suggested, you could pick any of a number of software platforms which you'll have to purchase, and then export the work already done in STP to those.
Yes, it's a P.I.T.A., but Apple, like all Kings of the Jungle, does as it wants, when it wants, without regard for what YOU or I want. Join the "wish hadn't done that " club, have 2 or 3 adult beverages of your choice and adapt as best you can.

  • Soundtrack Pro v2.02 update

How do I go about getting this update? I have Logic Studio 8 installed. That installs Soundtrack Pro.
On the download page, the update takes me to the FCP page. There it will only allow a FCP serial, which I don't own. Via software update, it does not show the update either. So now what?
Sorry, I see the same question was asked in another thread, but it is not appearing in software update for me. (also, the pro application update is not listed)

Non' che' dubio' otri' vezi' - problemi'!
    That's getting close eh?
I looked through the downloads and Apple has not given a direct link for Logic Studio users!
That's a problem and it's not right. I would recommend calling the tech support line but right now it's so busy and the call from Italy isn't free. (39) 199 120 800
I would recommend going to Version Tracker and complaining in the feedback about this problem. I posted the problem in the feedback section for apple. But for now you're just going to have to wait.

  • Resizing of images after FCP update not working. When I try to resize, It resizes a blank transparent image.

I am having trouble resizing images after I installed the FCP update. When I press the transform button, and then click on teh image, I go to the little blue dots on the side of the image that usually resize the image, and when I drag them out, instead of the image resizing, a black trasparent rectangle the same size as the photo expands outward to my desired size. This has happened to me before the update when trying to resize text, but the problem usually fixed itself once I clicked again on the text line in the editing section.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Russ,
It doesn't work that way either, however it's okay because I solved the problem. Turns out I had to select 'add keyframe' on either the 'crop' or 'distort' tabs and it fixes itself. No idea why but the problem is solved! Thanks for your help anyhow.

  • No Soundtrack Pro or ProApp updates for Logic Studio users?

I attempted to download updates for Soundtrack Pro and the ProApp update but was asked for a Final Cut serial number - - whichm as a Logic Studio owner I do not have. So what's up - - are these updates not signifcant for those who purchased and use Logic Studio? Please advise.

You shouldn't need to go to the download page, just run software update and it should show up. Do any OS and Pro App updates first, the STP upgrade won't show up there until you do.

  • Screen blinking when turning on my Mid 2011 MacBook Pro after recent update.

Just did the recent software update and my Mid 2011 MacBook Pro 13" when turning on the screen blinks until the computer is rebooted/restarted.  Have never had a problem before. Of course, my Apple Care just expired the end of June 2014. Is anyone else having a problem?

When you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.
Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first.
Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.

  • TouchSmart 320-1050 Win7 Pro After Windows update, login results in a black screen + white cursor

    Hi ...
After some Microsoft automatic upgrades were done om my HP TouchSmart 320-1050 this week, when I logged in after the reboot, all I got was a blank (black) screen and a white arrow cursor, which worked fine -but there was nothing -no video output on the screen. Even a <CTL><ALT><DEL> did not bring anything up on the screen and I had to force the system down with a hard power down. I tried with user logins and Administrator login but the behaviour was the same.
I could boot and get a picture in SAFE mode but not with a normal boot and login.  There were NO ERRORS in the Windows event logs that seemed to shed any light on the issue.
The system was shipped with Windows 7 Home Premium however I upgraded to Windows 7 Pro so I could join my domain.
I couldn't diagnose the problem -with nothing showing on my screen- so last night I check what updates were installed to see about de-installing them from Safe mode.
After de-installing the most recent Microsoft HotFix (KB2679255) and rebooting .... POOF!  I had my desktop displayed again after I logged in.
I don't know what piece of software was interacting with this HotFix - but thought I should post the issue, just in case someone else encountered the problem... or someone in HP Support wants to investigate ... (Let me know and I'll supply what info I can.)
    Thanks

    thanks for letting folks know.

  • VERY SLOW Mac Book Pro after Mavericks update...

I have recently updated my MacBook Pro to Mavericks and everything is slow. I use IMovie and my computer freezes. What should I do?

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. This procedure is a diagnostic  test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem. The backup is necessary on principle, not because of anything suggested in this comment. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The procedure will help to identify which such modifications you've installed, as well as some other aspects of the state of the system that may be pertinent.
Don’t be alarmed by the seeming complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out. Here's a brief summary: You copy a line of text from this web page into a window in another application. You wait about a minute. Then you paste some other text, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page. The sequence is: copy, paste, paste again. That's all there is to it. Details follow.
You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken while booted in “normal” mode. If the system is now running in safe mode and is bootable in normal mode, reboot as usual. If it only boots in safe mode, proceed anyway.
Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script. It does nothing but produce human-readable output. However, you need to be cautious about running any program at the behest of a stranger on a public message board. If you question the safety of the procedure suggested here — which you should — search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them.
The script will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but it's really a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it.
If you have more than one user, and the affected user is not an administrator, then please run the script twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The administrator is the user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time. If you can't log in as an administrator, just run the script as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign ($) or a percent sign (%). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    clear; PB=/usr/libexec/PlistBuddy; PR () { [[ "$o" ]] && o=$(sed 's/^/   /' <<< "$o") && printf '\n%s:\n\n%s\n' "$1" "$o"; }; PC () { o=$(egrep -v '^[[:blank:]]*($|#)' "$2"); PR "$1"; }; PF () { o=$($PB -c Print "$2" | awk -F'= ' \/$3'/{print $2}'); PR "$1"; }; PN () { [[ $o -eq 0 ]] || printf "\n%s: %s\n" "$1" $o; }; a=$(id | grep -w '80(admin)'); [[ "$a" ]] && sudo true && r=1 || r=; { [[ "$a" ]] || echo $'No admin access\n'; [[ "$a" && !     Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). The text you pasted should vanish immediately, leaving the Terminal window empty. If that doesn't happen, press the return key.
If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter your password, the script will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important, so don't worry about it.
The script may take up to a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. Wait for the line "[Process completed]" to appear in the Terminal window.
You can then quit Terminal. The output of the script will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. All you have to do is paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V again.
    Please note:
☞ This procedure is all copy-and-paste — type nothing in the Terminal window except your login password if and when prompted.
☞ Remember to post the output. It's already in the Clipboard when you see "[Process completed]" in the Terminal window. You don't have to copy the output; just paste into your web browser.
☞ If any personal information, such as your name or email address, appears in the output, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.

  • Optical drive won't burn: Macbook Pro after Mavericks update

I have just updated my OSX to Mavericks on my Macbook Pro, late I know but I was trying to avoid any software conflicts.  My Optical Drive can't burn either CD or DVD.  It plays them and recognises them but won't burn. Error message:
The disc can’t be burned, because the device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media.
I have tried compressed air, restarting, updating software and have looked through this forum for possible solutions but everything I've tried hasn't worked.
I burnt a DVD yesterday with no issue and then updated my OSX last night and know it won't work.
Please help, on the verge of a meltdown with a heavy deadline looming
    V

The built-in camera shouldn't work in Image Capture which is for use with a photographic camera or a scanner. As for Skype you might check if you have the most recent version. If you do, then I would contact the developers about the problem. It's clear that the camera is working with Photo Booth and FaceTime. That suggests there is no problem with Mavericks.
